STRONG, Kenneth Born July 14, 1929 at Perth, Ont. Peacefully in Renfrew Hospital on Friday, September 23, 2005, surrounded by his family, Ken went to be with his Lord and Saviour, whom he dearly loved. A brave and loving man, Ken continued to smile and accept each new day throughout his two year struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Precedeased by his first wife, Willa, beloved father of Genevieve, Donald (Cathy) and Christopher, cherished grandfather to Amy-Lea, Joshua, Kyle and Felicia, adoring great-grandfather to Melanie. Loving and devoted husband of Shirley (Brown), special stepfather to Patricia Stephens-Brown, special grandpa to Matt, Andrew and Samantha. Survived and fondly remembered by his sisters and brothers, he will be missed by many. Special thanks to the nursing staff at RVH in Renfrew, the ALS Society, and the support team at the Rehab Centre. The family will receive friends at the McPhail & Perkins Funeral Home, 85 Munro Ave. at Lorne, Renfrew, on Saturday, October 1st from 12 noon to 2 p.m. A Memorial Service to celebrate Ken's life will follow in the Chapel. HADDAD, Anthony N. Peacefully passed away at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, Friday, September 23, 2005, Anthony "Tony", beloved husband of Mary Vartanian and loving father of Jean and Caroline, dear grandfather of Philippe and Jacques. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers Edmond and his family, and Father Pierre in Cairo, also the families Haddad, Vartanian, Nafekh, Bakhash, Azar, Eisa and many, many friends from his several achievements in Montreal, as an Architectural Engineer, where he lived with his family from 1961 to 1980 when they all moved to Toronto. WILSON, Harold (Harry). 1925-2005. Of Lachute, Quebec, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Hawkesbury General Hospital on September 25, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Harold was the much loved husband of Phyllis (of fifty-seven years) and father to daughters Daintry (Jim) of Ottawa, Rozlyn (George) of Brownsburg, Melanie of Langley, BC, Kathy (Lorne) of Calgary, AB, and son Vance. VASSALBORO -- Jeanette Geraldine Roussel, 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Volmer Country Living Center in Vassalboro.She was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Winslow, the daughter of Paul and Amanda Denis. She was married to Henry Roussel, who died previously. Survivors include a brother, Sylvio, and a sister, Evelyn. Jeanette was a member of the American Legion and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was very proud to be a member of such wonderful organizations.Jeanette was a very special person who loved people. For many years she would spend many hours at the Muskie Center entertaining and making people laugh. Even in the later years at the boarding home she resided at, she would still be entertaining the residents by dressing up in special costumes. She would sing, dance and entertain. Jeanette was kind, caring and fun to be around. She will be deeply missed by her niece, Connie.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Services of Maine.At Jeanette's request there will be no memorial services or visiting hours.A memorial Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church during the regular 8 a.m. Mass on Oct. 9.

