TAUNTON -- Aldege J. "Big Al" Desrosiers, 62, of New Bedford, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at Morton Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Sally (Martin) Desrosiers of Fairhaven. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late J. Aldege and Alice (Gamache) Desrosiers. He was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and a communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. He worked as a crane operator at General Dynamics. Mr. Desrosiers enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing cards in his leisure time. Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Carol Mendonca and her husband, Wayne, of South Dartmouth and Cheryl Desrosiers and her fiancé, Lenny Velez, of Fairhaven; a son, Wayne Desrosiers of Fairhaven; two brothers, Albert Desrosiers of New Bedford and Eugene Desrosiers of Florida; three sisters, Irene Girouard of New Bedford, Alice Fiano of Florida and Yvette Cote of Middleboro; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Leo Desrosiers. George Desrosiers, Paul Desrosiers, Gerard Desrosiers, Louise Desrosiers and Lucille Desrosiers. His funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

PLATTSBURGH -- Mrs. Betty Jean Mitchell, 69, of Olivetti Place, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born in Willsboro, N.Y., on March 20, 1936, the daughter of Leon and Freida (Blanchard) St. John.Betty Jean enjoyed knitting, crafts, baking and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. For many years, Betty Jean baby-sat, provided day care and foster care to many area children. She later did volunteer work with Hospice, Birthright, RSVP and the Senior Citizens Council. Betty Jean was a member of St. Peter's Church.She was predeceased by her parents, Leon and Freida St. John.She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Raymond F. Mitchell of Plattsburgh; her children, Stephen B. Mitchell and his wife Kimberly of Peru and their twin daughters, Samantha and Shauna, Theresa L. Moss and her husband Ron of Plattsburgh and their children, Rebecca and Carly; Peter R. (Spaneas) Goulas Michaud, 83, of Methuen, a former Lowell resident who was a restaurant hostess for more than three decades, died Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Lawrence General Hospital. She was the wife of Robert A. Michaud, who died in 1993.She was born in Lowell, March 23, 1922, daughter of the late James N. and Kanella (Leonides) Spaneas. She graduated from Lowell High School.Prior to retirement, Mrs. Michaud was a hostess for 35 years at the former Windsor Mills Restaurant in Dracut.She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Estelle E. and John J. Szufnarowski of Methuen; two sons, James L. Goulas of West Palm Beach, Fla., and William L. Goulas and his fiancée, Ms. Frankie Keefe of Wells, Maine; two granddaughters, Martha Szufnarowski and her husband, John Shalhoup of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Pamela "P.J." SYLVIA M. ROZON MANHATTAN, Mont. — Sylvia M. Rozon, 59, of Manhattan, died Oct. 3, 2005, as the result of a boating accident at Lake Powell, Utah. Sylvia was born Nov. 15, 1945, daughter of Millie and Lyman Ford of Essex, Vt. She graduated from Essex Junction High School in 1963. She married Richard Rozon on May 29, 1966. They lived in the Essex and Jeffersonville area for several years before moving to Montana. In addition to her husband, Dick, Sylvia is survived by two sons, James and his wife, Monica of Manhattan, Brian and his wife, Sally, of Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Tina, of Bozeman, Penny of Vergennes, Vt., and Vickie of Belgrade; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Leola Bennett of Middlebury, Vt. She also leaves a very close friend, Caroline Cross of Milton, Vt. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. in the United Church, Main Street, Milton.

