TANNER M. Frederick, Edward 1932 - 2007 Fred Tanner, homme d'affaires bien connu des Cantons de l'Est et autrefois maire de Cowansville, est décédé paisiblement à l'hôpital B.M.P. le 18 juillet, suite à une longue lutte contre le cancer. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse bien-aimée depuis 55 ans Grace, ses enfants : Pamela (Brian Shemilt), Deborah (Darrell Orban), Shirley (Ross Daniel) et Ted (Louise Maheu), huit petits-enfants et quatre arrière-petits-enfants. MOON, Gerald Retired, National Research Council Peacefully, on July 20, 2007, in hospital at the age of 68, after a courageous struggle with Multiple Myeloma. Born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Jerry ventured east to begin a satisfying 35-year career at NRC in the Fuels & Lubricants Laboratory. He pursued a short second career in Real Estate, after which he fully retired to enjoy his favourite pastimes of golf and the cottage, sometimes combining the two. More recently, he looked forward to cheering at novice-level hockey tournaments. Jerry will be sadly missed by his family. He was a loving husband to Joan (Kelleher), and loving father to daughters, Laurie (Peter Zoutis), Ottawa, and Robin Moon (Robb MacKay), Kingston, ON. The lights of his life were his grandchildren, Alexander and Stacey Zoutis and Agnes MacKay. Jerry is also survived by devoted brothers, Arnold (Alice) Moon, St. Albert, AB, and Alan (Geri) Moon, Calgary and by his cherished sister, Helen Moon, Salt Spring Island, B.C. He will also be fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and families in Alberta and Dundas, ON and by a host of friends everywhere. A service of Celebration of Life will be held at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home and Chapel, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, on Tuesday, July 24 at 3:00 p.m. Friends are invited to visit with the family prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. and to stay for a reception afterward. Many thanks to Dr. Harold Atkins and staff of the BMT team, as well as to the dedicated nurses of Medical Daycare 5 West, Ottawa Hospital General Campus, for their 5 years of concern and care. SPRINGER, Gordon "GUS" Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday July 20th, 2007 at 86 years. Beloved husband of Elta (Wickey) for 64 years. Survived by brothers Glenn (Ellen) of Tillsonburg ON, and Gerald (Bernice) of Moose Jaw SK, and many cousins. Devoted father to sons Raymond and Gary and daughters Cheryl, Joanne, and Sandra. Proud grandfather of Steven, Shelly, Michael, and Alena and six great-grandchildren. Gordon was born in Weyburn, SK on August 23, 1920. GUS joined the Air Force after graduating from Weyburn Collegiate and retired from the RCAF after 28 years of service. Gordon then accepted a position with the Public Service of Canada, working another 14 years for both Public Works and Canada Post Headquarters, retiring for the second time in 1982. Gordon and Elta were fortunate to have spent the next 20 winters in Florida. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Montfort Hospital. A Memorial Service to be held at a later date. BARILKO, ALEXANDER 1932-2007 The family announces with great sorrow his death at the Timmins and District Hospital on Sunday, July 15th, 2007 at the age of 75 years. Loving husband of Mary (nee Sarkotich) of Schumacher and dearest father of Evelyn Barilko of Timmins. Brother in-law of Walter Sarkotich of Schumacher. He is also survived by his only sister, Mary Cattarello of Timmins and brother Edward Barilko of Oshawa. Predeceased by his parents Stephen & Alexandra Barilko as well as by his brothers William & Nicohlas. Alexander was the youngest son of a pioneer Timmins family. His parents and grandparents immigrated from Russia in 1912 and purchased land on Cedar St. from Noah Timmins. The family built the International Hotel, an early Timmins landmark. Marie Alice Lorette (Laura) Conlin On July 10, 2007 Mrs. Marie Alice Lorette Conlin died in the F.J. Davey Home in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She had moved to Sault Ste. Marie in May of 1993. Mrs. Conlin was born September 25, 1918, to Jeremie and Aline Brazeau in Ste.