EPPING — Roger E. Gauthier, 75, of Bartlett Street, died Sept. 25, 2005, at his home in Epping. A native and lifelong resident of Epping, he was born on Dec. 14, 1929, the son of the late Joseph N. and Hermina (Morin) Gauthier. He graduated from Watson Academy in Epping in 1948, served in the U.S. Army, and worked in the field of construction for many years. For more than 20 years, he was employed as a postal worker in Haverhill, Mass. He loved the town of Epping and was very active in community affairs. He served on the Water and Sewer Commission; the Board of Selectman; the Civic Fact Finders Association; and was a member of the Epping Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, as a Lieutenant. He was also involved in community theater with the Epping Community Church Players, and was instrumental in the building of the Epping Junior and Senior High School. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, and bowling at The Exeter Lanes.He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen (Dow) Gauthier of Epping; two daughters, Linda G. Gauthier of Epping and Lisa A. Gauthier of Savannah, Ga.; three sons, Joseph R. and wife, Sharon Gauthier, of Epping, Edward P. and wife, Terri Gauthier, of Nottingham, and Thomas M. and wife, Kimberly Gauthier Sr., of Epping; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Rita Curtis of Hampton, Irene Talbot of San Antonio, Texas and Lucille Howard of Nottingham; several nieces and nephews; and by his very close friend and golfing partner, Armand O'Barton of Epping. Irene L. (Gagnon) Landry, 95, of Manchester, September 25, 2005, died at Hillsborough County Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Manchester, August 12, 1910, and was the daughter of Lucien and Amanda (Boisseau) Hebert. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester and had summered in Hampton for 75 years. She formerly owned King Bowling Lanes on Mast Rd. for many years. Mrs. Landry was a communicant of Parish of the Transfiguration. She was also a former member of Les Coeurs Joyeux. She was predeceased by her first husband Paul Gagnon, and by her second husband, Herve Landry. Family members include a daughter, Liane Peppin of Merrimack; three sons, Richard Gagnon of Manchester, Paul T. Gagnon and Norman L. Gagnon, both of Goffstown; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. WINDHAM, ME.---Mrs. Adrienne Laroche Verville, 85, formerly of Berlin, NH, passed away Monday July 18th, 2005 at Ledgewood Manor, Windham, Maine, where she had resided for the last several years.She was born in Berlin, NH, on August 2, 1919, the daughter of Arthur and Corinne (Gingras) Laroche. She attended local school and on October 14, 1940 married Ernest Verville at Angel Guardian Church. They lived for several years in Hartford, Ct. and Keeseville, New York. before moving back to Berlin.Adrienne worked many years as a nurse’s aide at the St Louis Hospital in Berlin. She was well liked and respected by her co-workers and patients. Adrienne loved her family and played an active role in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Adrienne is survived by a daughter Janet Wilson and her husband Richard of Gray, Me; Three granddaughters, Michelle Whitmore and husband Michael of Freeport and their children Jessica and Benjamine; Lisa Ross and husband Howard of Gorham, Me and their children Trevor and Kristen, Susan Bogard and her husband Edward of Murfreesboro, Tenn. A son, Robert Verville and his wife Rolande of Errol, NH; one granddaughter Debra Morton and her husband Kurt of Rochester, NH and their son Colby. Also she is survived by three sisters: Mabel Villeneuve, Doris O’Neal of Berlin; and Loretta Gabriel of Hartford, Ct, and a brother Dominique Laroche of Cascade, NH.Her husband Ernest predeceased her in 1976. She was also predeceased by four sisters; Yvonne Peters, Dolores Lemay, Beatrice Villeneuve and Simone Morin Guay, all of Berlin.At the families request there will be no calling hours. Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Joseph L. Liabeuf. LA SALLE, MARY ANN Nov. 8, 1919 - Sept. 11, 2005. Mary Ann La Salle, 85, a Southwest Portland resident, died at home on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, after a 9-month battle with lung cancer. At her request, no funeral service will be held. A military memorial service and burial took place Sept. 16, 2005, at Willamette National Cemetery. Mrs. La Salle was born as Mary Ann Linville on Nov. 8, 1919, in Berkely, Calif. She resided in Berkeley, graduating from Presentation Academy in 1937. She attended Holy Names College in Oakland for three years. In 1944 she was graduated from the School of Nursing at Children's Hospital in San Francisco. She also attended Lone Mountain College. In January 1945 she was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. She