She is remembered by her sons James (Tammy) of Lakeshore, Geoffrey of Leamington, and Stephen (Cynthia) of Amherstburg. Grandmother to Melissa, Benjamin, Tyler (1998), and Hayden. Honorary grandma to her extended family Kenny, Amanda, Elizabeth, Terrie-Ann, Sean, and Danny. Sister of Ronald (Jeannette) Johnston of Tilbury. Predeceased by her parents Walter "Soupy" Johnston (1976) and Helen "Garbutt" Johnston (1968). Loved by nieces, nephews (great and great-great) and cousins. Dear friend of Victoria and Gordon Mouck. Eleanor attended S.S.#5 (Dover Township), graduated from Chatham Collegiate, and attended O'Neille Business College in Chatham. She worked for the Leamington District Secondary School Board, Local Ontario Lottery Agency, Welcome Wagon and Newsmarket. Eleanor was a dear friend to all. Predeceased by her husband Irvine Scrim, parents Martin and Jennie Burke, siblings Harold, Andrew, Jim and Dorothy Burke, Olive Sheen, Esther Holmes and Mae Flannigan. STUART, Victor C.H. (formerly, Group Captain, RCAF (ret.)) Died peacefully at Winston Park Retirement Home, Kitchener, Ontario on Thursday May 17, 2007 in his 89th year. Born an army brat in Folkestone, England, on September 10, 1918. He was a graduate of R.M.C. in Kingston and began his Air Force career that continued until retirement 30 years later. He settled in Portage, La Prairie, Manitoba for 9 years before moving to London, Ontario where he lived for 26 years. After the passing of his wife, Bobby, he moved to Kitchener to be closer to his family. Beloved husband of the late Audrey (Bobby) Stuart (March 18, 2005). Loving father of James Upton and his wife Marie of Waterloo. Will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Amy, Libby, Nicole and Deryk and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his niece, Jill von Teichman of Thornbury, Ontario. Predeceased by his son Ian K.L. Stuart (1972). A private graveside service will be held at Woodland Cemetery, London. BISGROVE, Ethel (nee Starr). Passed away peacefully at home with family and friends by her side. Predeceased by her husbands Lou West and Charles Bisgrove. She is survived by her brother Warren, sisters Mary and Diane, her daughter Debbie West (Paul), grandchildren Sarah (Ron), James (Robyn) and her great-grandson and light of her life, Caleb. She is also remembered by her Bisgrove stepchildren Bart (Marilyn), Donald (Kirsten), Jack (Joan), step-grandchildren Steven, Amy, Julie, Shawn, Brett, William and great-step grandchildren Mary, David, Sarah, Alexandria, Isabelle, Daniel, Charles, Savannah, Madison, Ethan and Emma. Ethel devoted her life to her church and to the Saint-Lambert Community, part co-founding the Eccumenical Community Services (ECS) and the Saint-Lambert Council for Seniors (Maison Desaulniers) where she continued to volunteer as Managing Director for the past 33 years. DUFFY, JOHN J. C.E.T. M.A.S.C.E. - It is with profound sadness that the family of John (Jack) Duffy of Chatham announce his passing on Thursday, May 17th, 2007. Born in Chatham, NB., March 5, 1973. He was the son of Brian J. Duffy and Caroline (Smith) Duffy. Jack is survived by his loving parents and sister, Karen. Jack suffered a massive heart attack while working for Philson's Construction of Fredericton at Camp Gagetown Military Base. He worked in Boston Ma, for many years on the Big Dig Project. He attended Saint Michael's Basilica in Chatham and St Andrew's Roman Catholic Church in Loggieville, where he has a summer Home. He was an avid Hockey and Baseball player in his youth. He was a former life guard at the Chatham outdoor swimming pool. He loved to sail his boat on the mighty Miramichi. Jack made thirty nine (39) donations of whole blood to the Canadian Blood Services. He had a great love for his community, church and special needs children and adults. He held official membership in various engineering organizations both in Canada and the United States. He was a member in good standing with the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technologists, with the distinction of professional engineering technologist and technicians. He was a member of the American Society of certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists, American Water Works Association, American Civil Engineer's Association, Transportation Association of Canada, Canadian Society of Civil