SCHLOTTERBECK Gerda 1921 - 2006 Gerda Schlotterbeck, beloved wife of Rudolph of Calgary, passed away on May 20, 2006 at the age of 85 years. Gerda was born in Osterwieck, Germany and came to Canada in 1952 to Picklecrow, Ontario, moving to Calgary in 1954, and resided in Calgary from then on. She is survived by her loving husband Rudolph; and a son and daughter-in-law, Wolfgang and Leslie Reinhardt; and a daughter Christa Stuart, all of Calgary; three grandchildren, Michael Stuart, Patrick and Melanie Stuart, Stephen and Wendy Reinhardt. DOUGALL, Donald Hale. Passed away peacefully in his sixty-seventh year at Markham Stouffville Hospital on Thursday, May 18, 2006 after a difficult battle with kidney cancer. Survived by his wife Carolyn, children Debbie, Dawn (Darrell), Dean (Lori), Chantail (Dave), Kathleen, grandchildren Christine, Craig, Jessie, Dean, great-grandson Marcus, and sister-in-law Gladys Dougall. HOGAN Patricia With great sadness we wish to announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Patricia Hogan (nee Dafoe), on May 18, 2006. Patty was born in Vancouver on March 17, 1927 and spent her formative years in Coronation and earned the Lt. Governor's award for scholarship in Grade 12 and went on to take nursing at the University of Alberta, graduating in 1948. She and her life long friend Alma Keenan moved to Niagara Falls for work but returned home to Alberta. She worked in the Provincial Hospital in Ponoka then as site nurse at the Petro Chemical Plant. In 1955 she married Jim Hogan and settled in the west end of Edmonton where they raised their five children. Later Pat worked at the Charles Campsell Hospital and the Mewburn Veterans Home. She and Jim retired in the mid 80s to Comox, BC to enjoy the milder climate. In 2002 Jim passed away and Pat moved back to Edmonton to live with her daughter. Patricia will be greatly missed by her five children and three grandchildren, Tim (Carol, Shannon and Patrick) in Calgary, Dan (Sherri and Thomas) in Charlottetown, Kevin and Kathy in Edmonton and Michael in Vancouver; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jim in 2002; mother Olive Dafoe (nee Baxter) in 1996; father Ora Dafoe in 1955: and sister Mary Gilchrist in 1980. The Hogan family would like to thank niece Elaine and her husband Hart Chapelle for their support as well as the nurses of the CCU and the Medicine ward (7E) of the Misericordia Hospital. There will be no service by Pat's request and a private Interment will occur later. Lorna is also survived by her brothers, Robert Henry and Norman Henry; sister Alvina Shirley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. CARMICHAEL Howard Wayne 1946 - 2006 Howard Wayne Carmichael, beloved husband of Irene Carmichael of Calgary, fought a very courageous battle with cancer and passed away at the age of 59 on May 17, 2006. Wayne was born in Regina on July 7, 1946, and came to Calgary where he married Irene in 1970. His devotions were always with his family, friends, and his two faithful Cairn Terriers - Zoe and Sydney. He also had a keen love of hiking, gardening and photography. Wayne is survived by his mother, Anne Carmichael of Regina; his sister Sharlene Limberger of Kelowna, B.C.,; his brother-in-law, Joe Limberger of Kelowna; his mother-in-law Emma Martin of Southey, Sask.; his brother-in-law Dennis Martin of Calgary; his sisters-in-law Linda Martin of Calgary and Janet Cawood and Linda S. Martin, both of Regina, Sask. DENETTO, Neville Peacefully in hospital, on May 20th, 2006, Neville Kenneth Denetto passed away due to stroke after a short illness, at the age of 72. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Sheila and his children, Mohan and Shereen, their spouses Marie Anick and Stephane, and his two grandchildren, Manu and Ishaan. He is the beloved brother of Heather, Cedric, Madge and Noel and of the late Ivor, Lesley, and Malcolm. He was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Gertrude Denetto. He will also be greatly missed by his many relatives, in-laws and friends. Neville grew up swimming in the Indian Ocean, eating sea urchins and borrowing mangoes with his many accomplices in Tangasseri, the small village in India, where he grew up. He decided to marry and seek adventure and opportunity in Canada. His was proud to have worked at Rolls-Royce and Canadair in Montreal. He and his growing family soon moved to a rural setting near Thunder Bay, Ontario, where he worked for many fulfilling years as a professor at Confederation College in Aircraft Maintenance. Neville faced and bested many challenges in life. He touched many lives as a teacher, a ham radio and computer enthusiast, a caring relative, a loving father, grandfather and husband. Upon his passing, many friends, family