NEW BEDFORD -- Raymond J. "Ray" Marchand, 79, of Fairhaven died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Theresa G. (Afthemeades) Marchand. They were married more than 56 years. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Delisca "Sam" and Lena (Soulier) Marchand. He lived in Fairhaven for the past 56 years and was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. He worked as a pipe fitter for Brandt Jordan Construction for several years until illness forced him to retire in 1974. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a coxswain aboard the USS LCI 687 (Landing Craft Infantry) and was awarded the Navy Combat Ribbon, the World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with one star, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal and a Commanding Officer's Commendation with one star for action against squadrons of Japanese Kamikaze aircraft numbering more than 60. He was a 55-year member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, a member of the USS Landing Craft Infantry Association, the American-Canadian Association, St. Anthony's Senior Citizen's Club and the Disabled American Veterans, who presented him with a Bronze Leader Citation from the Commanders Club. Survivors include his widow; four daughters, Joyce J. Couture and her husband, Paul, of North Dartmouth, Janet P. Leshyk and her husband, Nicholas, of Fairhaven, Linda T. Marchand of New Bedford and Susan C. Medeiros of Lakeville; three sisters, Jeannette Deschenes and Edna Jenkins, both of New Bedford and Rita Perkins of Ohio; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Doris Loiselle, Beatrice Berube and Lionel Marchand. His funeral will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday, from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Spring Street, Fairhaven. Burial will be in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven.

DUBOIS, VICTORIA JEAN (Browne) July 31, 1971 to July 16, 2005 Victoria (Vicky) was born in Chula Vista to Robert and Catherine Browne. While growing up in San Diego, Vicky attended St. Pius the X Church/School in Chula Vista, Mount Miguel High School in Spring Valley and St. John of the Cross Church in Lemon Grove. She was very active in sports, cheerleading and the theater. She moved to Florida and married Tony Dubois. She became the proud mother of Anthony (7) and Hunter (3). It was for her boys that she fought so courageously when diagnosed with breat cancer in November '04. She lost this battle on July 16, 2005 in Boca Raton, Florida. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at St. John of the Cross Church in Lemon Grove. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dubois Family Fund. Kenneth F. Gregoire, of Auburn, WA died August 30, 2005 at St. Josephs Hospital in Tacoma, WA. Kenny Gregoire was born July 15, 1943 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Alphonse and Lillian (Spicer) Gregoire. He attended St. Michael's School and St. James High School in Grand Forks. He married Alicia Carrillo, February 23, 1963 in East Grand Forks, MN. Kenny lived in Seattle for 32 years and was employed at Charlies Produce. He is survived by his son Tim (Becky) Gregoire of East Grand Forks and daughter Tammi (Sean) Finlay of Federal Way, WA. Grandchildren Melissa Finlay, Keely and Brandon Gregoire. FAIRHAVEN -- Pamphile "Phil" Letourneau, 73, of Fairhaven, formerly of New Bedford, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at Our Lady's Haven after a long illness. He was the widower of Claire (Roy) Letourneau. Born in Ste. Hilaire de Dorset, Quebec, he was the son of the late Joseph and Roseanna (Cloutier) Letourneau. He lived in New Bedford most of his life and was a communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. He was the owner of Letourneau Corp., which was a land-clearing contractor and was proud of the fact he was a lumberjack. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Stang Council and Club Richelieu. Mr. Letourneau was a hard-working individual. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed the maple sugar plantations. Survivors include a son, Robert Letourneau and his wife, Valerie, of Tiverton, R.I.; three brothers, Albeni Letourneau of New Hampshire, Real Letourneau of Taunton and Emilien Letourneau of Mashpee; four sisters, Fernande LaCroix, Ida Bureau, and Marthe Carrier, all of Quebec, and Helene Provost of Montreal; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Adrien Letourneau, Florian Letourneau and Leanne "Lillian" Filion. His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. Rachel Marie Jeanine Raffard February 07, 1987 - September 08, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Desjardins Funeral Chapel It is with deepest, heartfelt