SCHIEMAN, Lucille Mary (Sparks) After a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease, Lucille passed away peacefully with her daughter Linda by her side on August 21, 2006 at the age of 84. Predeceased by her parents Albert Vezina and Lauretta Marier. Beloved wife of the late Edgar Schieman. Also predeceased by her son Gerald who she can now join in Heaven. Loving mother of Fred (Diane), Norma (Claude), Noreen (Arthur), Linda (Doug) and Roger (Doris). Cherished by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also survived by her half-sister Rhona deOliveira (Romero) and predeceased by her sister Therese Scharf. Many thanks to staff at Maxville Manor for their care and support during the past six years. OBITUARY ANN KAZIMIRSKI (Hanka Ressels) 1922 - 2006 After a courageous struggle, surrounded by her loving family, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2006. Ann was an exceptional woman whose energy and enthusiasm for life touched all who knew her. Born in Poland on January 7, 1922, Ann married Dr. Henry Kazimirski just before World War II. After surviving the Holocaust, they both moved to Ste. Agathe, Quebec in 1949, where they raised three children, Mark, Seymour and Heidi (Berger). During those years, Ann became a prominent figure in the small Jewish Ste. Agathe community, instilling Jewish values, holidays and traditions into her children, as well as her neighbors. When Henry died in 1976, Ann moved to Montreal to start a new phase in her life. When she was fifty-five, she went back to school and in 1990, got her teaching degree from Concordia University, with a special degree in TESL, and taught English and French to students from Israel, Russia and Poland. She also taught children at the Talmud Torah schools for 20 years. Her next step into education came when she wrote a book about her experience in the Holocaust, called "Witness to Horror", chronicling a time during which she lost 63 members of her family, including her mother, father and brother. Traveling around the province, as well as to places such as Hawaii, she dedicated her life to lecture in French and English about the Holocaust. In 1997, she returned to Poland with hundreds of students on the March of the Living, visiting Israel as well. Ann's love of people and music inspired her in 1991 to create a senior citizens choir at the Cummings Jewish Centre. Through this choir, Ann touched hundreds of people, not only the 65 members of her choir who range in age from 75 to 95, but also the people in the dozens of organizations where the choir performed - in hospitals, senior residences and outdoor parks. But Ann's love of music did not only benefit seniors, she also taught piano to 17 private students weekly. Up until the last few weeks of her life, Ann, with amazing strength and clarity, continued to teach piano and lead the choir, and will be forever loved and remembered by her students and choir members as a grandmother and energetic teacher. For Ann, her greatest achievement was her determination to turn the horrors she experienced as a youngster into something positive. She believed speaking and learning about the Holocaust, was a necessary tool in society's awareness and education. Aside from her children and grandchildren, Ann's greatest legacy is the lessons she brought to students all over the world about tolerance and the necessity to respect others regardless of race, colour and religion. Ann lived her life in dignity and will be remembered for her strength, her perseverance and her love for life. She is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Jean Laliberté 1956 - 2006 A près vingt-neuf ans de souffrances, à la suite d’un accident de moto, Jean nous a quittés subitement, le 28 juillet, à l’âge de 50 ans. Il était curieux et amoureux de la nature et de la musique; la mort l’a foudroyé avant qu’il ne réalise ses nombreux projets. Nous l’aimions tant. DWYER, Roy S.J. - Lieutenant Colonel - Commanding Officer, Lincoln & Welland Regiment; October 2, 1950 - August 19, 2006. It is with deep sorrow that the family of Roy announces his peaceful passing. Roy left this battlefield surrounded by his loving family. Devoted and cherished husband to Sharon, and proud father to Christopher. Best friend and loving brother to Debbie (John), and Wayne (Michelle); special uncle to Miranda. Roy also leaves many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews to mourn his passing. Lieutenant Colonel Dwyer enlisted in the Lincoln & Welland Regiment in 1966 as a Private soldier. Lieutenant Colonel Dwyer worked his way up though the ranks and was appointed Regimental Sergeant Major in 1981; after serving as R.S.M. he received his commission. More years of dedicated service followed, culminating in his appointment as Commanding Officer of the Lincoln & Welland Regiment, a position in which he proudly served. He lived his life by the Regimental Motto “ Not for ourselves, but for our country.“ In his civilian life he was employed by the Province of Ontario- Correctional Services. Profoundly missed by her beloved husband, soulmate and best friend Henry, son Craig, daughter Karyn, grandchildren Kelton and Jaxx.
