BOUDREAU, Mark - 1954-2007 - The family announces with sorrow, his passing in Ottawa on February 12, 2007, at the age of 52 years. Beloved son of Patricia (nee Normandeau) and the late Philip Boudreau (predeceased 2005), formerly of Val Thérèse. He also leaves behind his son Matthew, sister Elaine, brother-in-law Gerry Ouellette and the mother of his son Gail Thorpe, all of Ottawa. Older brother to late siblings Donald and Philip, Jr. (predeceased 1981). Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Mark was raised in Val Thérèse where he developed a lifelong love of hockey, baseball, and the great outdoors. Following graduation from Confederation High School, he continued his studies at York University (BA), and the University of Victoria where he received his master's in public administration (MPA). After embarking on his career, Mark held various positions on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, as well as in the private sector; among them, senior policy advisor to the Minister of National Revenue, senior economic and trade policy analyst for the Liberal National Caucus Research Bureau, vice-president of public and government relations for the Certified General Accountants' Association of Canada, and two senior level positions in the Economic Development and Finance ministries of Nunavut's territorial government. He taught at Algonquin College (Ottawa), wrote for many professional journals and served on numerous committees and boards including the Advisory Board of the National Press Club. In 2006, he was elected to Iqaluit (Nunavut) City Council. However, the most fulfilling role Mark played in life was as Matthew's father - they loved to travel, play golf, attend sporting events, and shared a passion for riding roller coasters. In his quieter moments, he liked to read and take long walks. Mark did not let an inoperable tumour slow him down and we are proud that he was able to live a full and interesting life right to the very end. His courage was a real inspiration to those around him. A private family service took place on February 16, 2007. A Memorial Service attended by family, friends, and colleagues, was held at TABARET HALL CHAPEL (UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA) on April 12, 2007. CRANE, Russell Elwood. Born February 15, 1914 in Cookshire, Quebec, passed away June 26, 2007. Russell lived an independent life until ten days before his death and he will be missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of fifty-seven years, Marie-Paule Sirois. Russell was a wonderful father to his son Robert and his wife, Judith. His grandchildren, Jennifer and Robert Jr., adored him as did their spouses Geoffrey and Fukuko. In recent years he derived much pleasure from his great-grandchildren Emily and Shinya Edward. Born in Cambuslang, Scotland on March 31, 1925, she is predeceased by her devoted and loving husband, Frank. OBITUARY Alfred Salomon Guetta (Fred) Passed away June 27, 2007 at the Jewish General Hospital at the age of seventy-nine years. Fred is survived by his son Mike (Katya), daughter Natalie Mactaggart (Allan), grandchildren Callan, Kirsten and Brian, brother Robert (Sophie), sisters Renee Saul, Aviva Rothfeld (Haim), Arlette Nahaissy (Joe) and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Jeannette Brosh and brother-in-law Cesar Saul. Fred was born in Cairo, Egypt. Some of his happiest childhood memories included going to the movies on Saturdays to see "western films", such as Laurel & Hardy and spending his summers visiting his many relatives in Alexandria. Fred left for Paris, France in 1948, at the age of twenty. He worked with IBM punch card accounting systems, and then sold Friden calculating machines. Fred moved on to work with the Marshall Plan, where he held several different staff coordination positions during the reconstruction of Europe. Fred moved to Canada in 1953 and became the data processing coordinator for Canadian International Paper. In 1962, he was offered the job of data processing coordinator at the American embassy in Paris. This was a turning point in his life, where at the age of thirty-five, he decided to leave the world of computers. Not technical by nature, he was happiest dealing with people. Fred moved into a sales position with OE (Office Equipment of Canada) and worked as a top performing salesman for fifteen years in the office furniture division. He then became divisional sales manager for ten years. Through his life Fred carried with him a deep sense of responsibility and a high level of integrity. Fred had a wonderful way of telling stories and was someone people naturally gravitated to. He will be missed by all who loved him and fondly remembered for his warm, kind and generous spirit. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers and staff in palliative care at the Jewish General. MENICAN, Nicholas (Nick) Jr. - June 15, 1947 - June 28, 2007. After a brief battle with cancer, Nick passed away on June 28, 2007, just days after celebrating his 60th birthday. He is survived by his children Gabe and Addie and wife Maureen. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his parents Nick and Betty Menican and his sister Ann (Doug Hayes). He is predeceased by his mother Jeanne. Nicky was born in Buffalo, N.Y. and raised in Sudbury, attending St. Louis deGonzague, Sacred Heart College and St. Charles College, where he was an honour student and an avid high school athlete. After moving to British Columbia over 30 years ago, he became a millwright and worked in northern B.C. He also lived in Toronto and Montreal for short periods of time, but always returned to his true passion, British Columbia, settling in Squamish with his family. Nicky's twins were the light of his life, always being extremely proud of their accomplishments and wanting the best for them. Being a father was very important to him. PYE, LAWRENCE G. - The death of Lawrence Gregory "Greg" Pye of Saint John, NB, occurred on Friday, June 29, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was a son of the late John and Belinda (King) Pye. Greg was employed with Canada Post, Sugar Refinery and more recently Crane (Canada) as a stores supervisor. He graduated from Saint Vincent's High School and was a member of Holy Trinity Church. He is survived by nephew, Leo (Wanda) Pye Jr. and nieces, Sandra Mudge and Linda Pye, several great nieces and nephews and longtime friend, Mary Young. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Leo and John, three sisters, Dorothy, Margaret and Helen Pye. Faye D. Cameron Faye D. Cameron 60, of Moncton passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday June 29, 2007. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of Eleanor (Wilson) Cameron of Moncton and the late Allan Cameron (1971). Faye was a member of Humphrey Memorial United Church and was a graduate of Moncton High School (1965) and University of New Brunswick (1969). She enjoyed her time spent in British Columbia and Nova Scotia and enjoyed painting, gardening, fishing, snow shoeing, drives through the Albert County countryside and was an avid lover of dogs. CHEDD, Ross Stanley Peacefully and with great dignity at home on June 22, 2007 with Doreen, his loving wife of 58 years, at his side. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his children Cathy Brown (Keith), Debra Vickman and Jim Chedd (Brenda) and his grandchildren Melissa and Matthew Brown, Kathleen and Eric Vickman, Jessy and Kelly Chedd. He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Diane Nadelle (Jack). Ross was a member of the RCAF from 1947 to 1973. Upon leaving the RCAF, he joined the Federal Public Service until his retirement in 1992. Ross was an active and dedicated volunteer for 35 years in Little League Canada and the Canterbury Little League Association. For his dedication, he was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002. Ross kept active during his retirement years by playing 60+ baseball and badminton. Cremation. GLOVER, Kathleen "Kitty" Kitty was the loving wife of Michael, and wonderful mother to Alexandra (Ryan) and Christopher. Daughter of Beth and the late Bill Bishop, sister to Bill (Ellie), Tom (Pauline) and Karen (Bill). She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 24, 2007, at age 59, after a yearlong battle with brain cancer. Born in Victoria, Kitty was raised in Vancouver and studied at UBC. Moving to Ottawa in 1970, she began a long career at the Museum of Civilization, and raised her family in New Edinburgh where she lived for over 35 years. Famous for her hospitality, unique sense of style, warm humour, and fondness for her pet dogs - she will be missed by all. There will be a Memorial service held at MacKay United Church on Saturday, July 7th, at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made in Kitty's honour to the Sick Kids Foundation ( www.sickkidsfoundation.com 416-813-5320, 525 University Ave., 14th Floor, Toronto, ON M5G 2L3). PLUMMER, Joan Eileen (nee Bradley) Peacefully surrounded by her family at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at the age of 68. Beloved wife of Sheldon. ROMBOUTS, Cornelis (Case) Passed away Friday June 8th 2007, at the age of 81 years in Elliot Lake. Predeceased by his beloved wife Martina. Case leaves behind his special friend and companion Mary Vanderstar of Elliot Lake, as well as, his children Jack (Joan) of Smiths Falls, Peter (Cathie) of Elliot Lake, John (Diana) and Ken (Norma) both of Ottawa and Wilma Benoit (Pierre) of Casselman.
