GADBOIS, Lorraine - On Thursday July 26, 2007, at the age of 73, Lorraine Gadbois, my mother, my friend, lost her battle with cancer. Mom was a fun loving, amazing person, who was never “2 TYERD“ to enjoy life. She will be greatly missed by her 4 sisters, Ange-Aimee Quinlan, Rachelle Larocque, Rejeanne D'Aoust, Liliane Leroux (Roger) and her 2 brothers, Gaston Gadbois and Martial Gadbois. She is now reunited with her 3 brothers, Roland Gadbois, Renald Gadbois and Laurian Gadbois and also with her parents, Alice Gadbois (nee Marion) and Alexandre Gadbois. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and her many friends. There will be a small ceremony at Notre Dame Cemetery on Friday August 3rd, 2007 at 2:00pm. BOVE, Giuseppe “Joe” - Suddenly on July 30, 2007, Giuseppe “Joe” Bove, beloved husband of Linda (Stranges) and devoted father of Lori Marie (Zoltan Bata), beloved son of Maria Bove and the late Sebastiano Bove, brother of Emilia Leo (Joe), Tony Bove (Heather), brother-in-law of John Stranges (Josephine). Son-in-law of the late John Stranges and the late Vera Stranges. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Joe was an active member of Club Italia where he served as President and Vice President. He was also a dedicated employee of the Niagara Parks Commission. PARLEE, Hugh Ransford April 30, 1927 - July 30, 2007 Predeceased by his wife Margaret who lies at rest in the West Indian Island of St. Christopher. Will be very sadly missed by his brother Bill (Carmen) Mersereau and by his many nieces and nephews and old friends. Hugh spent a number of years from 1968 on the West Indian Island St. Kitts where he established a teachers training college under the direction of C.I.D.A. Hugh was well liked and highly thought of by his friends and colleagues. His thoughtful and considerate treatment to all he came in contact with will be long remembered. OBITUARY CEOFRID GAUDET 1920 - 2007 In his eighty-eighth year, at the B.M.P. hospital in Cowansville, with his son and eldest daughter singing gently to him, passed away Ceofrid (Ceo) Gaudet on July 27, 2007, after an arduous and courageous battle with lung cancer. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Campbell, and his children, Sheryl (and Michel), Clovia and Ceo jr. (and Caroline), and his beloved granddaughter Thea. He is grieved by sister Florence and brother Edmond and numerous other relatives and friends. CHARABIN-Walter John, born on October 16, 1935 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully at the Saskatoon City Hospital on Friday, July 27, 2007. Walter is predeceased by his parents Frederick and Pauline (nee Kindrachuk) Charabin, his sister Nel Bouey and his brother Ken Charabin. Walter is survived by his son Paul Charabin, his stepdaughter Aldine McConnell, and his sister Sylvia Sharpe. As well as many other family and friends that he loved and cherished. After being raised with his family in North Battleford, Walter completed a bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Saskatchewan. Until his retirement, Walter held positions with various Saskatchewan government departments including Social Services, Indian affairs, and Crop Insurance. After his retirement from Crop Insurance, Walter returned to The Battlefords area where he spent his remaining years surrounded by friends and family. Walter had a strong passion for the arts and enjoyed not only creating his on pottery but teaching others in the community. His many works of pottery are proudly displayed in the homes of friends and family. A celebration of Walter's life will be held at Willow Heights Community Hall (5 miles East on Highway 40 and 2.5 miles North on the Willow Heights grid, North Battleford) on Thursday, August 2 beginning at 7 pm. COLBORNE, Gerald L. - 1924 to 2007 Jerry has sailed on to a higher sea... He drifted away peacefully on Friday, July 27, 2007 with his family by his side. Jerry was predeceased by his son Gary and grandson Michael. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Julia, son Terry (Diana) of Cockrane, AB, step-sons Len (Simone) of Wpg, Larry (Jackie) of Regina, Lloyd (Donna Sentes) of Thunder Bay, ON, grandsons Paul (Tona) Sentes of Wpg, Dean (Iona) Sentes of Calgary, Patrick Sentes of Regina, granddaughters Leila (Alan) Olinger, Kelsey Sentes (John), Tara Sentes (ON), great grandchildren Kristen, Alana, Devin, Matthew, Shane, Eric and Nicholas. Jerry was born in Fort William, Ontario. He served throughout W.W. II with the Royal Canadian Navy in the North Atlantic Theatre. Following the war service, Jerry attended University of Alberta, graduating with a B.S.C. in Mining Geology. He had a wide experience in exploration and development of Canada's mineral resources, having carried out programs in all provinces but P.E. I.. Jerry serviced with Saskatchewan Department of Mineral Resources before he joined the Saskatchewan Department of Industry and Commerce as Mineral Consultant, in 1967 he was appointed Deputy Minster. In 1967 he was awarded the Canada Centennial Medal for services to the nation. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. EXELBY, Ross - of Moose Jaw, formerly of Craik Sask., passed away peacefully on July 29th, 2007 at Pioneer Lodge, Moose Jaw Sask. Ross was born on September 21st 1932 in Craik, where he spent most of his life, until he retired to Moose Jaw in 2002. