WENER, Marilyn (nee Friedman). Peacefully at the Jewish General Hospital on Saturday, November 3, 2007. Daughter of the late Florence and the late Arthur Friedman. Dearly beloved wife of Edgar Wener. Devoted mother and mother in law of Jonathan and Susan Wener, Pamela and Jack Fridman. Loving grandmother of Jacqueline and Andrew Bronstein, Katherine Wener, Alexandra and Patrick Dussault; Carly, Justin and Daniel Fridman. Great grandmother of Jonah Bronstein. Cherished sister and sister in law of Stanton and the late Diana Friedman and Harriet Wener. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched. The family would like to extend their special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at the Jewish General Hospital who were so attentive and kind to her in her final year. JONES, Lelynn “Lee“ - of Cape Croker, suddenly at his residence on Saturday, November 3rd, 2007. Lelynn David Norman Jones was in his 43rd year. Cherished son of Wilma Jones (Wabigwan), of Orillia, and Norman Jones, of Lion's Head. Much loved brother of Timothy Jones, of Cape Croker, and John Jones and his wife Tracey, of London. McCRAE, Armour Livingstone - Mayor, City of Welland, Ontario 1953-58 Passed away, on Saturday November 3, 2007, at Toronto, in his 91 year. Armour is survived by his beloved wife Heather (nee Montgomery), and his two loving sons and their families: Armour and Eydie McCrae of Guelph and grand-daughter Cara (Mike); James McCrae of Barrie, daughter-in-law Brooke McCrae and grandson Jamie of Brampton; and by his two loving daughters and their families: Wendy and Bruce Dunning of Newmarket and grand-daughters Abbey and Rebecca; and Donna Creighton of Toronto; and by his daughter-in-law Margaret McCrae and grand-daughter Jessica. Predeceased by his cherished first wife Jessie King (Mains) McCrae, and by his son Nichol. Son of the late Nichol and Emily McCrae of Welland, dear brother of Margaret McCrae Moro and Rudy Moro of London. Predeceased by brothers Alex, James and Charles. Of all positions aspired to or later achieved, being Mayor of the City of Welland was always first and foremost in his heart, and the one for which he wishes most to be remembered. Elected President of the then Association of Ontario Mayors and Reeves 1956-57. In 1958, as Mayor he presided over the centennial celebrations of the city, and in that same year was the first to be honoured in receiving the Citizen of the Year Award for Welland-Crowland. He was invited by the Queen to attend her Coronation at Westminster Abbey, and was the recipient of the coronation medal. A well-known after-dinner and convention speaker, he addressed the British Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in Belfast, Ireland in 1953. On two occasions he was the speaker representing Canada (France and the United States also being represented) at the Annual Flag Day Celebration at Old Fort Niagara, Youngstown, NY, USA. Armour always promoted a better understanding between English and French-speaking Canada, and to that end, was instrumental in “twinning“ the city of Welland with the Québec city of Sorel. Member and Vice-Chairman of the Ontario Municipal Board 1958-83; seconded from the Board to be Chief Hearing Officer for the Parkway Belt West hearings in 1976, and seconded again to be Chief Hearing Officer for the Niagara Escarpment Plan hearings from 1980-83. Friends may call on Tuesday, November 6, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the R.S. KANE FUNERAL HOME (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). MacNEILL, Jacqueline “Marcelle“ (nee Dionne) - In loving memory of Jacqueline “Marcelle“ MacNeill (nee Dionne), 91 years. The family announces with sadness, the passing of Marcelle, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother on Saturday morning, November 3rd, 2007 at the SRH - St. Joseph's Health Centre. Marcelle was born in Field Ontario, brought up and educated in Sudbury and was a resident of Levack for 63 years. She was a devout member of St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church. In her younger days Marcelle was a lay-reader and minister of communion to the sick and shut-ins. Our Mum was a chartered member of the C.W.L. and of the Order of Royal Purple, a long time member of the Onaping Falls Golden Age Club. Her greatest hobbies were gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, walking and catering to birds, especially hummingbirds. She leaves behind daughter Carole Anne Priddle (Ross), daughter-in-law Judy (Kent predeceased), Raymond (Yvonne), Bill (Roberta) and Kevin. Cherished grandmother of 12 grandchildren, Cathy, George (Lorrie), David (Tanya), Bill Jr. (Kori), Eric (Jodie), Ryan (Dana), Jeff (predeceased) (Linda), Derek (Tracy), Kent Jr. (Chantal), Debbie Lynn, Mary (Predeceased), Fiona and Alexis and 14 great grandchildren, Amy, Katie, Jake, Torin, Cabot, Eden, Connor, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Cassandra, Meghan, Erica, Kennedie and Justin. GRATTON, Kathleen June (nee) Mayes - Peacefully passed away at the Brantford General Hospital on Saturday November 3, 2007. Predeceased by her husband the late John Elgin Gratton (1966). Née à Barachois, le 6 mai 1916, elle était fille de feu Phillippe et Élodie (Lirette) Brun. Elle était membre du club d'âge d'or de Grand-Barachois. Elle sera beaucoup manquée par ses deux filles: Florence Doiron (Jean-Paul) et Léonne Doiron tous de Grand-Barachois; cinq fils: Yvon (Donna) de Moncton, Auguste (feu Jeannette) de Cocagne, Ovide (Carole) de Alexandria, ON, Normand (Carmel) de Grand-Barachois, Marcel (Bernice Cann) de Dorchester; deux soeurs: Florine Noiles de Grand-Barachois, et Gilberte Cole (Carl) de Sarnia, ON, deux frères: Jean-Baptiste Brun de Shédiac et Aurèle Brun de Niagara