CORLETT, Murray E., Q.C. Peacefully at The Westmount Retirement Home, Kitchener, on Wednesday, July 19, 2006, in his 92nd year. Son of the late William and Eileen Corlett of Toronto. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (nee Laidlaw). Dear father of Sue Wilson of Waterloo and Wendy Wilhelm (Frank) of Orillia. Loving grandfather of Andrew, Meg, Matthew, Anna, and Katie. Special cousin of Margaret Chambers, Toronto. Murray was a graduate of Osgoode Hall and a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada for 50 years. Starting in the 1940's, he became a senior partner in the Ottawa law firm of Maclaren Corlett. He also served as counsel for the Allied Beauty Association. His corporate law work often required him to travel, one time to Japan. Besides travelling, Murray was an avid history and train enthusiast and had a lifelong fondness for Algonquin Park. He is affectionately remembered by friends, partners in law and business associates. A private family service will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, at a future date. CRENNA, Evelyn May (nee Davidson) Resident of Metchosin, British Columbia, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2006. Evelyn May Davidson was born in West Templeton, Quebec on April 9, 1920, first child of Andrew and Clara Davidson. She was educated in the Gatineau area and at business college in Ottawa. She worked as a secretary in the Canadian International Paper Company. Evelyn married Charles Marius Crenna on August 21, 1943. She was a devoted mother, wife and homemaker. She is survived by her husband Charles Crenna and eight children: David; Diane; Donald; Cynthia (Taha); Darlene; Louise; Carol; and Brian. She also leaves 12 grand children, brothers Al and Ken Davidson, and sisters Reta Savage and Muriel Moore. She was predeceased by brother Lloyd and by sister Myrtle Bisson. Evelyn was very active in church life until recently, at Barrie Hill United near Guelph, at Walsingham United, and in the Women's Institute, holding a series of executive positions in those organizations. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2006 at St. Andrew's United Church, 144 Jean-Rene Monette (formerly Maple), Gatineau, Quebec J8P 5B7, followed by a reception to which all are invited. EDWARDS, Jo-Ann After a courageous 15 year battle with cancer, Jo-Ann passed away peacefully in her home with her husband and children at her side on Thursday, July 20, 2006 in her 70th year. Jo-Ann is survived by her husband Tom of 47 years, their two children, Shawn Louise White (Steve) and Greg Edwards (Chrissy) and her sister Wendy Schock (Norm). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Jocelyn and Allie White and Tara-Lee and Tommy Edwards as well as her nephews Ron and Bob Schock and their families. Jo-Ann will be missed by her many friends, many of which are from the dancing world. Jo-Ann and Tom taught Round Dancing in their Easy Does It Round Dance Club and taught Social Ballroom dancing in Ottawa. They danced on a regular basis with the Capital Steppers Square Dance Club, Harmony Rounds and Rhapsody Rounds. A Celebration of Jo-Ann's Life will be held on Wednesday, July 26th, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Britannia United Church (985 Pinecrest Road, Ottawa). Reception to follow in the church hall. Adored father of Sue Gamble (John), Elgin ON, Jim, West Vancouver, David (Joanne), Qualicum Beach BC and grandfather of Scott Lavalley (Calgary). Survived by many nephews and nieces including David & Jane McCracken, Ottawa and former daughter-in-law Margaret Froats, Renfrew, ON. Born at Ottawa July 5, 1915 to George Edgar Lavalley and Marguerite (Lamont). Educated at Glebe Collegiate and University of Toronto. Member Rideau Canoe Club, RCN Curling Club (founding director, past president), Governor General's Curling Club (past president), The Builders Lodge, A.F. & A.M. Career included Mutual Life, R.C.N.V.R 1941-5, R.C.N. and Dept. of Supply & Services from which he retired in 1975 as Director-General, Personnel. Contributed to development of curling in Canada as president of local, provincial and national curling associations. Ed took great enjoyment from participating in development of RCN C.C., (especially arranging its first liquor licence) and life with friends and family at Lake Opinicon. ROBILLARD, Joseph Passed away Thursday July 21st, 2006 at the age of 65 years at the CHVO Hospital in Hull. Son of the late Mildred Succull and the late Charles Robillard. Beloved husband of Lois Giroux and father of Carole Prue and Steve