LOW, Leo (1919 - 2007) Leo Low died peacefully in the Alzheimer Unit of the Wakefield Hospital on April 19, 2007. He was in his 88th year. As a European trained professional who worked his way up from bell hop to General Manager, he gained employment in some of Canada's largest hotels and resorts. These include CPR Hotels in Regina; Banff and Lake Louise Resorts in Alberta; Holiday Inn, Ritz Carleton and Windsor hotels in Montreal, as well as the big Quebec resorts, Grey Rocks and Mont Tremblant. At Blue Mountain, he was head hunted by its founder, Jozo Weider, in 1969 to modernize Blue Mountain's accounting and managerial communication systems. Mont Ste. Marie lured him back to Quebec to open Mont Ste. Marie's new hotel and Conference Centre. He retired from active involvement with the tourism industry in 1983, but could not resist returning to teach hotel and resort management at Canadore and Georgian College, where his characteristic humour and depth of knowledge honed over a 45 year career in the industry made him a popular teacher of young people entering the field. He leaves behind his lovely wife of 55 years, Jeannette, who dutifully followed him during his career and tended to his needs in the last days of his life. She is grateful to Dr. Satenstein and the Staff of the Wakefield Hospital who helped to make his last days peaceful. He will be fondly remembered by all those friends who appreciated his special qualities, his unique personality and his many talents. Published in the Ottawa Citizen on 4/28/2007

McBRIDE, Vincent Michael Peacefully, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital early morning on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 after a short illness. Beloved husband of Mary, Vincent was an avid golfer and curler. His love of sports was exhibited throughout his life as a player, a coach and a fan. He was a devoted husband and father. He was witty and charming and had many artistic talents which included painting and calligraphy. He was frequently commissioned by the House of Commons for his beautiful calligraphy work. Vincent was the loving husband of Mary, father of Patrick, Martin, Bernie (deceased), Kathleen, Ann and Rosemary. Grandfather of Aethne, Finnegan and Callum. Brother of Nora Gardener (of Tennessee) and Molly (deceased). He will be greatly missed. As per the wishes of the deceased, a small funeral was held for family only at the Kelly Funeral Home. MONTGOMERY, Gerald Lloyd - January 10, 1938 - April 04, 2007 - On Apr. 04, 2007 we lost our dear father Gerry Former longtime resident of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario he resided in Chatham for the last several years. He spent most of his life helping people in sickness at the hospital in Sault Ste. Marie. Son of Margaret and Isaac Montgomery and brother to Mike (deceased) and wife Dorothy Montgomery, deceased sister Evelyn and Fred Gains, deceased sister Shirley Kelly and surviving husband Gord Kelly, surviving sister Eleanor and Junior Flood, deceased sister Elma Miron, and deceased brother William and deceased sister Louise Thompson and surviving husband Doug all of which are from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Sadly missed by daughters Leslie Toyne of Chatham and Lorrie and Alex Gold of Blenheim and grandchildren Tawnya Gold, Jessica, Matthew & Kyle Howes and great grandson Rielly Gold. Special thanks to our father's cousin Mildred Pringle who helped us in writing this obituary, and Elene Hoy for helping us contact family. RIDGLEY, ELSIE VICTORIA It is with deep sadness that the family of Elsie Victoria Ridgley announces the passing of a beloved mother and grandmother on April 26, 2007. Born May 24, 1923 in Dartmouth NS Elsie was the eldest daughter of the late Milton Boutilier and the late Edna (nee Henley). Elsie is survived by her children, George (Donna) of New River Beech, Carolyn of Moncton, Thomas (Rose) of Rothesay and Noreen (Ondon) of Douglas; grandchildren and great-grandchildren are George Jr. (Alex and Jacob), Kimberley, Jonathan and Kelly of New River Beech; Mandi (Isabella and Ava) of Halifax, Jacob of Merville, BC; Dawn (Tyler and Kyle) of Noonan and many nieces and nephews. Elsie had a strong belief in her church and her family would like to give a special thanks to and The Reverend Chris VanBuskirk of St. George's Anglican Church for religions guidance, his generosity of time he showed while she lived in Moncton. Elsie is predeceased by her husband, George Clayton Ridgley, January 2004 and son,David Edwin Ridgley September 1974. DUCHESNEAU, MARY - passed away on Thursday, April 26th, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Mary was born in Saint John NB on April 13th, 1928 to the late William and Annie (Nelson) Strachan. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Duchesneau of Victoria, BC; three sons, Ronald (Debbie) of Whiteville NC, Paul (Lorraine) of Quispamsis and Michael (Amanda Hodgin) of Hampton; brother, Robert of Truro, NS; sister, Ann (David) Robertson of Rothesay; four grandchildren, Andra, Melissa, Rene and Kyle; one great grandchild, Cadence; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Fernand; and brother, David. Mary was past president of the Bayview Legion Branch #22 Ladies Auxiliary where she received a Certificate of Merit before transferring to Jarvis Bay Legion Branch #53 where she was a Ladies Auxiliary life member and served in various executive positions. J. HARVEY GALBRAITH 1919-2007 GALBRAITH, J. HARVEY - The death of Harvey Galbraith, 88, of Moncton, husband of Catherine "Kay" (Reid), occurred peacefully on Wednesday morning April 18, 2007 at the Veteran's Health Centre, Moncton. Born in Saint John N.B., he was the son of the late Charles and Cora Galbraith. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Glenn (Dorothy), grandchildren Christopher (Jo-Ann), and Craig (Laura), three great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law Karen. He was predeceased by son Gordon and sisters Fern (Wallace Culley) and Natalie (Eric Sleath). He will be fondly remembered by sisters-in-law Shirley MacLeod of Moncton and Barbara Reid of Ottawa as well as his many nephews and nieces with whom he shared many happy times and special vacations. A graduate of the Saint John Vocational School, he joined the R.C.A.F in 1937. Upon his release in 1948, he worked for Eaton's and then Canada Post, retiring as a Post Office supervisor. He was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54, serving as President and District Commander during that time. He was an honorary elder of St. John's United Church. Kay and Harvey enjoyed many winters in Largo, Florida and summers in Grand Digue, N.B. during their retirement. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in July, 2006. Special thanks to the staff of the Veterans Health Centre and also Ron and Fern MacLeod for their kindness and support. SOULIERE, Leona - Went to be with her Lord, peacefully at the St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre on Friday, April 27th, 2007 in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Clayton Souliere for over 63 years. Dear mother of Sandra (Ron) Oldroyd of Paris, Garry (Gladys) Souliere of Brantford, David (Joyce) Souliere of St. George, the late Susan (Bob) McFadden, Stephen (Patti) Souliere of Brantford, Michael Souliere of St. Thomas, and Christine (Martin) LaPointe of Brantford. Much loved grandmother of 15 grandchildren and several great- grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters Laura Turcotte and Dorothy (Gord) Jackson, and her brother Garnet (Trudy) Biederman. Predeceased by her parents August and Wilhelmine Biederman, and her sister Shirley Biederman. She will be sadly missed by many other family members and friends. Leona was a retired long time employee of Screenprint, and was very active at Faith Lutheran Church where she served in many different capacities. Friends will be received at the HILL & ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 30 Nelson St. on Tuesday from 2- 4 and 7-9 p.m., and on Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church from 12 - 1p.m. A Funeral Service will follow at Faith Lutheran Church on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Interment Farringdon Burial Ground. REDDY, Michael "Mike" (Veteran WWII - RCN) Suddenly but peacefully at home on Thursday afternoon, April 26th, 2007. Michael Joseph Reddy of Arnprior at the age of 78 years. Beloved son of the late James Reddy and the late Martha Storey; both formerly of Calabogie. Dear brother-in-law of Iris Reddy (late James). Mike was predeceased by his 3 brothers: James, Pat and Charlie as well as his 5 sisters: Molly, Cecilia, Monica, Peggy and Betty. Mike is survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. FUGLER, Linda (nee Wozniak) - With her family at her side, after a hard fought battle with cancer, at the St. Catharines General Hospital, on Friday, April 27th, 2007, age 47 years. Loving wife of Glenn Fugler of Niagara Falls. Beloved daughter of Mary (Balanowski) and the late Joe Wozniak (January 5th, 1998) of Thorold. Dear sister of Marie and Rick Garbacz of St Catharines. Linda worked at General Motors Engine Plant since 1983. Linda was well known for her artistic ability in crafts. McWAIN, Frederick John - Peacefully at Bluewater Health - Norman Site on April 27, 2007, Frederick John McWain, age 86 of Sarnia. Fred will be sadly missed by his wife Julia McWain nee Segers. Caring father to Dianna Dumond (Bruce), Donna Jones Carol Munroe (Monty) and Patricia Bergheim. Fred will also be missed by his two step sons Nick and Sam Segers. Loving grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of 27. Predeceased by his parents Ethel and Bert McWain and Ida McWain nee Simpson. Brother George McWain, sisters Mary McWain and Marjorie Weaver. Grandfather Nathanial and grandmother Alice Simpson nee Lamdon. And predeceased also by son- in-laws Paul Jones and Stan Bergheim. Fred was a pipefitter with the local union #663 from 1951-1985. He worked throughout chemical valley, Douglas Point and Southwestern Ontario. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Fred's life will take place on Wednesday May 2, 2007 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on 608 Errol Rd West at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery. MEADES, Iris Louise (nee Page). Passed away peacefully in her sleep at the West Island Manor on Sunday, April 22, 2007. She goes to join her loving husband Ronald, who passed away in England prior to her joining the family in Canada. She will be missed by her son Richard and wife Maria, as well as the grandchildren: Anthony and wife Andrea, Terry, Andri and Trina, her niece Frances and husband Roger in England. In her life time, she acted as a surrogate parent and grandparent to many young people throughout England and Europe, she will be fondly remembered in particular by: Judy with Oliver and Hilary, Roger and Sandra with Nicola and Philip, Walter and Helga, the Maidment clan, Conrad, Peter, Angela, Michelle and many more.
