He was a 34 year employee of Niagara Bronze and he was an avid fan of the Buffalo Sabres and Formula 1 racing. He also enjoyed cycling. Heather Marion Poppleton died at the age of 66 at the Temiskaming Hospital October 25, 2007 following a brave battle with cancer. Mrs. Poppleton enjoyed time spent in her garden and was an avid reader. She will be remembered for her love of decorating. KITCHEN, EVERETT LAWRENCE It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Everett L. Kitchen at the Dr. Everett Chalmers hospital, Thursday November 1st, 2007 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Fredericton on November 17th, 1939, raised in Longs Creek Prince/William where he obtained his early schooling and attended high school in Harvey. Everett is survived by his wife of 43 years, Donna (Allen), daughter Patty of Blacksburg Virginia; granddaughter Carly Mackenzie Hannah; sister Velda Chase (Earl) of Fredericton, Several nieces nephews, cousins and step brother James Lawrence. Also survived by Brother-in-Law Colin Allen (Donna) of Murray Corner and Gary Allen(Jeanne) of Berry Mills. He was predeceased by his father Mott Kitchen mother Annie Lawrence and only son Jeffrey Kitchen. Everett was employed from the age of 17 with Gunters Plumbing where he obtained his industrial training certificate in Plumbing and later his Master Plumbing license. He later acquired the business, expanding until he took on a business partner in the seventies. He was later employed by Falcon Petroleum and until his demise. Phoenix Petroleum. Licensed as a petroleum storage system installer and in service station maintenance, he worked with the provincial government training and licensing installers in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario through Community Colleges. He was also certified in Dangerous Goods and Waste management. He will be remembered by his co-workers at Phoenix as the man who didn't know when to quit. He would not take time to eat when a job needed to be done, thus they had to continue to work, as they could not let the "Old Fellow" out do them. He was known as "Big Daddy" to those, which he worked with. Love of Family and work was his passion but he enjoyed hunting, fiddleheading with his friends Bob, and in building, welding many creations in his spare time. He thoughtfully enjoyed his leisure time at the beachfront on the Northumberland Straight at Murray Corner for many summers weekends and Holidays. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church, Fredericton. Family would like to thank Drs Gordon Plummer and Sarah Cosh, nurses and staff of the 4 SW and 3E for their caring hands and words during this difficult time and to the Extra Mural during his short period home for their wonderful care. Resting at Bishops Funeral Home on Sunday November 4th from 2-4, & 7-9 PM. The service will be held at 2:00 PM from St. Paul's United Church Fredericton, NB. on Monday November 5th 2007. 224 York St. with Rev. Paul Ross officiating. GRUNWELL, Mary Dickson Hunter. With her constant strength, determination and dignity, and in the loving arms of her family, Mary ("May") Dickson Hunter (nee Binnie) passed away peacefully on October 31, 2007. May was born January 20, 1915 in Wallacestone, Scotland, and she proudly served in the Women's Air Force, as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and oh, how she did love to walk! Predeceased by her husband Harry in 1991, she leaves behind to cherish the warm memories of her life, her loving son Iain and his wife Marie, her adoring granddaughters Sarah and Caroline, and many nieces and nephews in Scotland. Many thanks to all who gave her special care and friendship as she lived with Alzheimer's for the last years of her life. Il fut prédécédé par sa conjointe, Fleurette Asselin; la mère de ses enfants: Joyce Fletcher; son frère, Rhéaume (Réjeanne Lafontaine) et par sa soeur, Huguette (Harold Ash). OBITUARY MIRIAM JOSEPHINE NAYLOR (nee REID) Passed away peacefully on October 20, 2007 in her one hundred and fifth year. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy Reid and predeceased by her husband Edgar, her brother Lewis, her sister Dorothea, and recently (October 11, 2007) her nephew Rev. Canon David Reid (Patti). Also beloved Auntie Mir of Glenna Vipond (John) and Tom Reid (Rose Ann). Dear great- Auntie Mir of Tom and Shelley, Elizabeth and Mary, Angela, Tim and Alison and great-great aunt of nine nieces and nephews. She graduated from Macdonald College Teacher Training School and Royal Victoria Hospital School of Nursing where she received her RN. She devoted herself to nursing, worked tirelessly on their farm in St. Armand, Quebec and provided idyllic summer-long vacations for her niece and the twin nephews on "The Farm". At the age of eighty and for the next fifteen years, she and her sister began to take three month, twenty five thousand kilometre adventure trips exploring the whole of North America by car. Her particular love was the Canadian North where her husband was born. Their extensive travels kept the rest of her family entranced. Auntie Mir was a woman of great faith, an exceptional and special person, a happy, gentle soul, finding only the best in everyone and inspiring and raising the spirits of all who knew her. She will be warmly remembered for her kindness, friendly smile and twinkling eyes, her love of nature, her devotion to family, friends and Church. In the mid 1990s, she was honoured to receive the Bishop's Award in recognition for her constant contribution to the work of the Church. Heartfelt thanks to Susan and Marianne Woods, their family and staff at Susan Woods Seniors Care Residence and Dr. Ron Hryniowski for their wonderful and loving care to Auntie Mir during her final years in Hudson, QC. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at St. James' Anglican Church, Philipsburg, Quebec. Edna Watson Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the age of 79 years, Mrs. Edna Irene Watson, nee McFayden, died at Temiskaming Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren, her parents Clare and Ruth McFayden, and sisters Dorothy Conlin and Edith McFayden. She is survived by sons Clifford Watson (Donna) of Orillia, and Dan Watson of New Liskeard, daughter Joyce Hall (John) of Ottawa, and sisters Ina Carter of New Liskeard and Gladys Cahill of Lindsay. Lovingly remembered by Carol Watson, grandsons Jeremy Hall (Pam) and Jeffrey Hall (Joanna), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will welcome friends at the Perrin Funeral Chapel on Whitewood Ave. on Friday, October 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., with the service at Perrin’s Chapel on Saturday, October 27 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Micol Cottrell of St. Paul’s United Church. SILVESTRI, George E. - In loving memory of George E. Silvestri, on Tuesday morning October 30th, 2007 at Extendicare York St. Sudbury. Beloved husband of Cecile (nee Lamothe) Silvestri of Copper Cliff. Loving father of Carrie (husband Jean Audette) of North Bay. Predeceased by his parents Dominic and Maria (nee Bevilacque) Silvestri and by his brother Victor Silvestri and his wife Evelyn (nee Darrach). Special uncle to Mary (husband Carl) of Toronto. George was born and raised in Copper Cliff, Ontario. He married Cecile (Lamothe) in Espanola in 1971. He worked as a material coordinator for INCO Ltd. for over 30 years retiring in 1987. George was a member of the Council of Canadians, INCO Quarter Century Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his younger years he was a member of the Sudbury Skeet Shooting Club and he enjoyed playing his banjo in local musical bands. George will be sadly missed and never forgotten. A special thank you to his lifelong friend the late Duilio Gattoni for his daily visits and support, also to Extendicare Nurses and staff for the wonderful care given to George during his illness. She was the daughter of the late Frances and Samuel Nichols. She will be missed by her daughter-in-law, Gertrude “Trudy“ Waters; brother-in-law, Walter Shirley; sister-in-law Kathleen Preston; grand-daughters, Cheryl, Maureen, Janet and Cindy; 10 great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, James Waters; sons, Brian, Francis and Keith; daughter Catherine. She was a wonderful, devoted mother and grandmother. She had a great love of nature and dogs.
