MALONEY, Bernard Joseph - of Hanover, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, November 03, 2007 at the Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre, Owen Sound. Beloved partner, companion and special friend of Isabelle Gateman of Hanover. Loved father of Cindy and her husband Terry Davidson of Walkerton, Joe and his wife Laurie of Smithville, and Myra and her husband Kevin Summers of Hanover. Loving grandfather to Alicia and her husband Mike McIntyre, Jamie, Jake and Scarlett Davidson, Michaela, Tyler, Nikolas, Jason and Meaghan Maloney, K.J, Colton, Bayden and Raina Summers. Greatgrandfather of Cody McIntyre. Survived by brothers and sisters Leonard (Anne) Maloney, Kay Fuller, Jim (Carol) Maloney, Betty Joyce, Terry Maloney, Donna Maloney, Dan Maloney and Debbie (Don) Dwulit. Will be sadly missed by Frankie Maloney and her partner Steve Scott, several nieces and nephews, the 11th Ave Crew, and many dear friends. Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Mary Maloney, brothers-in-law Chuck Fuller, Ed Joyce, Bill McDonald and daughter-in-law Dione Maloney. Bernie was born March 21, 1940 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. His family moved to the Hamilton area where he grew up and worked for many years. He moved to Hanover in the mid 1980s where he and Isabelle ran a successful restaurant 'Isabelle's Takeout' for many years. Through the years he volunteered with Hanover Minor Hockey, The Hanover Barons Junior C Hockey Team and the Hanover Legion. He has been actively involved in municipal, provincial and federal politics and loved to travel, walk, sing and enjoy the friendship and conversations of family and friends around his kitchen table. 'He never met a stranger'. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 11:00 am at the MIGHTON FUNERAL HOME, Hanover, immediately followed by a celebration of his life at the Hanover Legion. WEBER, Shirley July 10, 1925 - November 3, 2007 Shirley Lillian Weber (nee Johnson) passed away peacefully on November 3, 2007. Shirley was born and raised near Eckville, Alberta and lived in Stettler and Red Deer before settling in Calgary with her husband, Gerald. Shirley trained as a counsellor with the Pastoral Institute as well as the Eidos Centre and worked with Eidos and on her own, as well as volunteering with Alberta Children's Hospital as a counsellor. Shirley was a compassionate advocate for people with Huntington Disease, initiating and leading support groups, fund raising, and when diagnosed, participating in vital research trials. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Gerald, her brothers, Harold Johnson and Victor Johnson. She is survived by her sons, Steven (Linda), Stanley (Dorota Krzywosz), Roy (Ruth), Christopher, and her daughter Diane Tullson (Wayne); Anneliese Weber, mother of Shirley's grandchildren, Christian, Terry, and Nicole; grandchildren, Jay, Drew, Kyle, Shawn, Nathan, Evan, Brendan; great-grandchildren, Kieran, Cory, Hayden; her sisters, Margaret Gilmour and Gladys Hemphill; a large circle of loving nieces, nephews and cousins; and her caregiver and constant companion these last five years, Maria Croft. Marion (Mandy) Fotheringham 1916-2007 Marion Amanda (Mandy) Fotheringham, aged 91, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Saturday, November 3rd, following a brief illness. Born in Petitcodiac, she was the daughter of Bedford Alward and Henrietta MacWilliams. A talented musician with many creative interests, Marion's vivacity and sense of humour delighted all who knew her. As a young girl her music brought her much joy, as well as employment - playing for silent movies, with Don Messer, and Hank Snow recorded one of her compositions in the early stage of his career. After her marriage, she worked for a number of years in the food industry. She also volunteered as a Girl Guide leader and director of senior citizens glee clubs in Sackville and Riverview. Marion is survived by one daughter, Mary MacDonald (Robert) of Comox, BC; four grandchildren, Shane MacDonald of Grand Prairie, Alberta, Aundrea MacDonald-Feltham of Vancouver, Jennifer Fotheringham of Ottawa and Mary Fotheringham of Halifax; and four great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Taylor, Amanda and Robert. She is predeceased by her husband Philip (Scotty); her son, George; and seven siblings, Rena, Eva, Hinson, Alice, Lillian, Elsie and Waldo. Né le 23 septembre 1926 à Saint-Louis-de-Kent, il était fils de feu Basile et Joséphine (Richard) Richard. Il manquera beaucoup à sa famille qui l’aimait, son épouse depuis 44 ans, Cécile (Duguay); sa fille, Mona Belliveau (Roland) de Grand-Barachois; son fils, Donald Richard (Lisa) de Dieppe; ses deux soeurs: Irène Babineau (feu Antoine) et Thérèse Babineau (feu Joseph), toutes deux d’Acadieville; ses deux frères: Raymond Richard (Aline) de Saint-Charles et frère Gérard Richard de Sherbrooke, Qc, ainsi que ses trois petits-enfants: Marissa, Miguel et Jérémie. Son frère, l’archevêque Mgr Arsène Richard, ainsi que quatre frères et soeurs en bas âge, l’ont précédé dans la tombe. M. Richard a déménagé en Ontario pour se trouver un emploi quand il a rencontré Cécile, son épouse depuis 44 ans. Ils sont retournés au Nouveau-Brunswick en 1975. Il a pris sa retraite de Lockwood en 1990. Il était un ancien membre du Club de l’âge d’or de Cap-Pelé et de Shédiac. Il aimait la musique et jouer du violon. FISCHER, Dieter (1940-2007) - The family announces with sorrow his death on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at age 67 years. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Mazzuca) and dearest father of Darcy (wife Julie) of Porcupine, Darren (wife Karyn) of Montreal and Kim Labelle (husband Ray) of Timmins. Dieter was born in Germany and came to Timmins in 1959. He married his wife Mary in Timmins on August 5, 1963. He had been employed as a carpenter with Dome Mines for over 24 years and besides being an avid soccer and dart player, he also enjoyed hunting and camping as well as woodworking. COLEMAN, Richard Neville August 31, 1928 - November 2, 2007 Richard Neville Coleman, beloved husband of Muriel Coleman of Calgary, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2007 at the age of 79 years. Richard was born in Essex, England, the only child of Gertrude and Norman Coleman. He was proud to serve in the Royal Air Force. He married the love of his life, Muriel Bradbury, on July 28, 1951. In 1956, they immigrated to Canada and settled in Calgary. They worked hard to establish a home to welcome Donald in 1959 and Valerie in 1962. Richard loved the outdoors and there were many days of picnics, hiking, cross country skiing, and exploring in the mountains. Gardening was another passion which was obvious to anyone who saw his garden. Richard followed family tendencies and was an accomplished painter. He had a lifelong love of trains and built an extensive model train display at home. He also enjoyed being involved with the Rocky Mountain Rail Society, serving as membership chairman and editor of the newsletter. Golf was another pastime he enjoyed tremendously. Richard worked as a chemical engineer for Shell Canada at the Jumping Pound Gas Plant, ensuring the surrounding countryside was protected. He retired in 1984 and he and Muriel enjoyed many travels all over the world, with Australia being a real favourite. Family was of utmost importance to Richard and he treasured each of his four granddaughters. He was always curious and sought to understand. He became a mentor to many. Richard was a true gentleman and will be dearly missed by his family and friends all over the world. Besides his loving wife Muriel, Richard is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Robert Marko and their children, Erin and Alison of Calgary; daughter-in-law Wendy Coleman and her children, Jeana and Lindsay of Lethbridge as well as several other family members in Canada, England, and Australia. He was predeceased by his son Donald in 1997. WEBB, Doris Irene Valentine (nee Clarke) - Of Hamilton, died on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born February 14, 1914, in Lyndsay, ON. She was a past member of the Eastern Star, and president of the Business and Professional Women's Club for several years in Trenton, ON. Also president of the Fernleigh Lawn Bowling Club in Hamilton. GRAHAM, NORMA JANET Norma J. (Major) Graham, age 86, of Upper Queensbury passed away peacefully on November 4, 2007 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Norma was the beloved wife of 64 years to Arnold Graham; dearly loved mother of Errol (Sonia), Diann, Janice (Andrew Wilson) and Gary (Anita); grandmother to Virgil, Melissa, David, Maggie, Ian, Kerstin, Leanne, Michelle, Jeremy and Aaron; great-grandmother to Zach, Adam, Kai, Anya, Jackson and Sydney. Norma is also survived by her sister, Donna Briggs (Lloyd). She was predeceased by her parents, George and Cora Major, her son Glenn and sisters Carol Major and Rowena MacKenzie. Norma's life was one of family, love, hard work and faith. She lived all of her 86 years in Upper Queensbury in the same home overlooking the beauty of the St. John River. She graduated from Saint John High School and Fredericton Normal School (Teachers' College) and was among the last of a generation of teachers who taught in the one-room schoolhouses that once dotted New Brunswick's rural landscape. Norma was employed for several years at Kings Landing Historical Settlement. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed observing nature and the daily sighting of the many deer that inhabited the fields around her home. Norma took pleasure in reading and had an inquiring mind that enjoyed conversation, politics and reflection. She cherished her family and friends, always providing a warm and welcoming home. She was a talented cook, turning out big meals for all that gathered at her table. It has been calculated that, in her lifetime, she made over a hundred thousand loaves of fragrant and tasty bread. Norma was a woman of deep and abiding faith. She took an active role at the Nackawic Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher and a life member of the Women's Missionary Society. Over the past several years she endured her slowly declining health with the same grace and strength that marked her life. The family wishes to thank Frieda Parker, who as housekeeper, provided wonderful care and support. Family flowers only, please. STELLIGA, Annie Smiley - Annie Stelliga died peacefully in Tufford Nursing Home on Saturday, November 3, 2007. Beloved mother of Kathleen Rosloski and son-in-law, Dr. Joseph Rosloski. Annie was born in Phoenix, B.C. in 1912 and spent her growing up years in Nelson and Cranbrook B.C. before moving to Fernie, B.C. where she spent the rest of her life except for the last few years when she resided in St. Catharines, ON. Annie was very active in her church, served on the library board and was a volunteer at the library for 37 years. She received her 25 year pin as member of the Fernie Cancer Society. Whenever an organization asked for her help, she was always willing to lend a hand. She missed Fernie when she could no longer live on her own there and kept several pictures of Fernie available to show to anyone who was interested, and told wonderful stories of life in Fernie. SKELLY, Rev. William “Bill“ - It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to our father Reverend William Skelly, who passed away Sunday morning at his home in Mississauga, Ontario at the age of 87. Known to most as Bill, he was born in Dromara, in county Down, Northern Ireland, one of seven children of Evelyn and Robert Skelly. He was raised in rural Ireland where he was surrounded by emerald hills, farm animals of every kind, and warm people filled with wit and character. He excelled in school and won scholarships which enabled him to study at Magee College in Londonderry and Trinity College in Dublin. Further study at The University of Edinburgh and the University of Belfast led him to his life long career in the ministry. He met our mother, wife Mary Anderson, during his first appointment in the rural parish of Anaclone, where she was the organist. Soon thereafter, he was called to Ballyarnett Presbyterian Church near Londonderry where he and Mary were married and had two children, Rob and Frances. After seven wonderful years, Bill received a call to come to Drayton, Ontario, Canada and it was with mixed emotions that he accepted the call. Although he had to leave the Mountains of Mourne behind, he was able to take the organist with him. In Canada, Bill and Mary had two more children, Joy and Brenda. Bill was blessed to serve as minister in several congregations across Ontario and in doing so acquired many lasting friendships, beginning with Drayton, Moorefield and Rothsay (1952-1954), St. Andrew's in Thorold (1954-1961), Alexandra in Brantford (1962-1970), Scottlea and St. David's (1969-1970), Tillsonburg and Windham Center (1970-1976) and Knox in Dunnville (1976-1985). After retiring in March 1985, Bill and Mary lived in St. Catharines and once again enjoyed the close community of friends in Thorold that they had come to know and love some 30 years earlier. Bill was predeceased by our mother and his loving wife of 60 years, Mary, in March 2006 and by his niece Pauline Skelly at the age of 19, in 2002. His loss is deeply felt by his son Rob, his daughters Fran and husband John, Joy and husband Bert, and Brenda and husband David as well as by his grandchildren John, Ben and Katie. He is also survived by sister-in-law Joy, brother Ted and wife Edie, and sister Maude in Ireland and brother Reverend Fred Skelly and wife Margaret in Hamilton who has been a close and faithful friend, giving loving support when most needed. Bill's life was characterized by a strong and unfaltering faith. He lived by the values he espoused. A generous, gentle and kind man with a sense of humour still apparent in his last days, he had a selfless manner, never refusing a person in need yet humble in his charity. Our father led an extraordinary and exemplary life, an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