sadness that the family announces the passing of Rachel Raffard and her unborn child, on Thursday, September 8, 2005. Following a tragic accident, Rachel passed away with her family by her bedside at Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 18 years. Rachel was born and raised on the family farm in Otterburne, MB and received her education in St Pierre, MB. She was currently working at Granny's Poultry. Rachel's family and friends were so very important to her throughout her life, her free time being devoted to those she cared so much about. Left to cherish Rachel’s memory are her: daughter Chelsey, parents Denis & Lorena (Thornton) Raffard, brothers and sisters: Paul, Stéphanie, Justin and Colleen; boyfriend, Johnny Giesbrecht; grandmother Yvonne (Grandmont) Raffard; aunts and uncles Dolores (Gilbert) Carrière, Lorraine (Bob) Cauthers, Evelyne (Pierre) Beaudoin, Marc (Eleonora) Raffard, Jeanine (Adrian) Bernard, Michel (Mary Lou) Raffard; many cousins, relatives and loving friends. A special thanks to the staff at Health Sciences Centre for the special care given to Rachel as well as to Fathers Guy Lavallée and Marcel Carrière for their support and compassion. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, September 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Viateur Roman Catholic Church in Otterburne, MB followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 2 p.m. officiated by Fr. Guy Lavallée. Pall bearers will be Paul, Justin and Alec Raffard, Josué and Damien Beaudoin and Christopher Cauthers. Internment of the ashes will follow at a later date during a private ceremony at the Otterburne Catholic cemetery. Rachel’s request for organ donation has been fulfilled. Agnes Marks, 90, East Grand Forks, Minnesota died Thursday, September 8, 2005 at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, North Dakota. Agnes R. Marks was born on July 3, 1915 in Oklee, Minnesota, the daughter of Phil and Permelia Riendeau, where she resided until her marriage to Julius Marks on November 5, 1936. They moved to East Grand Forks, Minnesota, where she has been a residence since. Agnes was a God-fearing woman and an active member of Jehovah's Witness for over 40 years. She was an independent, young thinking Senior that knew exactly what she wanted. Agnes loved to dress up, and had a great sense of style. There was no replacement, she was a class act. Surviving family members of Agnes include her daughter Betty (Richel) Torgerson of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, one son; William (Bill) Marks of Westminster, Colorado, two grandchildren; Heidi Casler and Jeff Torgerson, two great grandchildren; Linsey and Ethan Torgerson. ORLANDO, Fla. - Andrew "Andy" Rodrigue, 62, a loving and supportive husband, father, brother, pepere and friend, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 15, at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, embraced by his wife and two daughters after suffering a third stroke in just eight days.Formerly of Lewiston, he was born, July 10, 1943, the only son of Emile and Blanch (Hebert) Rodrigue.He remained a longtime local resident, working with his father in family businesses including Property and Building Maintenance, Rodrigue's Furniture and Appliance Store on Lisbon Street, and Rodrigue's Upholstery and Manufacturing on Bartlett Street until their closing in 1980, when he became employed by the W.S. Libby Co.He was involved in the Manpower Development Training Application for the state of Maine teaching teens, retired military and prisoners the upholstery trade.He also taught upholstery for 16 years for the adult education programs at both Lewiston High School and Gray-New Gloucester High School.In 1990, he relocated to Florida, where he enjoyed both the pace of life and the weather, along with his job of 14 years. Just months before his passing, he fulfilled a longtime dream when he opened the first of what he hoped would be a chain of hot dog stands, called Bow Wows etc.He enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycle rides, Sunday drives, handy work, naps, helping others and his African gray parrot, Lucy.He is survived by his wife, Michelle Meunier, of Apopka, Fla.; two daughters, Kelly Thibault and husband, Glen, of Lewiston, Andrea Rodrigue and husband R. Scott Patterson, stationed at Ft. LAWRENCE -- John M. Belanger, 49, a lifelong resident of South Lawrence, who was a carpenter for several years and an active sportsman, died Friday, Sept. 9, at the family residence, surrounded by his family who have cared for him for the last four months, following a courageous battle with cancer.He was born in Methuen, son of Henry J. and Hazel (Collins) Belanger of Lawrence. