CLARK, Patricia "Pat" Ann Patricia "Pat" Ann Clark, of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre on August 27, 2007 at the age of 60 years. Pat will be lovingly remembered by her children: Dawn (Mike), Michelle (Chris), Ken (Michelle), Randy (Dorinda), Laura (Jason), Scott (Heather); her grandchildren: Jonathan, Christopher, Syvannah (Adrian), Nicholas, Ashley-Ann, Angela, Patrick, Christopher and Michael and numerous other relatives. She will be deeply missed by her parents, Lucy and Gerry Brault as well as her brothers, David (Sylvie) and Robert (Sandra), her niece Sarah and nephews Eric and Charles. Linda was an active member of Girl Guides of Canada in Pointe Claire. The Guiding community and her many close friends will miss her dedication, enthusiasm and fun-loving spirit. DANAN, Felicidad (Fely) Felicidad (Fely) Danan (nee Villanueva) of Calgary, passed away peacefully of cancer on August 19, 2007 at the age of 81. Fely was born in Calasiao, Pangasinan, Philippines on October 12, 1925. She immigrated to Calgary in 1986 with her late husband, where they lived in Murdoch Manor from 1986 to 1996. She enjoyed her weekends going to Market or Chinook Mall. Fely had a unique sense of humor. Her children and grandchildren often called her a "comedian". She had a flare for fashion and jewelry. She always wore jewelry even when she was at home. Her favourite restaurant was Swiss Chalet. Fely was predeceased by her husband Luciano V. Danan Sr. in 1997, son Vicente in 1991, and recently her sister Dionisia De Vera in 2007. Fely is survived by her children: Jun (Melinda) and Maria Clara, both of Calgary; Nilo (Cathy), Lito (Cora), Tessie, and Al (Ining), all of the Philippines. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sixteen grandchildren: Anne Claire and Karla of Calgary; Joy (James), Jerome, Jason (Cynthia), Lieza and Cocoy of California; and Caroline, Louie, Lani, Joanne, Joyce, Johnry, Joseph, Lester and Aldrich of the Philippines; as well as her seven great-grandchildren of California. She also leaves to mourn her brother Cesar Villanueva; her daughter-in-law Feli of California; and numerous nieces and nephews of the Philippines and Las Vegas. Thank you very much to Dr. Oliver David, the CHR palliative team, Calgary Family Services, Comcare, and Chinook Hospice for their immediate and compassionate care. HAWKINS, STANLEY ELLIS Stanley Ellis Hawkins passed away on August 26, 2007 with family by his side after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Millville, York Co., N.B. on January 11, 1946. He is survived by his mother, Bertha (Blaney) Hawkins, brothers and sisters, Carl(Betty), Claire(Helen), Shirley(late Willis), Anita(late Albert), Norma(late Al), Marguerite(late Jerry), Brian(Andrea) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his father, Harold, in 1990. Stan will be cremated, as per his request, and his ashes buried with his father's at Hawkins Corner Cemetery in Millville, N.B. at a later date. GAGNON, Édouard cardinal p.s.s. Son Éminence le cardinal Édouard Gagnon, p.s.s. 1918 - 2007 Monsieur le cardinal Édouard Gagnon, p.s.s. À Montréal, le 25 août 2007, est décédé, à l'âge de 89 ans, Monsieur le cardinal Édouard Gagnon, prêtre de Saint-Sulpice, fils de Joseph-Étienne Gagnon et de Marguerite Joncas décédés. Après ses études théologiques au Grand Séminaire de Montréal, il est ordonné prêtre le 15 août 1940 pour le diocèse de Montréal. Il enseigne au Grand Séminaire et complète en 1944 un doctorat en droit canon à l'Université Laval de Québec. Au terme de la Solitude, il entre dans la Compagnie de Saint-Sulpice en août 1945. Par la suite, il enseigne au Grand Séminaire avant d'occuper le poste de recteur dans plusieurs séminaires : St-Boniface, Manizales en Colombie, puis à nouveau St-Boniface. Il participe au Concile Vatican II à titre de théologien. Élu supérieur provincial en 1966, il devient, en mars 1969, évêque de St-Paul, Alberta. En 1972, il occupe le poste de recteur du Collège Canadien à Rome et, l'année suivante, il devient vice-président puis président du Comité pour la famille et, enfin, président du Conseil pontifical pour la famille, à Rome. Le pape Jean-Paul II l'élève au cardinalat en avril 1985. Nommé président du Comité permanent pour les Congrès eucharistiques en 1991, il prend sa retraite au Séminaire de St-Sulpice en novembre 2000. Le défunt laisse dans le