and those who cared for him at the hospital shared stories of how Neville quickly won them over with his charm and warmed their hearts. We will miss you greatly Neville. Thanks to all the staff on the 5th floor of the Ottawa General Hospital for your care and consideration. SPENCER Alicia Rae 1982 - 2006 Alicia Rae Spencer, beloved daughter of Lois and Terry Spencer of Airdrie, passed away at the age of 24 years. Alicia was born on February 24, 1982 in Calgary, AB. She graduated from George MacDougall High School in 2000. She attended University of Calgary and in June of 2006 would have convocated in Cultural and Social Anthropology. Alicia overcame many diversities throughout her life, having beaten cancer at the age of ten years. She believed strongly in living life to the fullest. She especially loved her family and friends and could always be counted on to light up a room. She enjoyed playing baseball and soccer and being with people. MILLER Lydia Gail (Oelke, Remillard) Lydia Gail Miller of Calgary went to dwell with her Father in Heaven May 22, 2006 while in the Carewest Sarcee Hospice to end a remarkably courageous lengthy battle with cancer. Efforts of the dedicated staff at Unit 47 of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, and the Carewest Sarcee Hospice to extend her life with the maximum possible quality are greatly appreciated. Lydia was born April 27, 1953 in Kenora, Ontario. She lived much of her earlier life in Winnipeg, Manitoba, before moving to Calgary in 1979. Lydia greatly enjoyed nature and animals. She always had a collection of cats, dogs, and at times horses, that were considered part of the family. Lydia was a Member of the Fifth Ward of the Calgary Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held positions in the Primary children's organization, Young Women's organization, and on the meetinghouse library staff. Lydia returned to school as a mature student to upgrade high school, then complete five years of diverse coursework at Mount Royal College, SAIT, and the University of Calgary. One of Lydia's proud moments was participating as a Torch Bearer for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. She also participated in the 1998 Ten-Year Anniversary run held in Calgary. Lydia was a good friend to many people she was able to meet throughout her life, and went out of her way to help those she met in whatever ways were needed. She is survived by her mother Irene Towarnicki of Calgary; sisters, Pamela Oelke of Winnipeg and Linda Krall of Calgary; sons, Raymond Remillard and Pierre Remillard of Winnipeg; daughter Tonya (Remillard) Phillips (and Jason) of Draper, Utah; grandchildren, Ashley, Preston, Brady, Raeton, and Elwood; nieces, Crystal, Kelly, Jennifer, Ashley, Heather, Shawn and Candice; and her husband Karl Miller. TOMLINSON, Ray Harrold Sept. 28, 1949 - May 19, 2006 Beloved husband and soulmate to Carol Ann (Ciponi) Tomlinson, Ray passed away in the comfort of his home in Winchester Springs at the age of 56. He was the most loving, caring man and will not be forgotten. He will be remembered by all who knew him. He was the bravest man, and just knowing him gave one strength. He will still be watching those whom he loved from heaven where he is now with his parents George and Evelyn (Mullen), his aunts, brother Eddie, and his dogs Sheba, Star, and Sadie and his cats. He will be missed by his best friends Lady and Spunky, his four children Sherri (John Missio), Steven Parcels, Beverly (Shaun Howley), and Kimberly (Steve Byrd), his three grandchildren Paulina Missio, Ethan-Thomas Howley, and Lauren Byrd and his brothers Earl (Pat) and George (Lucy). He will be sorely missed by his family and friends as he brought peace and comfort to those who knew him. We were all richer by knowing him, and he always said he was the richest man in the world. JONES Ada Mrs. Ada Jones passed away at St. Michael's Health Centre on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at the age of 95 years. Ada was born in Lancaster, England and moved to Canada and Saskatoon at the age of two. She married Thomas Jones in 1929 and moved to the farm at Kindersley, SK. She retired to Calgary in 1974 and to Lethbridge in 1997. She is survived by her daughter Helen Davidson of Lethbridge and her son Warren (Lorna) Jones of Calgary; as well as eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; son-in-law Bruce Mahoney of Calgary and two nephews and special niece Evelyn (Don) Robertson of Kelowna, BC. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas; daughters, Mary Mahoney and Gwynn Near. Cremation requested. Interment will be held at Kindersley at a later date. Those who knew her, knew that under that tough exterior; there was a heart of gold.
