WALKER, Raymond Edward "Ray" Passed away peacefully at Henry Ford Hospital on August 24, 2007. Predeceased by Genevieve Walker (2001). Beloved father of Noell, Kent & Carol, Greg & Susan, Grant & Cori and Dianne & Bruce. Cherished grandfather of Denise, Michelle, Jenny, Glen, Peter, Sarah and Heather. Great grandfather of Gage, Ainsley, Austin and Sienna. Dear brother of Irene Wanklin and Freda Wiume. Ray was a retiree from Canada Customs and Excise at Hiram Walker and Windsor Raceway. Ray remained active as an artist, painting portraits and landscapes. He was an athlete who worked out at the University of Windsor regularly and on the road cycling. His true passion was dancing. Departing suddenly and most unexpectedly he will be missed by many: his family, his friends and dance partners in both the Windsor and Detroit Metropolitan areas. Ralph Van Ameringen August 12, 1931-August 25, 2007 Passed away on Saturday August 25 at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Josee and his children Michael Van Ameringen (Catherine), Marc Van Ameringen (Sharon and her children), Patrick Perrier, Denis Perrier and his grandchildren Joel, Celeste, Benjamin, Olivia, Alexander, Evan, Marisa, and Lucas, as well as by his first wife Lyna Van Ameringen. Ralph had a full and international life but lived in Canada for over 50 years. During this time he had a successful career as an entrepreneur and commercial real estate broker. He was unconventional in the way he approached everything which made life much more fun for people around him and his departure all the more difficult. He loved spending time reading, debating politics and entertaining friends and family, especially over a barbeque. For nearly 20 years Ralph and Josee had a second home in Bonifacio( Corsica). He loved Corsica and Corsicans and they reciprocated in kind. He was cremated according to his wishes and his ashes will rest in the Bonifacio cemetery. For his family and friends around the world, he was always there; they will miss him dearly and remember him always. BATE, Angela Faith October 10, 1921 August 18, 2007 Angela Bate died peacefully on the morning of August 18, 2007. She was predeceased six days earlier by her loving husband of sixty years, H. K. (Pat) Bate. Angela is survived by her son, Ian; daughter, Deborah; daughter, Lexi; sister, Verna Smith (Austin); brother, Charles de Macedo (Iris); brother, Louis de Macedo (Christine); two grandchildren, Benjamin, and Eleanore Hilliard; sister-in-law, Barbara Bate; and son-in-law, David McElderry. Angela also leaves behind many nieces and nephews of whom she was especially fond. Angela was born in St. Joseph's Hospital in Victoria, B.C. in 1921. She was educated at St. Ann's Academy. Angela married her life-long partner and best friend, Pat Bate, on September 12, 1947. She worked as a homemaker in Victoria from 1947 to 1955, as Pat practiced law. In 1955, Angela and Pat moved with their family to California where they lived until returning to Victoria in 1979. Angela was a homemaker in the truest sense of the word. Her home and family were the center of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also an active, lifelong gardener. Her garden was an expression of her creativity and a place of peace and solitude. Angela was gifted with a wicked and wonderful sense of humour. She especially loved her BBC comedies. She followed politics with great interest and was an avid reader. She created many lovely pieces of needlework and loved working with fabrics of all kinds. Angela was an intuitive, kind and graceful woman. We will all miss her greatly. No service by request. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the lives of Angela and her husband, Pat, will be held in Victoria near the date that would have been their sixtieth wedding anniversary. Gilberte “Betty” Dupuis died at the age of 92 at the Temiskaming Lodge in Haileybury on August 11, 2007. She was predeceased by her parents David and Emma (née Fleury) Dumais and her husband Antonio Dupuis. GAMBLE, Ken passed away on Friday, August 24, 2007 at the age of 51 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Donna of 27 years; children Charmaine (Brian) Stouse and Kendra (Bryce Thompson) Gamble; grand-daughters Madeline, Zoe and Ava Stouse; parents George and Marguerite; brothers Ron (Hilda) and Morley (Kathy); mother-in-law Doreen Rathgeber; brotherin-law Dave (Tara) Mack; as well as special nieces, nephews and friends. Ken worked for Dairyland Foods for his entire career. It was here he made many friends and loyal customers. He was southern Saskatchewan's favorite Milk Dude. Ken enjoyed spending time at Alice Beach where he and Donna had a cabin. The most important part of Ken's life were the times spent with his best friend and wife Donna and his most precious blessings, his children and grandchildren. KELLY, Thomas Alexander passed away on July 13 in Surrey, B.C. at age of 85. Tom was predeceased by his wife Ethel (Schuler) in 2003, his parents Wm. & Matilda Kelly, Regina, his brother Robert, Regina, sister-in-law Isobel Adams, Saskatoon. He is survived by three daughters, Brenda (Terry) Searl, Glenda (Keith) McGladdery, Tracy (James) Neuman, all of B.C., as well as five grandchildren, Jessie Searl, Ryan and Sheena McGladdery, Jillian and Olivia Neuman. He