HASHMALL, Lillian - It is with great sadness that Arla Hochberg and Barbara Fineberg announce the death of their dear mother Lillian Hashmall. A proud mother and grandmother, her love for her family was unconditional. Predeceased by her husband Harry Hashmall. Lillian passed away at the age of 94 on July 28th, 2007. He also leaves to mourn his mother Irena Kwas (Kolada), his niece Ania (Tomek), grandchildren: Amanda, Victoria, Alexander, Artur, Samanta, Jason, Dominik, Sebastian and other family members and friends in Canada and Poland. Resting at Visitation Sunday Sept 2 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. and Monday, Sept 3 as of 9 a.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept 3 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 1660 Centre St., Montreal. BUCHANAN, Edmund L. "Buck". After eighty-seven phenomenal years, Buck set off for his final flight on Sunday, August 26, 2007 into clear blue skies. Born an American, he came to Canada to fly with the RCAF in WWII and stayed as a captain with Air Canada, in Montreal and Vancouver. He was an adventurer, a fighter, a rogue, and a gentleman and there will never be another like him. He is survived by his son Alec, daughters Lezlee and Rebecca, son-in-law Edward, grandson Austin and all the girls he loved so much. We will celebrate his incredible life at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 7 at St. Christopher's Anglican Church, 1068 Inglewood Ave., West Vancouver. CRAIG, Alexander Finlayson. 1935 - 2007. Quietly slipped away on Monday, August 27, 2007 at age seventy-two, Alexander Craig, retired employee of C.P. Rail. Son of the late Duncan Milne Craig and late Marion Finlayson, he was the beloved husband of Noreen Yates. He is also survived by his brother William (Noreen Murphy) of St-Laurent, his sister Doreen (Clark Anderson) of Beaconsfield, his nephew Colin (Cinzia Girelli) and their daughter Alexandra of Beaconsfield and his niece Susan Anderson (Alan Coulombe) of Surrey, B.C. At Alexander's request there will be no formal services and interment of his ashes will be in private at a later date. OBITUARY DR. HOWARD RICHARD HOGAN PhD. July 16,1925 - August 29, 2007 (Veni, Vidi, Parti) Predeceased by his brother Doug Hogan he leaves to mourn his loving wife, friend and golfing partner, Christine (nee White). Survived by his children Lesley Hogan of West Palm Beach, Deborah Thompson (Jim) of Meaford, Richard Hogan (Rose) of Barrie and his grandchildren, Alisha, Amber, Rena, Kaisha, Liam and his many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his sister-in-laws Lynne Jones (Barry), Mary Greeley (Neal) and Sandra White (Norman). Howard signed up in the Canadian Airforce in 1943 and was honorably discharged in December of 1944 whereby he proceeded to start his education at McGill University. Graduated in 1953 with a PhD in Geology, Magna cum laude. Prior to creating Baskatong Quartz, where its products became the backbone and standard for a number of multiple industries, Howard was consulting worldwide in base metals and industrial minerals. He is credited in the mining industry of developing 8 mines that were successfully mined to completion. Howard had a passion for golf and athletics in general and was a longstanding member of both The Royal Montreal Golf Club and Mt. Bruno Country Club. He was also a member of several overseas clubs such as Muirfield, The Royal and Ancient Golf Club, Royal County Down, Royal Belfast, Royal Port Rush, Royal Dornoch Royal Aberdeen and a few more. He was only allowed 14 clubs. He will be remembered and missed by his many friends for his generosity, humor, and his passion for golf. JOY, Margaret Mary (nee McKeown). Very peacefully at the Credit Valley Hospital in Toronto, and surrounded by the love of all her family, Margaret, in her ninety-second year passed away on June 30, 2007. Beloved wife of late Bill. Much loved mother of Judy, Patricia, Douglas, Brenda, and Michael. Delightful grandmother of Mandi, Sam, Hayden, Patrick, Theresa, Trevor, Garrett, Eric and Kevin. Her strength of character, kindness, and humour were boundless, and her smile never ending. Our lives have not been the same since her passing, and