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in Lawrence in 1973, and was awarded his degree in political science from Merrimack College in North Andover in 1977. A lifelong resident of South Lawrence, Mr. Belanger attended Saint Patrick Church.For several years, Mr. Belanger had been employed as a carpenter with Local Union #111.According to his family, he was a former member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Pelham Rod and Gun Club, a lifetime member of the NRA, and simply put was the consummate sportsman.He also enjoyed the companionship of his dog, Jake.Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Patricia Jarrell of Derry, N.H., and Linda Wasylak and Stephen F. She was a former president of the Patronesses of St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, and a member of the Woman's Hospital Association of Central Maine Medical Center. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Lewiston, and a former member of the Lewiston-Auburn Art Literature Club.She enjoyed traveling, music, arts, theater, sewing and knitting, playing cards, but most of all, spending time with her family. She is survived by a son, Paul B. Cronin of St. Simons Island, Ga.; and a stepson, Joseph S. Cronin of Lewiston; a granddaughter, Patricia C. Spellman of Auburn; and three grandsons, John E. EVANGELOS A. HADJIS 1938 - 2005 Passed away on September 10, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. His loss is deeply mourned by his wife Paraskevi (Demakos), his children Calliope (Zachary Elias), Demetre, and Alexi; his brothers Leonidas (Mary) and Efthimios (Dina), sisters Vassiliki and Maria, sisters-in-law Harikleia and Eli, cousins, nieces and nephews; colleagues and friends. Since coming to Canada in 1955 from Homori, Nafpaktias, Greece, Evangelos secured for his family, both immediate and extended, a prosperous and secure future. He was both a mentor and a protector. A member of the Bar of Quebec, Evangelos distinguished himself as a lawyer. He was widely respected by his colleagues in the legal community, yielding great influence through his keen sense of justice, power of negotiation, and generosity of spirit. Ever mindful of his roots, Evangelos served his fellow Greeks of Montreal and their various organizations for over forty years with dedication, humility, and magnanimity. He was recognized as a leader and a pillar of strength by one and all. No less genuine was his pride in being a Canadian; this he exemplified by both word and deed in moments of national debate. May his memory be everlasting. Domingue, Fernand (Ferdinand) Michael -- Ferdinand was born on November 16, 1917, to Anna and Fernand Domingue in New Orleans, LA. A veteran of World War II, in May of 1947 he married Marie Smith Hopkins, a widow and mother of Jewel Frances, Andrew Joseph and Milton Stewart. To Ferdinand and Marie were born Ferdinand Michael, Jr., Lolita Maria and Celia Anne. To all six he was known as "Dad". In 1981 Ferdinand retired from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power as a switchboard operator after 21 years of service. Ferdinand passed away on Monday September 5, 2005. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie and son, Andrew, and is survived by their five remaining children. He leaves a legacy of 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He also leaves behind two sisters, Carmen and Lelia and many other extended family members. Services will be held at Holy Cross Mortuary at 5835 W. Slauson Ave., Culver City, CA 90230. Visitation will be held on Monday evening Sept. 12, 2005 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm and funeral services will be held at Holy Cross Chapel on Tuesday morning, Sept. 13, 2005 at 9:00 am. Repast will immediately follow. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1955 and there their youngest, Ferdinand was a devoted husband, provider and father. He enjoyed classical and jazz music and could have been considered a bit of a Renaissance man: he loved to repair electronic devices, refinish cabinetry, maintain automobiles and even trim his children's hair! HAMPDEN, Mass. -- Alicia S. Desrosier 1941-2005. Alicia M. (nee Scully) Desrosier, of Hampden, Mass. and West Wardsboro, Vt., passed away on September 9, 2005 after a brief illness. Alicia was born in New Britain, Conn. and was a graduate of Kenwood Academy in Albany, N.Y. and received her bachelor's degree from Emmanuel College, Boston, Mass. She was a teacher in the Wilbraham and Monson Schools before joining her husband in his warehousing business in Monson, Mass. Most recently, Alicia was the assistant postmistress of West Wardsboro, Vt. and an ambassador at Mount Snow Ski Resort. She was the eldest daughter of the late Dr. Roger T. and Mary Alice (nee Mangan) Scully.
