Mr. Anthony Joseph LaPierre March 05, 1925 - October 21, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) LaPIERRE, Anthony Joseph "Tony" - 80, passed away peacefully Friday, October 21, 2005, in Oakwood Terrace. Born March 5, 1925, in West Chezzetcook, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marguerite (Murphy) LaPierre. Tony graduated from the Halifax School for the Blind in 1943. He studied accounting at Saint Mary's University and received his 50 year Alumni Pin from his Alma Mater in 2004. He began a 45 year career with the Department of Transport (Coast Guard), Dartmouth, before retiring in 1988 as Regional Administrator. He was a recipient of the Government of Canada Medal for 35 years of dedicated service in 1978. In 1967, he received the Centennial Medal in recognition of valuable service to the nation and in 1977 he received the Queen's Jubilee Medal. During the 1950s, he was active in the formation and development of the Credit Union Movement in Halifax. He was instrumental in the formation and development of St. Vincent de Paul Society in Nova Scotia, serving as President of the Halifax Particular Council and a term as National Vice President. In 2000, he received the Jubilee 2000 Vincentian Award in recognition of his voluntary service as a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul National Board of Directors. He was active in local church affairs, serving as Chairperson of the Halifax Catholic Social Service Commission, Chairperson of the Diocesan Family Life Committee and in various positions on St. Peter's Parish Council, Dartmouth. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Gerald Murphy Assembly, Dartmouth, where he received his fourth degree in 1993. He was awarded the Diocesan Medal of Merit in 1994. He was a lifetime member of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, a former member of the Board of Directors, Halifax, and a volunteer Braille tutor. He was also a long-time volunteer literacy tutor for patients of the Nova Scotia Hospital. In 1995, he received the Community Services Award from the Province of Nova Scotia in recognition and appreciation of exemplary volunteer service. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, the former Helen Margaret Sweeney; children, Gerard (Judy), Head of Chezzetcook; David (Helen), Langley, B.C.; Joan (David O'Toole), Maria (Francis) Thimot, all of Dartmouth; Shauna (Stephen Parkin), Bridgewater; Kevin (Hilda), Dartmouth; sister, Ruby Baker, West Chezzetcook; brother, Allison, Halifax; grandchildren, Carrie, Vanessa, Tim, Stacey, David (Trisha), Sean, Ryan, Geoffrey, Nathan, Thomas, Paul; great-grandson, Nicholas; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Paul. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where Tony's family will receive friends from 7-9 p. m. FOSTER, ELAINE M., BA, Bed. - 58, of Middle LaHave, Lunenburg County, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2005 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, after a long illness with her loving and supportive family by her side. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Mary Logan. She was educated in Saint John city schools and the Universities of New Brunswick and British Columbia. She began her career as a teacher of high school English, and later devoted herself to the care and upbringing of her two daughters. Elaine was a kind, gentle and thoughtful soul, a lover of children and small animals. She cherished her family and friends, and took great joy in their adventures and successes. Elaine had a lifelong interest in art and literature. She continued to draw and paint and enjoy her "Book Club" until very recently. The epitome of a lady, she loved ceremony and delighted in the small things that made life enchanting. Friends will remember her sun hats, her bangles, and tea on the porch, her quick wit and smile. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all. She is survived by husband, Wayne, daughters, Kathleen Foster Publicover (Nigel), Marion Foster, both of Lunenburg County, and granddaughter Ella Publicover, father-in-law Larry Foster, Saint John, N.B. a sister, Pat Carter (Doug), of Ottawa, as well as numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. MAYNARD, AGNES R., 89, formerly of Planet Ave., passed away peacefully Friday morning at Orchard View Manor, 135 Tripps Lane, East Providence. She was the wife of the late Ernest J. Maynard, Sr. Born in Central Falls she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Ford) Carter. Mrs. Maynard owned and operated East Providence Paint & Wallpaper with her husband until September of 1980. She was a communicant of St. Brendan Church. She is survived by, two sons, E. Joseph Maynard, Jr., of Arizona and Kenneth A. Maynard, of Riverside; a daughter Lois M. Ribeiro, of East Providence; a sister Mary Fisher, of Las Vegas; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. LOWELL -- Rene "Joe" Dupont, 75, a lifelong Lowell resident who worked for the city and was a Korean War veteran, died Thursday evening, Oct. 20, at his home, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Eva A. (Landry) Dupont, with whom he was married for more than 52 years.He was born in Manchester, N.H., Oct. 30, 1929, son of the late Wilfrid and Georgianna (Brochu) Dupont.Mr. Dupont served in the U.S. Marines Corps., during the Korean War, and was discharged with the rank of private first class. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.Before retiring, Mr. Dupont was a laborer for several years, for the city of Lowell.Mr. Dupont had been a communicant of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, and more recently at St. Margaret Church in Lowell.He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed the companionship of his two dogs, Jake and Rock.Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald R. and Caryn A. Dupont of Dracut, and Dennis C. and Angela M. Dupont of Haverhill; two daughters and a son-in-law, Denise A. and Ross L. Kinsley of Tyngsboro, and Arlene M. LYNDEBOROUGH, N.H. -- Michele Lynne Bouchard Krueger, 48, of Lyndeborough, N.H., died Oct. 13, after a long battle with cancer. At the time of her death, she was vacationing in Kealakekua, Hawaii, with her husband. She was born in Leominster on Nov. 24, 1956, a daughter of Jules Bouchard of Deming, N.M., and Marjorie (Faley) Bouchard of Greenfield, N.H.Michele, who was affectionately known as “Midge” to her family, was employed at Verizon as a central office technician until her retirement in 2003. Michele was known to friends and family for her artistic abilities and passion for interior decorating. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking, scrap booking, sewing and spending time with her family and friends. MILLBURY— Florence D. Gagner, 83, formerly of 83 Grafton St., died on Thursday, October 20, 2005, at Hearthstone On Golden Pond, Hopkinton. She leaves a niece, Jeannette G. Zdonczyk of Worcester; 3 grandnephews and a grandniece; 6 great-grandnephews and 2 great-grandnieces; and many cousins. Her sister, Jeannette M. (Gagner) Moore of Sutton, died in 1985. She was born in Millbury on May 25, 1922, a daughter of the late Napoleon and Linda Marie (Collette) Gagner and has been a lifelong resident of the town. Miss Gagner was a clerical worker for 14 years at H.E. Shaw Tobacco Co., Worcester; she then worked as a switchboard receptionist at Parker Metal Co., Worcester, for 14 years. Finally, she was a PBX Operator for New Power Service at New England Electric System, Westborough, for 16 years before she retired in 1986. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Parish, Millbury; and she enjoyed crafts, especially quilting and painting in oils. Joseph Wilfred (Freddy) Dugay, age 91, of Milford, died on Thursday, October 20, 2005. Mr. Dugay was born in Athol, Mass., on January 4, 1914 to the late Joseph and Sadie Mallett Dugay and was a lifelong Milford resident. Mr. Dugay was the oldest retiree of the Milford Fire Department where he served for more than thirty years. He also served as battalion chief of the fire department. Mr. Dugay was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He was a member of the Milford senior center. Survivors include a brother, Clarence Dugay and his wife, Julia, of Milford; two sisters, Alma Barker of Waterford and Gladys Billotti and her husband, Robert, of Ansonia; a niece, Denese Dugay of Milford; and several additional nieces and nephews. Mr. Dugay was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Mallett. Friends are invited to attend a funeral on Monday at 9 a.m. from the Gregory F. Raymond J. Roy, 62, of Bloomfield, beloved husband of Judith (Dully) Roy passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, (October 19, 2005). He was born on August 23,1943 in Hartford, son of the late Jules F. Roy and Jeanette (LaPerle) Roy of West Hartford, he lived in West Hartford, Simsbury, and finally settled in Bloomfield becoming an active member of Sacred Heart Church. Ray graduated from Hartford High School in 1963. It was during high school that he met his life long love and best friend, Judy. Ray lived life to the fullest each day. His greatest joys were working on his farm, playing with his grandchildren, and being with his friends and family. His other passions included boating, Nascar racing, and driving his antique cars. He pursued many business ventures which included The Holiday Inc. of West Hartford, The Holiday Retirement Home of Rhode Island, Wyndemere Woods and Holiday Inn Express of Woonsocket, R.I. He was also president of Albion Management Group, Inc. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Laurelyn Roy Nemes and her husband, Robert Nemes and of Clear Spring, MD; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery Raymond Roy and his wife, Olivia Godard Roy of Bloomfield; two grandsons, Dallas and Mason Nemes and two granddaughters, Shelby Mae and Kelsey Anne Roy. Mr. Roy is also survived by a brother, Donald A. In the winter she enjoyed visiting her sister in Florida. Many parents and children will remember the child care she provided for over 20 years in the area.On Sept. 25, 1945, she married Donald "Dice" Larocque, Jr., who predeceased her in 1996. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Patricia, and a brother, Carl Stetson. Survivors include two sons Donald O. "Rocky" Larocque, III, of Lyndon, Vt., and Richard C. Larocque of Passumpsic, Vt., a daughter, Mel Brochu of Gorham; a brother, Dr. John Stetson and wife Roberta of Syracuse, N.Y; two sisters, Erma McDanie of Navarre, Fla., and Denise Chamberlain and husband Herman of North Danville, Vt.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at the Guibord Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 23, with Father Richard O'Donne officiating. LEWISTON - Beatrice A. Laliberte, 89, a resident of 540 College St., Montello Manor since July and previously from Russell Park, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 20, following a long illness.She was born in Lewiston on April 3, 1916, the daughter of Edmond and Leda (Breton) Roy, and was a resident of this community all her life.She married Adelard "Del" Laliberte on July 3, 1937, at St. Peter's Church. He died on Aug. 26, 1993.She worked for more than 25 years in the shoe shops of Lewiston and Auburn. In her mid-50s, she retired to take care of two of her grandchildren and loved every minute of it.She was a member of Holy Cross Parish, Ladies of Holy Cross, Horizon 55 and Covenant 50.She is survived by one son, Richard P. Laliberte and his wife, Rita, of Port Richie, Fla.; one daughter, Rachel Ricker and her husband, Robert, of Lewiston; five grandchildren, which were the love of her life; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.She was predeceased by three brothers, Girard, Woodrow and Harold Roy.She will be greatly missed by her family.