she will continue to be missed by all whom had the privilege of knowing her. She is in our hearts today and always. Margaret's final interment will take place on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Last Post Fund Cemetery in Pointe Claire, followed by a reception at 369 St. Aubin Vaudreuil-Dorion. PHELPS, Barbara Ann (nee Tolmie) 71 years passed away suddenly at her late residence. Beloved mother of Joel & Suzanne Phelps and Jennifer & Bob Switzer. Cherished grandmother of Bobby and Sheri Switzer. Predeceased by her late parents Charles & Elizabeth Tolmie and brother and sister-in-law Chuck (Charlie) and Eleanor Tolmie (1996). Dearest Aunt of Rick, Chuck Jr., Nancy Parent, Jim, John, Mary Ellen, Dan and Scott Tolmie. Special friend of Joanne Laforet and Tony Moore, Marilyn (Till) and Kai Friis, Sheila Dennison, Christina & Jacob Valliqette, Wendy Lewis and Betsy & John Magner. Barbara was a nursing graduate of Grace Hospital Class of 1957. Barb was an avid sports fan especially the Toronto Maple Leafs. She also loved her cats Smokey and Basil and was very committed to the love and care of homeless animals. At Barbara's request cremation has taken place. Father Paschal (Maurice) Breau, SA A Franciscan Friar of the Atonement. Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 in Toronto, Ontario after a brief illness. He was 86 years old. Fr. Paschal was born Maurice Breau in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. He attended Sunny Brae School and St. Joseph High School in Moncton, and in 1976 he received his Bachelor's of Education degree from the University of New Brunswick and his teacher's license. He entered the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement at Graymoor in 1941. He was clothed in 1943, professed his first vows in 1945 and made his perpetual vows in 1948. as Bro. Paschal, SA. After his profession, Bro. Paschal assumed administrative functions in Graymoor, Rome, Italy and Gardiner Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada. In 1956, he became Director of Brothers Vocations for the Friars of the Atonement, a position he held until 1971, when he along with two other friars were assigned to Windsor, Ontario to start the Church of the Atonement Parish. He also taught at St. Anne's High School in Tecumseh. He received the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Medal (For the Church and the Pontiff Medal) in 1971 from Pope Paul VI in recognition of his efforts to promote the religious brotherhood and encouraging others to serve the Church in this role. He was also instrumental in organizing the National Association of Religious Brothers (now known as the Religious Brothers Conference). In 1977, Bro. Paschal received permission to study for the priesthood at Pope John XXIII Seminary in Weston, MA, where he earned an M.Div. degree in 1979. On June 15, 1979 he was ordained to the priesthood at his home parish, St. Bernard's Church, Moncton, NB, by Bishop Donat Chiasson. After his ordination, Fr. Paschal did pastoral work in St. Francis de Sales Parish, Lumberton, North Carolina and was pastor of St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Richmond, BC. He continued to do Formation work with the Friars in Washington, DC and Vocation work in Toronto, Ontario. In 1999 he took up permanent residence in Paul Wattson Friary in Toronto, Ontario. Fr. Paschal was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (O'Neill) Breau of Sunny Brae. He is predeceased by his brothers, Frank and Bud; and his sisters, Helen Colepaugh and Catherine Clark. He is survived by his sister, Rita Breau of Moncton, NB; sister-in-law, Betty Fogarty; brother-in-law, John Clark; nieces, Nancy Burgess, Pat Estabrooks, Maureen Wilbur, Anne Brooks, Carol Lee Rowan; nephew, John David Colepaugh, all of Moncton; Sue Trites of Heatherton, NS; and several great nieces and nephews and cousins. A viewing will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church, 1701 Bloor Street West (East of Keele St.), Toronto on Monday September 3rd from 1 - 4 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 4 p.m. Interment will be at the Friars' Cemetery at Graymoor in Garrison, New York, U.S.A.