Engineers, Canadian Society of Certified Professional-Engineering (Civil) Technicians and Technologists. John (Jack) Duffy is resting at Maher's Funeral Home, Miramichi, on Saturday, May 19th from 7 to 9 and on Sunday, May 20th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. NAIRN, HERBERT JOHN - Herbert John Nairn passed away suddenly at home on Saturday May 12th, 2007 following a lengthy struggle with heart disease. He was born in Saint-John, NB. and is preceded by his parents John and Alberta. Herb is survived by his wife Anne of 56 years, his four sons; Michael (Michelle), Prince George, BC; Brian (Laurie), Metchosin, BC; Donald (Debbie), Campbell River, BC; and Mark (Cheryl), Calgary, AB. He also leaves a Sister, Jean Moris in Saint-John, NB, twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews across Canada. Herb joined the Canadian Army Medical Corps in 1952 and served in Korea, Germany, and various bases in Canada settling in Victoria in 1970. He was one of the first Army Medics to serve on HMCS CHAUDIÈRE and HMCS SASKATCHEWAN. He worked at HMCS Naden Hospital both as a military and civilian employee. A Remembrance service and a Celebration of Life will be held for the family and friends at the Chief's & PO's Mess, located at 1575 Lyall St., Victoria, BC. on Friday, May 18th, 2007 starting at 13:00 hrs. The family declines flowers but remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of your choice. A private family interment will be held at a latter day. MATTHEWS, GORDON JOSEPH - Suddenly, on Thursday, May 17th, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital Gordon Joseph Matthews found peace at last. Gordon was born in Belledune, NB. on February 13th, 1935 to the late James and Eva (Guitar) Matthews. He is survived by his best friend, partner and love of his life Marion Vasiliou. He died in her arms after being diagnosed with cancer in March. Gordon is also survived by daughter Lisa Matthews (Sabean) and son in law Derek Sabean; his 2-year-old granddaughter "Alex" who was the apple of his eye. She will miss her "Papa" dearly. Gordon will never be forgotten by son's Stephen Matthews and John Vasiliou; two brothers Edward (Kathy) Garnett and Andrew Garnett; nephew Michael Garnett, daughter Rhonda and granddaughter Jessica from Kingston, Ontario are also left behind to mourn. Gordon spent most of his life in New Brunswick and was retired at the time of his death. He will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity to people in need. Mr. Enoch (Zeke) Jonah Passed away on Friday, May 18th, 2007 at the Veterans Health Center in Moncton and formally of Riverview at the age of 86. Husband of the late Alberta G. (Richards) Jonah. Enoch was born in Hillsborough on March 21st, 1921, son of the late Oscar and Dola (Milton) Jonah. A veteran of the Second World War having served overseas with the Canadian Army with the Lord Strathcona's Horse Regiment from 1941 to 1945. Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 32 in Hillsborough for the past 56 years. He retired after 32 years of service with the Department of Transportation. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Barbara Palmatier of Thorold, Ont.; his son, Brian and his wife, Candy of Moncton; his sister, Pauline Briggs of Stilesville; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, his wife Alberta, Enoch was predeceased by his sisters, Ruby Wilson, Cora Gould and Margaret Steeves. BUCKMASTER, G. Claire (Nee Vallillee) Peacefully, Tuesday May 15, 2007. Claire Buckmaster age 88. Beloved wife of the late Roy. Daughter of the late Rupert and Lucia Vallillee. Dear sister of Steve Vallillee, sisters-in-law Cathy and Betty Vallillee and brother-in-law Ed Sibbald, predeceased by sister Marie and brothers Albert, Gerald, Arthur, Bernard, John and Harrison in infancy. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Claire, worked for many years in the Federal Government's Employment Insurance Branch in Buckingham and Ottawa, retiring in 1972. Thereafter, she and Roy spent many happy years dividing their time between Big Rideau Lake and Bonita Springs, Florida. She spent her last seven years at West End Villa where the second floor health care and activities staff took great care of her for which the family is most grateful. Special thanks are due to the caring sitters Krystyna, Barbara and Jeanne.
