PETERSON, Shirley "Happy" (nee Merritt) Peacefully at home, on Saturday, May 26, 2007. Survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Ward Peterson. Also survived by her only son, Steven, grandson Eric, only sister, Vetha and her family, special cousin Iris Brown. Shirley will also be missed by Nelda, nieces and nephews and their families. A very special thanks to Dr. Coulombe for her excellent care and support at this difficult time. At Shirley's request there will be no service. Memorial donations to a charity of choice. Dearly loved wife of John Blair; predeceased by her first husband Paul Crawford. Cherished mother of Martin (Debbie) of Burlington and James Crawford of Perth, Joanne (Tim House) Crawford of Saskatoon and the late Frank Crawford. Special grandmother of Patrick, Bredon, Caroline, Jenna, Samuel and Molly; dear sister of Gwen (George) Kyle, Betty (Charles) Williams & Wayne (Cora) Smith. Also survived by a special cousin Sherry Anderson and her family, all of Brockville, and her mother-in-law, Freida Broadbent of Lanark. Predeceased by her parents William Coville and the former Shirley Chisamore, as well as her father-in-law, Ed Broadbent. BROWNS, Morris (C.G.A.- retired) Peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Friday, May 25, 2007 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Polisky). Loving father of Shmuel (Bonna Haberman), Baruch( Rabbi Elyse Goldstein) and Jonathan (Cindy Stelmackowich). Cherished grandfather of Tiferet, Uriel, Bezalel, Amatai, Adir Chai, Noam, Carmi and Micah. Dear brother of Toby Dolensky, Ruth Gundelfinger and the late Isadore. Throughout his career as an accountant and financial adviser, he worked at M. Loeb Limited, the Professional Institute of the Public Service (P.I.P.S.), as well as an accounting teacher at Rideau High School. Morris was an avid gardener, loved music, including playing his mandolin, harmonica and whistling. He was a volunteer as youth group leader with Hashomer Ha'tzair and the Cub Scouts. Morris lived in Israel from 1947 to 1953 and was a pioneer in building Kibbutz Ein Dor. Funeral Service will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue on Monday, May 28th at 12 noon. COCHRANE, Rachel Mary (nee O'Keefe) Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday 26th of May 2007 at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital, Ottawa. Prior to her death she was a resident of the West End Villa - Extendicare. Born and educated in Driftwood, Ontario (near Cochrane, Ontario) she moved to Toronto in her teens to further her education, where she met and married George, the love of her life for the past 58 years. As a loving and devoted mother to her family, she will be sadly missed by her children Mary (Doug Cormier) of Ottawa, Michael (Rita) of Toronto, and Mark (Cindy) of Ottawa. She will be greatly missed by granddaughters Sarah (Tim Ayr) of Connecticut, Laura of Ottawa, Emma Rachel Stanley of Toronto, and step-granddaughters Erica, Renee, and Hanna Lemieux of Toronto. Rachel will be greatly missed by her brothers Michael O'Keefe of Driftwood, Charlie (Joan O'Keefe) of Cochrane, Danny (Judy O'Keefe) of North Bay, and her sisters Helen Legare of Ottawa, Katherine O'Keefe of Kitchener, Marie Schmidt of Waterloo, Susan Morrison of Val Gagne, Ontario. She will also be missed by brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim (Arlene) of Toronto, Jack (Jean) of Tottenham, and Anna (Jim Figgins) of Toronto. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. INGRAHAM, Thomas Robert MSc., PhD. On Friday, May 25, 2007, Dr. T. R. Ingraham died at the Hospice at May Court. Tom was the son of the late Robert James Ingraham and Madge Ingraham of Sydney, NS. He is survived by his wife Eleanor Lucile Ingraham nee Rowley, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. During his career he was a professor, a research scientist, a research administrator and a very active participant at different levels in a number of scientific and engineering societies. Among these were the Chemical Institute of Canada, American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers and North American Thermal Analysis Society. Dr. Ingraham joined the Extraction Metallurgy Division at the federal department of Energy, Mines and Resources in 1953, and became Head of the Research Section. There the work involved direction at a variety of levels including that of post doctoral fellows, who came from many countries around the world. Later he was Director of the Technology Development Branch at the newly formed Department of the Environment. From 1978 until his retirement in 1984, he was Director of Programs at the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council. At Tom's request, there will not be a funeral service. SWARTZEN, Ruth Evelyn Davis Born in Mitchell, Ontario, on December 17, 1915, our much loved mother, Ruth, passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on May 26, 2007 after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband and best friend Lt. Col. Gordon William Swartzen (1992) and is survived by her daughters: Judy Swartzen, Lee Allen (Larry), and Gail Ivanoff (Phil). She will be greatly missed by her five grandchildren: Sandy, Mike (Mary Ann Oberthier), Jamie, and Dave Allen, and Peter Ivanoff. Married in 1940, Ruth followed her husband to England in World War II and served in the Canadian Red Cross Overseas Volunteer Corps. Since then, she has maintained an active life-long involvement in the Corps. Ruth was a respected and devoted