is also survived by his brother Russell (Dorothy) Kelly, Regina, and sisters Irene (Con) Hungle, Nanaimo, Vera (Bill) Cairns, Shawnigan Lake, B.C. LARSON, Lillian Margaret (Marg) passed away on August 12, 2007 at the age of 92. Predeceased by her parents (Louis & Augusta) brothers Lawrence, Walter, Fred and Emery, by sisters Olive, Ruth and Mammie. She is survived by brother Marvin (Mary) of Outlook, and sister Fern Adair of Saskatoon, as well as several nieces and nephews. Marg was educated in Midale (Augusta School-named after her mother) and later in Halbrite. Marg's interesting and varied career began in Regina as a house keeper and cook. Other jobs included the Red Cross where she assisted in the war effort by helping war brides, working as a dental assistant, matron of the Pioneer Lodge in Assiniboia and later at the Anderson Lodge in Yorkton. She was also a brief owner of the "Second Look Boutique" in Saskatoon. After her retirement, Marg resided in Saskatoon and finally in Outlook where she received excellent care at the Pioneer Lodge until her passing. Marg was a wonderful lady embodying great elegance and class. Her family appropriately referred to her as "the Queen". She will be remembered for her sense of humour, caring ways, and especially for her dedication to family. PARSONS, Kathleen Kathleen Parsons passed away at the Rosedale Hospice on August 22, 2007 two days before her 85th birthday. Kathleen will be lovingly remembered by her son Ron and grandchildren Ross, Ryan and Rebecca. She is also survived by her sister Pat Henderson, brother Doug (Peggy) Rodgers as well as extended family members. Kathleen is predeceased by her husband Ramsey, son Rodger and brother Bobby Rodgers. McARTHUR, David Alan March 13, 1954 - August 22, 2007 With great sadness, we announce the passing of David McArthur, who died peacefully in the arms of his family, thirty-eight days after suffering a heart attack. David is survived by his wife Joanne; daughter Sara; son Matthew; brothers Don and Kevin; sister Sue; father-in-law Ted Carpenter; sister-in-law Nancy Hobson; brothers-in-law Lee Rupertus and David Hobson; nieces Cody-Anne and Jessica; and nephews Lindsey and Jeremy. David is predeceased by his father, Donald and mother, Phyllis and by his mother-in-law Lillian Carpenter. He is also sadly missed by his beagle buddies, Baxter and Eddie. David had a very generous heart, a wonderful sense of humour, and was a great friend to many. He loved his family above everything else, but he also had a great love for the ocean and boating. He was an enthusiastic member of the Vancouver Wooden Boat Society. HNIDAN, Peter John Peter John Hnidan, born October 12, 1917 passed away in his home in Lethbridge on August 21, 2007. Peter is survived by and will be missed by his son Dennis (Effie) Hnidan; his daughter Kathleen Hnidan (Debbie Yanota); stepsons Don (Carol) Richardson and Jim Richardson; his sister Mary Tunke; and brothers Billy and Roy. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive him. Peter was predeceased by his first wife Doreen (Buxton), his second wife Jean (Richardson), a brother Victor, a sister Helen and a grandson Kenneth. Peter was raised on a homestead in Zawale, Alberta and often shared stories of his childhood and growing up in the Depression and war years. He left Zawale to attend school in Edmonton to become a machinist. He moved to Calgary and worked at the Ogden shops during the war. He later went on to a long career with Independent Machinery Ltd., retiring in 1984 to London, Ontario. Peter and Jean spent over twenty years in London with Jean's family where Peter spent countless hours at their family farm Meadowlily. After Jean's passing, Peter returned to Alberta and settled in Lethbridge to be nearer to his Alberta family, where he remained until his sudden passing. ANDREWS, William John July 16, 1925 - August 23, 2007 William Andrews of Calgary passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at the age of 82 years. William was born and raised in Calgary, AB. He worked for Canada Post until he retired. He belonged to the Golden Age Club and the Calgary Senior Men's Club. William is survived by two nephews and their families, Bob McAneeley and his wife Leslie and daughter Carlynn of St. Albert, AB, Ted McAneeley, his wife Carol and their children Lindsay, Shannon, Robin and Kaly of Kailua, Hawaii. MITCHELL, Kathleen May (nee Heppell) March 25, 1918 - August 22, 2007 Kathleen May Mitchell (nee Heppell) of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at the age of 89 years. Kathleen was born on March 25, 1918 in New Haven, Sussex, England, and came to Canada at the age of two, and lived her life in Calgary. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who spent her life spoiling her family and her many pets. Kathleen touched the lives of all who knew her and will be greatly missed. We thought she would never leave us but we take comfort as she begins her new journey. Kathleen will be sadly missed by her long-time friend and partner Robert Burroughs; her son Kenneth Roy Mitchell of Saskatoon, SK; her daughter and son-in-law, Melodie Ann and Brian McBeath of Calgary, AB; her precious grandchildren, Kimberley (Patrick) Kelly, Darin (Katie) McBeath, Kevin (Karen) McBeath, all of Calgary, Kathi (Brian) Day of Sherwood Park, AB, Bette Marie Mitchell of Victoria, BC, Debbie (Tom) Harris of Wabamun, AB, and Michele (John) Zemlack-Lee of Delburn, AB. FULTON, Aileen Louise (Collins) was born on a farm near Carberry, Manitoba on February 24th, 1914. When Aileen was 4 years of age her father Michael Collins at age 27 passed away and her mother was faced with the prospect of raising three young girls and one on the way as a single parent. The girls lived with their mother in Carberry until Aileen was in Grade 5. When her mother was forced to find work in Winnipeg, Aileen moved with her three sisters to Wymark, Saskatchewan to live with her Aunt Meta and Uncle Bill. After four and one half years in Wymark, she and her sisters moved to Winnipeg to be reunited with their mother and stepfather when Aileen was in Grade 9. Rather than continuing her education Aileen stayed home to help her mother raise her younger sisters and new brothers and sisters as a result of her mothers second marriage to Bill Martin who had three children of his own. When Aileen moved to Transcona to help out her Aunt Isabel she met her husband to be Bob and after two years they were wed. During her lifetime Aileen and her family lived in Transcona, Prince Albert, North Battleford, Saskatoon and Regina as Bob's job with the CNR dictated. Aileen and Bob would have celebrated their 69th anniversary in October of 2007. After a relatively short stay (July 27th to August 23rd) in the Pasqua Hospital, Aileen passed away peacefully at age 93 with family by her side. Until her brief stay in hospital Aileen had lived at home with her husband Bob who acted as her loving and dedicated caregiver in the latter years of her life. Aileen worked in the home all of her life and was a great wife, wonderful cook, gardener and homemaker, an understanding, compassionate and caring mother, an incredible and truly wonderful grandmother and great grandmother. Aileen loved young children and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were always able to make her laugh and smile. In her younger days Aileen loved to play ball, tennis, golf and curl, attend Roughrider games and accompany her husband in their travels to Florida and to Vancouver Island after retirement. Aileen is survived by her loving husband and best friend for 71 years, Bob, her son Michael and daughter in law Carol, her daughter Pat (Al), her special family member Elaine, her grandchildren Steven (Heather), Shawn (Kendra), Scott, Chris and Jennifer (Erik), her great grandchildren Rosco and Suki, and her sisters Marion (Lorne), Pat (George), Gwen (Walter), Joyce (Glen), Kay and brother Bill (Myrna), and a great many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Aileen's life will be held at the Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 East Victoria Ave., Regina, SK on Tuesday, August 28th at 10:00 A.M. Donations to a charity of your choice may be made in lieu of flowers. The family would like to thank the staff in Long Term Care Ward 4B at the Pasqua Hospital for their kindness, thoughtfulness and excellent level of care during mom's short stay there. CRAIG, Lucienne (nee Welter). On August 19, 2007, in her ninety-first year, at Manoir Soleil in Chambly after a long valiant struggle with Alzheimer's. Lucienne (Lou) was born in Barrie, Ontario on June 27, 1916. Her parents were Mathilde (nee Battens) and Florenz Welter and Lou was the third of four children, the others being: Charles, Lillian, and Mathilde (Til), all of whom, except Til having predeceased. Lou is also predeceased by her husband William H. Craig (Bill) who she married in Toronto in August 1940, prior to their leaving Canada to serve overseas, Bill with the RCASC and Lou with the Canadian Red Cross. Lou was a freelance broadcaster with the CBC and also an accomplished landscape painter and is deeply missed by her sister Mathilde (Tom Hanson), her son Bill Jr. (Lorraine Scott) and her cherished grandson William. Lucienne will be interred privately with her husband Bill in the Craig family plot at Cataraqui Cemetery, Kingston, Ontario. The family expresses its enormous gratitude to Mario Ladouceur, Sylvie Ouelette and all of the wonderful personnel at Manoir Soleil in Chambly for the kindness, affection and support they have given Lucienne since October 1998 when the Manoir became her new home. SZECSKAS, George - Passed away unexpectedly at Telfer Place, Paris on Thursday August 23, 2007, in his 85th year. Loving husband of Elizabeth. Much loved brother of Joe Szecskas and his wife Jean. He is predeceased by his brothers Steve and John and by his sisters Elizabeth and Mary. George worked for many years as a photographer and at Massey-Harris. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. Carol was a Charter Member of the Sweet Adelines Sarnia Chapter and was employed for many years at the Chatham Chamber of Commerce. Cremation has taken place. McKAY, Bernice Irene - Passed away on Friday, August 24, 2007 (in her 90th year) at the I.O.O.F Nursing Home in Barrie, beloved wife of the late John Kenneth McKay. Much loved mother of her only child Judy, and sadly missed and loved by her grandson John and son-in-law Wayne Davis, all of Barrie. Bernie was a former long time resident of Queen St., Elizabeth St., and a summer resident of Trout Lake.
