Peter "Running Little Wolf" Quincy Flett 1978 – 2007 The family is saddened to announce Quincy passed away on November 9th, 2007 at the Health Science Center. He leaves behind his children, Randall and Lyndon; parents, John Peter and Celestina; brothers, Jeremy (Beverly), Sheldon (Mary), Jason (Christina), Byron and Darren; sisters, Malena (Percy); twin sisters, Ranita and Benita. There are also numerous uncles, nephews and nieces. Quincy is predeceased by grandparents, Louis Flett and Elizabeth (Nee) McDougall, Cubby Mason and Lydia (Nee) Flett and brother Clark. Life was sometimes difficult for Quincy. He expressed his view of the world around him through poetry. He liked listening to all genres of music. He liked to share his insights with his parents and sought guidance from his elders. The family wishes to thank the medical team that comforted Quincy on his last few days. Special thanks to the SICU personnel and Stepdown Unit. In lieu of flowers donations, may be made to the Health Science Center Gift of Life. JOHNSON, Miriam Lena March 24, 1934 - November 12, 2007 Miriam Johnson of Calgary passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, November 12, 2007 at the age of 73 years. Miriam was born in Port Arthur, Ontario and moved to Red Deer when she was three years old. In 1956 she graduated from nursing in Lamont, AB. In Grade 11 she met the love of her life, Garth and in 1957 he proposed to her, and they spent the next fifty wonderful years together. Miriam was the most loving and caring mother who dedicated her life to her four children. Miriam is survived by her three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bradley and Kathy, Craig and Lynn, Blair; her daughter Shari; and her seven grandchildren Darren, Brett, Kyley, Brock, Zack, Connor and Jessica. She is also survived by her sister Arlene and her brother Hugh. Miriam was predeceased by her husband Garth in August, 2007. DAVIS, Lindy (Gerlinda Louise, nee Bartel) Beloved wife of Jim Davis; mother of Ron, Kimberly (Cody Woodman), Amanda (Bryan Carter); beloved grandmother of Layla Gerlinda Woodman; and sister of Dietmar Bartel (Suzanne, Julian, Danielle); passed away on Friday, November 9, 2007. She is predeceased by her father Oskar Bartel in 1985, her mother Frieda in 2007 and her stepfather John Klein in 2005. Lindy was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia in 2001. The disease progressed slowly until about a year ago when it suddenly accelerated. She passed away early Friday morning, November 9, 2007 in her sleep at the age of 54. Lindy was born and grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan. She spent some summers with her grandparents Oswald and Lydia Nickel in Drake, Saskatchewan. She graduated from Campbell Collegiate High School in 1970 and attended Canadian Mennonite Bible College in Winnipeg for one year - unwillingly at first but she was later glad she went. After returning from Winnipeg she turned her eyes westward and moved to Calgary. She served a mission to Stockholm, Sweden for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from June 1976 to December 1977. Lindy and Jim met in August 1978 after being encouraged to date by a mutual family friend. They were married on December 27, 1978 and were blessed with three great children whom they raised in Calgary. Lindy loved music. She played piano for school programs, church choir and served as church organist for over twenty years. She was skilled at needlework, crocheting and sewing. She sewed for her children, her home and many others over the years. She was an avid reader and this educated her far beyond what her formal education would indicate. The Funeral will be held at the Calgary Alberta South Stake center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 14540 Parkland Boulevard S.E., Calgary on Friday, November 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Viewing will be held at the same location starting at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a charitable contribution in her memory to the charity of your choice which supports women and/or children.Published in the Calgary Herald from 11/14/2007 - 11/16/2007

