URBAN, Jocelyn - Suddenly with her life partner, Sheila, by her side on Friday, August 17, 2007 at home, at the age of 47. Sadly missed by Sheila, and loving sisters Candace and husband Rob, Janice and partner Maureen. Loving aunt of Emily and Graham. Predeceased by her parents Joseph (2006) and Theresa (1975). Jocelyn will be missed by her many friends, relatives, colleagues, and her cat Pumpkin. At Jocelyn's request, cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to gather together at the ROSAR-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 467 Sherbourne Street (south of Wellesley) on Thursday, August 23, 2007 from 2 - 4 and 5 - 8 p.m. A celebration of Jocelyn's life will be held on Friday, August 24, 2007 at 10 a.m. at First Unitarian Church of Toronto, 175 St. Clair Avenue West. Interment to be held in Chelmsford, Ontario at a later date. In lieu of flowers a mass, memorial, or donation to the Animal Alliance of Canada would be appreciated by the family as your expression of sympathy.

WILSON, Vaila Sophia (nee Ranta) - In loving memory of Vaila Sophia Wilson (nee Ranta) who passed away August 18th, 2007 at Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre. Daughter of Elli and Antti Ranta both predeceased. Survived by her children Roger (wife Janice), Diane (husband Bernie). Cherished grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Margaret Holub (husband Roman predeceased), Martha Johnson (husband Bill), Andrew Ranta (wife Lila) and John Ranta predeceased. Sadly missed by her numerous nieces and nephews. Vaila was born at Creighton Mine on August 7th, 1918. She worked for the Federal Ministry of Health and Welfare Pension Division for 18 years. Upon retiring, she returned to Sudbury where she resided at the Finnish Rest Home. Vaila belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary at the home and crocheted a large number of afghans during her membership. She was a professional seamstress and knitting and crocheting were her passion. She was a devoted member of the United Church. Vaila will always be remembered with love by her family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St., Sudbury Wednesday, August 22nd at 1 p.m. Cremation at the Park lawn Crematorium. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

She was born in Sudbury and married Roger Vigneault in 1987 in Sudbury. Susan had been a waitress for many years at the Lodo Restaurant & Bamboo Restaurant retiring due to failing health in 1991. She will be remembered as a person who spoke their mind and was well respected by all who knew her. She was devoted to her loving family. Beloved wife of Roger Vigneault of Sudbury. Loving mother of Brian St. Martin predeceased, Mark St. Martin (wife Stacey), Crystal Hunt (husband Joe), Roger Vigneault (wife Tracy) and Christopher Vigneault (wife Shawn) all of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Meagan, Marshall, Austin, Brandon, Eric, William, Paige, Gregory and Xavier. Dear daughter of Randolph and Irene both predeceased. SCHAUB, Heinz Otto (Henry) March 19th, 1936-August 17th, 2007 - On Friday morning at the age of 71, in Sudbury, Henry (formerly of Brockville) went home to be with his Lord and Saviour. Son of the late Franz Schaub and Klara Schaub. Beloved husband of Marie Kostuik (nee Bishop) of Chelmsford. Loving father to Steven and wife Bente of Yellowknife, Jeff and wife Mary of Simcoe, David and wife Sandra of Oshawa and Tammy Latham and husband Peter of Prescott. Predeceased by his daughter Lisa. Beloved grandfather/father to Jennifer. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Stevie, Robbie, Jeffrey, Michael, Gary, Ricky, Matthew, Samantha, Angel, Elizabeth, Natasha and Corey. As well as his great grandchildren, Amara, Evan, Noah, Euan, and Ashton. Predeceased by his brother Wolfgang (Eleanor) of Kingston. Dear brother of Klaus (Marie) of Maitland, Paul (Susan) of North Augusta, Peter (Lynda) of Kingston and sister Rose Huber (Ingelburg) of Invery. His loss has broken the hearts of the people who loved him, but his calm, strong and persistent spirit will guide them through their grief. MAKI, Mirjam (nee Kotila) - In loving memory of Mirjam Maki (nee Kotila) 87 years who passed away at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Center on Friday, August 17th, 2007. Beloved wife of the late Joe Maki (predeceased). Loving mother of Henry (Marilyn) of Worthington and the late Jane McMurray (surviving husband Steve of Lively). Cherished grandmother of Ryan, Ava Liisa and Joseph and great- grandmother of Torrie and Emily. Predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters of Finland. Mirjam was born in Jurva, Finland on September 2nd, 1919 and came to Canada in 1952. She lived in Walden for many years prior to becoming a resident of Finlandia Nursing Home in Sudbury. Many will also remember her as a dedicated member of the Finnish Resthome Association and of St. Timothy's Finnish Lutheran Church. As per her wishes there will be no visitation or service. DEVRIES, Bill “Dutchie“ - With his loving family