MADALVEE, Adele (nee Veske) - In loving memory of Adele (nee Veske) Madalvee. Born May 19, 1920 in Kuressaare, Estonia. She passed away in the early hours of Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital St. Joseph Health Centre. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her beloved husband of 56 years, Helmut, and her dear son Roy of Sudbury. She is also sadly missed by her niece, Hilja and relatives in Estonia. Adele immigrated to Canada in June 1943, residing in Halifax, moving to Montreal where she married Helmut on February 3rd, 1951 and they settled in Sudbury that September. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, gardening, cooking and watching figure skating. The family wish to thanks the doctors, nurses and all the staff who cared for Adele at the Sudbury Regional Hospital and Finlandia Hoivakoti Nursing Home. FORTIN, Jeanne - In Loving memory of Jeanne (Labine) Fortin of Massey who passed away peacefully at the Espanola General Hospital on Friday, February 2nd, 2007 in her 84th year. Beloved wife of Leo of 60 years (predeceased in 1993). Wonderful mother to daughter Monique (husband Denis) Shank of Massey and infant children Lucille and Rachelle (both predeceased). Cherished “Memere“ to Danielle and Paige. She was born in Worthington on October 26th, 1923 - daughter of Jean-Louise and Delima (Mousseau) Labine (predeceased). Survived by her sister Theresa (Mrs. Ernie Schroeder) of Sault Ste. Marie. Also loving sister to Marie Slanne, Annabelle Bisson, Rita Roy, Loretta Tuome, Leo, John, George and Edouard all predeceased. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and Godchildren. She was a devout Catholic who always had a prayer in her heart and her rosary and St. Therese by her side. Her family always came first. She loved to play cards, watch her grand- daughters figure skate and enjoyed her country music. She was a member of “Les Dames de Sainte-Anne“ and an “Avon Lady“ for many years. She was very proud of her French heritage and never went anywhere without her lipstick. She will be deeply missed by her family and never forgotten. Elle était la fille de Joseph Bouthillier et de Lauria Ostiguy, tous deux décédés. Née au Lac des Iles, elle entra en religion le 15 janvier 1939 et fit profession le 4 janvier 1940. Outre sa famille religieuse, elle laisse dans le deuil 1 frère, Ariste (Rachel Plouffe); des neveux et nièces; des cousins et cousines. Elle fut prédécédée par 3 soeurs: Germaine (feu Ernest Pilote), Orise (feu Gaston Bouchard) et Yvette (feu Alphonse Detonnacour); 3 frères: Henri, Léopold et Jean-Pierre (Georgette Jetté). MAYRAND FRÈRE ALBERT, F.I.C. - PRÊTRE Frère Léon-François Au pavillon Sainte-Marie du CHRTR de Trois-Rivières, le 2 février 2007, est décédé à l'âge de 89 ans et 3 mois, dont 73 années de vie religieuse, Frère Albert Mayrand, de la communauté des Frères de l'Instruction chrétienne, fils de feu Damien Mayrand et de feu Alice Bédard. Il est né à Grondines, le 24 octobre 1917. Il entra au noviciat de Pointe-du-Lac en 1933 et fit profession perpétuelle en 1939. Après une douzaine d'années comme enseignant, il consacra six ans à des études universitaires en théologie et en sciences religieuses; il dirigea l'École Sacré-Coeur de Grand-Mère et plusieurs maisons de formation religieuse de sa communauté. À deux reprises de six ans, il fut supérieur provincial de la province religieuse Saint-François-Xavier de Pointe-du-Lac. À l'âge de 68 ans, il fut appelé par le Frère Supérieur général et Mgr Laurent Noël, évêque au ministère sacerdotal pour les besoins de la communauté. Au CHSLD de Sainte-Hénédine, le 2 février 2007 est décédé l’abbé Eugène Dussault, dans la sérénité dont il a fait état durant toute sa vie. Il était âgé de 102 ans et 10 mois. Il était le fils de Georges-Edmond Dussault et Marie Bonneville, frère de feus Albert, Louis-Arthur, Philippe, Laura, Léda, Antoinette. Il a été