MONTY, A. Rene 1918-2005 We sadly announce the death of our father, Rene Monty. He was a resident of Stanstead, Lennoxville and North Hatley, Quebec. He later retired to Ottawa and Key West, Florida. Dad died peacefully in the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Thanksgiving Day at the age of 87. Predeceased by our dear mother, his wife of 59 years, Theresa George Monty, as well as by his sisters Betty and Helen and brother Louis. Eight children: Judy Craig, Jayne Wyatt (John), Joanne Monty (David Clarke), David Monty (Mary), Mary (deceased 1951), Stephen Monty (Nancy Lane), Michael Monty (Jennifer Zaremba) and Lynne Arbuthnot (Tim); and grandchildren: Andrew Craig (Melanie), Jonathan Craig (Patty Nozato); Karen Wyatt (Michael Montgomery), David Wyatt (Angie Grcevic), Kym Wyatt; Mark Chapman (Tara Mani), Matthew Chapman (Danielle Paterson), Christopher Chapman (Kathleen Khazoom); Martha Monty, Jonathan Monty; Jennifer Arbuthnot (Chris Little), Brian Arbuthnot. He will also be missed by Sean, Christian and Ryan Clarke; Christopher Moffat (Laurie), Justin Letham; Matthew Zaremba; and seven dear little great grandsons. Also survived by his sisters-in-law, Helen Shaughnessy and Jean Monty, and brothers-in-law Fergus McNaughton (Marie) and Jack Cunningham. Educated at College Notre Dame, McGill University and the University of Ottawa, Dad returned to law school in 1953 after his studies were interrupted by the War and a growing family. He began practicing law in Sherbrooke, Quebec in 1957 with Rousseau, Gervais, Langlais and Monty, now known as Monty Coulombe. Dad was a Captain in the Canadian Army. He was a long-time and very active member of the Stanstead and Sherbrooke Rotary Clubs. He also taught Business Law at Bishop's University and was involved in numerous businesses in the Eastern Townships. He was a mentor and inspiration to many over the years. A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Patrick's Basilica in Ottawa, 281 Nepean Street, on Saturday, November 5th at 11:00 AM. A Memorial Mass will also be held iat St. Patrick's Church in Sherbrooke, Quebec (corner King and Gordon), on November 19th at 11:00 a.m. Donations will be gratefully accepted at the Palliative Care Department, Ottawa Hospital (Attention: Lynn Kachuik), B5, 1053 Carling Avenue, Ottawa ON K1Y 4E9. SEABERT, Marion (nee Carnegie) (Member Holy Trinity Anglican Church A.C.W.) Passed away peacefully at Marianhill Residence, on Monday, October 10, 2005 at the age of 84 years. She endured a long struggle with Alzheimer's with laughter and endless good spirits. Predeceased by her beloved husband John Seabert and her parents Elsie (nee Ziebarth) and Neil Carnegie. Survived by her loving son Neil Seabert (wife Anne) and daughter Joanne Erdstein, and five cherished grandchildren, Timothy, Christopher (Terri), Angela, Gregory and Michael. DEACON ETTLES, Roy McCulloch -Passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family members at North Bay General Hospital, Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at the age of 77 years. Roy Ettles was the beloved husband of Kathleen (née Kervin) for 50 years and loved father of Stephen (Loma) and Shelley Ricker (Dan). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Nathan and Joel Ricker. Dear brother of Hugh (late Susan) and Robin (Mardie). He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousin Christopher Ettles (Gabriel). Predeceased by his parents, Kathleen and Ian Ettles and two brothers, Colin and Alan (June-surviving). Roy was born in Oshawa, was raised in Toronto and moved to North Bay in 1949. He worked over 20 years with the Province of Ontario; first with the District of Nipissing Social Welfare Board and second with Ministry of Community and Social Services. Roy was ordained a deacon in 1981 and served in Temagami, Bear Island, Sturgeon Falls, Powassan, St. Alphonsus Church in Callander and St. Rita's Church in North Bay. He was in charge of pastoral care at Eastholme Home for the Aged in Powassan for 10 years. He retired from the ministry in 2003. Roy also was a volunteer firefighter (deputy chief) at North Himsworth Fire Department, a member of the founding board of directors for Vita Way Farm and a member of Knights of Columbus. MARION, Donat In loving memory of Donat Marion, 93 years, of Lively, who passed away Wednesday, October 12th, 2005 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. He was born in St. Elizabeth, Manitoba and married Evelyn Bean in 1939. Donat arrived in Sudbury in 1937 and resided in Creighton, where he & his wife Evelyn raised their family and remained for a number of years. Evelyn and Donat were married for 66 years. Donat was a hoistman for 36 years with INCO. Beloved husband of Evelyn (nee Bean) of Lively. CONRON, Stanley Alexander In loving memory of Stanley Alexander Conron, 86 years, who passed away Tuesday evening, October 11th, 2005 at the St. Catharines General Hospital. Born in Allendale, he married Doreen in Capreol, in 1948. Stan was a World War II Veteran, serving overseas for 5 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 71, Fort Erie. Stan worked as a Conductor with the Canadian National Railway for 38 years, retiring in 1978. He was a former member of the Orange Lodge and had served on Capreol Town Council. Beloved husband of Doreen (Sawyer) Conron of Fort Erie. Hilda Arceneaux Jones, 85, went to meet her Lord on September 26, 2005 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born on March 12, 1920 in Leonceville, near Opelousas, La. She had been a resident in the Golden Triangle area for the past 75 years. She enjoyed serving her community as an LVN for 25 years and retired from St. Mary's Hospital in 1985. She was a member of Golden Triangle Church on the Rock. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 42 years, Henry "Eddie" Jones. WINSLOW -- Lucille Emma Bourassa, 82, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with heart disease and cancer.She was born in Winslow on June 26, 1923, a daughter of Donat and Lucy (Dostie) Bourassa. She was educated in Winslow schools and was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in North Vassalboro. Upon her mother's death in 1939, she made the decision at 16 years of age to stay at home and care for the family with her dad. The six youngest children were given much love, care, attention and guidance with her help and those of the oldest brothers and sister. She later finished high school and became a licensed beautician, doing her apprenticeship in her aunt's beauty shop in Waterville.Some of her favorite pastimes were crocheting, needlepoint, oil painting, gardening, listening to music, walking around the track at Colby College with her brothers and friends, and traveling around the coast of Maine was especially to her liking. Lucille was an excellent cook and homemaker. The holidays were celebrated to the fullest and enjoyed by all family members and friends. She was a kind, gentle, religious, loving person. He was born Oct. 11, 1940, in Skowhegan, the son of Lawrence and Evelyn (Bragg) Croteau. He graduated from Skowhegan High School in the class of 1958. Robert served his country in the Air Force and retired from the Army National Guard as a staff sergeant. He worked for 29 years as a custodian for School Administrative District 54. He looked forward to retirement when he could spend more time with his family and friends. Robert was an avid reader who enjoyed camping and loved his dogs. Old Saybrook - Theresa Anne (Sottile) Brodeur, 41, of Old Saybrook, wife of Timothy Francis Brodeur, won her courageous battle with breast cancer and went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005.Born April 14, 1964 in New London, she was the daughter of Anthony and Frances Sottile of Waterford. She graduated from Waterford High School, The University of Connecticut and later earned her MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She began her professional career with the Hartford Steam Boiler Insurance & Inspection Company before dedicating herself to her family and raising her children. As a resident of Old Saybrook for the past eleven years, Terri volunteered in the schools, was a role model as Troop Leader in the Girl Scouts, and was an active parishioner of St. John's Church.Besides her loving husband and parents, Theresa leaves her three children, Ashley Elizabeth, Melanie Rose, and Sean Christopher. She also leaves five siblings, Rosemarie Moskow and her husband, David, Victor Sottile and his wife, Laura, Christopher Sottile and his wife, Coleen, Anthony Sottile Jr. and Michelle Sottile. She was a beloved sister-in-law and adored aunt of twenty-three nieces and nephews. She is also survived by six brothers-in-law and eight sisters-in-law. LEWIS, Jacques P, S.J. 1915 - 2005 À Saint-Jérôme, le 6 octobre 2005, est décédé à l'âge de 90 ans, après 70 ans, de vie religieuse, le P. Jacques Lewis, s.j. Né à Montréal, il fit ses études au Collège Saint-Ignace et entra chez les jésuites en 1935. Ordonné prêtre en 1947, il fut professeur aux Collèges Saint-Ignace et Brébeuf de Montréal, dans les maisons de formation jésuite: Juvénat (grec, latin); Collège de l'Immaculée-Conception (théologie), prédicateur de retraites (Villa Saint-Martin et Notre-Dame-de-Montserrat), collaborateur au Service diocésain de la Bible du diocèse de Saint-Jérôme. Outre ses confrères jésuites, il laisse dans le deuil son frère Raymond (Thérèse Delisle), son beau-frère Marcel Hamelin (feu Marguerite), sa belle-soeur Pauline Voisard (feu Paul), une très grande amie, soeur Noëlla Gagnon, s.n.j.m., neveux et nièces, parents et amis. Son cercueil arrivera à la Maison des Jésuites 175, boul. des Hauteurs, Saint-Jérôme le vendredi 14 octobre à 14 h; il y aura réunion de prières à 20 h. GLOUTNEY, Alvaretta 1911 - 2005 Notre «Tante Al» nous a quittés, le mardi 11 octobre, après 94 ans de vie bien remplie. Cette femme tout a fait unique a su modeler sa vie suivant ses propres certitudes, avec beaucoup d'amour et d'humour. D'une loyauté incontestée, elle croyait fermement en la capacité infinie des gens qu'elle a élevés et couvés. Parents et amis furent toujours les bienvenus en sa maison et en son coeur, pour partager sa grande hospitalité, sa jovialité et son amour des discussions. Elle a beaucoup fait, beaucoup donné, et elle a touché maintes personnes. Son départ nous laisse inconsolables, mais nous tenons à célébrer son exemple et sa vie. Nous l'aimons, notre Tante Al, d'un amour profond et éternel.