HARVEY, Malvern May 18, 1923 - November 12, 2007 Malvern Harvey of Calgary passed away, surrounded by his loving children, on Monday, November 12, 2007 at the age of 84 years. Malvern Harvey was born on May 18, 1923 in Vancouver, BC. He spent most of his career as a Captain in the Royal Canadian Air Force and later as a Hospital Administrator at various hospitals across Canada. He was known for his kind nature and love of the outdoors. Malvern is lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his children, Sharon, Patricia, Ken, Brad, and Doug; his brother Harry; and their families. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Joy; sister Marion; and brother Fred. HOFER, Irene Carol ("Rene") (nee Ezeard) 1952 - 2007 Irene Carol ("Rene") Hofer, beloved wife of Joe Hofer of Airdrie, AB, passed away peacefully at Foothills Medical Centre on November 11, 2007, following a lengthy illness. Prior to her marriage to Joe in 1980, Rene spent twelve satisfying years in the employ of United Grain Growers and Food City. Following their marriage, Rene and Joe moved to Airdrie where they became equal partners not only in their marriage, but in their business - Joe-Jay's Welding Ltd. Rene is survived by her loving husband Joe; her sons Ryan (Kendra) and Justin; and by her beloved grandson Tristan. She is also survived by niece Sandra Black and her husband and family. Rene was predeceased by her mother Jean Ezeard; brothers Harold and Jim; niece Laurie; grandnephew Peter; and sister-in-law Marge Ezeard. Michela was born in Saviano, Naples, Italy. SCOTT, Marcus Bryson "Sonny" Of Mossleigh, Alberta passed away November 10, 2007 at Vulcan, Alberta at the age of 91 years. Sonny was born February 24, 1916 at Gleichen, Alberta to Bryce and Jenny Scott. He lived and worked on the family homesteaded farm until retiring in the fall of 2005. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 1997, a brother Gaylen in 1989, a sister Margaret in 2005 and his parents. Sonny is survived by two daughters Mavis (Ken) Southgate and Barb (Keith) Marsh both of Lethbridge, son Greg (Tina) of Mossleigh, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Toujours disponible pour servir ses proches comme ses clients, le calme rassurant de ce grand homme a su à maintes reprises orienter et guider nos pas, que ce soit dans nos vies personnelles ou professionnelles. Grand défenseur de la rigueur scientifique, il savait comme nul autre transmettre ses connaissances avec l'altruisme du vrai pédagogue. Diplômé de Polytechnique en 1966, il fut professeur, entrepreneur et visionnaire. Malgré les succès et les honneurs qu'il a fièrement acceptés au cours d'une carrière exemplaire, il avait su garder son franc parler et sa simplicité. Il a d'ailleurs toujours su reconnaître le support de ses proches et collègues dans l'épanouissement des entreprises Air-Ins et Patenaude-Trempe, qu'il chérissait. Que nous l'appelions papa, Armand ou respectueusement monsieur Patenaude, nous garderons le souvenir de ce chêne fort et solide sur qui nous pouvions toujours nous fier. Et Dieu sait que le chêne était pour lui non seulement l'essence d'un bois noble mais aussi une source d'inspiration, dont le fruit ornera pour toujours nos coeurs et demeures. Merci Armand pour ce que tu as su nous transmettre et profite de ce repos bien mérité que l'éternité te permettra de contempler, nous ne t'oublierons jamais... Outre son épouse Marie Doré, il laisse dans le deuil sa fille Micheline (Éric Caron), son fils Jean-Philippe et son petit-fils Olivier, ses frères et soeurs, Liliane (Hubert Brooks), Paul (Sylvie Riquier), Jean-Pierre (Carole Samson), Yolande (Robert Berger) et feu Robert (Francine Guérin), ses neveux et nièces, ses beaux-frères, belles-soeurs, ainsi que plusieurs amis, collègues et toute une industrie. PARK, John Leslie – An avid sportsman and loving family man passed away at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital on November 9, 2007. He will be greatly missed by Dale, his wife and best friend of 43 years and his children, Cindy Park (Wayne), Jim Park, and Janet Brogan (Don). John's greatest joy and pride came from his granddaughters Chloe, Lillian and Tatum Brogan; who will carry on John's passion for life, work ethic, and love of family. John is survived by his older brothers Ivan Park (Fern), Frank Park, and Harvey Park (Iona). John retired from LOF Glass in Collingwood in 2005 with 39 years of service. He loved fishing, visiting his children and horse racing. Thanks to Dr. Quigg and staff for their wonderful care and compassion. As per John's wishes cremation has taken place.
