REILLY, Gerald L. (1931-2007). Korean War veteran, United Nations Peacekeeper, and Artist passed away peacefully at Ste-Anne's Veterans Hospital on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at age seventy-six. He leaves behind his beloved Mary (DeFrancesco) and their children, Lorraine (Keith), Arnold (Theresa), Linda (Jean-Paul), Gerald (Carmen), April (Bill), Patrick (Sharon), Laura (Art), and eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. ROZON, Wilfrid Joseph - Peacefully at the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre, Ottawa, on Thursday, August 23, 2007. Wilfrid Joseph Rozon, born May 17th, 1919, formerly of Apple Hill. Predeceased by his first wife Agnes Gallagher in 1983 and second wife, Doreen Martin in 1997. Father of Norman (Deanna) Rozon of Waterloo, Isobel (Pierre) Menard of Kingston and Gary (Deanna) Rozon of Ottawa. Step-father to Catherine, of Ottawa, Terry (Debbie) Martin and Brian (France) Martin, both of Montreal, Quebec. Grandpa to Dana (Rozon) Kinkade, Anne Menard and David Menard, Amelia, Charlotte and Veronica Rozon. Step-grandfather to Samantha, Christopher, Derek and Jason Martin. Brother of George (Anne) of Parry Sound, Hilaire of Thorold, Victoria (Alfred) Joseph of Hagersville, and Lydia Sauve of Vaudreuil, Quebec. Pre-deceased by brothers Albert, Alcide and Leo. Wilfrid was a veteran of the Canadian Army in World War II, having served in North Africa, Italy and Great Britain. After the war, he settled in Apple Hill and began a long career with the Canadian Pacific Railway, retiring in the position of Roadmaster. He was a member of the Apple Hill branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre on Tuesday, August 28th at 10:00 a.m. Private family internment service will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Apple Hill, later in the day. EVANS, Richard Owen Denby It is with deep sadness we mourn the passing of Denby at the age of 85. Born to Richard and Mary Evans in Trochu, Alberta. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Pat Hook (Tom), son Dick (Mary), grandchildren Aaron and Joleen Smith (Rob) and great grandchildren Kynan and little Denby, brother Dave (Aleta), sister-inlaws June, Ethel, Willa, Donna and many nieces and nephews. Denby was predeceased by his loving wife ZelIa, brothers Bill and Trevor and sister Nancy. Denby was well respected by many people in the community. He belonged to the fellowship of AA and lived this philosophy for the past 57 years of his life. Mary LaPerriere of Temagami died at the age of 89 on August 12, 2007, at the Temiskaming Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. LaPerriere was predeceased by her husband Charles LaPerriere, her son Charles and her sister Laura McKay. FREDERICK, George - Passed away peacefully at St. Catharines General Hospital on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at the age of 87. He is now reunited with his wife Anne, who predeceased him in 2002 after 62 years of marriage. George worked at Direct Winters Transport for over 40 years and in his retirement he spent his time traveling and refurbishing bicycles. Herb Martin Mise à jour le samedi 25 août 2007 - Joseph Herbert "Herb" Martin a accompli plusieurs choses au cours de ses 82 années parmi nous. Il a vécu sa vie avec enthousiasme, humour, curiosité, intégrité et avec beaucoup d'amour pour son épouse, Laurenna "Lorraine", sa famille, ses amis, ses voisins et toutes les personnes qu'il a rencontrées. Il était toujours prêt à aider - Cubs, Huron House Boys Home, Triple "C" Carvers, ses amis et voisins. Il prenait soin des autres, de son épouse, Lorraine, de sa soeur, Mildred et jusqu'à six semaines passées de tous ses amis du Manoir Marshall Gowland. C'était ce qu'il faisait de mieux et où il trouvait la joie. Nous sommes de meilleures personnes après l'avoir connu. Il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants: Debbie, Danny (Bonnie), Donna et David (Michelle); ses petits-enfants: Justin (Cindy), Jordan, Evan, Kyle et Réal; son frère, Don et sa soeur, Margaret; ses nièces et neveux, sa famille élargie, Clarkes, Cossabooms, Angelones, McGonnagals, Mathiesons, Lapointes, Levesques, Jeannie et Dennis Marshall, ainsi que Dave et Liz Moore et famille. OXBY, Margaret - Passed away peacefully at North York General Hospital on Monday August 6, 2007, in her 85th year. Deeply mourned by her beloved husband Wing Commander Douglas Oxby, D.S.O., D.F.C., D.F.M., RAF, (Ret'd) following 41 happy years together. Mother of Helen Ray and JoAnn Preston, she will be sadly missed also by grand-daughters Mindy, Katherine and Sasha as well as two great-grandchildren. Meg also had many friends in North York where in the 1970's and 1980's she played active roles in both the provincial and federal Conservative parties. SAUNDERS, RETA WINNIFRED - Died in Bridgewater, NS, August 23, 2007. Born in Midland, King's County, New Brunswick, daughter of Clarence Keirstead Walker and Gertrude Mae (Hall) Walker. Survived by husband, Edmund. Beloved mother of Joanne Hughes (John) and grandmother of Jennifer, Sarah, Stephanie, Natasha and Naomi Hughes of Mader's Cover, NS. Dear sister of Verna Allaby of Hamilton, Ontario; many nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. She grew up on a small farm, Reta graduated as a Registered Nurse from Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She went on to work at Pier 21 Halifax, NS and did private duty nursing. After marriage to Edmund, she worked in hospitals at Middleton, NS and Bridgewater, NS and finally settled in Lunenburg, NS working for 25 years at Fisherman's Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1983. An active member of the Lunenburg community, she loved to curl and was a life member of the United Church Women. During her professional career, she was involved in the Registered Nurses Association of Nova Scotia. Since moving to Bridgewater seven years ago, she attended the Bridgewater United Church. Retirement has been filled with full participation in the lives of her family and her main joy came from the pride and love she felt for her granddaughters; keeping them in a constant supply of cookies for school. No kinder, finer, more giving person; an example to everyone who knew her. Always thinking and caring for others in a cheerful way. An inspiration to us all. He is survived by his beloved wife Suzanne L'Ecuyer, his daughter Nathalie (Benoit Bourguignon), his son Gian-Carlo (Caroline Sabbah) and his loving grandsons Charles-Antoine, Massimo and Sacha-Giovanni. He is also survived by his goddaughters Maryse, Laurence and godson Richard, his brothers, his brother-in-law, his sisters-in-law, his nephews and nieces and many faithful friends. All his life he has been motivated by two passions: his family and his work as Senior Executive Vice-President, Corporate Affairs of the Montreal Exchange where he worked for forty years.