teacher; upon her retirement, Ridgemont High School honoured her by establishing an award in her name, citing her dedication and integrity. A memorial service will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Red Cross or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Shirley Marie Estabrooks 1931-2007 SACKVILLE, N.B. - The death of Shirley Marie (Wheaton) Estabrooks, age 76, occurred on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, Sackville, N.B. Born in Saint John, N.B. on May 10, 1931, she was the only daughter of the late Edith G. Wheaton. Shirley worked at the head office of Atlantic Wholesalers in Sackville, leaving and enrolling in St. Charles Commercial School in 1958. Upon graduation, she went to work for Enamel and Heating Products Ltd. as a bookkeeping machine operator. Shirley was then employed with the United Church Home for Senior Citizens and the Drew Nursing Home as their first secretary and bookkeeper when the Nursing Home opened and then with FRS Supplies as their bookkeeper until her retirement in 1990. She loved her home and cats and enjoyed sharing her baking with everyone. Shirley was a resident of the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville, formerly of Clarence Street and was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church. Shirley will be sadly missed by her husband of 53 years, Arnold P. Estabrooks of Sackville, N.B.; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Audrey and Rufus Reid of Charlottetown, PEI; sister-in-law, Eva Estabrooks of Sackville, N.B; one niece, Kim (Ken) Godfrey of Charlottetown, PEI; three nephews, Michael (Ellen) Reid and Family of Desables, PEI, Ricky (Debbie) Reid and Family of Sackville, N.B. and Wayne Estabrooks of Sackville, N.B.; close cousin Mary (John) Stokes of Sackville, N.B.; and several first cousins. KNIGHT, AUDREY RUTH - The passing of Audrey Ruth Knight, wife of Kenneth I. Knight, of Lower Queensbury, NB, and formerly of Saint John, NB, occurred on May 25, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born on May 19, 1942 in Souris, Manitoba, she was a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Pearl C. M.(Othen) Redmond. Audrey enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, crafts, music, and camping. Afraid of nothing, Audrey helped during the construction of her new home, and contributed by insulating her home's walls and creating ornamental cedar shingles for its exterior. In an effort to promote awareness and understanding of Hepatitis C, after her husband Ken was victimized by the disease, Audrey designed a website and was active as a moderator in an online support group for others with the disease. She also designed Hopsy the Hep C Bunny and Hopsy's message of support was sent around the world to promote awareness of Hepatitis C. Audrey was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Jervis Bay Branch # 53, Saint John. Along with her husband, she is survived by one son, Kenneth J. Knight (Laura) of Lower Queensbury; two daughters, Helen R. Floyd (Michael) of Saint John, Heather A. Knight (Troy Jenkins) Halifax; two grandchildren, Mallory and Hunter Floyd; three sisters, Sheila Frances Reid of Plaster Rock, Lois Freda Ravn (Karl), of Midland, Kay Arlene Garnett (Paul) of Quispamsis, NB; several nieces and nephews. She was employed with NBTel before starting her family and worked with various local firms as a switchboard operator when she returned to work. In her younger years she was an active CWL member and was well known in the Provincial bowling circles. Her greatest delight was looking after her family especially her grandchildren. She had a generous spirit and was loved by those she touched. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Hough and her husband, Brian of Bracebridge, ON, Joan McCluskey and her husband, Charles of Grand Falls, NB, Ann Barrett and her husband, Dennis of Saint John; her eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. There are many nieces and nephews who will also mourn his passing. Carl will be very sadly missed by his constant companion and best "buddy" Midnight. Carl owned and operated his teaching school of T and T Hospitality for many years which gave him great joy and fun. His previous working years were with the CNR Railway, Lord Beaverbrook Hotel and the former Diplomat Motel from which he made many friendships that lasted throughout the years. Visitation will be held at the York Funeral Home on Brookside Drive on Tues, May 29, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. SHAW, EDISON WENDALL Edison W. Shaw of Upper Hainesville passed away unexpectedly at Scotch Settlement on May 26, 2007. Edison was born at Scotch Settlement on February 28,1944 and was a son of the late James and Vita (Parker) Shaw. He was employed as a sawyer at the Hainesville Sawmill. Edison was a member and Deacon of the Upper Hainesville Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Faith E. (Nason) Shaw; two sons, Bruce Shaw (Darlene) of Woodstock and Michael Shaw (Jackie) of Hainesville; a granddaughter, Taylor Shaw; two step-granddaughters, Tara Tapley and Jamie Hathaway; two sisters, Clara Billings (Manford) of Douglas and Joyce Harrison (Kenny) of Bear Island; four brothers, Carl of Temperance Vale, Ashley (Charlene) of Scotch Settlement, Douglas (Barbara) of Scotch Settlement and Dale (Kathy) of Hainesville; an aunt, Margaret Atherton of York Manor; a sister-in-law, Ester Shaw of Hainesville; a brother-in-law, Russell Yerxa of Scotch Settlement; several nieces and nephews.