was subsequently posted on the island of Leyte in the Philippines and later was amongst the first group of nurses sent to Japan upon the cessation of hostilities. She left military service in 1946. After the war, she lived in the Wenatchee, Wash., area until 1952, when she moved to Portland. She has lived in Portland ever since, with exception of the period 1975-1980 when she resided in the Minneapolis, Minn., area. Mrs. La Salle taught nursing at Portland Community College for 13 years until 1966. She was graduated from the University of Oregon School of Nursing (now Oregon Health and Science University) in nursing education in 1967. From 1967 to 1975 she taught a medical careers program at Adams High School in Portland. Mrs. La Salle was married to Guy E. La Salle of Portland on May 20, 1960, and together they raised a family of four. She has been an active member of the Multnomah Athletic Club since 1958. Survivors are her husband; four sons, Ronald M. Fishback and his wife, Jane Honeyman, of Portland, Bruce L. Fishback and his wife, Mary, of Portland, Clark L. Fishback and his wife, Vanessa, of Longmont, Colo., and Guy N. La Salle and his wife, Michelle, of Naarden Vesting, The Netherlands; eight grandchildren, Harrison, Keith, Gillian, Kirsten, Angelina, Samuel, Maxwell and Brendan; and two great-grandchildren, Kiara and Teagan. Her sister, Delma Linville, preceded her in death by one day. Aimée McDonald (née Saquet) June 22, 1903 - September 24, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Desjardins Funeral Chapel AIMEE McDONALD (NEE SAQUET) Aimée McDonald in born Saint-Etienne de Naucoules, Commune of Saint-Affrique, Aveyron, France, June 22, 1903, has been lovingly recalled by her Creator on September 24, 2005, after having been with us for 102 years. Aimée was predeceased by her beloved husband, Sidney A. McDonald (July 11, 1966), their son Louis François Auguste (April 21, 1950), her father, Auguste Dieudonné Saquet (July 5, 1966), her mother, Marie Célina Eulalie Roger (July 2, 1959), her brothers Léon (June 9, 1994), André (July 31, 1995) and sisters Marie Augusta Lucie (September 19, 1901), Jeanne Félicie Saquet (March 24 1946), Marie Saquet (July 12, 1988) and Lucie Albina (December 23, 1993). She is survived by her daughter, Lucy (Fred), granddaughters Melinda and Dierdre (Trevor) and great grandchildren Kyle, Aimée and Bethany. Also left to mourn her passing is one remaining brother, Louis (Lili) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Aimée immigrated to Canada from France in 1906 with her parents, eldest brother Léon and her Aunt Léonie Roger and Uncle Léopold Roger. The family purchased a farm in the Laurier area. Aimée attended school at Ecole Champlain and was at the Convent in Ste. Rose du Lac for some time. However, Aimée’s help was required at home in the growing family and she was unable to get beyond grade 8. She remained on the farm helping her family for many years. In May 1940 Aimée married Sid and they moved to Woodlands for some time, but soon moved to the Ste. Rose du Lac area. Sid volunteered for duty in WW2 and, while he was overseas, she and son Louis moved back to the Saquet farm. Daughter Lucy was born during that time. Upon Sid’s return they moved back to the Ste. Rose du Lac area where they remained, sometimes in town, sometimes on the farm, until Sid’s death in 1966. During the next few years Aimée spent some time in Montréal and Brandon with her daughter and family but she always returned to Ste. Rose. In 1996 she moved to Winnipeg in order to be closer to her daughter and family. She spent some years at Columbus Manor where she made many friends and celebrated her 100th birthday. She was able to do her own shopping and cooking until she was 96 years old and continued living on her own with the help of wonderful Home Care caregivers until November, 2003 when she moved to Foyer Valade. Aimée was very active in the Ste. Rose du Lac CWL during the 1950’s and part of the 1960’s. Although Aimée left school at an early age, she nurtured her love of knowledge by reading voraciously. She became the first Librarian in Ste. Rose du Lac (the Library opened June 3, 1962) after having spent some time in Winnipeg developing the Library’s collection under the tutelage of Ms. Clémentine Combaz. Throughout her life, Aimée was known for her love of and excellence in gardening, winemaking, pattern making and sewing. In later years she was able to realize her love of nature when invited to go hiking and camping with Lucien and Cécile Lahaie, along with their daughter, Aline. These were probably the happiest years of her life. Special thanks go to the wonderful Home Care workers who made it possible for Aimée to live in her own apartment until late 2003, particularly Annette and Judy. Thanks must also go