CREIGHTON, Vera May (nee Stephens) - It is with sadness that the family of Vera Creighton announce her passing on Friday, November 2, 2007 in her 98th year at the Peterborough Region Health Center (Hospital Drive Site). Beloved wife of the late John Peter (Jim) Creighton (1988). Loving mother of Joan and her husband Frank Lucas. Cherished grandmother of Timothy Lucas and his wife Deborah, Grant Lucas and his wife Robin, Richard Lucas and his wife Susan. Caring great- grandmother of Emily, Ben, Madeline, Jacob, and Olivia Lucas, Jocelyn (Josie) and her husband Nairn Florence and Geoffrey Figuroa. Dear aunt of Linton (Marion) Herron, Grant (Helen) Herron, and Reginald (Betty Anne) Hillman. Sister-in-law of Norma Creighton and Ena Parcher of Kingston. Predeceased by her parents Ernest Grant Stephens and Mary Beatrice Crowe and also by her sisters Alice Herron, Beatrice Stephens and Edna Hillman. For over 50 years a resident of the Stoney-Lake Nephton area, Vera, an Ottawa Civic Hospital Nurse, was often the first one called upon when a neighbour was ill. She obtained her elementary teaching certificate from the Peterborough Normal School in the early 1940's and taught school at S.S.#1B Burleigh, at the head of Stoney Lake, for nine years. She was also employed as secretary-bookkeeper at Indusmin for several years. Vera and her husband Jim moved to Peterborough in 1988. Vera was a founding member of the Nephton Women's Institute; a life member of the Carmel United Church Women; a member of George St. United Church and George St. U.C.W. She was a past matron of the Peterborough Chapter #161 - Order of the Eastern Star. Friends are invited to call at the KAYE FUNERAL HOME “Memorial Chapel“ 539 George St. N., on Tuesday from 7 - 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 1 - 2 p.m. at George St. United Church. CAZABON, Antoinette (née Lachance) - 1924-2007 - The family announces with sorrow her death, Saturday November 3 2007, in Sturgeon Falls, at the age of 83 years. Daughter of the late Albert and of the late Eva (née Forest) Lachance. Wife of the late Valmore Cazabon. Loving mother of Benoit (Judy), Lyse Cazabon and Guylaine Ranger (Richard) all of Gatineau, Francine Cazabon-Bernier (Peter) and Nicole Restoule (late Fred DeLuca) both of Sudbury, Catherine Cazabon, Charlotte Cazabon (Zahir) and André (Christine) all of Ottawa, Jovette Beaudry (Gaetan) of Sturgeon Falls, Pierre (Lise) of Verner and Brigitte Nikitin (Jamie) of Burlington. Predeceased by her brothers and sisters Léo, Lucien, Roland, Oscar, Marguerite and Thérèse. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and only great-great grandchild. Mrs. Cazabon was formerly employed by Le Centre des Jeunes as cook at the youth camp at L'Ile aux Chênes. She also taught courses in Culinary Arts for Canadore College in Sturgeon Falls and the Verner area. FROST, Elinor Josephine (nee Taylor) - Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, Elinor Frost went home to be with her Savior and Lord on November 2, 2007 in her 84th year. Elinor is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Rev. Carl Frost. She was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Emma Taylor, brother, Gordon Taylor of Minnedosa, MB. Loving mother of Donald (Joanne), Douglas (Grace) and Brian (Sheila), eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Elinor is also survived by her sister, F. BROWN, Lilyan (nee Willmore) - Lilyan, in her 96th year after a lengthy illness at the Northumberland Hills Hospital. Survived by her sister-in-law Caroline Willmore, niece Susan (Douglas Campbell) of Oakville, great aunt to Cameron Campbell of Oakville, Blair Campbell (Liz Leiba) and daughter Trinity of Vancouver and best friend Millie Smith of Cobourg. Predeceased by husband Ed and siblings Daisy, Thomas, Ellen and George. MAYO, Phyllis Madeline Annie (nee Magladry) (Retired from Canadian Transport Commission, The Rehabilitation Institute, Bank of Canada.) Peacefully on November 3, 2007, secure in her faith in everlasting life. A dynamo into her 85th year, she is deeply missed by her cherished daughter Colleen, devoted son-in-law David Pankhurst, treasured granddaughters Victoria (Glenn Scott) and Natasha, brother Mib, sisters-in-law Edie and Kaye, many nieces and nephews. Remembered in thanksgiving for her unconditional love, quiet compassion, humble service, constant friendship, quick wit, fun-loving nature, radiant smile, unshakeable integrity, and pride in her family; she confronted prejudice, championed the rights of animals, and upheld the dignity of the mentally and physically challenged before it became common to do so. Phyllis was predeceased by her beloved