La famille recevra les sympathies 1/2 heure avant les funérailles qui auront lieu, en présence des cendres, le mercredi 23 août 2006 à 14 h à l’église de St-Fulgence Elle a été incinérée au crématorium de la Coopérative Funéraire de Chicoutimi et les cendres seront inhumées au cimetière de St-Fulgence. La défunte laisse dans le deuil ses belles-soeurs: Mme Judith Gauthier, Mme Judith Bouchard et Mme Dolorès Pellerin; sa nièce Mme Solange Tremblay (M. Yvon Tremblay). THOMAS, ROLAND GRANT The death of Roland "Rollie" Grant Thomas of Grand Bay – Westfield, NB, husband of Constance Lorraine (McCormick) occurred on Monday, August 21, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born, July 20, 1932 in Devon, NB, a son of the late Frederick and Eva (Grant) Thomas. Rollie worked with his father for many years at Thomas Transfer before going to work at Maritime Paper. His greatest passion in life was his family and friends. Roland enjoyed fishing and hunting and he was an avid sportsman who spent many years coaching minor hockey. Survived by his wife, Connie; two sons, James and Gerald (Diane) and a daughter, Beth ( Bill) Parker, all of Saint John, NB; four sisters: Jean Bursey of Saint John, Marjorie (Rod) Mizener of Dundas, ON, Patricia (Ralph) Hawkes of Hartland, NB and Wendy Chisholm of Dartmouth, NS; one brother, Richard (Shirley) Thomas, one brother-in-law, Ralph McLenaghan, two sisters-in-law, Barbara Cook and Shirley Brothers, all of Saint John; he was a proud and loving grandfather to his six grandchildren: Kimberly, Robbie, Michael, Jamie, Melissa and Jennifer, all of Saint John; an aunt, Amelia Grant of Fredericton, NB; an uncle, Willie Thomas of Cardigan, NB; many nieces and nephews. Bliss I. MacLean 1942-2006 MIRAMICHI, NB - Mr. Bliss Ian MacLean, partner of Doris Wyld, of Wellington Street, Miramichi, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 21, 2006, in Miramichi, at the age of 64. Born in Center Napan, on April 22, 1942, he was the son of the late Mitchell and Eliza (Blakely) MacLean. He was a woodsworker and an adherent of St. Marys Anglican Church, Miramichi. He is survived by his partner, Doris (Quann) Wyld; one step daughter, Ashley Wyld, of Miramichi; one step son, Wayne Wyld, of Kitchener, Ont.; three sisters, Ruby Morris, of Miramichi, Agnes Constant, of Hamilton, Ont., Edna Boutillier, of Fredericton; one brother, Lorne MacLean, of Toronto, Ont.; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Colin MacLean; one infant brother, George. Visiting will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King Street, Miramichi, on Wednesday only, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mae Effie Beaumont 1917 - 2006 DIEPPE, NB - Mae E. Beaumont, 88, of Residence du Marais, Dieppe passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Lewisville, NB on December 31, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Charles and Arzlie (Melanson) Cormier. She was married for 57 years. She was a dedicated loving mother of 12, a member of The Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, and a member of the Lower Coverdale WMS. CRANSTON, Margaret "Jean" (nee Macwhirter). Died peacefully on August 16, 2006 at the age of ninety-three, after a long life, well-lived. Jean was born in Norwich, Ontario to Norman and Mamie Macwhirter. She graduated from the University of Toronto in 1945, worked for the United Nations in Washington and New York, then for the National Film Board in Ottawa and Montreal. She married Philip Cranston in 1967, and they lived in the Town of Mt. Royal, Quebec. He died in 1980. She remained there until last September when she moved to Aurora, Ontario to be closer to her sister. She is survived by stepdaughter Nancy Bengough (Robert) and family: Peter (Ruth), John (Tracy) and Suzanne, and great-grandchildren Megan, Cameron, Claire and Katie. She is also survived by her sister Mary Stauffer, niece Judy Stauffer (John Hull) and family: Kathleen Hull-Beagle (Kent), Emily and Adam Hull. Her nephew Tom Stauffer predeceased her in 2003. Memorial donations to the Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket would be appreciated in recognition of the compassionate attention she received. LONG, Jack Ray - Beloved husband and lifetime partner of Charlotte Marie (Holcomb) for 58 years; dearly loved father of John (Darlene) of Timmins, Michael (Adriana) of Brantford, David (Nancy) of London, Barbara of Ottawa; loving Grandpa/ papa to Jessica, Jennifer and Joanna Long, Courtney and Aaron Long, Joshua (Erika) and Danielle O'Connor; predeceased by parents Russell and Grace Long and survived by sisters Betty Steward and Janet Hart. Born in Windsor, Jack dedicated his professional life to education. He spent 17 years at Stamford Collegiate where he was a successful teacher and coach - winning 2 national championships in Track and Field. He joined the Ministry of Education in 1963 as an inspector and program consultant. He enjoyed his relationships with Phys. Ed staff across Ontario. Stamford honoured him in 2001 as the first inductee into the school's Wall of Fame - and the school gymnasium was named for him. He has remained in close contact with the school and his former students. In 2004, he was inducted into the Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame. BLACKBURN, Elsie “Mae“ - On Friday August 18th, 2006 at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Cobden. “Miss Mae“ began her journey in her new life with a sense of expectancy and wonder. Born in Burks Falls, Ontario, she was the last surviving child of twelve of Frederick and Rose Ellen Wheeler (Hillier). Predeceased in 1975 by her husband Joseph (of Stroud's Gift Shop). The highlight of her life was her nursing career graduating in 1931 as Provincial Gold Medalist for the province of Ontario. A long-standing member of Victoria Ave. Baptist Church, she was a person with a deep faith who truly enjoyed her own company. She was a astute business woman. Good and loving mother of the Rev. MUNDAY, Gary passed away suddenly after a long and courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 22, 2006, in his 61st year. Gary was the loving husband of Catherine and the devoted father of Beth and Jim, Lee-Ann and Jason and Ian and Jamie and was predeceased by his daughter, Christine (1969). He was the doting grandfather of Alicia, Curtis, William and Zachary, Braidyn, Mikayla and Cameryn, and Jenna, Elyssa and Jack. Gary will be sadly missed by his brothers, John and Grant and his wife Karen and his cousin Diana Johnston as well as his many nieces, nephews and cousins. ZETTEL, Kenneth George - On Monday August 21, 2006 at the St. Catharines General Hospital in his 82nd year. Loving husband of his “best gal Sal“ Sally (nee White). Caring father of Susan Fraser (Jim) of Wasaga Beach, Michael (Wendy) of Mississauga, Doug (Mary) of Toronto, Mary Ellen Zettel (Scott) of Brampton, and Stephen of St. Catharines. Poppa of Andrew, Erin, Natalie, Megan, Cara, Katie, Michael, Jordan, Matthew, Shelby, Martin and Anna. Predeceased by his sister Jean and brothers Don, Paul and George. Ken was born in Kitchener in 1925 to Edward and Olive. Ken spent many years with B.F. Goodrich, eventually rising to National Sales Manager. He later became owner of Niagara Rubber Supply of St. Catharines, creating thriving business it is today. He was well respected by both customers and employees. Ken's sense of humour was enjoyed by both his golf and curling buddies...Proud to have broken 90 once! Ken loved jazz and big band music, as well as radio comedy and C.B.C. Radio. He was a loyal member of Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church in Port Dalhousie. Special thanks to Dr. Dennis Whitty who never gave up on Ken. Thanks also to Pat and her fellow nurses for all their good care. At Ken's request, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St. A celebration of Ken's life will be held on Saturday August 26, 2006 at Star of the Sea Chruch at 11am. DOWDING, John - born 28th of September 1939, son of Kenneth Paul and Ellen Mary Perren. John was a beloved Husband to Jennifer Mary and a wonderful father to Mark, Sarah and Robert Dowding. Grandfather to James, Emily, Jenny, Laura , Jillian, Elliot, Zachary and baby Isaac. John Dowding emigrated from England to Canada with his family in 1973 where he pursued a career in the food processing industry. Starting in Brockville, and working for Cow and Gate, he then moved to Woodstock and Cambridge working for Borden's, and Hostess Frito Lay. He retired from Hostess/Frito-Lay on September 28, 2004. John had been living with Cancer for the past four years, and passed away on August 20th at 4.55pm. John will be remembered by family and friends for his generous spirit and loving nature. There will be a memorial service held at Heartlake Baptist Church in Brampton located at 10245 Kennedy Road north at 2 pm on Friday August the 25th. Although flowers would be greatly appreciated, Dad's wishes were that a gift be given to World Vision in place of the flowers. CUMMING, Catherine Lynn - At Parkwood Hospital, on August 21st, 2006, Catherine Lynn Cumming passed away to the Pureland after a six year struggle with Multiple Sclerosis, in her 48th year. Lynn is survived by her parents Hazel and Don Cumming, stepmother Kathy Cumming, sister Glenda, brother Bill, much loved nephew Kyle Thomas Cumming, and special friend Peter Straub. Lynn was born February 28, 1959 in Vancouver, BC. She was raised and educated in Ontario. Lynn was a graduate of Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School where she excelled in gymnastics and music, being a member of the Jr. and Sr. Choirs and Fred's Folk. Lynn continued her education at Fleming College in Peterborough studying Business Administration with a specialty in Human Resources. After graduation Lynn was employed at Matthews Conveyor in Port Hope. While living in Peterborough, Lynn was active with the St. James Players and other choral groups. Lynn joined Holiday Inn in Peterborough and subsequently moved to Toronto where she was Director of Human Resources at Best Western Airport Hotel and Days Inn Airport. A memorial service will be held at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Saturday, August 26th, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. CARON, Jean-Hughes - Passed away at the St. Joseph's General Hospital in Elliot Lake on Wednesday August 9, 2006 at the age of 63. Beloved husband of Thérèse Caron of Elliot Lake.