-Cecile-de-Masham, Gatineau, Quebec. She was educated in Milberta and Kerns Township. She married Bernard Conlin on November 3, 1942, in New Liskeard. She worked at Eplett’s Ice cream, Mac’s Grocery, C.T.C., Temiskaming Hardware and T.D.S.S. She was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She is survived by husband Bernard, sons Ron (Agnes), Denny (Judy) and Jim (Connie), grandchildren, Shauna, Tim, Krista, Terry, Kim and Sam; great-grandchildren, Kianah, Tysel, Kaden, Kyla; siblings Marcel Brazeau, Bertha Landry, Gertie Chicoine, Simone Desmarais and Irene Brazeau. The funeral was located at the Perrin Funeral Chapel, officiated by Father John Lemire. She was laid to rest in the New Liskeard Catholic Cemetery. Ruth Gray The family announces with sorrow the death of Mrs. Ruth Gray who passed away at the Temiskaming Hospital, New Liskeard on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the age of 83 years. She was born on May 12, 1924 in Tarbran, Scotland. Mrs. Gray was a self employed hairdresser in Haileybury and came from Scotland to Canada in 1928. Mrs. Gray was predeceased by her parents: Alex and Jessie (Porteous) Little, brothers Alex and Jim Little, sister Mary Sheppard and grandson Mark Schnakenberg. She is survived by her loving children: Hans (Christine) Schnakenberg of Haileybury, Darlene Landriault of Cochrane and Maureen Plante (Steve Shields) of Haley Station. Also left to mourn are her grandchildren: Kurtis, Jessica, Saxon, Jennifer, Sydney, Jeremy and Josh. She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings: Nancy (Roy) Peters of New Liskeard and Bob (Marilyn) Little of Bass Lake. Englehart resident Margaret Tubman died July 14, 2007 at the Englehart and District Hospital. Born in Heaslip Township on July 13, 1920 to George and Margaret Porter, she married Reuben Tubman in Englehart on December 3, 1941. Mrs. Tubman enjoyed family times, gardening, baking, camping and fishing. She was also a member of Branch 104 of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary where she was past president. Mrs. Tubman is survived by her children Wayne (Mary) of Munster, Ontario, Linda (Larry Foulan) of Burlington, Lee of St. Thomas, Garry (Susan) of London and Doug of Englehart; sisters Irene Stone of Englehart, Beatrice (Romeo Couillard) of Kirkland Lake, Grace Mills of Englehart, Muriel Plaunt of Englehart; brothers Donald Porter from Cochrane and Sheldon Porter from Sudbury; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Reuben; daughter Donna; daughter-in-law Collette; sister Alice McLean; brothers John, Lloyd, Leonard, Hugh, Meryl and Murray Porter. The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart with the service conducted there July 18 at 11 a.m. by Linda Martin. Burial is at the Englehart Cemetery. Barbara Eno The family announces with sorrow the death of Barbara Eno of Cobalt at the age of 73. Mrs. Eno passed away suddenly at the Temiskaming Hospital on July 15, 2007 following a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Cobalt on September 15, 1933 to the late Dovillio and Loretta (O’Grady) Fraboni. She had lived in Cobalt all of her life and worked as an operator for Northern Telephone and for 24 years as the Head Librarian of the Cobalt Public Library. Mrs. Eno enjoyed crafts, cooking and time spent with her loving grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of family, her kindness, generosity and for always putting others first. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Campbell “Cam” Eno and her brothers Ralph, Morris and Thomas Fraboni. She is survived by her loving daughters Margaret Anne (Jeffrey) Tomkins of North Bay and Florence Eno of Kirkland Lake; her beloved grandchildren Jerret and Jenna Tomkins; siblings Raymond (Addie) Fraboni, Bill (Muriel) Fraboni, George (Anne) Fraboni, Marie (late George) Birnie, Florence (Lawrence) Tresidder, Marilyn and Frances Fraboni; sister-in-law Frances-Clare Fraboni; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. KASEPCHUK, William “Bill“ - In loving memory of William “Bill“ Kasepchuk, 84 years, who passed away Tuesday July 17th, 2007 at the SRH St. Joseph's Health Centre. Born in Windsor, Bill came to the Sudbury area settling in Creighton. He was an accomplished pitcher who had been drafted by the Detroit Tigers. Upon arriving in our area he played for the Creighton Indians. He was a champion pitcher for the team and referred to as “Big Bill Kasepchuk“. With age he became an avid sportsfan, maintaining a passion for baseball and a disdain for modern day players and their focus on themselves. A proud Canadian Bill had done a brief stint with the Royal Canadian Navy and he was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He had been a miner for over 25 years at INCO retiring in 1977. Presently he resided at the Valley Inn in Azilda where he enjoyed socializing with his friends. Beloved father of Diane Lavallie (husband Brian), Rena Paquette, Gary (wife Winnie), Mark (wife Sheila), Helen Caron, Bill (wife Suzanne) and Roger predeceased 1981. Cherished grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary, his brothers George and Paul and his former wife Irene (nee Larocque). MAY, Timothy Doherty Timothy Doherty May passed away suddenly on July 15, 2007 of a brain hemorrhage at age 39. He is survived by his wife, Julianne May of Santa Cruz; two sons, Harrison and Thomas both of Santa Cruz; his parents, Kathleen (Kiki) May (nee Howells) of Cremona, Canada, Thomas May of Afton, OK; his two brothers, Tony May of New Castle, CO and Russell (Hal) May of Orlando, FL. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family and many close friends in both the United States and Canada. In February, he was predeceased by his beloved Auntie Mimi. Tim was born in Grove and grew up in Miami, Oklahoma. He graduated from Miami High School in 1985 and later attended University of Oklahoma where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Political Science. Tim spent several years in Calgary and Vancouver, Canada before moving to Santa Cruz in 2000. He worked in the technology industry in Silicon Valley. He later began working for UCSC and was subsequently promoted to program analyst supporting the Chancellor's Office. Tim loved spending time with his wife and two boys and with young children from among his many friends and family. He was an accomplished photographer and enjoyed camping, fishing and other active pursuits. A vigil Prayer Service was held Thursday, July 19 at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel. On Friday, July 20, a Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church and Interment took place in the Santa Cruz Memorial Park. PARR, Patrick Joseph 1985 - 2007 Patrick was born on September 19, 1985 in Oshawa Ontario. He spent most of his life in Okotoks, AB. He was taken from us on July 5, 2007 at the age of 21. His mother Kathleen, father Garfield and sister Meghan, grandparents Doris Lyttle, Garfield and Elizabeth Parr, will dearly miss Patrick. His grandfather Joseph Lyttle predeceased him. PERRY, Joan Patricia May 10, 1929 - July 20, 2007 Joan Patricia Perry, beloved wife of Bernard Dyson Perry of Calgary, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2007 at the age of 78 years. Joan was born May 10, 1929 in Saskatoon, SK. She married Bernard on August 18, 1951 in Saskatoon and moved to Calgary in 1952. Joan was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for fifty-eight years, during which time she provided leadership throughout the city. She retired from Mobil Oil in 1987 after thirty-one years of meritorious service and was an active member of the Mocana Club. Besides her loving husband, Bernard, Joan is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gregg and Jennifer Perry of Duncan, BC; and her three grandchildren, Joel (Callie) Perry, Cathryn (Cameron) Walter, and Clare Perry. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Johnny Propst of Charlottesville, VA. Passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2007 at the age of 86 years surrounded by her loving family. GUALTIERI, Mark Nixon 1963-2007 We are devastated by the loss of our cherished son Mark, dearly loved only son of (Prof. Antonio) Nino and Peggy Gualtieri and beloved brother of Julia (Maher), Joanna (Serge) and Sarah (Maria Elena). Mark died peacefully on the deck of his cabin, under the stars and pine boughs at our Aylen Lake cottage, Mark's spiritual home, on Thursday, July 19. We remember him as a fearless and curious little boy and as a man tender toward others, especially in his love for his nephews, Nicola, Zacharie, and Sebastien. We will hold in our hearts forever the memories of a happy and helpful nine year old in our drive across Africa to India in 1972-73, and of a young man proud and protective of his sisters. We are thankful for his gifts of caring kindness, winsome humour, his marvelous Thai meals, and for the happiness he found in adventuring from Newfoundland to the Rockies and in Southeast Asia. In spite of personal pain and struggle, he flourished in his occupation as a renovator/landlord. Mark will be remembered by Lisa Martin and her daughter Riza. KEETCH, William "Bert" After a long, happy and beautiful life, at Miramichi Lodge, Pembroke on July 19, 2007, at 90 years of age. Bert was born June 14, 1917 in Huntsville Ontario, first born son of William and Eva (Staples) Keetch. After much travel and varied work experiences around Ontario, Bert met and married Lena (Kulczycki) in Toronto in 1946. His love of nature and rural life brought him to Killaloe Ontario, where he and Lena established many businesses, raised five children, and lived out their entire married life. Bert is happily remembered by his wife of sixty-one years, Lena, and his children, Brain (Liz) of Carleton Place, Barry of Killaloe, Charlene (Randy) of Micksburg, Cheryl (Frank) of Killaloe, Tammy (Steve) of Victoria BC. His was adored by and will always be remembered by his four grandchildren, Anne, Stayci, Nick and Erica. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Ethal (Bob), brothers Ken and Willie (Gerta), and many nieces and nephews. Bert was pre-deceased by his sister Camille and both his parents. Friends are invited to visit at Zummach Funeral Home in Killaloe, on Sunday July 22nd from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Member of the first graduating class of St. Joseph's Academy (now High School) in Renfrew. Gertrude was a lifelong devout Roman Catholic who took great comfort from her faith and her family.
