HOLMES, Shirley Ann Emily - Shirley Holmes of Meaford, and formerly of Stayner, passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services in Meaford on Wednesday June 20, 2007 at the age of 66. Shirley was born in Collingwood, Ontario, the eldest daughter of the late George and Pearl (née Hiltz) Synnott. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 45 years, Ivan Arthur Holmes, of Meaford. Shirley will be fondly remembered as a loving mother of Barry Holmes and his wife Bonnie, of Victoria B.C. and Sherry Trask and her husband Derek, of Meaford and as the loving grandmother of her six grandchildren: Skylar and Carter Trask, Theodore, Charles, Madeline and Holly Holmes. She is survived also by her sisters, Willa Plewes and Irene McQueen, and a brother, Gordon Synnott. A brother, Arthur Synnott, predeceased Shirley. Funeral services, officiated by Reverend Steve Webb, were conducted at the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME in Meaford on Friday June 22, 2007 with interment following at Lakeview Cemetery. KENNEDY, Sydney (Curly) - After a brave battle, Curly died on Friday, August 24, 2007, at the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital, Dunnville. Beloved husband of Margy and father of Tim and Tom. Curly leaves six grandchildren and one great- grandchild. He grew up on Inchbury Street in Hamilton and worked at the Ford Motor Co. for 30 years. An avid sailor, golfer and hunter, Curly retired to Port Maitland twenty years ago. At Curly's request cremation has taken place. No service or visitation. STOREY, Mary (Doris) - If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I would walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. It is with tremendous sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and nana in her 77th year. (November 21, 1930 - August 25, 2007). Doris is survived by her loving husband Denzil Storey and her three children, Richard (Marilyn) Storey, Deborah (Raymond) Gareau and Katherine (David) Shaw. Doris was grandmother to eight grandchildren Derrick, Shannon, Ashley, Darryl, Ryan, Amy, Katherine and Victoria and great grandmother to four. Doris is also survived by two brothers Lloyd (Jenny) Hall, and Gary Hall and three sisters Eleanor (Wally) Duff, Gladys (Dwayne) Shaver and Viola (Jim) Fawcett and was predeceased by two brothers Clayton Hall and Clifford (Claire) Hall all of the Iroquois-Morrisburg Area. Doris also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends. Doris was a wonderful loving wife, mother and nana and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched. DAVIDSON, ELAINE JANET - 1951-2007. Peacefully, with her family by he side, Elaine Janet Davidson of Florenceville passed away Tuesday morning, August 28, 2007 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Elaine was the daughter of the late Lewis & Jessie (Broad) Giberson and wife to her first husband, the late James Pierce and her current husband, Thomas W. Davidson. Elaine lived in Florenceville most of her life and operated her hair salon "Clip & Curl" out of her home. She loved her family with all her heart, (especially her grandchildren) also her many friends, clients and her God. She was a very special person to all who knew her. Even after getting arthritis in her shoulder, with pain every day, she still looked after a few of her special clients when they called upon her. Her family will miss the celebration every Christmas Eve held at her home, the big feast, (she was a great cook) and the gathering of family, this meant a lot to her, keeping her family close. You could see that, as they were all by her side Tuesday morning when she went to be with God. "He only takes the Best". Clarence E. Flewelling 1920 - 2007 Clarence E. Flewelling of Moncton, husband of the late Ruby Flewelling (Richardson), passed away at Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on Sunday, August 26th, 2007 at the age of 87 years. Born in Sangudo, Alberta, he was the son of the late Ernest H. and Amy C. (Cole) Flewelling. Clarence was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the New Brunswick Rangers and The Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa. Serving in Canada, United Kingdom and he was part of the Liberation of Holland. He would return to Holland as a veteran many times after the war. Member of the Royal Canadian Branch # 6, Moncton and member of the Riverview Veterans Association, member of the Golden Age Bowling League. He retired from Canadian National Railway as a carman after a 40-year career. A member Wesley Memorial United Church. Clarence loved to share stories of his railway days and his time overseas. He is survived by his only son, Charles (Susan) of Moncton; two grandchildren, Drew (Jill) Flewelling & Charlotte Flewelling all of Moncton; a special friend, Anna St. Laurent of Moncton. Born on April 11, 1922, in Douglas, NB, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Mary (Gray) Hildebrand. Prior to starting her family, Margaret was a school teacher at Nashwaaksis Elementary School. She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church and enjoyed knitting, gardening, outdoor activities and her grandchildren. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Edmund Biden (Bernadette) of Fredericton, NB; one daughter, Mary Bourgeois (Paul) of Riverview, NB; five grandchildren, Emily, Jeremy and Catherine Biden, Kaleigh and Ashlyn Bourgeois; one brother, Robert (Nellie) Hildebrand; three nephews, Robert, Eric and Norman Hildebrand; and her life long friend and fellow gardener Phyllis Reynolds. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Girvan. There will be no public visitation by request of the family. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 2 pm from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Pallbearers for the service are: Robert Hildebrand, Eric Hildebrand, Allan McGathey, Kevin Thomas, Robert Thomas and Alden Reynolds. Interment will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
