Elle était âgée de 88 ans et comptait 68 ans de vie religieuse. Est décédée le 10 novembre 2007, au Complexe hospitalier de Chicoutimi, à l'âge de 88 ans et 18 jours, Soeur Florida Tremblay (Soeur Sainte-Anne), membre de la Congrégation des Soeurs de Notre-Dame du Bon-Conseil de Chicoutimi. La Communauté accueillera parents et ami(e)s à la maison mère de la Congrégation située au 700, rue Racine Est Chicoutimi le lundi 12 novembre 2007 de 14h à 17h et de 19h à 21h30. Le mardi 13 novembre 2007, jour des funérailles, le salon sera ouvert à compter de 13h et les funérailles auront lieu à 14h au même endroit. En 1939, Soeur Florida quitte sa famille demeurant à Saint-Joseph d'Alma, pour se consacrer à Dieu dans la vie religieuse. Elle oeuvre d'abord auprès des jeunes d'Arvida puis de Kénogami. En 1947, nous la retrouvons à Betsiamites, mission indienne sur la Côte-Nord, avant de poursuivre l'enseignement à Sainte-Anne de chicoutimi, Saint-Fulgence, Sainte-Rose-du-Nord, L'Anse-Saint-Jean. De 1957 à 1985, elle se dévoue auprès des jeunes de l'Institution Mgr-Guay à Lauzon. Depuis ce temps, c'est à notre maison mère qu'elle dépoie ses forces à servir comme sacristine. Elle est la fille de feu dame Lauretta Néron et de feu Joseph Tremblay et la soeur de feu Marie-Jeanne (feu Albénia Tremblay), feu Félix (feu Thérèse Tremblay), Florence (feu Lionel Portelance), Thérèse (feu André Chevalier), Marie-Reine (feu Fernand Pelletier), Madeleine, Simone (feu Jean Gauthier), feu Clément, Roger (Edith Tremblay). elle laisse également dans le deuil, outre les membres de sa communauté, des neveux et nièces, arrière-neveux et arrière-nièces, cousins et cousines. HUGHES, John Howard Wednesday, October 31st, 2007. Born on January 10th 1950, in Verdun Quebec, he is pre-deceased by his loving mother Annie Hughes (Blanchard) nee Cree and his father Edward Hughes. Beloved husband of Eileen (nee Wilde) for 62 years. Loving father of Pat, John (Jocelyn) and Rob. Cherished grandfather of 4 and great-grandfather of 9. Leo is survived by 4 sisters; Rev. Sisters Louise and Irene Roy, Yolande Simard (Jean Charles), and Veronique Carnois (Bernard). Predeceased by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. SHOULDICE, Charles "Chuck" Nesbitt October 22, 1929 - November 7, 2007 Peacefully at St. Patrick's Home in his 79th year. Dearly cherished father of Steven (Lynn) and Lori Ann McGurran (Paul). Lovingly remembered and greatly missed by grandchildren Stephanie Shouldice and David McGurran, as well as his two sisters Kay Henry (Carmen) and Muriel Nesbitt (Duncan). Predeceased by his parents John and Thelma, brother Alan (Betty) and former spouse Joan (nee Levesque). Chuck retired from 25 years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1973 and subsequently worked for the Federal Government before his early retirement. Although his abilities were limited from his struggle with MS, Chuck enjoyed playing cards, attending Ottawa 67's games with Steven, and could be seen riding his scooter around his home at Lynwood Manor in Bells Corners, often with young grandson David riding with him. He later moved from Lynwood but soon made many friends at St. Patrick's Home. He never forgot a name and always remembered details. Chuck is fondly remembered as a wonderful man who never complained and always greeted everyone with a smile and those twinkling blue eyes. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Tuesday, November 13th at Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) at 2 p.m. A reception will follow in the Pinecrest Reception Room. OBITUARY GERALD JAMES (GERRY) ADAMS Born in Montreal on October 27, 1934. Passed away after a brief illness in St. John's, Newfoundland on October 17, 2007. Gerry was predeceased by his wife Helga Brammann in 1983 and by his parents Tillie McClelland (David) and Bruce Adams (Edna). Leaving to mourn are his children Dr. Russell Adams (Dr. Michele Mercer) of St John's Newfoundland, Darlene (Ron Balzer) of New York, and Cindy of Montreal. Gerry was the proud and loving grandfather of Amy, Margot, Jagger and Breck. Gerry was a long time employee of the Bank of Montreal (main office, Place d'Armes) and a resident of Crawford Park, Verdun. He was a long time member of the Verdun Friendly Bowling League, the Canadian Legion and a variety of other service organizations. In 2006, after 40 some odd years of living in Crawford Park, Gerry uprooted and moved to St John's Newfoundland, where this good natured and very friendly man made many new friends and enjoyed a happy life. OBITUARY George Blanchard 1927 - 2007 Passed away at Lakeshore General Hospital on Wednesday November 7, 2007. A Korean War Veteran with the Royal 22nd Regiment's Airborne Battalion. George was an avid hockey and baseball fan since the days of the Maroons and Royals. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, his children Lee-Anne, Robert, and Ronald, his grandchildren Daniel and Michele, daughters-in-law Maureen and Teresa, as well as his brothers Raymond and Philip, sisters Agnes and Alice, along with his many nephews and nieces. Après ses études classiques au Petit Séminaire de Chicoutimi et ses études théologiques au Grand Séminaire du même endroit, l'abbé Éleucippe Gagnon a été ordonné prêtre le 31 mai 1947 en l'église Sacré-Coeur de Chicoutimi par Mgr Georges Melançon. Il passa d'abord une année au Séminaire de Chicoutimi puis il fut nommé vicaire aux Éboulements, Charlevoix (1948 à 1952) puis à la Malbaie (1953). Après quoi, il fut aumônier de diverses institutions: Institut familial à St-Irénée (1953-1956); Pensionnat St-Dominique de Jonquière (1956-1959); Frères de St-François-Régis (1959-1962); Maison régionale des Soeurs de la Présentation (1962-1965). Il devint curé par la suite, en premier lieu à St-Eugène D'Argentenay, de octobre 1965 à décembre 1970 puis ensuite à St-Ambroise de 1971 à 1982 alors qu'il a pris sa retraite. Après avoir vécu dans sa résidence personnelle de St-Ambroise jusqu'en octobre 1992, il continua sa retraite avec quelques confrères prêtres, d'abord au Séminaire Marie-Reine-du-Clergé, jusqu'en 2001, puis chez les Soeurs Antoniennes de Marie, à la Résidence Mgr-Paré où il vient de nous quitter. Une personne bénévole sera présente au salon afin de recueillir vos dons en faveur de la Caisse d'entraide sacerdotale du Diocèse de Chicoutimi. BURKE, THOMAS ALOYISUS (T.A.) Thomas Aloyisus (T. A.) Burke of Geary, NB born 18 August 1931 in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, son of Thomas and Eliza Jane (MacDonald) was suddenly called to be with our Lord on 8 November 2007 to be with his beloved daughter Gladys. T.A. is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Shirley (Skanes), son-in-law Karl Toole (Oromocto, NB), daughter Shirley-Anne (Doug) Weber (Westbank, BC), sons Tim (Donna) Arlington, VA and Mark (Gail) (Edmonton AB), seven grandchildren Kevin and Stephen Toole, Sean and Greg Weber, Derek (Jocelyne) and Brent Burke and Ashley Burke, three great-grandchildren, brother Gerard (Marion) (Glace Bay). He is predeceased by daughter Gladys, his parents, brothers Ronald, Johnny and Walter, and sisters Marguerite and Marlene. A veteran of the CAF, T.A. was an active member of the NB Black Watch Assn and Royal Canadian Legion Branch #93. He was an avid sportsman and athlete and was a qualified umpire and referee. T.A. loved all sports, especially watching his sons and grandsons play. A member of St. John's Anglican Church, he sang in the choir for many years. He will be greatly missed and remembered as a generous and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Lloyd Parsons 1919-2007 We celebrate with honor and gratitude a life well lived! Lloyd Parsons passed away peacefully in his own home the morning of Nov.9, 2007. Robert Lloyd was born on October 6, 1919, in Moncton, the only son of Jesse Fenwick (1887-1975) and Beatrice Louise (Birnie) Parsons ( d.1974). Lloyd was educated at Mount Allison ('41), Nova Scotia Tech ('44), and then Massachusetts Institute of Technology ('48) for a Master of Science degree in Building Engineering & Construction, with focus on town planning and pre-fab housing. Lloyd was always a progressive thinker, and his years in the construction industry bear witness to this. As a young engineer with Parsons Construction, he was an active member of the Association of Professional Engineers, the Engineering Institute of Canada, and the Canadian Construction Association. In 1950 he joined the Think Tank that diligently hammered out the first National Building Code for Canada. He was full of ideas for a new vision of Moncton's direction, and was instrumental in founding Moncton's Town Planning Commission. He and his father Jesse had made national headlines with their innovative pre-fab design and construction of the war-time housing on West Lane - 100 new houses in 66 days! In his 45 years with Parsons Construction Company, he helped build the many facets