SHARPE, VERA PEARL The passing of Vera Pearl (Brewer) Sharpe occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on August 25, 2006. She was 97. Born in Fredericton on May 26, 1909, the daughter of Holland and Carrie (Allen) Brewer. Vera was a member of the Burtt's Corner Baptist Church and spent her life working in the church, on the farm and raising her nine children. Vera is survived by six sons, Merle (Florence) of Fredericton, Harold (Sylvia) of Keswick Ridge, Raymond (Madeline) of Zealand, Elwood (Annis) of Scotch Settlement, Cecil of Burtt's Corner and Allan (Sheila) of Moncton; three daughters, Mildred of Springfield, Mabel (Arnold) of Middle Hainesville, and Marion (Conrad) of Upper Queensbury; 26 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren; a nephew, Winslow Brewer of Fredericton. Vera was predeceased by her husband, Arthur and five grandchildren. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from the Burtt's Corner Baptist Church on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 2 pm with Pastor David Wellwood officiating, assisted by Mrs. Sharpe's grandson, Pastor of Worship Gary Sharpe. Interment will follow in the Scotch Settlement Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Scotch Settlement Cemetery Fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to a charity of the donor's choice. Born in Lake Edward on December 22, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John and Evangeline (Hitchcock) McGillan. She is survived by son, Gary DeWitt of Three Brooks. She was predeceased by her husband, Talmadge DeWitt and her son, Larry DeWitt. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 11am at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, Father Curtis Sappier officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Dumont Hospital, Moncton on Thursday, August 24, 2006. Born in Shediac on August 14, 1905, she was the daughter of the late Jean-Baptiste Gallant and the late Joséphine (Gauvin) Gallant. Survived by one daughter, Diane Mersereau (Pat); one son, Normand (late Irma); three grandchildren, Marc, Renée, Claudine; one great grandson, Nikko; special nieces and nephews, Laureanne Caron (late Placide), Ange-Marie DesRoches (late Alcide), Jacqueline Babineau, Omer Babineau (Jeannette). V. Florence Lamb Florence Lamb, 83, of Moncton, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Thursday, August 24, 2006 following a brief illness. She was born in Saint John, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Lamb and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a graduate of Saint John High School and her musical talent led to her serving as a church organist in the Anglican Church as a teenager. She was employed as a bookkeeper in Saint John and subsequently in Toronto, where she later took youth leadership courses at the University of Toronto and became a youth worker with the Anglican Church in Toronto and some years later in the Church's Department of Programming in Religious Education in Montreal. In 1967 she accepted the position of Executive Director of the Moncton YMCA, a position she held until retirement in 1988. Florence was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, a former member and Director of the Thomas Williams House, the Moncton Museum and a Life Member of the Anglican Church of Canada. Retirement enabled her to assume a more active role in St. James Anglican Church where she served as organist and treasurer until her final illness. Her interests included bridge, crafts, reading and the preparation of jams and jellies which she donated to worthy causes. A gracious and caring lady, Florence will be remembered as an influence for good by the many people whose lives she touched. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or viewing. A memorial service will be held at St. James Anglican Church on Tuesday August 29, 2006, 2pm. Rev. Wendy Amos-Binks officiating. Interment, Fernhill Cemetery, Saint John. SMOOTHY, Olive Frances (Windrim) - Olive passed peacefully into her heavenly home on August 25, 2006 at Peterborough Manor. Born June 5, 1912, she has now rejoined her husband Tom. She is survived by her daughters, Elaine Palmer (Brian) of Whitby and Dianne Pammett (Bob) of Bridgenorth. Cherished and proud grandmother of Aimie Rout (Tim) of Kapuskasing, Rebecca Palmer of Kingston, Tom Palmer of Whitby, Jennifer Pammett of Toronto and Robert Pammett of Saskatoon, SK. Also survived by her sister Muriel Morden of Lindsay. Predeceased by her brother Percy Windrim, and sisters Ruby Windrim, Verna Patillo and Mayme Windrim. Olive was a Christian believer who was active in the work at Murray St. Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She will be remembered for her hospitality, her gardens at their home on River Road South, sewing, quilting, upholstery, furniture refinishing and building grandfather clocks with her husband Tom. Visitation will be held at the COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street from 7-9 pm Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, August 30th at 3:00 pm. The Reverend Tim Rout and Reverend Evelyn Moore will officiate. Interment Highland Park Cemetery. DROUIN Roger - 68 years old, father, husband, and grandfather passed away at St. Paul's Hospital on August 23, 2006, following a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife Claire and his three daughters, Nicole (Tom), Matthew; Guylaine (Dan), Robyn, Samantha-Lynn, Michael; Julie (Stephen), Skyler, Sydney and his two stepchildren O'Neil (Donna) and Yvette (Dave). He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, sisters, family and numerous friends. Roger was predeceased by his first wife Therese and son Denis. Roger was born in Quebec in 1937. He spent his whole life working in the mines in Ontario. Roger and Claire enjoyed their winters in Arizona and taking part in many different actvities. Roger was a devoted Catholic and had a deep and abiding faith. He was also a member of the Knight of Colombus and he was always ready to help his parish. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Martyrs-Canadiens Church, 1007 Windsor St. A very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Stankiw and all nurses and staff on Palliative Care at St. Paul's Hospital.