deuil ses soeurs Yolande Gagnon et Marguerite Gagnon-Bédard ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. Les funérailles auront lieu le mardi, 4 septembre à 10 h en la Basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal. ALLISON, Kathleen (Kay) - in her 78th year, peacefully passed away after a brief illness on July 1st, 2007 in Thunder Bay. Born in Blue Ridge Alberta, she married Lloyd in Geraldton and later moved to Elliot Lake, where she resided and raised her family until moving to Thunder Bay to be closer to her son, Ryan. She is loved and remembered by her sons, Rudy, Ryan (Jeanne) and daughter Lorie, sisters, Ethel and Penny and extended family. Kay will be dearly missed by her 5 grandchildren, Donna, Adam, Jennifer, Krystal, Kevin-Lloyd and her 4 great- grandchildren. Kay is predeceased by her son Russy as a teenager in 1968 and her husband, Lloyd in 1994 and her brother Roy and her mother, Leona. Kay was an artist. She often took up new talents and her family will treasure her works of art - oil paintings, black and white sketchings, ceramics, and her fabulous paper toll.To celebrate Kay's life, a memorial service will be held on August 27th at 1:00 pm at the Algo Inn, Room 201. DEY, John Turnbull Born in Denny, Scotland on March 26th 1925-Died August 27th at Hospice Village, Windsor. It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of John our beloved husband, father and grampy. John is survived by June his loving wife of 53 years, their three children: Elspeth, Ruth and Ian; their grandchildren Sarah, Meaghan, Ken and Sean McKenzie and Evan Dey. John was a long standing member of Bedford United Church. He served in the Royal Navy during WWII, and was a Leading Fireman with the Central Scotland Fire Dept. before emigrating to Canada in 1957. John was a retiree of Hiram Walker & Son and a member of C.A.W. Local 2027 for 23 years. He was also a retired dance teacher of the Windsor branch of the R.S.C.D.S. His presence will be greatly missed by all his friends who shared his passion for Scottish Country Dancing. John also enjoyed the company of his swimming buddies at the Adie Knox pool and his friends at the Live Poets and Poets at the Church Group. SUCHORAB, Vivian (nee Fisich/Ficych) May 10, 1914 - August 28, 2007 Vivian Suchorab (nee Fisich/Ficych) of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at the age of 93 years. Vivian was born on April 27, 1914 (though records show May 10, 1914) on a farm near Wakaw, SK. There she met and married Peter Suchorab. Their first daughter, Melva Ruby (Hill) was born on March 1, 1938. In 1939, they moved to Toronto, ON to start a new life in the city. Their daughter Patricia Joyce was born April 1, 1941. Vivian was a homemaker and took pride in keeping her home and her Ukrainian heritage the centre of importance. This included sending her daughters to study the Ukrainian language and culture. Once the children had grown up, she got a "real" job at the Ministry of Health in Ontario and retired in 1979. In 1989, she moved to Calgary to live with Patricia. Vivian was an avid crossword and jigsaw puzzle solver and took great pride in showing off her completed jigsaw puzzles. At the age of eighty plus, Vivian ventured out to the Ukraine. Two trips in 1998 and 2000 resulted in finding many relatives. A great cook, she passed on many of her ethnic recipes that she recorded on video for her family to remember. Vivian had resided at the Beverly Centre Glenmore until her passing. Vivian is survived by her daughter Patricia, her sisters Olga Wingerchuk, Catharine, Jean Bell and brother-in-law Bill Porter. She leaves behind her grandchildren Lauren, Jim (wife Rosemary) and Janice, and great-grandchildren, Matthew, Shelby, Dominic and Frances, and son-in-law, Victor Hill. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews: Judy, Joan, Debbie, Jackie, Tamara, David, Terry, Mike, Roger and all their families. She was predeceased by her parents Nickola and Mary (Sarchuk) Ficych, husband Peter, daughter Melva, sisters Sally, Anne Pylypchuk, Pauline Porter and brothers Bill and Morris. Vivian has specifically requested to acknowledge the love, caring and support her neighbours have extended to her and Patricia. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the caring staff at the Beverly Centre Glenmore. Vivian will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