He was the husband of the late Eveline (Pelletier) Dumont. Born in St. Gertrude, P.Q. Canada a son of the late Hormidas and Maria (Baril) Dumont, he came to the U.S. at a young age and was a Pawtucket resident most of his life. He moved to North Smithfield in 1999.Prior to retiring in 1974, Mr. Dumont was a former communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Pawtucket and a former member of the Woodlawn Senior Citizens Club, the LeFoyer Club and Jacques Cartier Society all of Pawtucket.He is survived by four daughters, Rose Fournier of Hope Valley, Evelyn LaMontagne of Jupiter, Florida, Irene Soucy of Lincoln and Rita LaMontagne of Chepachet; two brothers, Paul Dumont of Cumberland and Edouard Dumont of Smithfield; four sisters, Yvette Plante of Johnston, Lucille Paquette of New Hampshire, Therese Girouard and Jeanne Dumont both of Lincoln. CLIFTON PARK, NY -- Maurice E. Gallant, 81, beloved husband of Grace Maglio Gallant for over 59 years, died Friday, October 21, 2005 at his residence with his loving family at his side. Born and educated in Haverhill, Mass., he was the son of the late Albin and Mary Daly Gallant. He was a graduate of Haverhill High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army/Air Corps and served his country during World War II, stationed in Northern France and Central Europe. Mr. Gallant was a certified life underwriter and worked for the Prudential Insurance Co. in Colonie for over 25 years and retired in 1979. Prior to Prudential, he worked for the Railway Mail with the Boston-Albany Railroad. Mr. Gallant and his wife have resided in South Daytona since 1978 and had previously lived in Latham for 17 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Riviera Golf Club in Ormond Beach, Fla. Survivors in addition to his wife include his loving children, Diane Miller of Clifton Park, Sandra Kinnicutt of Cohoes, Maureen Onyon of Clifton Park, Paul Gallant of Latham, Ken Gallant of Clifton Park and Patricia Followell of Latham. Mr. Gallant was predeceased by his son, Bill Gallant. He was the brother of Cecelia Walker of Methuen, Mass., John Gallant of Methuen and Albin Gallant, Maine. He is also survived by 16 cherished grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Community Hospice of Saratoga County for the wonderful care and concern shown to Maurice and his family during his illness. BENNINGTON, Vt. -- Anne Elizabeth Cardinal, 77, of the Village of Fillmore Pond, a former resident of Adams, Mass., died Thursday after a long illness. Born in Hillsdale, Mich., on Jan. 26, 1928, daughter of Kenneth and Beatrice Kahle Huggett, she was educated there. Mrs. Cardinal was formerly employed as data processing manager at Emma L. Bixby Hospital in Adrian, Mich. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed reading and music. BIFFIN, Russell. 1914 - 2005. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Russell Biffin on Friday, October 21, 2005 at the age of ninety-one. He was predeceased by his loving wife Rose Mertick, who died November 1, 1994, and the proud father of daughter Priscilla (Ken McGuire) of Calgary. The youngest of nine children of Edward Biffin and Ellen Nolan, Russell is survived by his brother Milton, his niece Dorothy (Richard Rochester) of Vermont and nephews Milton, Donald and Raye. He was a cherished great-uncle to Scott (Barbara), Traci and Taylor and a special uncle to Laura and Jeffrey. His family wishes to thank his very special friends Jeannine Bateman, Rita McPhee, Bob Abbott, and Ron and Mary Ann Cooney. ERNEST L. FOISY WINOOSKI — Ernest L. Foisy, 92, a longtime resident of Winooski, died peacefully Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. He was born in Burlington on Aug. 11, 1913, the son of the late Gedion and Lena (Butler) Foisy. Ernest was married to Rita Prairie in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in 1938, she predeceased him Nov. 16, 1992. He worked for several years at Green Mountain Hardware in Winooski. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Jean Baptiste, the Winooski Senior Citizens, Grand Isle Seniors, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and a volunteer at the Fanny Allen Hospital. Ernest loved his grandchildren and his family very much. He will be deeply missed by all of them. He is survived by his son, Thomas Foisy and his wife, Gaila, of Grand Isle; five grandchildren, Kimberly Irish and her husband Shawn of Georgia, Marc Foisy and his wife Sandra of Georgia, Anthony Foisy and his wife Krista of Midland, Mich., Kathleen LaCroix and her husband Michael of Milton, and Matthew Foisy of Montana; five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, and Cole Irish, and Liliana and Claire Foisy. He is also survived by one brother, Donald Foisy, and his companion, Leona Pigeon. He was predeceased by two sons, Roger and Richard Foisy; a sister, Hazel Hebert; and by one brother, Arthur Foisy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. Arrangements are by the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski.