ordonné prêtre le 25 mai 1930 dans l’église de Sainte-Marguerite, son village natal. Les membres de sa famille recevront les condoléances en l’église de Sainte-Hénédine mardi à compter de 9h. Le service religieux sera célébré le mardi 6 février 2007 à 11h. De 1930 à 1945, il a enseigné au Petit Séminaire de Québec et a été vicaire dominical à la paroisse St-Jean-Baptiste. En 1945, il est nommé curé à Saint-Simon-les-Mines jusqu’en 1955, l’année où il s’installe comme curé à Sainte-Hénédine, fonction qu’il gardera jusqu’en 1976, année de sa retraite. Il a été aumônier au Foyer de Sainte-Hénédine (CHSLD). Il laisse dans le deuil ses neveux et nièces, parents et paroissiens de Sainte-Hénédine. L’abbé Dussault était un homme de son temps, il a toujours évolué au gré des années. Il est toujours resté un homme d’une grande simplicité, doux, compréhensif, compatissant, généreux et avec qui on se sentait compris, accepté et aimé tel qu’on était. OBITUARY R. ERIC JACOBSEN February 16, 1919 - February 1, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Eric, surrounded by family, at the Montreal General Hospital in his eighty-seventh year. Beloved husband of Joan Emily (nee Warrington) for 56 years and devoted father of John Eric (Barbara Eplett), Sally Ann (Ken Coburn) and Peter Thomas (Tracey Drumm), loving grandfather to Eric, Andrew, Ian and Joan. Born in Vienna, Austria, he served in the Austrian Army during the "Auschluss". His regiment suffered heavy losses forcing an escape to England where he enrolled in Engineering at the University of London. At the outbreak of war, he joined the Royal corps of Engineers and was assigned to bring into production for the allied war effort, captured and highly sophisticated German tool making equipment. Following the war, he immigrated to Canada with his last British Army Paycheque in his pocket and joined his older brother in developing their company specializing in the production of pre-stressed building components utilizing newly developed, water proof plywood. This technology in prefabricating building structures led to a US/Canada Government contract to construct five (5) High Arctic Weather Stations, forming the foundation for the Tower Group of Companies. Since 1946, the Tower Group has been instrumental in the development and construction of Canada's north. Today it is a fully integrated operation, led by his two sons and loyal staff. It continues to serve Canada's Arctic as an innovative leader in cold weather construction, hospitality and real estate development. Eric's passions were painting and horses. He captured his love of the Arctic in countless northern landscapes, many of which he gifted off his wall to dear friends and family. Eric's love of horses spanned his lifetime, riding enthusiastically through 85 years. He was an integral member of the Lake of Two Mountains Hunt and was instrumental in the development of the St. Lazare/Hudson area to the equestrian world. He shared his joy of horses with handicapped children, spending countless hours leading their adventures. Self assured and passionate... he was a true gentleman of integrity to the end and will be dearly missed. Donations may be made to the Montreal General Hospital Foundation. FOX, Wilbur "Uncle Bob" After a brief illness, Bob passed away at the Brantford General Hospital, on Saturday February 3rd, 2007, in his 85th year. Beloved son of the late Thomas and Lillian Fox. Brother of the late Leslie T. Fox. Remembered by his niece Susan Ratchford (Jim) and the late Barbara MacDonald, as well as his great-nephews Glen, Greg (Becky), Grant (Anita) Halsey, David MacDonald and Zac Greenwood. Great great-uncle of 6 nieces and 3 nephews. Bob worked for Dominion Stores for over 25 years. He will also be sadly missed by many other extended family members and friends. HAAKMAN, Elizabeth In the early morning of February 3rd, 2007, just shy of her 80th year, our