OBITUARY R. ERIC JACOBSEN February 16, 1919 - February 1, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Eric, surrounded by family, at the Montreal General Hospital in his eighty-seventh year. Beloved husband of Joan Emily (nee Warrington) for 56 years and devoted father of John Eric (Barbara Eplett), Sally Ann (Ken Coburn) and Peter Thomas (Tracey Drumm), loving grandfather to Eric, Andrew, Ian and Joan. Born in Vienna, Austria, he served in the Austrian Army during the "Auschluss". His regiment suffered heavy losses forcing an escape to England where he enrolled in Engineering at the University of London. At the outbreak of war, he joined the Royal corps of Engineers and was assigned to bring into production for the allied war effort, captured and highly sophisticated German tool making equipment. Following the war, he immigrated to Canada with his last British Army Paycheque in his pocket and joined his older brother in developing their company specializing in the production of pre-stressed building components utilizing newly developed, water proof plywood. This technology in prefabricating building structures led to a US/Canada Government contract to construct five (5) High Arctic Weather Stations, forming the foundation for the Tower Group of Companies. Since 1946, the Tower Group has been instrumental in the development and construction of Canada's north. Today it is a fully integrated operation, led by his two sons and loyal staff. It continues to serve Canada's Arctic as an innovative leader in cold weather construction, hospitality and real estate development. Eric's passions were painting and horses. He captured his love of the Arctic in countless northern landscapes, many of which he gifted off his wall to dear friends and family. Eric's love of horses spanned his lifetime, riding enthusiastically through 85 years. He was an integral member of the Lake of Two Mountains Hunt and was instrumental in the development of the St. Lazare/Hudson area to the equestrian world. He shared his joy of horses with handicapped children, spending countless hours leading their adventures. Self assured and passionate... he was a true gentleman of integrity to the end and will be dearly missed. Donations may be made to the Montreal General Hospital Foundation. FOX, Wilbur "Uncle Bob" After a brief illness, Bob passed away at the Brantford General Hospital, on Saturday February 3rd, 2007, in his 85th year. Beloved son of the late Thomas and Lillian Fox. Brother of the late Leslie T. Fox. She is survived by two daughters, Cléola Léger of Saint-Grégoire, and Andréa Léger (Gerard) of Cocagne; three grandchildren, Michel and Chantal Goguen and Estelle Boucdreau; and also three great grandchildren, Janick, Miguel, Erika; and several nephews and nieces. Other than her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Aldoria (1975), Raoul (1981); one grandson, Réo (1995); and two brothers, Narcisse, Hervé. Doreen was born in Elgin NB. in 1927. She was the daughter of the late Eric and Hazel Milton of Hillside, Albert Co.; N.B. Green on Friday, February 2nd, 2007, surrounded by her loving family, at the Rocmaura Nursing Home in Saint John, N.B. GOULD, CHARLES DOMINIQUE Charlie passed away peacefully Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 at the Queens North Health Complex in Minto. Born in Moncton, April 7th, 1922, he spent most of his life in that area, relocating to Minto approximately 15 years ago. Charlie is survived by his wife, Grace; a son, Bernie Gould (Geradline); grandchildren, Scott, Andrew, Ryan; and sister, Jean Goodwin all of Montreal; sisters, Lorena Pataki of Alberta and Theresa Gould of Amherst. Several nieces, nephews; and a sister-in-law, Mary Gould also mourn his loss. HUGGARD, ANTHONY TURNER 1922 - 2007 The death of Anthony Turner Huggard of New Maryland, NB, loving husband of Patricia Huggard occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Thursday, February 1st, 2007. Turner was born and educated in Dublin, Southern Ireland. While in Africa, he lost his first wife Jane to polio. After returning to Northern Ireland in 1956, he met and married Patricia Turnpenney whose husband Derek was killed in action in World War II. Turner was a teacher. MACFARLANE, Jean (nee Tyre). Peacefully in Knowlton, on February 2 in her ninety-fifth year; being predeceased by her beloved husband Robert and her second husband John Reilley. Her warmth and humour will be sadly missed by her sons Alan (Terri), Andrew (Georgina) and Bruce, her grandchildren Tracey (Chuck), Kate, Colin, Kirstie and Cameron; and by her great-grandchildren Matthew and Kaelie and by our extended families and her friends. There will be a memorial service on February 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Knowlton. This will be followed by a reception at the Lakeview Inn. Our greatest thanks go to the staff at Knowlton House for their care and commitment to our mother. Gionet, Obeline "Obe" 1934-2007 The family announces with great sorrow her death at the Timmins and District Hospital on Monday February 5, 2007 at the age of 72. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Roger Gionet of 55 years. She is the loving mother of Roger Daniel Gionet of Mississauga, Brian Frederick Gionet, Andrew Allan Gionet both of Timmins and by Steven Peter Gionet (Angela Thompson) of Calgary. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Kelly Napean, Michael Ohlschlager, Obeline Ohlschlager, Charlene Forster, Jimmy Malo, Danny Forster, Spencer Thompson, Collin Gionet, Cheryl-Anne Boucher, Lincoln and by her 6 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters Emma, Caroline (Jimmy) and Ruthy. She is pre-deceased by her daughter Diane Ohlschlager and by her parents Isabell and Fred Cherry. She leaves behind her great friends Laura and Elmer Campbell and Beatrice "Bea" St.Pierre. Obe was a long-time cashier at Mike's Supermarket and has also worked many years at Country Style Donuts. The family wishes to thank Brenda Lessard and the nursing staff at Paeds Medical 2 at the Timmins and District Hospital for the excellent care they provided. Cremation has taken place. Levesque, Gaston 1948-2007 The family announces with great sorrow his death at the Timmins and District Hospital on February 5, 2007 at the age of 58. He leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Colette Levesque (née Mayotte). He will be fondly remembered by his children Dan Levesque (Tammy) of Sudbury, Sylvie Briand (Jim) of Timmins, Julie Levesque (Rob) of Timmins and Paul Levesque (Marnie) of Timmins. He will also be missed by his loyal dog Kemo. He is the cherished grandfather of Corey, Melissa, Devan, Renée and Calvin. Gilles Dallaire, of Sudbury Who passed away peacefully, Monday, February 5th 2007 at the SRH - St. Joseph’s Health Centre.