of Moncton - including hotels, restaurants, churches, sports arenas, offices, seniors' residences, stores & plants. Lloyd retired from Parsons Construction, but offered his engineering skills to a variety of projects in the area, most notably the restoration project of the Free Meeting House, and the upgrade of the Thomas William House. Lloyd and wife Brenda researched and published their book "Moncton's Civic Treasure: The Free Meeting House" to record the history of Moncton's oldest public building. Beyond the daily activities revolving around the engineering and construction industry, or the activities involved in raising 6 children, Lloyd was involved in many activities in the community, such as the Moncton Underwater Diving Club, Emergency Measures Organization, Power Squadron, Moncton Rotary Club, Probus Club, Shediac Bay Yacht Club, Drew Nursing Home, Dobson Hiking Trail Association, and several dancing groups, travel groups, and historical societies. Yes, we have much to be grateful for - a good man, husband, father, friend, and Monctonian. Survived by his wife, Brenda Betty (Burgess) Parsons of Moncton; son Lloyd Lee (Christine "Kiffy" Oliver) Parsons of Toronto and their son David; daughter Brenda Lynn (Peter) Belliveau of Moncton and her children Peter & Suzanne; son James Fenwick (Eleanor Tinkham) Parsons of Dartmouth and their children, Hannah and Max; son Jay Irving (Joanne Marks) Parsons of Guelph and Jay's children, Christopher and James by his 1st wife, Joyce Taylor Parsons; daughter, Betty Alice (Dave) Albiston of Enfield and their son, Jesse; son, Alexander John (Sandra Stewart) Parsons of Dartmouth and their children, Nicholas and Katherine "Katie"; Lloyd's brother-in-law, Alexander J. Lilly of Moncton, and nieces, Patricia Hassel of California and Joan (Ray) Homer of Ontario. Besides his parents, Lloyd was pre-deceased by his infant sister, Beatrice (1914-1914); sisters, Joyce Irene Parsons (1926-1945) and Genevieve Louise Lilly (1917-2007). Special thanks to Beth Lopez for her compassion and constant professional care. In keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no public funeral service. The family will be having a private gathering at a later date. SMITH, Jeffrey Grant - Passed away with his family at his side on November 6, 2007, after a long illness. Jeffrey was the beloved husband of Adair Ireland-Smith of Peterborough, ON and the loving father of Malcolm of Grande Prairie, AB and Ashley of Toronto, ON. Born in Eugene, OR on January 7, 1954, Jeffrey was the son of Virginia E. Smith of Cary, NC (late Grant), and son-in-law of Phylis and Victor Ireland of Peterborough. Jeffrey will be missed by his family - by his brothers Scott (Mary) of Port Orchard, WA and Brad (Cheryl) of Fort Collins, CO, by his sisters Jennifer Cole (Steve) of Cary, NC, and Kim Egan (Mike) of Apple Valley, CA, by his dear brother-in- law David Ireland (Janice) of Houston, TX and by his many nieces and nephews. Jeffrey was a talented artist who used both cartoons and portraiture to capture people as they truly were. He was a gifted writer of poetry and children's stories. He was a self- taught musician able to play about any instrument he picked up. Jeffrey was a man of passions - for his family, for his art, for politics (Canadian and American), for history, especially of the American Civil War, and for good conversation, laced with wit, humor, and insight. A celebration of Jeffrey's life will be held on Saturday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation at 1 p.m. at HIGHLAND PARK VISITATION/ RECEPTION CENTRE ( 2510 Bensfort Road at River Road South). SZOT, Mary Bernadette (nee Peters) - In loving memory of Mary Bernadette Szot (nee Peters), 82 years, who passed away Thursday, November 8th, 2007 at her daughter's residence in Toronto. A devout Roman Catholic she faithfully attended Christ the King Parish. She was a passionate lover of choral singing and a member of many choirs including the church choir, the Interlink choir and her beloved Northern Echoes Choir. Always quick to help others she was involved in the Boy Scout Movement and volunteered with many local schools programs. Mary was a well known and active member of Club III at St. Andrew's Place. As an inspired artistic person she created beautiful quilts, embroideries and painted fabric arts. Mary will be remembered for her gentle loving spirit and she will be missed but never forgotten. Beloved wife of Jan Szot predeceased 1992.
