ARTHUR, Lionel Ralph (Art). Peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Saturday, April 28, 2007 in his eighty-sixth year. Beloved husband of Grace, dear father of Glenn and his wife Susan, Evelyn and her husband John Howard, Sharon and her husband Charlie Lawless, Ross and his wife Maria. Also survived by grandchildren Bruce, Karen, Tina, Joanne, Jennifer and Jade. Art was a veteran of WWII serving in the R.C.N.V.R. and member of Robert Campbell Memorial Church and Greenbriar Presbyterian Church. OBITUARY RONALD GENE "PETER" FLETCHER BSc, DDS 1933 - 2007 Very suddenly at home on April 27, Peter passed away. Loving husband of Rachel Naylor for 47 years, devoted father to David and Nanda, Tim and Rochelle, Nancy and David, and grandpa to Lianne, Ashley, and Emily, William and Josephine, Jacob and Sinead. Peter has been a proud Montreal Wester for 43 years, and loved being part of this community. He had three passions: his family, Rachel with her gardens, David, Tim and Nancy, focusing on school, hockey, and gymnastics, and later on, their education, careers, and families. Secondly, actually it came first, his education at Sir George Williams University and at McGill University - his achievements in the Science Faculty at Sir George Williams leading to success in the Faculty of Dentistry at McGill. He established a family practice in central Montreal, and practiced happily for 40 years, retiring in 2002. Thirdly, for relaxation and a change of scene there was the cottage nestled in the mountains at Dunkin, Eastern Townships. A very important part of his later life were our two dogs, Heidi and Mischief; they gave him a great deal of pleasure. To round out his hobbies there was a succession of old but beautiful cars that always required work, and that he enjoyed immensely. In addition, his association with the Finnish community was very important to him. Finnish was his first language, and he was a mentor first, and then the dentist to many of the Finnish Montreal residents. He was an avid reader, and loved to discuss many topics, especially politics and history. We will miss him. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 5 at 3 p.m. at St. Philip's Church, corner of Brock Ave. N. and Sherbrooke St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation, or to the Monteregie SPCA, one of Peter's favorite causes. BRAMM, George Vernon (P.Eng) January 31, 1925 to April 28, 2007 - Passed away peacefully on April 28th at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Orillia. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Margaret (nee McCauley), his brother James, children: Rick (Susan) and Gerry (Patty) and his five grandchildren: Colin (Leanne), Andrew, Alex, Becky and Patrick. George was born January 31st, 1925 to George and Ruth Bramm (nee Lindblad). He grew up on Strath Avenue in the west end of Toronto and attended Lambton Kingsway Public School and Etobicoke Collegiate. In 1944, at the age of eighteen, he joined the RCAF and received training as a flight engineer in Alberta. The war came to an end before George saw action. He was honourable released in April, 1945 with the rank of sergeant. In 1947 he married his high school sweetheart Margaret McCauley and began a family in Etobicoke, Toronto. George returned to school and earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Toronto. His early career included jobs with Acme Screw and Gear and Toronto Iron Works. In 1968 the family moved to Orillia where George worked for Dorr-Oliver Long for 17 years and Leitz in Midland for seven years. George was an active member of the Shriners in Orillia. He had many hobbies throughout his life including: stamp collecting, photography, astronomy, horticulture and his beloved dogs: Kelly, Marco, Lutz and Meg. A service to celebrate George's life will be held at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St.,N., Orillia on Thursday afternoon, May 3rd at 1 o'clock. TODOROVICH, Louis Lubomir - 1942- 2007 - The family announces with great sorrow his death at the Timmins and District Hospital on Sunday, April 29th, 2007 at the age of 65 years. Loving husband of Susan Todorovich (Nee Raymond). Dearest father of Connie Harper (husband Rick) and Natasha Laurin (husband Martin) all of Timmins. Step-father of Jerry Mullaly of Timmins, Tom Mullaly of Onaping, Shawn Fauvelle (Mellissa) of Markham, Cathy Fauvelle (Ken Chamberlain) and Gary Fauvelle all of Timmins. Grandfather of Matthew Harper, Samantha Harper, Sophia Laurin, Gabriel Laurin, Jessica Chamberlain and Charllotte Fauvelle. Brother of Rolly Todorovich (Bonnie) of British Columbia. Survived by many brothers and sisters in- law as well as nieces and nephews. Special uncle to Robert Todorovich of Brampton. Son in-law of Evelyn Raymond of Timmins. Louis will be sadly missed by his four legged boys Ringo and Toby. He had a passion for his family mainly his children and of course his special grandchildren who he would take at the drop of a dime. They were his reason for living and to them he was their loving “Papa“. Louis adored music and loved to play the accordion since he was a little boy. As a grown man he would entertain residents of the Georgian Residence with his music. Louis was a member of the German club and a dancer with the Edelweis dancers. He loved to work on auto body restoration, preferably vintage or classics. His antique automobiles were his “treasures“. This was his hobby, his first love and his profession being a self employed auto body repair man with his company “Supreme Auto Body Antiques“. Louis will be remembered to many as the unofficial “Mayor of Airport Road“. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the CHAPEL of the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Pastor Andy Tulloch will be officiating. Maggie (Sarah) Mallett (née Budd) December 01, 1936 - April 28, 2007 Peacefully and suddenly at the Health Sciences Centre, Sarah left us to go back home with her Creator. Sarah leaves to mourn her husband of 45 years, Melvin; her children, Margie (Bruce) (British Columbia), David (Kathy) (Winnipeg), Melvin (British Columbia), Norman (Winnipeg), Burt (Betty) (British Columbia) Solomon (Laura) (Fisher River) and Ethel; grandchildren, Norman, David, Michael, Veronica, Audrey, April, Mikizi and Frank; sisters, Dora, Lavina (George) and her brother, Norman (Josephine). Sarah was predeceased by her parents, Susan (Sewap) and Baptiste Budd; step-mother, Katie (Pelly); sister, Sandra; mother and father in-law, Ethel and Solomon Mallett. Mom was born at Budd’s Point near Cumberland House, Saskatchewan. She married Dad in August 1962 at Steven’s Memorial United Church. The Wake service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. The Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Services will be held at the Steven’s Memorial United Church in Fisher River, Manitoba with Rev. DEGAGNE, Leo Joseph - In loving memory of Leo Joseph Degagne, 73 years, who passed away Monday, April 30th, 2007 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph Health Center. Born in Astorville, he married Velma in Capreol, in 1955. He worked at the CNR and National Steel before moving to Minnesota in 1979 where he worked as a maintenance mechanic, returning to the Sudbury area in 1988 with MacIsaac Mining, retiring in 1992. Leo was a man of great faith, a devoted member of Our Lady of Peace Church where he served on the Maintenance Committee and as an alter server. He was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Council #3866. Leo was always active in the community as a member of the Seniors Club, Seniors Bowling, Cross Country Ski Club (he helped groom the trails) and he was a co-organizer of the very successful Moose Mountain Reunion in 1998. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards. Leo had a special talent for woodworking and his skill will live on in the many projects he completed. Beloved husband of Velma (Sawyer) Degagne of Capreol. Loving father of Marilyn (husband Terry Stewart) and Leslie (husband Frank Marincola) both of Aurora, Brenda of Toronto and Dave (wife Barb) of Angus. Loving Poppa of Karl, Stephanie, Matthew, Michelle, Micayla, Nathan and Noel. Dear son of Joseph and Valeda Degagne both predeceased. McLAREN (nee Danis/Downey) Frances Eleanor It is with deep sadness we announce that our cherished mother Fran passed away peacefully in hospital at the age of 76 on Sunday, April 29th, 2007, with family at her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her loving husband and best friend of 50 years, William Robert McLaren. Dearly loved mother of Jean (Laverne), James, Margaret (Mark), Robert, William, Peter (Susan), Patricia (David) and Cleve. Daughter of the late Patrick and Madeline Downey; she is survived by her sisters Gladys and Marilda and her brother Patrick and predeceased by her brothers Paul and Earl. Frances also leaves behind her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Frances was born in Sudbury on August 22, 1930 where she spent her childhood and early adult years, until meeting and marrying Bill, her husband and best friend of 50 years. They soon moved to Renfrew and spent many years farming, raising a family, helping neighbours and contributing to the community. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, always giving of herself and totally devoted to family and friends, she will be remembered always for her kindness and caring manner, sense of humour, and young at heart fun-loving nature. Mom, you will be in our hearts forever. A special thanks to Dr. Robert Duggan, the nursing staff and the palliative care team of the Renfrew Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion. Our warmest heartfelt thanks to Joy Lanyon and Margaret Duggan. At Fran's request there will be no visitation. Memorial Service will take place with family and friends on Thursday, May 3rd at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of the McPhail & Perkins Funeral Home, Renfrew. Jessica Dawn Marie Cormier 1984 - 2007 ST. CATHERINE, ON - Jessica Dawn Marie Cormier, age 23 of St. Catherine, ON and formerly of Bouctouche, passed away on Thursday April 26th, 2007 from injuries sustained that morning from a car pedestrian accident in St. Catherine. Born in Moncton on January 11th, 1984, she was the daughter of Donald Cormier and Rose-Marie LeBlanc. Jessica is survived by her parents, Donald (Lori-Ann) Cormier of Shediac, and Rose-Marie Cormier (Edouard Robichaud) of Niagara Falls, ON; her fiancé, Przemek Bednarczyk of St. Catherine, ON; one brother; Jonathan Cormier (Julie Baldwin) of Niagara Falls; one half brother, Danny Cormier of Edmonton, Alberta; two half sisters, Brenda Cormier of Gardner, Mass, Angèla Cormier of Bouctouche; one niece, Hayley Rose; four nephews, Kevin, Ricky, Randy, Brendon; several cousins, uncles and aunts. Jessica is also survived by three special friends; Cindy, Renée, and Marie-Claude. Jessica was in public relations for the company Maid of the Mist, of Niagara Falls. Visitation will be held at the Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de l'église, Bouctouche, on Tuesday May 1st, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, and on Wednesday from 9 to 10:45 am. McCARTY (HUARD), PIERRETTE - Pierrette McCarty (Huard) of Montreal, previously of Saint John, passed away on April 24, 2007 at the age of 63. She is survived by her sons Denis (Anna) and Edward (Debbie), her six grandchildren, her brothers Jean-Claude (Jacqueline), Yvon (Diane), and Denis (Claudette), her good friend Zahir, and the father of her sons, Edward Sr. She was predeceased by her parents Ernest Huard and Annette Bouchard, and one brother, Gerard . Cremation has taken place. A funeral service was held at the Chapel of La Maison Darche in St. Hubert on Thursday, April 26, 2007. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