husband Percy "Bud", parents Charles and Emma (Navan, Ontario), brothers Earl and Eric, best friends Ethel Hamilton and Audrey Miller. McCOY, LEORA MAUDE (CURTIS) A gracious woman who retained honor. She left her family a greater inheritance than wealth could ever obtain, "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above Rubies". She left a Christian foundation on which to build our futures. When we were sick, she prayed, When we were in trouble, she prayed, When we were upset, she prayed, When someone done us wrong, she prayed. She opened her mouth in skillful and Godly wisdom and on her tongue was the law of kindness; she stretched out her hand to the poor. Her children rise up and call her Blessed. Born and raised in Grey Rapids on the Miramichi, she left home as a young lady at the age of 19 to move to Fredericton where she and Donald became husband and wife. Now it is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our Dearly Beloved Mother, Leora Maude McCoy (Curtis) at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on November 3rd, 2007. Born May 14th, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Howard David and Violet (Smallwood) Curtis. She is survived by her nine children, Joy Nash (Donald), Richibucto Road, Cam (Linda) Noonan, Eugene (Susan) Mazerolle Settlement, Dwight (Debbie) Noonan, Gregg (Joanne) Alberta, Aubrey (Shirley) Keswick, Gaye Piercy (Dale) Noonan, Beverly Monteith (Allison) Keswick and Rita Comeau (Norm) Penniac. Her memory will be forever treasured by her 35 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by four sisters, Frances Betts of Fredericton, Lillian Sturgeon of Blackville, Phoebe (Perley) Clowater of McNamee and Eloise McLeod of Ontario; one brother, Burns Curtis (Donna) of Ontario. MASCHI, Cesare - Surrounded by the love of his family and in the loving care of the staff of Rideaucrest Home, Cesare Maschi died peacefully on November 3, 2007. Born in Bettola, Italy in 1922, Cesare lived a rich and full life. He immigrated to Canada in 1951 after serving in WWII as a Partisan Freedom Fighter. In 1952 he married Adele Armani and raised a family of 3 daughters Anna (Michael Walsh), Clare (Michael Popovich) and Cesarina (Ces) (Vince Kidd). He loved his family and was a wonderful Nonno to his grandchildren Sarah, Laura and Angela Walsh, Mark, Michael and Lauren Kidd and Michael Popovich. Cesare worked hard until his retirement at age 65 in the cement and tile industry with Spada Tile. His passions included wine making, gardening and small game hunting. Cesare was predeceased by his brother Ugo and sister Chiara and will be greatly missed by his brother Celso (Anna) Maschi, his sister- in-law Carla Maschi and best friend Carlo Delonghi and their families and many nieces and nephews. Chester Wheaton WHEATON SETTLEMENT, NB - Chester Havelock Wheaton, 84, of Wheaton Settlement passed away Saturday, November 3, 2007 at home. Born in Wheaton Settlement he was a son of the late Fred and Stella (Geldart) Wheaton. Chester worked for many years at the former Lounsbury's Furniture in Petitcodiac and retired from the Department of Transportation. He attended the Wheaton Settlement Baptist Church and was an honorary director of the Wheaton Settlement Cemetery. He was a member and Past Master of the Steven Lodge No. 37 F&AM, Petitcodiac, a member of the Shrinners and the Ivanhoe and Walton York Rite. He was also a member of the Frank H. Tingley Chapter of the Eastern Star. Survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Alice (nee Jones); daughters, Brenda Armstrong (Wayne) of Petitcodiac, Barbara MacCallum (Ivan) of Rockyford A.B., Sandra Wheaton (Victor Cox) of Intervale; grandchildren, Pam Eleniak, Dani Wheaton, Becki Wheaton and Peter MacCallum; great grandchildren, Alicen, Sheldon, Blake and Cameron; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his twin brother, Lester; and a brother, Elmer. Daniel Louis "Dan" Gallant 1985 - 2007 KINGSTON, NS - Daniel Louis "Dan" Gallant, 22, of Kingston, NS, passed away due to a tragic car accident on Wednesday, October 31, 2007. He was the beloved son of Louis and Patricia "Trish" (Spencer) Gallant. Born in Middleton, NS on January 21, 1985, Dan attended school in the Greenwood area. He spent five years in Panama City, Florida where he graduated from Mosley High School in 2003. He was working at Convergys at the time of his death. Dan is survived by his devoted sister, Laura Gallant, Halifax; grandparents, Hubie and Greg Barr, Moncton, NB; Laura Spencer, Barrie, ON; great grandparents, Freda and Lawrence Croft, Gaspereau. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who will all miss him dearly. He was predeceased by grandfathers, Frank Spencer and Arthur Gallant. Dan was a humorist and we request that you should wear red in his memory as that was his favorite color. Dan enjoyed reading his Manga magazines and playing video games with his many friends. HOVEY, RONALD EDWARD The passing of Ronald Edward Hovey, of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Ethel Marion (Skidmore) Hovey, occurred on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on April 24, 1924, in Devon, NB, he was the son of the late Merlin and Minnie Olive (McKeil) Hovey. Ronald was a graduate of Fredericton High School, class of 1941. Following high school, he was hired by CIBC and also joined the Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve. Ronald served in Halifax from 1943 until the end of the war. In 1945 he returned to the CIBC until his retirement in 1983. Ronald is survived by two sisters, Mabel Sloat and Winnifred McSorley both of Fredericton, NB; along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Ronald was predeceased by one sister, Helen Howe. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB, on Monday, November 5, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. DROST, RUSSELL ALLEN Russell Drost ("Honky"), of Midland, Queens County, Husband of Dianne (McAllister) Drost, passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton on Sunday, November 4, 2007. He was born in Rothwell, Queens County, on August 20, 1940, the son of the late Calvin and Elizabeth (Kincade) Drost. Russell was a driver for Sunbury Transport for many years, and for the last several years, worked with Vernon Bishop Towing in Chipman. As well as his wife, Russell is survived by his sons, Derrick (Nancy) and their daughters, Rhonda, Katie-Jo and Shelby, Chipman and Clifton (Kim) and sons, Aaron and Sheldon, Minto; also surviving are two brothers, Sterling (Lydia) of Burtts Corner and Calvin Jr. (Janet) of Minto; and sister, Linda (Beverly) Smith of Minto; one aunt, Mrs. Ruth Drost, Fredericton; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Annie McAllister, Minto; sister-in-law, Marianne Lewis, Toronto; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins; and a wide circle of friends. He was predeceased by his parents; an infant daughter, Rhonda; and an infant son, Russell Jr.; his sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Blakeney; father-in-law, Harry McAllister. MONTEFRESCO, Maria October 21, 1950 - November 2, 2007 Maria Montefresco, of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Friday, November 2, 2007 after a courageous battle with CADASIL, at the age of 57 years. She was born on October 21, 1950, in Acri Cosenza, Italy. After the early passing of her mother in 1957, she later immigrated with her brother Francesco to Canada in 1962, to join their father. In 1969, she met and married the love of her life Giovanni. Together they shared three beautiful children, two daughters and a son, all whom Maria took great pride in devoting her life to. Her family was without a doubt of the utmost importance and a joy to Maria. Everyone recognized that she was an amazing cook and enjoyed nothing more than to entertain a house full of family and friends. Her inner strength allowed her to go above and beyond for everyone and working hard was in her nature. With a smile on her face and a warm loving heart, she greeted everyone with open arms. Besides her husband Giovanni, she leaves behind her daughter Serafina and son-in-law Chris Yuzicapi, her daughter Francesca, and her son Antonio and daughter-in-law Samantha. She will be especially missed by her grandchildren, Alyssa, Tayla, Faith, Levi, Earl, Jayden and her unborn grandson. Maria is also survived by the loving mother who raised her, Annunziata Perri, her brother Aurelio (Andrea) Perri, her brother-in-law Guiseppe (Lorna) Montefresco, all of Calgary. As well, very dear to her heart were her mother-in-law Serafina Succurro, her brother-in-law Gildo (Angela) Montefresco, and brother-in-law Saverio (Anna) Montefresco all of Cosenza, Italy. She will be greatly missed by her Aunt and Uncle, Giuseppina and Frank Secreti (who loved Maria like a daughter). Maria had nine nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and countless cousins both in Canada and Italy. She was predeceased by her mother Francesca Fusaro, her father Fedele Perri and her brother Francesco Perri. Maria's smile, her loving nature and genuine kindness for others, will forever live in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. You were so tired and now your suffering is over and with us we take only loving memories of your beautiful soul. May you rest in peace sweet angel.