wonderful and adored mother died suddenly at her home with her devoted husband of 54 years by her side. JOURDAIN, Rita Marion Died peacefully in her sleep on February 2nd, 2007 in Ottawa. Rita was born in Charlottetown, P.E.I on March 14, 1916 to Senator & Mrs. James Peter McIntyre. Rita was active in Ottawa circles especially amongst the volunteers at the Riverside Hospital and at the Fourth Avenue Baptist Church. In 1971, Rita married widower Cecil Jourdain (now deceased) and inherited four adult children; Brian, Sharon, Barry and Sheila. Rita was a family pillar, a loving mother and a source of inspirational leadership to them for the past three and one-half decades. Rita's greatest joys were her step-children, her times at the Granite Club and her annual trips to P.E.I. Rita has now gone to heaven to join her parents, husband Cecil, sisters Margaret, Winnifred, Eileen and Audrey, brothers Russel and Elmer, grandson Jonathon, son-in-law Chuck Burant and her many friends. Surviving Rita are her four stepchildren: Brian Jourdain and his wife Pat of Calgary, Sharon Grand and her husband Bill of Ottawa, Barry Jourdain and his wife Mary of Moncton and Sheila Burant of Las Vegas, NV: her grandchildren Matthew, Meagan, James Katie, Candice and Christopher; her great-grandchildren: Danielle, Nathan, Josie, Mia-Mae, Lucas, Alexandra, Zachary and Austin; sister Freda Nolan and her husband Eddy of Boston, MA and brother-in-law Brighton MacDougald of Charlottetown and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernadette Léger 1926 - 2007 SHEDIAC, NB - Bernadette Léger, 80, of Residence O Bon Soins, Shediac and formally of Saint-Grégoire, passed away after a lengthy illness surrounded by her family at the Dr Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton on Saturday, February 3rd, 2007. She was the widow of the Late Hervé Léger (2004). Born in Notre-Dame, on May 9th, 1926, she was the daughter of the Late Philippe and Rosanna (Née LeBlanc) Cormier. She attended Saint-Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church Bouctouche, and was a homemaker. She is survived by two daughters, Cléola Léger of Saint-Grégoire, and Andréa Léger (Gerard) of Cocagne; three grandchildren, Michel and Chantal Goguen and Estelle Boucdreau; and also three great grandchildren, Janick, Miguel, Erika; and several nephews and nieces. Other than her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Aldoria (1975), Raoul (1981); one grandson, Réo (1995); and two brothers, Narcisse, Hervé. Warren was employed as a ambulance Driver for the Saint John General Hospital and in late years for the City of Saint John in the Works Dept. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved animals especially Cats. She had been a pharmacist's assistant at Centracare until her retirement a number of years ago. CRAMMOND, DOREEN ROSE - The death of Mrs. Doreen Crammond of 12 Derrick Court, Saint John NB wife of Jack Crammond occurred on Saturday February 3rd, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Doreen was born in Elgin NB. in 1927. She was the daughter of the late Eric and Hazel Milton of Hillside, Albert Co.; N.B. Doreen is survived by her husband, Jack; son, Rick of Sooke, B.C.; daughters, Marlene (Don) Avramenko of Calgary and Shelley (Bill) Newton of St. Albert, Alb.; five grandsons Ryan, Jacob, Mark, Scott Newton and Derek Avramenko; one sister, Anna (Everett) Steeves of Hillside, Albert Co.; one brother, Angus (Elda) of Douglas, N.B.; a sister-in-law, Edwina Crammond of Vancouver. Besides her parents, Doreen was predeceased by a brother, Herbert. Doreen graduated as an R.N. from Chipman Memorial Hospital in St. Stephen. She worked at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. She also did private duty nursing at the General Hospital in Saint John. Doreen retired to live with her husband at Canal N.B. in 1977 and returned to live in Saint John in 2003.