at his side, he left us peacefully on August 21st, 2007 at the age of 62. Survived by the two women who loved him and were lucky enough to be loved by him, Leilani Devries and Anita Devries-Burger. Loving father of Elisabeth (Dan Kingsley), Carolyn (Roc Larivière) and Selena (Michael Hill). Treasured Opa of Eric, Kyle, Rochelle, Rémy and Sarah. Sadly missed by furry friends Magoo and Maggie. Bill took great pride in his career as a Warehouse Supervisor for INCO for over 40 years. As requested by Bill there will be no service. Instead, a celebration of his life will be held at his home at 404 Morris Street, Sudbury from 6 until 9 pm on Thursday, August 23rd. All friends and family, past and present are most warmly invited to join us, but with respect please no black attire. KUREK, Stanley Joseph On Thursday, August 23, 2007, Stan passed away after a brief battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Pearl Kurek. BALLANTYNE, William “Bill“ Anderson - On Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007 at the St. Catharines General Hospital in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Hilda (nee Spence) for 27 years. Stepfather of Carl (Sandra) Stevens. Grandfather to Carole Jean (Bill) Gillespie, Carl Jr. (Laura), James, and great grandfather to Samantha, Amanda, Alex, Brooke and Madison. Survived by his sister Helen of Scotland, sister-in-law Shirley (Ken) Farmer of St. Catharines and many nieces & nephews. Bill was employed with Exolon for 40 years before retiring in 1987. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17, Thorold for 50 years. Bill enjoyed golfing, darts and was a member of the Thorold Conservation Club. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the HAMMOND FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Monday from 10:00-12:00 noon. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, August 27th at 12:00 noon. FOROWICZ, Jadwiga (nee Szumielewicz). On August 21, 2007, lost her long and heroic battle with illness. Dr. Forowicz taught economics at the University of Montreal, University of Quebec in Montreal, and University of Wroclaw, Poland. A talented academician and scholar, with a number of books published to her name both in Canada and Poland. She was the most wonderful and loving wife and mother, and leaves behind heartbroken husband Andrzej, and daughters Magdalena and Weronika. A funeral mass will take place on August 25, at 11 a.m. Church of Holy Trinity, 1660 Centre Street, Montreal. Interment will take place in Poland at a later date. September 3, 1955 THE COACH MURRAY, Glenford A. (Glen) died Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Bluewater Health - Palliative Care. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Carol J. Murray, sons Dana, Sarnia, Greg, London and daughter Corrinne, Toronto, grandchildren Ben, Zach and Josh of Sarnia, and Angus, Olivia and Abigail of London. Will be missed by sister Beverly (Jack) McCabe, St. Catharines and their children and brother Robert (Lynn) Murray and their children, Niagara Falls. Also survived by sisters-in-law Marilyn (Jack) Finkelstein, Winnipeg and her children, and Jeri Branton, Vancouver and her child. Predeceased by his father Robert Murray (1985) and father-in-law Gerry Pike (1963). Predeceased by the two best cooks in the world, his mother Irene Murray (1992) and mother-in-law Ruth Pike (1976). Glen loved good food. He was born in Ottawa and moved to Sarnia to play football for the Sarnia Imperials. He also coached football with Bill Pataky and Al Braekevelt. He worked for Suncor and Catalytic for 38 years. The Detroit Lions, Red Wings and Tigers have lost a very loyal fan. He leaves behind to mourn him his barking girls Maggie and Jenny. He was a member of Grace United Church, the Y.M.C.A. and recently received his 50 year pin from the Masons. Cremation has taken place. At Glen's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Friends and family are invited to an interment service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2007, at Resurrection Cemetery, 1885 London Line, Sarnia. Florence Watson, of RR 2 Walkerton, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Wednesday, August 15, 2007. She was 94. Born in Albemarle Township, daughter of the late Thomas and Elfride (nee Johnson) Rydall. Survived by son-in-law Gary Gaeler of RR 2 Walkerton, grandchildren Blair (Debbie) Gaeler, Sheri Lynne Ward (Wayne) and great-grandchildren Greg and Jefferson Gaeler, Shayne and Dakota Ward. Also survived by four step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren, step-great-great-grandchildren and nephew Al Rydall. Predeceased by husband Percy Sr., son Percy Jr. and wife Ruth, daughter Shirley Gaeler, and three brothers, Thomas, Stan and Wilf. A Memorial Service was held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover on Monday, August 20, 2007 at 11 am. Rev. Rob Hiscox officiated. Cremation, with interment in Hanover Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation were appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