Robillard, loving grandfather to Trevor and Tylor Prue and great-grandfather to Kylie. Brother of Joan Grimard, Shirley (Andy Krichtoff), Nancy (Bud Draper), Rose (Gerry Lamoureux) and Ronnie. Predeceased by brothers Norman, Earl and Frank and sister Claudette. STYMIEST, Cecil John With deep sadness, the family of Cecil Stymiest announces his sudden passing at his summer residence in Tabusintac, NB on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at the age of 80. Born in Tabusintac, he was the son of the late Eldon and Lima (Graham) Stymiest. He was a teacher and taught schools in New Brunswick and retired from Glebe Collegiate, Ottawa. Cecil is survived by his wife Jean, daughters Lisa, Sara (Peter Creaghan) and sons Peter and John (Laura) and beloved grandchildren Jordan, Jayne & Will Stymiest and Jack, Phoebe & Charlotte Creaghan. He is also survived by his brother Graham, Ottawa as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Jack. Melchior-TRAVAGLINI, Valeria- The Famiglia Travaglini announces with sorrow the death of Valeria Travaglini on July 6, 2006, peacefully, at Laurentian Hospital, age 85, after a most courageous, eight-month battle with poor health. Beloved wife of her soulmate, Louis Travaglini (predeceased 1976). Loving mother of Marie Travaglini (nee Russel) and Ian Russel of Bruderheim, Alberta and Peter Louis Travaglini of Sudbury. She is also survived by her brother, Louis Melchior, (wife Carole) of Chesterville, Ontario. Loving sister of Florence Cearnac (predeceased), Aldo Melchior (predeceased), wife Mary of Sudbury and Julia Toppazzini (predeceased). She is also survived by many inlaws, nieces and nephews. Her unquestionable love and devotion to family mirrored her commitment to her community, where her work as a hairstylist gained her many friends long after she left to raise her family. Valeria was a long standing member of the Catholic Women's League, where she held executive positions in a number of parishes in Sudbury, including the incredibly challenging position of tea convenor. Her natural ability to lead left many wanting to work for her again. She supported her daughter's interest in the Girl Guides in many ways, including not only storing 1,500 cases of Girl Guide cookies in the basement of her home, but ultimately selling all of them. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Convent Auxiliary, and upon learning to drive after her husband's death, she put her newly found ability to drive by delivering for meals on wheels. She always said that she regretted staying only a short time with these people, always wanting to give of herself more and more. That is Mom. She lives in all who knew her. That is Mom. She was a very outgoing person, who enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. A very loving, kind, gentle soul, Justine was always giving of her time and affection, volunteering for extra curricular school activities and helping others. In addition, she held a part-time job at MacDonald's. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and all who knew her. Loving sister of Aira (husband Antero Rauhanen), Arvo Liinamaa, Arlene and sister-in-law Liisa Lenti, Betty Pendleton and Clairetta Liinamaa. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born in Levack she married Bill in Sudbury in 1950. She worked for 10 years at Pine Hill Lumber, Lively. She enjoyed living in Lively and was an active part of the community. Aura was a devoted Member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a proud Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Algoma Chapter #139, and was honoured to serve as a Past Grand Representative. She was a member of Finlandia Koti, working on the Yard Sale. Aura served on the organizing committee of the Finnish Grand Festival and was a dedicated member of the Finnish Male Choir Ladies Auxiliary. She took great pride in her home, cooking, baking and crafts. The Finnish Culture played an important role in her life. She also enjoyed music and dancing. The light of her life was her family, where she will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister. A proud Canadian he was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #336 Falconbridge. He was a member of the Nickel Center Seniors Club. He enjoyed watching sports on T.V, cowboy movies and reading. Hugh will be remembered as an easy going person with a great sense of humour and devotion to his loving family. Cathy had a real love for life as this was evident through all her hard fought battles and her will to live. She left a legacy of hand made