DUPRAS, Thérèse Elle est décédée à Montréal, le 24 mai 2007, à la suite d'une longue maladie. Elle laisse dans le deuil son époux Marc Gilbert, ses fils Luc et Yvon (Sylvie Cyr), sa soeur Marie Claire (Jean Bourgeois), sa belle-soeur Ghislaine Gilbert ainsi que ses neveux, nièces et des amis. Elle venait d'une famille sportive. Ses frères ont joué au hockey avec Maurice Richard, sa soeur était non seulement une excellente joueuse de tennis mais aussi lanceur pour une équipe de balle molle. Tant qu'à Thérèse ce qui la caractérisait au tennis était sa détermination de gagner. Elle fut éduquée au couvent des soeurs de Sainte-Croix de Ville St-Laurent et a suivie des cours de dessin et de peinture. Elle fut journaliste pour les compétitions de tennis, de ski et les voyages. Elle était une personne simple et modeste dont la priorité était sa famille. Elle sera toujours présente dans notre mémoire. Le mercredi 30 mai à 19h une courte cérémonie à la chapelle suivie d'une réception au "Centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges”, 4525, Côte-des-Neiges, avec stationnment intérieur (une rue au sud de l'entrée du cimetière). As a Journalist, she covered competition tennis, ski and travel trips. She was an agreeable and modest person whose main priority was her family. She will always be present in our memory. COBHAM, GORDON DOUGLAS - The death of Gordon Douglas Cobham, husband of the late Molly Cobham, occurred on May 28, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Saint John in 1912, he was the son of the late Charles and Emma Cobham. He was predeceased by his wife, Molly Jean Cobham (nee Cooke), 1981; and his son, Gordon Ronald Cobham, 2004; his brothers, Ronald, Frederick and Bruce; and his sisters, Eva White, Helen Cobham and Gladys Rogers. He is survived by his three daughters, Sherie Angevine, Calgary, Wendy Miller (Dennis), Saint Albert, Bonnie Cameron (Bill), Halifax; his granddaughters, Jill, Lauri and Elizabeth; his grandsons, Derek, Greg, John and Brandon; his great granddaughters, Kennedy, Kate and Ela; his great grandsons, Will and Jasper; and his brothers, Burt and Wilfred. His early career was as a ship chandler in Saint John at a time before radar and modern ship to shore radio, when this was an exciting but very risky business. In his later years, he recalled many acts of heroism that took place in Saint John harbour during this period of his life. From his many stories it was clear that these years were clearly the highlight of his business life. After the completion of the DEW Line when shipping declined in Saint John, Gordon changed the focus of his business to industrial chemicals and founded T. Donovan and Son. This business continued to thrive under his leadership and later under the guidance of his son Gordie until 2002 when it was sold. Despite the strong devotion to his commercial activities, Gordon always had time to participate with his family as a caring, supportive and loving father. During their marriage, Gordon and Molly traveled extensively and he was always amazed by different ideas he would observe on these travels. One of Gordon's greatest pleasures was building and living in his home on the Kennebecasis River. The river provided him with a different scene 365 days of the year. He daily recorded the changing seasons of the river as if he were its official recorder. The sunsets over the river were magical to him. As recently as last November, three months before his 95th birthday, he raked leaves in his garden with his daughters Wendy and Bonnie and commented: "Isn't this a great time!" Gordon was devoted to animals and wildlife. He always had a pet and his cat Jumper surely misses him. With longevity Gordon experienced many inventions that we now take for granted. These include commercial airplanes, radar, television, and the telephone. He had an interest in global warming as early as the 1980's and was a proponent of alternative energy sources such as wind power and solar energy. Gordon was a man of great intellect, energy and determination. He exercised his intellect by reading extensively on such diverse topics as nutrition, yachting design, power alternatives, alternative healing methods, in particular, reflexology. His determination to complete a task, to reach a goal or for his argument to prevail was recognized by all who knew him. The loss of his son, Gordie, 2 years ago, was a major setback for Gordon. The event zapped his strength and spirit and he never fully recovered from this tragic event. Gordon remained fascinated and fascinating. Gordon's immediate family gives special thanks to his niece, Margaret Cobham Mollins who gave him her unwavering love and support for many years and also to his nephew Peter who kept Gordon's driveway plowed and was his emergency handyman for many years. The family also has much appreciation for the loving care Gordon received during his final days at the CAM unit of St. Joseph's hospital. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation Wednesday at 1 P.M. to be followed by a service at 2 P.M. in Brenan's Chapel. ELLIS, James Harvey December 31, 1936 - May 26, 2007 (retired Ontario Hydro) It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Harvey on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 8 p.m. in Arnprior District Memorial Hospital. Dearly beloved husband and best friend of Shirlianne (Fumerton). He was the loved and loving Daddy of Julie Anne and Lynn Alexandra Ellis who predeceased him in 1971 and 1985. He was the dear son of the late Harry and Edith (Ring) Ellis. Harvey was born in The Almonte Hospital. He is survived by his only sister, Edna Fournier and her husband George; his nieces Carrie (Jerome Lacomb), Nancy (Peter Ovington) and his nephew Jamie (Tara) Burns; great uncle to Jared and Lauren Lacomb and Eric Burns. Brother-in-law of Bill and Marian Fumerton, Harriet (late Warren) Campbell, Lorraine (Barrie) Hanson, Mary (late Wilmot) Craig, Alma (late Ken) McNab. Predeceased by Audrey and Ted Bayford and his chum and brother-in-lw Herb Fumerton. Predeceased by a niece Jennifer Hanson and a great nephew Jean Marc. He is also survived by Shirlianne's nieces and nephews whom he loved and treasured. Harvey was a former member of the militia, a member of Branch 174 Royal Canadian Legion, Arnprior and a member of Grace St. Andrew's United Church. STONER, Elizabeth Mary (Ballen) B.A. "42" B.P.H.E. "43", "T" Holder. University of Toronto Ballen died peacefully on May 23, 2007 at the age of 85 years. Beloved wife of Gerald Stoner for 56 years. Toronto born daughter of W. G. Allen and Rae (McGee). Mother of Patrick William (deceased) and Robyn Elizabeth, Gramma to Alita, Kaitlyn, Jamie and Nathan. Sister of W.H. Bill Allen (Polly) of Hillsburgh and aunt to Kathie, David, Michael, Bruce and great-aunt to 14 nieces and nephews. Proud member of the First B.P.H.E. Class in Canada (17), earned her senior "T" in Intercollegiate and Interfaculty Sports and went on to teach at High School of Commerce in Ottawa. She met Gerry (External Affairs) and had interesting Paris and Brussels postings. On returning, Ballen led an active life, tennis, skiing, bridge, volunteering in many charitable and philanthropic groups receiving recognition from both city and province. She will be missed by friends who shared her volunteering and sports. She was a great lady who sought to help fellow humans and her beloved pets. There will be no vitiation and private family burial. A Memorial service will be held at St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, 125 MacKay Street on Friday, June 1, 2007 at 3 pm. Donations may be made to the Humane Society. ZORZELLA, Peter, P. Eng. Suddenly on May 24, aged 51. Peter lived for his family, and they will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife Susanne, son Michael, and daughter Kathleen, as well as sister Victoria, brother Dan Calinescu, nieces and nephews. Peter moved to Manotick 16 years ago, to join in Ottawa's high-tech industry , primarily at Mitel. Peter volunteered his time for many community activities and organizations, most recently the Manotick and West Manotick Community Associations. Peter also was an instructor at the Ottawa Aikido Centre, where he taught Youth Classes. He will be sorely missed. Loving father of Richard (wife Gail Bradley) of Espanola, Leonard (wife Nives Kukoraitis) of Sudbury, Sandra Basztura (husband Terry) of Vancouver & the late Sharon (1952). Will be sadly missed by grandchildren, Zack, Jeremie, Zarrah, Jennifer, Mario & André & also great-grandchildren, Oriah, Leeah, Charlotte, Finnley and the late Mason (05). Very dear brother of Ida San Cartier (husband the late Lawrence, 2003), the late Frank (2001) (wife Gert Secord), Bernadette Levesque (husband the late Duff, 2004), the late Rene (1997)(wife the late Marge Clarke, 2002), the late Fred, (1984) (wife the late Rose Tracanelli, 2003), the late Cora Arthurs (1991) (husband the late Jack, 1995) Lillianne Fairburn (husband the late Flloyd (1999), Beth (husband Gordon Meredith), the late Ernest (1917) & the late Florence (1917). Leo served in the Canadian Army from 1939 to 1945, rising to the rank of Sergeant. He was President of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 39 from 1959-1960 & 1990-1994. Leo also was a Councilor for the Town of Espanola from 1962-1965 and was Mayor from 1966- 1982. He worked as a Commissioner for Ontario Northland & as Case Commissioner for the Department of Veteran Affairs, Ottawa. Leo retired from E. B. Eddy Forest Limited at the age of 62 years after 37 years of employment. Leo spent the majority of his retirement life with the love of his life (saint) Mary, at their camp on Hanna Lake. After Mary's death Leo moved to the Espanola Nursing Home where the staff immediately became his family. His humour, his drawer of chocolate bars and “hip slimmers“ became his trademark. The family feels that the care provided by the Espanola Nursing Home and it's Staff definitely contributed to the quality of life Leo enjoyed during his final years. Special thanks to Tracy, Owen, Tyler, and Charlotte for the many, many visits and to the Doctors, Meikleham and Salam for their patience and understanding. WOODS, Patrick Joseph – On Sunday May 27, 2007 at Cambridge in his 87th year. Predeceased by his first wife Edith of 53 years (1993). Survived by his wife Helen Woods. Loving father of Bill and his wife Dorothe of Niagara Falls, and David of Philidelphia. Fondly remembered by granddaughters Laura & Jennifer, grandson Jonathan and his wife Mellissa and great- grandson Cameron, all of Niagara Falls. Also survived by his sister-in-law Elsie Woods and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers George, Bob & Jack and sister May. He will be sadly missed by many friends. Born in 1920 in Ireland, Pat immigrated to Canada in 1922. He was raised in Hespeler, Ontario and served in the Canadian Armed Forces in WWII. Upon his return home he managed Woods Transport Hespeler Ltd. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, was a Shriner and proud of his 53 years of perfect attendance as a Rotarian.
