EVA MILLIEA 1930-2006 ELSIPOGTOG, NB - Eva Milliea wife of the late Raymond Milliea (1977) of Elsipogtog, NB passed away at home on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at the age of 75 years. Eva was the daughter of the late Frank Dedam and the late Mary (Augustine) Dedam. Eva is survived by four daughters, Mary Jane Milliea, Florence Milliea, Rena Milliea, Ann Milliea; one adopted son, Abraham Peter Paul; two sisters, Jane Alice Simon, Susie Clements; three brothers, Michael Dedam, Stephen Dedam and Noel Dedam; and 13 grandchildren. Besides her husband, Eva was predeceased by two brothers, John Joe Dedam and Alfred Dedam. Remains are resting at her home, 359 Main Street, Elsipogtog. BURDICK, Carl Joseph Burdick. Age forty-eight, of Trumbull, a mortgage banker, died suddenly on Saturday, August 19, 2006 in Montreal. Born in Montreal on March 28, 1958, he was a son of Dora Dardano Burdick of Montreal and the late Peter Burdick. He was raised in Montreal and had been a resident of Stratford, Connecticut for 10 years before moving to Trumbull, Connecticut last year. He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast and coached hockey. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of sixteen years, Maureen Murphy Burdick, three children, Peter, Edward and Mary Grace Burdick, two brothers, James and Paul Burdick and a sister, Linda Carfagnini, all of Montreal. He was predeceased by an infant son, Christopher Stephen Murphy Burdick. A Memorial Mass celebrating his life will take place on Monday, October 2, 2006 at 11 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 899 Chomedey Blvd., Laval. SANDBERG, Helen (nee Robillard) - In loving memory of Helen Sandberg who was born May 29th, 1932 and left her loving family August 22nd 2006. SLAGHT, Larry Vincent Charles - Larry died suddenly at North Bay General Hospital on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 in his 68th year. He was the beloved husband for 47 years of Bettina “Tina” (Coruzzi) of Commanda Lake, the loving father of Julie (Giuliano Marson), Lawrence (Tammy), Michael (Michelle) of Hamilton and Sandi Slaght all of Hamilton. He was the much loved grandfather of Anthony, Daniella, Brodi, Shaylyn, Alyssa, Austin, Aaron, Mackenzie and Madison. Larry is survived by his sister Marge Mooney (Bob) of Hamilton and was predeceased by brother Judson “Bud” Slaght and sister Lillian Armstrong. He was the dear son-in-law of Julia Fay and the late Anthony Coruzzi, and brother-in-law of Harry Coruzzi (Marion) and Anthony Coruzzi (Shirley). Larry will be fondly remembered by his several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his many dart playing friends and fellow Legion members. Ed was born in Iroquois Falls, Ontario, served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII (1939-1945) and worked at Abitibi Paper Co. in Beaupre, Chandler, and Thunder Bay. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Francoise Godbout; parents Joseph and Elsie; sister Kathleen and brother Fred. Edward is survived by sister Ethel; children Lawrence (Betsy), Lynn (Glenn O'Connell), Brian (Diane), Michael (Pierrette) and Glen; 7 grand-children and 1 great-grandchild. KELSVEN, Borgny (nee Ohme) - In her 96th year, passed away on Sunday, August 20th, 2006 at St. Catharines General Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Roy Kelsven (1968) and her daughter Adrienne Yvonne Verde (1970). She is survived by her two sons, Robert Kelsven and his wife Shirley, Morris Kelsven and his wife Pat, and her son-in-law Ernie Verde, in whose care she was at the time of her death. She was a loving grandmother to her 15 grandchildren, Sylvia, Linda, Tony, Christine, David, Debra, Sandra, Donald, Theresa , Richard, Loretta, Catherine, Cindy, Steven and Julie; 25 great- grandchildren, Karyn, Heather, Trisha, Steven, Gregory, Patrick, Julie, Ashley, Brian, TJ, Louis, Kristy, Skylar, Sarah, Nicole, Zachery, Katherine, Matthew, Justin, Mariah, Rachel, Maddison, Carly Rose, Jeremy and Dylan, and 8 great-great- grandchildren, Aiden, Macy, Zoe, Matthew, Perpetua, Nathaniel, Sapphire and Louis. Family was important to Borgny. Photos of her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were prominently displayed in her home, keeping her dear ones close in mind. Until recently, her Christmas card exchange was quite extensive, maintaining connection with family and friends. Borgny was an important link in our Norwegian heritage. Her knowledge of family history and traditions was passed on, filtering down through four generations-making lefse is a family favourite. More than that, she passed on a tradition of hospitality as a gracious hostess, accommodating guests comfortably and providing beautifully presented and tasty meals. Her love of flowers manifested itself in gardens that displayed an artistic flair for colour and a defined sense of order. Borgny was very accomplished, having received her nursing diploma in 1930 and was respected among her colleagues for her dedication to the profession, keeping up-to-date discoveries and innovations in the medical field even after retiring. Along with her professional endeavours, Borgny's hobbies and interests included crocheting, sewing, embroidery, cake decorating, flower arranging-there wasn't much she couldn't do. Borgny's faith was a comfort to her throughout her life. She was the last surviving founding member of the Dilworth Lutheran Church in Dilworth, Minnesota. She was active in supporting all the projects of the church and constant in her love of and study of the Bible. Her funeral will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, August 25th at Resurrection Lutheran Church in St. Catharines, where she has been an active and supportive member for the past 36 years. She will be resting at HAMMOND FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL in Thorold and visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7- 9p.m on Thursday, August 24th. Visitation will also take place at Resurrection Lutheran Church from 11a.m until the funeral at 1p.m Friday, August 25th. Interment will take place at Sunset Gardens Cemetery, Fargo, North Dakota following a memorial service at Dilworth Lutheran Church in Dilworth, Minnesota. She will be greatly missed. 10311041