to the management and residents of Columbus Manor who were very kind to her over the years. Father Henrik Laciak of Our Lady of Victory Church was also very kind to her as were the members of the parish. In her later years, it was necessary to transport her in her wheelchair so a big thank you goes to Roger, her kind and compassionate chauffeur. A special thanks must also go to Father Robert Bernardin whom she has known for many years. He has been constant in his pastoral care and was a very good friend to her. The family extends a warm and heartfelt thank you to Foyer Valade: l’Abbé Prescott, the clients, care givers, cleaning and cooking staff, and administrators for the loving care, respect, and kindness shown Aimée. We all appreciate the compassion of the dedicated people who strove so hard to make her last months as easy as possible. LAVALLIE, Gail Lois Anne (nee Rienguette) In loving memory of Gail Lois Anne Lavallie (nee Rienguette), 63 years of Sudbury who passed away Saturday, September 24th, 2005 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. She was born in Westree and married Wayne Lavallie in 1962 in Sudbury. Gail came to Sudbury at age 8. A devout Roman Catholic she attended Holy Redeemer Church and member of the parish CWL. She enjoyed travelling, playing cards and knitting especially scarves. Gail led by example in how to live life well, she embodied the lesson of love as taught by Jesus. She was a caring shepherd and good samaritan who was unselfish and quick to help others. Gail was devoted to her loving family especially spending time with her precious grandchildren. The strength of her character and capacity to cope with the challenges of her illness inspired all who knew her. She truly was a genuine hero to her loving family and many friends. Gail will be sadly missed but never forgotten as the light of life will be cherished and continue to guide others. Beloved wife of Wayne Lavallie of Sudbury. BERTRAND, Rheal Jean "Ray" In loving memory of Rheal Jean "Ray" Bertrand, 75 years of St. Joseph's Villa who passed away after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease on Saturday, September 24th, 2005 at Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Center. He was born in Sudbury and married Lucille (Simon) in 1950 in Sudbury. A life resident of Sudbury Ray had been a miner at Frood-Stobie Mine having 32 years with INCO retiring 1982. A devout Roman Catholic he belonged to St. Patrick's Parish. In healthier days he enjoyed camping and golfing. Ray will be remembered for his strong work ethic and devotion to his loving family. For the past two years Ray has lived at St. Joseph's Villa where he has received excellent care from their dedicated staff. Beloved husband of Lucille (Simon) Bertrand of Sudbury. GOODDAY, BAYARD R.L;M.C. C.D. COLONEL (RET'D) - 83, Dartmouth, passed away suddenly September 23, 2005 at home. He was born in Bear River to the late Reginald and Dorothy (Bayard) Goodday. Having received his early education at Rothesay Collegiate School, NB, Bayard went on to serve overseas from 1942-1945 as a Lieutenant with the 18th Armored Car Regiment (XII Manitoba Dragoons). He received numerous decorations and service medals including the Canadian Forces Decoration and the Military Cross for Bravery. He was the Commanding Officer for the Princess Louise Frisiliers (PLF) from 1956-1959 and the appointed Honorary Lieutenant Colonel in 1986 and Honorary Colonel in 2004. During his career in commerce, Bayard served as Past President of the Canadian Food Brokers Association, National Director of Packaging Association of Canada and Past President of the Royal United Services Institute of Nova Scotia. Bayard was a past member of the Halifax Board of School Commissioners; Past President of the Family Service Bureau of Halifax; Past District Commissioner Canadian Pony Club and a past member of St. George's Society of Halifax. He was a very active member of Cathedral Church of All Saints. Bayard is survived by his daughter; Barbara Anne McInnis, North Vancouver; son Dr. Reginald (Christine) Goodday, Halifax; sisters, Joan Lugar, Bedford; Betty (Walter) Maitham, Kingston, NB; his dearly loved grandchildren, Melanie, Amy, Victoria and Hugh Goodday, Halifax; Matthew McInnis, North Vancouver; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wonderful wife of 55 years, Edith (Millar) Goodday. The memorial service will be held 11 am, September 28 in Cathedral church of All Saints, Halifax. Elle fut pré-décédée par son époux, Henry. La Célébration Eucharistique a eu lieu vendredi le 23 septembre à 2h00 en l'église Notre Damne des Victoires avec le Père Robert Tremblay comme célébramt. L'incinération est suivit au crématoire Hillcrest. Comme expression de sympathie, les dons à la société d'Alzheimer seraient grandement apprécier.

