Margaret “Peg” (Brown) McCallum died peacefully at her residence in Strathroy on November 6, 2007 in her eighty-sixth year. She was born in Cobalt. Predeceased by husband John D. McCallum (1986), father Arthur James Brown and mother Pearl (Irene Allen). Also predeceased by brothers Jim (Claudia) and Allan; sisters Hazel (Ivor) Foyle, Vera (Mac) McQuay, Muriel (Russel) Parnell, Irene, Barbara; sister-in-law Lilly (Ted) Brown; brothers-in-law Bill and Grant McCallum, Gordon Stewart. NOGAS, Mary - Peacefully at Linhaven and in the presence of her family, on Friday November 16th, 2007 in her 81st year. Beloved wife of 56 years to John Nogas of Thorold. Loving mother of Mike (Debbie) Nogas, Stan Nogas, David (Frances) Nogas and Sandra (Sean) Polly. Baba will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jonathan, Paul, Georgia, Karen, Sarah, Kevin, Adam, Michael and Matthew. She is survived by sisters and brothers Audrey, Margaret, Sandy and Arthur, and brother-in-law Fred (Val) Nogas. Also survived by many family members and friends. Predeceased by brother, Gosey and sisters, Gladys and Jenny. Mary was a woman of faith, compassion, patience and generosity. Born in Britt, Ontario she trained under The Grey Nuns at St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Sudbury. She endeavored to make a difference as a nurse working at the St. Catharines General Hospital and later at Maplehurst Nursing Home. A long time member of the St. Catharines Graduate Nurses Association, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and CWL and a tireless volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Meals on Wheels and the Niagara Parkinson's Society. The family wishes to thank the staff at Linhaven Home for the Aged, Dalhousie House, for their compassion and care. GUNTER, WALTER LESLIE The death of Walter L. Gunter formerly of Jemseg, NB occurred at the Veterans Health Unit, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, November 14, 2007. Born in Jemseg, NB he was the son of the late Harry and Medora (Robertson) Gunter and husband of the late Margaret Patricia "Pat" (McCafferty) Gunter. Walter was a Veteran of WWII , belonging to the RCASC. He was also a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #66. Walter is survived by his step-daughter, Louise Underhill (Sterling) of Blackville, NB; brother, Clifford Gunter (Ola) of Jemseg, NB; sister, Elsie Brewer (Dave) of Jemseg, NB as well as his grandchildren, Kim, Kerri, Joy, Tony and Tracy; one nephew, Chris and two nieces, Kim and Karen. He is predeceased by his wife, Pat, his parents and his step son, Kenneth McGrath. There will be no visitation or service by Walter's request. Beloved husband of 49 years to Shirley (Nee Srigley). Dad will be dearly missed by Lynda Hammond and Lynn Smallwood of Lakefield, Alex and Debbie Hammond of Carrying Place, and Lisa Anne and Jason Quesada of Texas. Wesley spent his youth working in the lumber camps and in Tug Boat's on St. Lawrence river, and volunteered for the Canadian Army during the World War II, and later was a Oil Well Drilling Contractor and Producer in Gaspe Bay, Northern Ontario, and Southwestern Ontario. Anna Timberg nee: Super, of Kapuskasing, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on November 2, 2007. Ms Timberg was born on August 24, 1927 in Gospic, Croatia. She worked in customer service for an insurance company. She is survived by her husband, Reino; her children, Robert (Heather), of Toronto, Lloyd (Lynne) of Burlington and Kathryn Vachon (Jean) of Smiths Falls; her grandchildren, Mitch, Eric, Stefane, Anne, Allison, Evert, Morgan, Richard, Danny and Laina as well as one great-grandson, Jayden. Ms Timberg was predeceased by her parents, Matt and Katy Super and her brother, George Super. Father Fernand Villeneuve officiated at the funeral service Nov. 5, 2007 at St. Patrick’s Church. DAGGETT, WILLIAM (BILL) DWIGHT - (December 13, 1944 - November 15, 2007) Bill passed through the valley of the shadow of death into the light and peace of His Lord whom he loved on November 15, 2007 with his family by his side. He was the fourth son of William Earle Daggett (predeceased on June 2, 1970) and Della (nee Huntley) Daggett Keating. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (nee Taylor); and daughter, Anzonette (Blaine) Brown; and grandsons, Mitchell and Jaden. He will be sorely missed by his mother and older brothers, Russell (Ida), Claude (Helen), Layne (Helena); and younger sister, Bonnie (Allen) Benson; his brother-in-law, Dwight Taylor (Charmaine); and all his nieces and nephews. Bill and Linda were married in Grand Harbour Baptist Church on August 21, 1965 and have been devoted to their daughter and proud of their grandsons. Bill was a lifetime resident of Grand Manan, NB where he was well liked, admired and respected. His good humour, quick wit and gifted storytelling left warm and indelible impressions. Finally in 2004 and 2007 Bill's unwavering devotion to the Red Sox reaped overdue results! He graduated from GMHS in 1962. He graduated as elected valedictorian from The Maritime Forest Ranger School at Fredericton in 1972. He worked in his younger years in the fishing industry and became captain of the Michael and Eileen with his Dad as mate. He managed the Anchorage Provincial Park, which was the original birth site of his paternal great grandfather, from 1972 to 2001. Bill was politically attuned and astute and he served with distinction his beloved island community for almost twelve years serving as councilor, deputy mayor and as mayor. Over the course of many years, he worked hard at improving ferry service for the island residents. He expanded and supervised the rockweed industry for Acadia Seaplants Ltd. which provided employment for island residents and NFLD workers whom he loved and appreciated .He also represented the Island at the Business Development Cooperation for over a decade. Upon his profession of faith, Bill was baptized in the Seal Cove Baptist Church and subsequently became an active member in the Grand Harbour Baptist Church. His faith in his loving Lord sustained him in his hours of need and he carefully and prayerfully reached out to his many friends even during his illness. His spiritual life was enriched by his many Christian friends and Pastors and comforted by the television programs featuring The Gaithers, Souls' Harbor, and Dr. Jeremiah. Because of the kind supportive attention they received and on behalf of Bill, his family wish to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Grand Manan and Saint John Regional Hospitals, the Air and Land Ambulance Services, Doctors Burnell, Dapena and Loree Boyle and the crew of the Grand Manan ferries. Visiting hours will be held at Ells Funeral Home on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 18, 2007 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Gordon Walker officiating, assisted by Rev. Ron Ford, and Rev. Layne Daggett. Interment will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Seal Cove. Il était un père aimant et laisse dans le deuil ses deux fils, Philippe et Jérémi. Il manquera chèrement à son frère Stephan, ses soeurs Rose-Marie (Peter Salvatori), Marjann (Richard Zimmerman) et Marie-Paule (Yoshi Inoue). Il laisse également dans le deuil plusieurs neveux, nièces et amis. Après vingt-cinq ans de services, il était un jeune retraité d'Air Canada Cargo où il avait plusieurs amis. He was born in Abbotsford, PQ, son of the late John and Margaret (Crudden) Green. William J. Ward 1951 - 2007 William "Billy" J. Ward, 56, of Moncton, formerly of Kitchener, Ontario, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 29, 1951 in Kitchener, Ontario, he was the son of Margaret Ward of British Columbia, and Calvin Ward of Kitchener, Ontario. Billy, a life long truck driver, is also survived by his beloved wife, Brenda-Lee (Martin) Ward; his three loving children: Christopher of Ontario, William and Alisha both at home; two dear grandchildren, Brody and Jenny; a very dear friend, Sandra Bernatchez; his brothers and sisters, Randy (Aleitha) of Alberta, Pat (Donna), Wayne, Debbie (Bertin), and Holly all from BC, and Anita (Crason) of Ontario. Besides life on the highway, Billy enjoyed chatting on the computer, and spending quality time with his friends and family. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Salon funéraire Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900).