Husband of Helen Burgess (nee Mangione) and the late Jean (nee Graziano). Loving father of Alan (Clara), Thomas (Kari) and Kenneth (Kimberly). Deeply missed by grandchildren Keith (Ainsley), Heather (Chad Beveridge), Steven, Gregory, Jean, Patricia, Michael, Tracey and a great-grandchild, Emily. Son of the late Elizabeth Sirois and Patrick George Toomey. Survived by brothers George (Yvonne), Patrick, Regis (Shirley) and sisters Anne, Ellen and Teresa. Predeceased by brothers Thomas and Robert and a sister Mary. Cherished by brothers-in-law Nicholas (Joan), Tony, John (Illa), Joe (Patricia) and sisters-in-law Rose, Sally (Bernard), Lucy (Norman), Bunny, Annie, Sister Mary Margaret, Teresa (John) and Carmel. Served in the RCAF from January 1941 to June 1968 with service in Canada, England and with NATO in France. Prior to service in RCAF, Arthur was a goalie for the Ottawa Canadians. BERUBE, HECTOR, 86, of Hampton St., Providence, died peacefully Saturday, October 22, 2005 in Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Sylvia (Capaldi) Berube. Born January 2, 1919, in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Armand and Anna (Provost) Berube. Mr. Berube was a former co-owner of the Coventry Carbide Tool Company before retiring.Mr. Berube was an Army veteran of WWII. He served with the 244th Combat Engineers in the European Theatre of Operations, receiving a commendation. Mr. Berube was a member of the Lymansville Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #10111, N. Providence. He also was a member of Triggs Memorial Golf Course, the Di Vinci Senior Center and the North Providence Senior Center.Mr. Berube is survived by two children, Ronald Armand Berube, of Wakefield, and Lucille Yvette Borrelli, of Greenville. He also leaves four grandchildren, Steven and Kevin Berube, and Dana and Laura Borrelli; and two great granddaughters, Leah and Kira Berube. He is also survived by a brother, Edmund J. Berube, of Tennesse, two sisters, Rose Cayer, of Taunton, MA and Edna Derois, of Blackstone, MA. M. Theresa Morrissette -- May 22, 1927 - October 21, 2005 -- CENTRAL VILLAGE- M. Theresa Morrissette, 78, of Central Village, died Friday at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Norwich on May 22, 1927, daughter of the late Omer and Mary Rose (Vezina) Fournier. She was married to the late Leandre (Lee) B. Morrissette, who died November 24, 1986. Mrs. Morrissette was a communicant of All Hallows Church in Moosup and St. Anne's Church in Ballouville. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing puzzles and watching UConn Women's Basketball, the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. She is survived by one son, James Morrissette and his wife Deborah of Danielson; two daughters, Diane Ethier and her husband Jerome of Pomfret, Janice O'Brien and her husband Thomas of Central Village; one brother, Lucien Fournier and his wife Doris of Plainfield; one sister, Dora Frenette of Plainfield; four sistersinlaw, Dorothy Morrissette of Moosup, Jacqueline Trusheim of Iowa, Camille Rogers of Illinois and Patricia Fournier of Plainfield; one brotherinlaw, Edmond Taylor of Plainfield; six beloved grandchildren, whom she often cared for, Neal Ethier, Daniel Ethier, Matthew Morrissette and his wife Margaret, Dean O'Brien and his wife Julia, Justin O'Brien and Kimberly O'Brien; three great grandchildren, Alexandria Morrissette, Charlotte Morrissette, Julianna Morrisette, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Cecile Matry, Rita Taylor, Bertha Fournier, Roland Fournier and Gerard Fournier. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 29, at 11AM at St. Anne's Church, Ballouville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the excellent care and kindness she received from all the doctors and staff at Eastern CT Hematology and Oncology (ECHO). Emma Trudell, 102, Oconto Falls, died Friday morning, Oct. 21, 2005, at Sharpe Care. She was born July 19, 1903, in Oconto Falls to Alex and Maria (Roderique) Francois. On Oct. 24, 1928, she married David A. Trudell in Oconto Falls. Mrs. Trudell lived in Oconto Falls for all of her life where she was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.Survivors are her children, Gerald Trudell, Mosinee; Patrick (Jackie) Trudell, Appleton; Wayne Trudell, Lakewood; Doreen (Darrill) Senn, Green Bay; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Trudell, Oconto Falls; 20 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Marie Coshenet, Oconto Falls; one sister-in-law, Ellen Francois, Oconto Falls.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, David A. WORCESTER— Raymond D. LaTour, 60, of 11 Sonoma Street, died peacefully at home, Saturday, October 22, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Barbara (Duda) LaTour. They were best friends and had a special love that will last through eternity. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten by his sons, Jean Paul and his wife Jennifer (Hall) of New Hampshire and Joseph and his wife Barbara (Wright) of Spencer. He also leaves his mother, Margaret (Purcell) LaTour of Leicester; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Joshua, Jameson, Emily and Benjamin; a brother, Robert and his wife Jean of Wisconson, and three sisters, Kay Faford of Leicester, Shirley LaTour of N. Oxford and Peggy Rondeau of Leicester. He is predeceased by his father, John and brother, Michael. He also leaves his in-laws, with whom he was very close, his mother-in-law, Marianna Duda, brothers-in-law Joseph, who took such good care of Ray during his illness, and Michael (Cheryl) Duda. His sisters-in-law, Hedy (George) Perry and Irene (Richard) Gutkowski, and their long-time friend, Susan Madera and her husband John. He will be remembered forever by his nieces, nephews, and his many family and friends. Everyone knew there was a smile and a laugh waiting for them when they were going to visit Ray. He had such a great sense of humor. Raymond’s greatest joy in life was his family, his greatest pleasure was spending time with Barbara, his children and grandchildren. Raymond celebrated his 60th birthday on Sept 9th, surrounded by family and friends in a circle of love. Raymond owned LaTour Builders with his son, Joseph, as self employed contractors for many years. He and his sons enjoyed playing their guitars and singing together. He loved working in his garden. He was a long time Yankees fan from living in New York for several years, but also loved the Red Sox and Patriots. He loved fishing and his trips to Maine. Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, are Monday, October 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be Tuesday, October 25, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 343 Grove St., Worcester. HOLYOKE - Kathleen A. Hamel, beloved daughter of the late Wilber B. and Dorothy Hamel, died Saturday October 22,2005 at the Holyoke Medical Center. She was born and educated in Holyoke, attended the former Sacred Heart Schools, and received a degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee. Her graduate studies were done at Westfield State College. Kay was a dedicated veteran educator in the Holyoke Public Schools, retiring several years ago. She was a member of the Business and Professional Club of Greater Holyoke, as well as a member of the Aurora Circle, which serves and ministers to needy children. She was a leader of the Girl Scouts of America for many years. Kay was a Notary Public of Massachusetts, and served as chapter co-ordinator for the Massachusetts Arthritis Association, receiving an outstanding public service award as director of it's juvenile branch. An active member of the Salesian Father's Club, she received their highest award, a first class relic of Saint Dominic Savio, for her work with the youth of the community. Kay was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, as well as a fund raiser for Catholic Charities. She was a longtime member of the church choir, and it's Blessed Virgin Society. She was predeceased by her brothers Wilber E. Hamel and Edward J. Hamel, as well as a sister Dorothy Harty. Kay is survived by a brother John F. Hamel and his wife Marie of Holyoke; two sisters: Clare Hart of Holyoke and Mary Wallace of Vista CA; a beloved niece Maureen Fitzpatrick and her husband Dan of Holyoke ; her nephews Timothy Harty of Holyoke, Edward Hart and his wife Anne of Holyoke, her Godson John Hamel of Holyoke, Michael Hart of NY City, and David Wallace and his wife Cristina of CA; her beloved grandnieces & grandnephews: John and Brian Hart of Holyoke, Michael and Meghan Hart of South Hadley, and Janae and Raechel Wallace of CA. MONSON - Thomas Louis Talbot, age 60, of 34 East Hill Road, died on Saturday at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Ludlow, MA on April 14 1945, and was the son of the late Oliver J.B. and Fabolia (Aprin) Talbot. He was raised in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield and was educated at Saint Aloysius Catholic School and a graduate of Cathedral High, class of 1963. He worked as the chief power engineer for 26 years for Solutia, Inc., formerly Monsanto in Indian Orchard, retiring in 2003. He was a member of the National Association of Power Engineers, and the Franco American Club of Indian Orchard. He loved gardening, golfing, and skiing. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Claire E. (Tourville) Talbot; two daughters Elise G. Talbot of Atlanta, Georgia, and Gail Talbot-Olson and her husband Thomas of Monson, one brother Edward Talbot of Springfield, two sisters Lucille Langford of Springfield and Doris Belanger of Palmer, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Wednesday 9:15 a.m. from the Lombard Funeral Home, 3 Bridge Street, Monson with a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Patricks Church.