Falls, ON, vingt-trois petits-enfants, trente-sept arrière-petits-enfants, trois arrière-arrière-petits-enfants, ainsi que plusieurs nièces et neveux. McCOY, LEORA MAUDE (CURTIS) A gracious woman who retained honor. She left her family a greater inheritance than wealth could ever obtain, "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above Rubies". She left a Christian foundation on which to build our futures. When we were sick, she prayed, When we were in trouble, she prayed, When we were upset, she prayed, When someone done us wrong, she prayed. She opened her mouth in skillful and Godly wisdom and on her tongue was the law of kindness; she stretched out her hand to the poor. Her children rise up and call her Blessed. Born and raised in Grey Rapids on the Miramichi, she left home as a young lady at the age of 19 to move to Fredericton where she and Donald became husband and wife. Now it is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our Dearly Beloved Mother, Leora Maude McCoy (Curtis) at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on November 3rd, 2007. Born May 14th, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Howard David and Violet (Smallwood) Curtis. Leo Charles Murphy 1922-2007 RICHIBUCTO, NB - The death of Leo Charles Murphy, 85, of Richibucto and Lions Nursing Home, Rexton, occurred at the home October 31, 2007. Born in Mimimegash, Prince Edward Island April 15, 1922 Leo was the son of late John and Catherine(Jones) Murphy. Leo was a Janitor for over 20 years with the Richibucto RCMP. A kindly gentle man. Leo ran errands, mowed, raked and shoveled for many Richibucto Residents. He was a devoted church person, delivering Sunday bulletins to one and all. Leo was also a former member of the Rexton Golden Age Club. Along with a host of friends, Leo is survived by nieces; grand-nieces; cousins; and two special caregivers, Bill LeGoff and Stuart Ward. SZYPOWSKI, Michal January 4, 1919 - November 1, 2007 Veteran of WWII, Polish 1st Armoured Division Passed away at Kingston General Hospital in the arms of his loved ones on Thursday, November 1, 2007. Beloved husband of 60 years of Julia, who passed away on September 7, 2007. Devoted and loving father of Tadzio Ted and Krysia Krystyna. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Patrick (Natalie) and Ryan (Jillian); his great-granddaughters Kaileigh and Leanna. Survived by his sisters Anna and Helena, and his brother Stefan (Bronislawa). He will always be fondly remembered by his family (here and in Europe), friends, and all who knew him. We will all miss his laugh, his jokes, his prowess at weaving a fascinating story, as well as the multitude of Do-It-Yourself tips he was always quick to share with everyone. Special thanks go to Nurse Lin James and the wonderful PSW team at ParaMed who contributed to Michal's care and comfort these past few years, as well as to nurses Kathy and Fiona of the ECU team at KGH who provided such remarkable care in his final hours. Michal had a very full life, replete with many joys as well as many sorrows and hardships. He was wounded in action at the onset of World War II and then survived 4 years in a German Prisoner-of-War camp before escaping and joining the Polish forces under British command. At the close of the war, Michal found himself in England, facing the heartbreaking fact that Poland had been swallowed up as a satellite state of the USSR and he no longer had a homeland to return to. It would be 30 years before he saw the siblings that had stayed behind in Poland. While in England, Michal met the love of his life, Julia, the sister of his best friend. They married and a year later set off with their infant son, Tadzio, to another adventure - a new life in Canada. They spent the first 22 years in Montreal, and then settled in Kingston, where they have lived for 36 years. Family and friends will be received at the TOWNSHIP CHAPEL of the GORDON F. Born June 15, 1922 in Oshawa, Don attended North Simcoe Street Public School and Oshawa Collegiate and Vocational Institute, and earned degrees from the University of Toronto School of Engineering (BASc), Cornell University (MRP), Imperial College of Science and Technology (DIC), University of London (PhD). As a young engineer, Don worked for the TTC on the design and construction of the Yonge Street subway. Upon his return from studies in London in 1955, he joined H.G. Acres & Co., Ltd., subsequently Acres International, where he worked in a number of different positions until 1989. He was the recipient of The Professional Engineers Gold Medal (Assoc. of Prof. Engineers of the Province of Ontario) and the R.F. Legget Award (The Cdn. Geotechnical Soc. of the Engineering Institute of Canada); and he was a member of the Hall of Distinction of the Engineering Alumni of the University of Toronto. Don's personal commitments included meaningful affiliations with Wycliffe College, Shaw Festival Theatre, Niagara College, The Arthritis Society, and St. Mark's Anglican Church in Niagara-on-the- Lake. Beloved husband of Barbara (Barrett), beloved father of the late Brian, and of Katy and her husband Ayad Alsinawi, and Neil. Adored granddad of Junia and Theo. Dear brother-in-law of Jean Fayle, the late Marjorie Barrett, Phyllis Barrett and Murray White, and Norma Neudoerffer. Dearly loved uncle of David MacDonald, Frances and Brennan, and Paul MacDonald; Benjamin, Thomas (Deborah), Jeffrey, and Daphne Fayle; Cecelia (Jan Cienski), Sarah (Christophe Peyrusaubes), Cynthia (Henry Venema) Neudoerffer; Dean (Gale) and Martin (Tracey) White. There will be cremation followed by a private family service of interment. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 13th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Anglican Church in Niagara-on-the- Lake.
