LANTEIGNE, Marilyn Christeen (nee Maxwell) - It is with profound sadness, the family announce the passing of Marilyn on Tuesday October, 30, 2007 at her home surrounded by her very close family. She courageously ended her shortened life with great dignity against the battle of cancer at the age of 60. Marilyn will be deeply missed by her loving husband Percy of 38 years, loving mother of son Barry and wife Tracy and Nana to her precious grandchildren Austyn and Addison. Marilyn was a long time employee of Potter and Shaw Ltd., Crown Pharmacy, Photo Shop, Grantham Postal Outlet and Colour Your World. Cremation has taken place at her request. MACNEILL, Janet - It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Janet at her home on October 25th, 2007 in her 55th year. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Paul (Rita) and special niece Alexandra Janet. Janet is predeceased by her parents Phyllis (1998) and Walter (1995). MARTIN, Richard - After a lengthy illness at Molokai General Hospital, Molokai, Hawaii, on Friday, October 26th 2007, Richard Johnson Martin, of Kaunakakai, Hawaii, in his 84th year. Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 58 years, Mae Martin (Nee McGuire), formerly of Malcolm- Elmwood, Ontario, his seven children and their families, and his sister, Daphne Johnson and her husband, John, of Annan, Ontario. Predeceased by his parents, Dr. W. Y. Martin and his wife, Mary, formerly of Atherton, England; his brother, Tommy Martin; his sister, Kitty Pearson. Richard was a W. W. II Veteran serving in the British Navy as a Lieutenant. He saw action in France and the Mediterranean and participated in D-Day. Post war, Richard immigrated to Canada where he settled in Nova Scotia and enlisted in the Royal Navy Reserve. It was here that he met his wife, Mae, who at that time was in the R.C.A.F. Seeking warmer climate and new adventures, they moved to California and eventually to Hawaii in 1963, where they remain at present. A Funeral Service for Richard Martin will be held at St. Sophia Catholic Church, Molokai, Hawaii, on Saturday, November 3rd, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.. Interment in Kanala Cemetery, Molokai, Hawaii. DESCHAMPS, Donald "Don" Peacefully while surrounded by loved ones in St. Viateur Nursing Home in Limoges on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at the age of 61 years. Beloved husband of Carolyn (nee Shaw). Cherished father of Carey (Kevin) of Fredericton, Chantal (Barry) of Moncton, Pascal (Lise) of Moncton and Shaun of Embrun. Beloved Pepe of 5 grandchildren, Rebecca, Jacob, Julie, Nicholas and Samuel. Son of the late Leonard and Helen (Marois) Deschamps. Will be remembered by 7 siblings, Roland (Julie) of Spring Bay, Jeanne (Claude) of Embrun, Maurice (Barb) of Val Caron, Gerald (Diane) of Val Caron, Therese (Dan) of Richmond Hill, Denis (Lesley) of Val Caron, Lise (Roman) of Hanmer. Florence was born in Balaclava, Ontario September 15, 1914, the eldest daughter of Claude and Jean Wark. She was predeceased by her husband Wilbert (April 2, 2007). VICKERY, Sydney Hugh Aged 59 son of Annie L. Vickery (nee Beach) and Sydney W. Vickery of Mallorytown, ON. on October 30, 2007 in Normandy France, after a lengthly illness. He was born in Wolverhampton England and graduated from Uppingham Public School in Leicestershire. He graduated from Queen's University in 1971 and then returned to England where in 1973 he met and married Martine Euzet from Perpignon, France. In the late 1970's they moved to Canada living first in Mallorytown, then in Brockville and later Ottawa, ON. While in Canada Hugh worked for several Conservative MP's, including Flora Macdonald and Gerry Weiner. In the mid 1990's Hugh and Martine moved to Normandy, France. Hugh is predeceased by his sister Laurie Chatterton and is survived by his wife Martine in France and by sisters Mary Armstrong and Elaine Fernandez-Davila of Ottawa, and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families in Canada, Australia, England and the USA. LEZNOFF, Adam Mark. Suddenly on October 21, 2007 at Richmond Hospital at the age of twenty-nine. Adam was born in Montreal on June 7, 1978. When he was a year-and-a-half, his family moved to Richmond. In true West Coast fashion he became an excellent skier and enjoyed various other sports. After graduating high school, he went on to complete a computer programming course at Compu College, rating second in his class. In the past two years, he has been happily employed at Morneau Sobeco where he made many friends. Adam enjoyed going to movies, driving with the top down, being one of the "Three Musketeers" and playing computer games with his nephews, Gavin and Kalvin. Adam will be missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. He is survived by his mother Elaine Leznoff, father Ian Leznoff, and sister Liane (Surjit Dosanjh), also by his grandparents, Joseph and Ruth Leznoff of Montreal and Betty Prashker and the late Ely Prashker, also of Montreal. GILLISS, KENNETH EDMUND - Kenneth Edmund Gilliss died peacefully on October 30th, 2007 at age 82 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Kenneth was born November 16th, 1924 in Chatham, NB to the late Lee and Nellie Gilliss. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife Geraldine (Channon) Gilliss; three sons, Michael Gilliss (Roxena Goodine) of Blind Bay, B.C., Christopher Gilliss (Karen Perry) of Toronto, Ont., and Lee Gilliss of Fredericton; two daughters, Mary Gilliss of Halifax, N.S., and Ann Gilliss (Robert Perkins) of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Scott, Lisa, Roberta, Alexandra, and Kevin; two sisters, Lenore Masterson and Shirley Lynch, both of Miramichi, NB and was predeceased by his two brothers, Merle and Burt Gilliss. In 1945 he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Halifax. Kenneth received his Bachelor of Arts in English from St. Thomas University and his Master of Arts in English from the University of New Brunswick. He worked as a teacher for 13 years and then for 25 years as Deputy Executive Director of the New Brunswick Teachers' Association. He was a very devoted husband to his first wife Kathleen (Kay) Scott for 30 years as well as to his current wife, Geraldine Channon, with whom he spent the last 29 years of his life. Kenneth and Geraldine commuted between Ottawa and Fredericton throughout their marriage but he was always a proud resident of New Brunswick. Kenneth and Geraldine traveled extensively throughout Canada, the U.S. and the Caribbean. At a young age he was quite the artist. He loved to sing, and was especially fond of songs from Newfoundland. He loved his gardening, fishing, and was an avid armchair sports fan. Kenneth was a wonderful storyteller with a great love for literature and a fine sense of humour. He could quote Robert Service's poems at great length. He leaves behind many joyful memories shared with all the lives he touched. He was modest about his talents, was the most generous of men, and was very proud of his family. DAGGETT BURTON M - 78, of Seal Cove Grand Manan Island, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Tuesday October 30, 2007. Son of the late James and Eunice (Harvey) Daggett. Burton worked in the Fishery and with his father at the fish plant their family owned and operated. Later he took over the plant until its closing where he later worked at the Anchorage Provincial Park until his retirement. Reginald "Reg" V. Spencer Reg Spencer, 87 of Magog, PQ and formerly of Moncton, passed away following a lengthy illness in Magog, PQ on October 29, 2007. He was the son of the late William V. and Hallie (Smith) Spencer. He was employed and retired from Public Works Canada. Reg was an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he loved his rose garden which he spent many hours in. He was a veteran of WW II serving as Flight Lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Air Force, Bomber Command. He was also a member of The Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by his wife of 65 years the former Gladys (Baird); daughter Cheryl Oke (Kevin) of BC; two sons Ross (Dorrie) of Georgeville, PQ and Robert of Toronto; sister Merilyn Hawley (John) of Riverview; sister-in-law Midge Spencer of Salisbury; three grand daughters; three great-grand daughters; one great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. Helen Mary Sarson Sarson, Helen Mary - 89, Amherst, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2007, in Gables Lodge, Amherst. Born July 11, 1918, in Port Howe, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Laura (MacKay) Dunbar. She had graduated from Provincial Normal College, Truro, in 1938 and had taught in several of the one-room schools in Cumberland County. She was a member of Trinity St. Stephen United Church, Amherst and a life member of the U.C.W. While her health permitted, she enjoyed sewing, baking, knitting, doing crossword puzzles, and above all, her family. Surviving are her three children, Pat (Henry) Knol, River Philip, Doug (Sandra) Sarson, Port Howe, Laura Sarson (Darryl Bonhower), Moncton; three grandchildren, Pam (Mike) Roberts, Amherst, Mike Knol (Angela Doyle), Ottawa, Heather Knol, Presque Isle, Maine; sister, Jennie Dunbar, Port Howe. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, William "Bill" Sarson, in 1992; her brother, Oran Dunbar. Michael Arthur Oatway 1947 - 2007 Michael A. Oatway, 59, of Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, October 30, 2007. Born in Moncton on December 12, 1947, he is the first son of Dr. William A. Oatway and the late Barbara (Sharman). Michael was a graduate of Moncton High School, he received his BA from UNB and continued his studies at UdeM where received his B.Ed and Masters in Administration. He taught for 31 years at Harrison Trimble High School and later served as Vice Principal. Michael believed in volunteerism and was very community oriented. He served as President of the Moncton Lions Club; the Moncton Teachers Credit Union; N.B. Teachers Association District #2; Codiac Vikings Swim Club; Moncton Youth Residences and the Greater Moncton Retired Teachers Association. As well as serving as a Director of the Provincial N.B Teachers Association and the Retired Teachers Association. He presently was a member of the Review Committee of the Youth Alternative Measurers. An avid traveler, he loved planning and travelling the world with his wife Maureen. Michael enjoyed all genre of literature and music. He will be sadly missed and always loved by his wife of 37 years Maureen (O'Hearn) Oatway; daughter, Marnie of Campbell River, BC; son, Mark and his wife Jenn of Barrie ON., all of whom he was very proud; his father, Dr. William A. Abbie Grant McLellan Abbie Grant McLellan, 96, passed away peacefully at Northwood Centre on October 26, 2007. Abbie was born in Glace Bay on March 28, 1911. She was the youngest of seven children of Isabelle (MacLean) and Absalom Beaton. She was a registered nurse who trained at the Glace Bay General Hospital. Following graduation, she took a post graduate course in Surgical Nursing at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She worked as a staff nurse in hospitals in Glace Bay, Halifax and New Jersey. During the Second World War she was a nursing sister in the Army. She was predeceased by husbands, Charles MacDonald and Neil McLellan and Neil's daughter Fay (Dr. Kenneth MacLennan) McLellan and Fay's daughter Barbara (Larry) Spears. Abbie was also predeceased by her sisters, Nan MacPherson and Pearl Muggah; brothers, Ernie, Freeman, Jim and Clarence Beaton. Abbie is survived by daughters, Betty (Dr. John) Anderson, Halifax and Joan (Terry) Steeves, Florida; grandchildren, Heather (Justin) McDonough and David Anderson, Halifax and Fay's children, Cathy (John) Snow, Dartmouth, Libby Coady, Shauna MacLennan, Halifax, Ginny (Richard) Todd, New Glasgow, David MacLennan, Petite Riviere and Scottie (Debbie) MacLennan, Burlington, Ont. and their children; her sister, Pearl's daughter, Anne (Lorne) Butler and family as well as several other nieces and nephews. Abbie took great joy in her great-grand children, Abbie Jean, Lauchlan and Elizabeth McDonough. Abbie was an active member of St. Andrew's United Church, U.C.W. and was a volunteer at Ronald McDonald House and more recently at Northwood where she lived very happily for the past eight years. CLARK, LESLIE MARION (NEE: ANDERSON) At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Tuesday October 30, 2007 Leslie Marion Clark passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 45. Born in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Edvin and Donna (Mullin) Anderson. Leslie was employed with McDonald's Restaurants for 30 years where she progressed through the different levels of management and was a great mentor and friend to many people. She is survived by a brother Jay Anderson of Australia; sister Lee Ann Sullivan of Edmonton, Alberta; two nieces and her chosen family the MacDonalds of Murray Avenue Carole, Susan, Perry, Meghan, Josh and Steve; her "McDonald's" family including Scott Elliott, Drew Sadler, Lisa King, Judy Murphy, Brian Rogers, Debbie Hines and many others. Friends and family are invited for a time of reflection at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road on Thursday evening from 7-9 pm. CHAPMAN, MARY ELIZABETH "BETTY" The death of Betty Chapman, wife of the late Maurice Leslie Chapman, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 30th, 2007. She was born in Saint John on April 10th, 1916, to the late Alexander and Mary (Girvan) Bishop. Betty was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church in Rothesay and was very active in the Anglican Church Women. She was a long time member of I.O.D.E. and the Union Club. Betty is survived by her three children: Mary Radamsky of Kennebecasis Park, Margaret (Jack) Winchester of Rothesay and James (Cathy) Chapman of Thunder Bay, Ontario; one brother, Robert (Betty) Bishop of Rothesay; six grandchildren; Kevin and Beverly Chapman, Michael, Mark (Carey), James (Sabrina) and Patrick (Wendy) Storey and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased by her two brothers, Pete and Jack Bishop. MARCH, ELDA - Mrs. Elda March of Belleisle Creek Manor, formerly of Sussex Corner, passed away at her residence of October 31, 2007 at the age of 96. She was the daughter of the late Silas and Mary Jane (Hoyt) Kirkpatrick and was the wife of the late Harvie March who passed away in 1972. Elda was the last surviving memeber of her immediate family. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ella Kirkpatrick of Hoyt; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Elda was predeceased by four brothers, Lester, Hazen, Percy and Willard; and by three sisters, Annie, Florence and Gladys.
