Arthur Richard (1920-2005) l'Acadie Nouvelle - 3 octobre 2005 RICHIBOUCTOU - À l’Hôpital Stella-Maris de Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, le jeudi 29 septembre 2005, à l’âge de 85 ans, est décédé Arthur Richard, époux de feu Françoise (Doiron) Richard, domicilié à Richibouctou. Né à Bedec, il était fils de feu Jacques Richard et de feu Madeline (Bourque) Richard. Il laisse dans le deuil une fille, Jeanne, à la résidence familiale; un fils, Joseph (Paulette) de Saint-Louis-de-Kent; deux petits-enfants: Lynn et Sébastien, ainsi qu’une arrière-petite-fille, Daphnee et plusieurs neveux et nièces. Cinq soeurs: Marie, Laudia, Elise, Emma et Anita, ainsi que trois frères: Joseph, Dozithé et Dolore, l’ont précédé dans la tombe. M. Richard était la dernière personne vivante de sa famille immédiate. Il a servi à l’étranger avec l’Armée canadienne pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. La dépouille mortelle est présentement exposée à la Maison funéraire Thompson de Richibouctou. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague de Richibouctou, le mardi 4 octobre, à 16h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière de l’Aldouane. Heures de visites: le lundi 3 octobre, de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h et le mardi 4 octobre, de 14h jusqu’au départ pour les funérailles. LAKE LINDEN - Paul G. LaMarre, 55, of Lake Linden, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, October 1, 2005. He as born March 27, 1950, a son of Gerard and Margaret (Mills) LaMarre. He attended St. Joseph's School in Lake Linden through the eighth grade and graduated from the JFK Seminary School. He received a bachelor's degree from St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn., and a master's degree from MTU in computer science. He was employed by the White Pine Mine in his college years. He taught high school math for two years in Puerto Rico. He then worked for Chevron in California for 12 years before returning to the Copper Country to work as a computer systems analyst.He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Gerard; a niece, Mary; and a nephew, Benjamin.He is survived by his mother, Margaret "Peggy" M. Rheault; two sisters, Michelle (Andrew) Haapala of Spring Creek Nev. and Katherine (John) Cummings of Lake Ann, Mich.; nieces and nephews, David, Kristopher, Andrea, Melinda, Carrie, Brian, Billy, Amber, Alex, Jennifer, Antonio, Danny, Nicholas, Brittany, Kenny and Noah; grandnieces and nephews, Melissa, Samantha, David, Alec, Kyle, Cody and Steven, along with many other relatives and friends.At the request of the deceased, he will be cremated. FRANKLIN - Helen L. Gilbert, 76, of Victory Drive, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at home, after a period of failing health. She was born in Franklin, the daughter of Lougee and Twila (Morse) LaPage. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Gilbert worked for several years at the Rowell School and the Franklin High School lunch program. She then worked in housekeeping at the Peabody Home and later the Franklin Regional Hospital. Her surviving family includes her husband of 58 years, Arthur L. Gilbert Sr. of Franklin; three sons, Arthur L. Gilbert Jr. of Canterbury, retired Army Sgt. Major James L. Gilbert of Laurel, Md. and Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Frank P. Gilbert of Cheyenne, Wyo.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Tracy of Northfield, and Charles Tracy of Franklin; and two sisters, Marjorie Terreault of Franklin, and Ruth Valley of Laconia. NORWAY -- Edmond J. Bedard, 85, of South Paris died on Saturday evening, Oct. 1, 2005, at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway. He was born in Norway on April 23, 1920, the son of Nazaire and Celinaire Demers Bedard.He attended Norway schools and faithfully served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II, flying 46 bombing missions. Edmond worked as a machinest at Brown Turning Co., and then worked as a television repairman. He was very musically inclined and played with the Richard Felt Orchestra and the Bedard Trio at area nursing homes and granges. On June 21, 1947, he married Irene Abbott; she died on Nov. 16, 2000.Survivors include a son, Peter and his wife, Joan, of Manchester; two granddaughters, Keli Young of Lisbon, and Jennifer Bedard of Charlotte, N.C.; a grandson, Peter J. Bedard of Manchester; a great-granddaughter, Darian Lavoie of Lisbon; and one brother, Emile "Bill" and his wife, Lona, of Norway. Mr. Bedard was predeceased by two brothers, Nazaire and Francis; and a sister, Anna Bedard. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 45 Main St., South Paris, with interment to follow in Riverside Annex Cemetery. Annette B. (Leclerc) Chaput, 90, of Varnum Ave., Lowell and formerly of St. Joseph Dr., Nashua died Wednesday September 28, 2005 at the D’Youville Senior Care Center, Lowell.Mrs. Chaput was born in Lowell, MA on July 30, 1915, a daughter of the late Arthur & Bertha (Auger) Leclerc. She was the widow of Victor B. Chaput who died February 9, 1998. Annette and her husband Victor moved to Nashua in 1935 where they established a local business, Pine Motor Parts and raised their family. Annette was a loving mother and a devout parishioner of St. Louis de Gonzague Church where she sang in the choir. She was a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital for over 25 years. HENNIKER - Gertrude T. (Barker) St. George, 77, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at Concord Hospital. She was born in Somerville, Mass., before moving to Henniker 15 years ago. She was daughter of the late Ireneaus and Theresa (Sullivan) Baker. She was a secretary for Wesley United Methodist Church in Concord for many years before her retirement. She was also a member of the St. Theresa Church in Henniker. Her surviving family includes her husband, Rene M. St. George of Henniker; four sons, Wayne T. Cofrin of Concord, William Cofrin of Lodonderry, Rusty Cofrin of Concord, and Michael Cofrin of York, Maine; one daughter, June Cofrin Bowers of Henniker; and nine grandchildren, Nicole Cofrin, Stephanie Cofrin, Liam Aidan Cofrin, Shawn Cofrin, Bryan Cofrin, Brendan Cofrin, Timothy Cofrin, Ian Gregory and Crystal Cofrin Jennings. Yvonne R. “Bunnie” (Ferguson) Cyr, 82, of Goffstown died October 2, 2005 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born in Manchester on February 1, 1923, she was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Gorey) Ferguson. She was a graduate of West High School and was a lifelong resident of Manchester. She recently moved to Goffstown. Mrs. Cyr worked as a waitress at many Manchester area restaurants. She was a former member of the Hariguari Club and a life member of the Workmans Club. She was also a member of Turner Hall, the Canadian Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She was married to Robert N. Cyr who died in 1995. The family includes five children, Linda L. Larochelle of Manchester, Darlene P. Pigeon of Goffstown, Willam R. Cyr of Hooksett, Daniel P. Cyr of Maine and Bonita J. Carr of Manchester; 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; a brother, Wilfred J. Ferguson of Bedford and nieces and nephews. NEW BEDFORD -- Donald Gibeau, 67, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at home after a long illness. A lifelong resident of New Bedford, he was the son of the late Louis and Margaret R. (Rosa) Gibeau. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church. He was a counselor at the Kennedy-Donovan Center for several years until his illness. An Army veteran, he was a lifelong member of the Cape Verdean-American Veterans Association. Mr. Gibeau enjoyed spending time with his family, his computer and helping others. Survivors include two brothers, Arthur Gibeau and Walter Gibau, both of New Bedford; three sisters, Elsie Gomes, Irene Daniels and June Gomes, all of New Bedford; many nieces and nephews; and several godchildren. He was a brother of the late Rose Gonsalves. His funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. She was the widow of Arthur Cormier. Born in Uniontown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Henry A. McCuen Sr. and Isabel (Goodwin) McCuen. She lived most of her life in New Bedford. She was a supervisory housekeeper for Days Inn for 25 years and previously worked at Acushnet Process Co. in the golf division. Mrs. Cormier was an avid bingo player, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Scott R. Cormier of New Bedford and Mark L. Cormier of Coventry, R.I.; three daughters, Karen G. Cormier and her companion, Michael Davignon, and Erica D. Coleman and her husband, Shawn, both of New Bedford, and Kathy L. Davis and her husband, Michael of Pulaski, Tenn.; three brothers, Ronald McCuen and his wife, Marguerite "Peggy," and Charles W. "Bud" McCuen, all of New Bedford, and Robert L. CONTOOCOOK - Gerald Thomas Jacques , 70, of Highland Ave , died on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, after a prolonged illness. He was born on April 16, 1935 in Berlin, the son of Leo and Frances (Landers) Jacques. Jerry, as his family and friends knew him, was raised in Berlin by his mother and his stepfather, whom he loved so very much, Morris Guay. He served his country during the Korean war with the U.S. Army. Jerry was employed most of his life as a baker at Polly Susan's in Concord, St. Paul's School in Concord and at