She was 93.She was born in Lawrence, daughter of the late Donat and Rose (Dubois) Charpentier. She entered the Holy Union Community in 1930.From 1934 to 1967, Sister Cecilia was a teacher in Holy Union High Schools in Pawtucket, R.I., Cambridge, and Lawrence. From 1967 to 1986, she taught piano and organ in Cambridge and Groton.In 1988, she retired at the Holy Union Community in Lowell. Since 1999, Sister Cecilia had been a resident at D'Youville Senior Care.In addition to her Holy Union Sisters, Sister Cecilia is survived by a brother, Albert, residing in Florida; a sister, Terry Gaudette, residing in Florida; and many nieces and nephews. LOWELL -- Beatrice P. (Jutras) Lague, 81, of Lowell, died Saturday evening, Sept. 24, at her home. She was the wife of Normand E. Lague, to whom she was married for 58 years.She was born in Lowell, June 5, 1924, daughter of the late Arthur and Regina (Laforest) Jutras. She graduated from St. Louis Grammar School and Lowell High School.Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Lague was a CNA (nurses aide) at the former St. Joseph's Hospital for 12 years. Previously, she was a cashier for Elm Farm Foods, and was also employed by Lowell Lingerie for several years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing, and making many things for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. According to family members, Mrs. Lague was well noted for her roller skating in her younger years.Besides her husband, she is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Violette and Richard Belanger of Nashua, Janet and Rick Collins of Merrimack, N.H., Jackie and Robert Lynch of Andover, Diane "Gina" Lague of Lowell, and Denise and Ross Cloutier of Haverhill; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Jennifer Lague of Derry, N.H.; 12 grandchildren, Richard, David, Jessica, Melissa, Ryan, Courtney, Allie, Hannah, Christina, Ken, James and Jack; five great-grandchildren.She is also survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Violet and Andrew Ogiba of Dracut, and Theresa Dastous of Chester, N.H.; a brother-in-law, George Murphy of Berlin, N.H.; a sister-in-law, Fern Taylor, residing in Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Spencer, she was the daughter of Hercules and Clara L. (Baril) Lacroix. Mrs. Sugrue was a graduate of David Prouty High School and was a member of St. Mary's Church in Spencer. FITCHBURG -- Veronica M. (Paradis) Lamy, 87, of Fitchburg, died Saturday, Sept. 24, in Birchwood Care Center, after a brief illness. She was born on Sept. 11, 1918, in Fitchburg, the youngest daughter of Hildredge and Regina (Archambault) Lamy and lived most of her life in Fitchburg. She and her husband Gerard had lived in Indian Harbor Beach, FLA for 1972 until 1992 where they enjoyed their retirement years.Mrs. Lamy had been a stitcher for the former Cluet &Peabody retiring several years ago. She had been an avid Whist player at St. Francis of Assisi Church and won the highest scoring award in 2004.Mrs. Lamy was a long-time member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and also attended St. Camillus de Lellis both in Fitchburg.She was also a former member of The American Legion Auxiliary Cleghorn Post 429.Mrs. Lamy leaves her son, Robert L. and his wife Cora Lamy of Fitchburg; his daughter, Joan R. and her husband Eric Neihaus of Lunenburg; four grandchildren, Kristina Carbone of Townsend, Michael Neihaus of Newton, Melissa and Curtis Lamy of Fitchburg; two great-grandchildren, Seneca and Maya Neihaus; and several nephews and nieces. Her husband of 54 years, Gerard L. “Jerry” Lamy, died in June of 1995.