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Nora Exelby, an infant daughter Mary, brother Gerald and many in-laws. Ross was forever a farmer, having a great interest and love in all aspects of farming. Many hours were spent studying pedigrees of harness race horses, and in the last few years Ross studied Red Angus and Black Angus Beef Cattle, which he successfully raised. His family was his pride and joy. Dorothy, Ross's wife of 50 years, sons Willie (Diane); Dan (Shannon) Dennis; and Tom, daughters, Tery (Jim) Smith; Gail (Stewart) Quinn; Margo (Paul) Rolheiser, eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; five sisters and one brother, will miss him greatly. BROWN, Anna Lou Anna Lou passed away peacefully on Friday, July 27, 2007 at the age of 76. Anna Lou was born July 22, 1931 in Osgoode Station, Ontario. Anna Lou is survived by her loving husband, Jack; two daughters, Barbara Ann (Brent) and Diana Lynn; one son, Douglas Raymond; her mother, Vera Boyd of Manotick, Ontario; several nieces and nephews in Ontario; her eight grandchildren, Kelly, Kyle, Jami, Jenna, Maclean, Christopher (Roxanne), Marcie (Cory), David and one great-granddaughter, Brynne. Anna Lou married Jack, March 26, 1957 in Calgary. She attended school in Kars and Ottawa, Ontario prior to coming to Calgary. Anna Lou and Jack spent over sixteen winters in Phoenix, Arizona, in part with her family. Anna Lou was an avid golfer and a long-time member of the Earl Grey Golf Club in Calgary. Anna Lou loved fishing and the outdoors and was very dedicated to her family, always putting them first. Anna Lou will be sadly missed by her family and friends, and remembered as a loving, kind, warm and compassionate person. A private family celebration of Anna Lou's life will be held. McLAUCHLIN, Arnold It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Arnold Maxwell McLauchlin on Friday, July 27, 2007. He is survived by his loving wife Doris of sixty-one years; his children, Arlene (Arie) Segstro and Cal (Kathy) McLauchlin; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Codey (Jolene) Segstro and their children Jayden and Shae, Sommer (Dan) Benwood and their children Abigail and Ella, Trevor (Melissa) Segstro and Curtis (Nicky) McLauchlin. He is also survived by his brother Loyd (Lorraine), sisters Alvine and Carol, sister-in-law Annie and numerous nieces and nephews. Arnold was born on September 28, 1924 in Sibbald, AB. He was the sixth son of eight children born to Beemer and Mabel McLauchlin and raised in the farming community of Lyalta, AB. Arnold married Doris Koch of Strathmore on November 21, 1945 and for ten years they farmed in Keoma and Rockyford, AB. In 1959 they moved to Calgary to raise their family. Arnold worked as a supervisor for Purity Dairy for many years and then went into business for himself. He and Doris retired in 1979 and vacationed in Hawaii, Florida and Jamaica. They also enjoyed camping throughout the USA, BC and Alberta. When they could no longer travel, Arnold enjoyed hearing about his children and grandchildren's adventures. Arnold loved and followed sports throughout his life. As a young man, he played hockey for the Big Six League in Calgary, was a skilled ball-player, curler and golfer. He was very involved with Cal's hockey and in later years enjoyed watching and hearing about his grandchildren's accomplishments in sports. Arnold was a partner, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend with a subtle sense of humor. He inspired us, encouraged us to be the best we could be, frustrated us, moved us and connected us. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. CARR, Beatrice "Bea" (nee Rodgers) October 10, 1921 - July 17, 2007 Beatrice Carr passed away peacefully July 17, 2007 at the Rockyview General Hospital, Calgary after a brief illness. Beatrice was born, the seventh of ten children, in a log cabin on October 10, 1921 near Cut Knife, Saskatchewan. Her parents were William and Sarah (nee Duvall) Rodgers. Beatrice lived most of her life in the Cut Knife community where she raised her two children, Richard and Lynda. She moved to nearby Unity where she worked for a few years after her children were grown. She moved to Calgary in 1979 where she worked for St. Clair Paint and Wallpaper until she retired in 1986. Beatrice enjoyed her retirement years. She was very involved with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, swimming, hiking, bowling and various activities with her friends at Austin Nixon Manor. Beatrice is lovingly remembered by her two children Richard Parker (Mary Ellen "Marty") of Toronto, Ontario and Lynda Parker, of Calgary, and two grandchildren, Shayne Jensen (Joy Evenson) and Alana Parker. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Dargie, the nurses and staff of the Rockyview General Hospital for the compassionate care provided to Beatrice during the last weeks of her life. CRNKOVIC, Ivan 1914 - 2007 Ivan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at the age of 93 years. He was born in Medven, Draga, Croatia and immigrated to Canada in 1958. He is survived by his children Vlado (Katica), Ivan (Ljubica), Slavica (Ivan) Bandic, Miro (Mary-Jane), and Bozidar (Karen), along with twelve grandchildren, Robert (Carrie), Christina, Margaret (Nick), Tihomir (Silvana), Johnny, Benjamin, Ivica, Tomislav, Kristina, David, Corbin, Tegan and four great-grandchildren, Cody, Daniella, Jacob and Cameron.