Dunkin Donuts in Manchester, Nashua, Concord and Berlin, and back to St. Paul's before becoming disabled. He volunteered at the food pantry in Contoocook and worked part time at Reed's Village Store. He had been a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Concord. He loved music. In his younger years, he played the guitar and sang in local clubs around the Concord area. Before his disability, he enjoyed fishing. He loved reading and spending time on the computer. His surviving family includes his wife of 36 years, Gretchen (Schoenfeld) Jacques of Contoocook; one daughter from his first marriage, Kelly Thompson of Virginia; two additional daughters, Rachel Jacques of Pembroke and Aileen Jacques of Concord; two sisters, Bette Mercier and Ann Vashaw, both of Milan; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Gordon and Edward Jacques and Michael Guay, and a sister, Irene Hines. Calling hours will not be held. A memorial service will be held tomorrow, at 10 a.m. at the Concordia Lutheran Church, 211 N. Main St. in Concord, immediately followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a church or to a faith-based organization. WAKEFORD, Clifford (Cliff) On October 1, 2005, in his 89th year, Clifford Wakeford passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his beloved wife of 61 years Vivian (Maheral) and his family. Pre-deceased by parents Almina Victoria Brittain and Herbert Wakeford, his siblings Evelyn (Stanley Hewitt), Hilda (Sam Bye), Marie and Harold (Hazel). He was cherished and loving father to Bryan (Ruth), Donna (John Hill), Dianne (John Rivers) and Brent (Stacy). He will be forever missed by his grandchildren Jason (Leigh-Anne), Theresa (Robert Breton) and Sheryl Rivers, Amanda, Amy and Christina Hill and Daniel and Philip Wakeford. He will be remembered as a caring great-grandfather to Tyler Rivers. Dear and close uncle to Beatrice and Emerson Timm and Virginia and Marcel Proulx. Cliff was raised in the farming community of Thornloe, Ontario where his family farmed and operated the postal service in the area. He was a long-time resident of Ottawa, arriving during the Second World War as a volunteer in the Canadian Army. He served proudly in the Canadian Postal Corps during the war. Upon leaving the army Cliff accepted the opportunity to build a house under the Veterans Land Act in the Carleton Heights area of Ottawa. There, he and Vivian raised their family and participated actively in the community. He was especially active in coaching amateur hockey teams in the Carleton Heights Minor Hockey League for almost two decades. He strongly believed that participation in team sport moulded adolescents into strong and responsible adults. He was also an active volunteer in his local church community of St. Augustine's Parish for many years. After serving over thirty years as an employee in the Department of National Defence, Cliff retired in 1983 and enjoyed a long active retirement. He and Vivian spent many afternoons at the RA Centre perfecting ballroom dancing and assisting with organizing events for the Senior's club. The family would like to thank the many Health Care Professionals who assisted with Cliff's care, treatment and support the past few years particularly Nazmoon Abdool and Loretta Kettles. Grateful thanks extended to Dr. P. David Stewart for his care and to Father Vincent Pereira for his spiritual support. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 2313 Carling Avenue (west of Carlingwood) Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Wednesday to St. Augustine's Church for Mass of Christian Funeral at 11 a.m. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens. She was a holocaust survivor who will be sadly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched. Fils de feu Omer Renaud et de feu Annette Tessier, il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Lucie Dion, ses fils Maxime et Mathieu, ses frères Pierre (Elizabeth Chouinard), Marc (Francine Fournier) et Alain ainsi que sa belle-mère Priscille Poulin (feu Jean-Charles Dion), ses beaux-frères Claude Dion (Andrée Côté) et Gilles Dion (Hélène Drolet), ses neveux, nièces et parents de même que ses nombreux amis et collègues. Blessed (Fontaine) Beatrice L., age 70, passed away peacefully October 1, 2005. Preceded in death by parents, Ewald and Pearl Wurst. Survived by children, Mark (Laurie) Fontaine, Mike Fontaine, Mary Jo Lesser (Mark Miller), Matt (Joni) Fontaine; grandchildren, Jon, Danielle, Tony, Christy and Brett; brother, Donald (Phyllis) Wurst; sisters, Iris Holm, Elaine (James) Bryan, Helen (Gayle) Swanson and Vivian (Wayne) Swanson; also many many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in Christ and friends.