baby blankets which those of us who have one will treasure forever. She also loved to read and do crossword puzzles. CLARK, Tex, Shephard E. - In loving memory of Tex Clark, 77 years of Sudbury, who passed away Sunday, July 16th, 2006 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Center. He was born in Sturgeon Falls and married Bernice (Kowal) in Toronto in 1949. Tex came to Sudbury in 1948. He was a millwright at INCO having 36 years service, retiring in 1985. He was an avid photographer especially well known for his picture taking at Finlandia Koti. He enjoyed visiting his families' cottage having a great appreciation for the outdoors. He was an accomplished woodworker and maker of beautiful plexiglass creations. His artistry and talent was reflected in those items which are treasured by family members and friends. Tex will be remembered for his good sense of humour and being a gifted story teller. Always a sociable person the light of his life will be cherished by all who knew him. Survived by his step-father, Kalle Pitkakangas, and two brothers Juhani Laasanen (wife Hilkka) and Jouni Pitkakangas (wife Tiina) in Finland. He will be much missed by his brothers-in-law Matti Valimaa (partner Tuula) of Lively and Mark Valimaa (fiancée Gert) of Azilda. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada, Finland and Sweden. Born in Lappajarvi, Finland . Olavi came to Canada as a young man of 18, and over the years worked at various lumber camps in Northern Ontario, several mining companies and for the last 23 years as a driver for Wavy Ready-Mix. He was a kind gentle man, who loved his family, and had a wonderful sense of humour to the end, even when illness was making life difficult. He took great pride in his Finnish heritage, loved Finnish music and enjoyed having friends out to the camp on Long Lake for a sauna and a swim. AWID Edward Ali (Eddie) 1933 - 2006 Eddie Awid, beloved husband of Sherrill of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at the age of 73 years. Eddie was born on February 7, 1933 in Edmonton, AB. In 1964, he moved to Calgary and started Alberta Giftwares Calgary. He was also an entrepreneur involved in restaurants, commercial developments, real estate and various other endeavours. Eddie was a member of the Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club, the Shriner's, and the Ranchman's Club. He was involved in many charitable organizations. Eddie loved nothing more than an adventurous game of golf, party poker or gin rummy accompanied with a treat to satisfy his sweet tooth; his biggest weakness. He was quite the character, almost always capable of finding humour in any situation and bringing laughter in the hearts of those who needed it the most. Eddie has been quoted as saying his biggest accomplishment was his loving wife Sherrill, his greatest moment was the day they met. His favourite song of all time is "What a Wonderful World", by Louis Armstrong. Eddie always looked forward to his annual trip to Palm Springs each year in April with his wife Sherrill. Besides his loving wife of twenty-three years, Sherrill, Eddie is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mardi and James Elko and their children, Kierra and Mya, all of Edmonton, AB; his son Jamal Worobec of Calgary; and his stepdaughter and her husband, Bev and Darren Lindsay and their children, Cody and Chase, all of Lloydminster, AB. Eddie is also survived by his two puppies, Tom and Jerry, who brought him the utmost joy, happiness and companionship. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard, Sine, Ken, Teddy and Jim; and his sisters, Lila, Lily and Minnie. WIGHT Louise Marguerite July 24, 1914 - July 20, 2006 Louise Wight of High River, formerly of Longview, passed away at the High River Hospital, July 20, 2006 at the age of 91 years. She is survived by sons, Clarke (Bonita) Calgary, Wallace of Brisbane, Australia, David (Kathie) and Neil (Karen), all of Longview; and by her thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Hazel (Melvin) Baldwin of the Okanagan, BC, Lois (Colin) Sutherland of California, Jessie (Am) Coghill of Moose Jaw, Jean Lines of Cantuar, SK, Bill (Eleanor) McLeod of Cabri, SK, Nona Lucas of Assiniboia, SK; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Vernon Wight in 1986, her son Russell Wight and brothers, Norman and Howard McLeod. A Funeral Service will be held at the High River United Church on Wednesday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m. with Gerry Watkins D.M. officiating. The Interment will follow at Highwood Cemetery.
