TOBIN, BETTY DOREEN (1920 - 2005) - The death of Betty Doreen (Vizard) Tobin, wife of the late Thomas Tobin of Woodstock, NB occurred Thursday, September 8 at the Carleton Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. Born in Wales, Betty was the daughter of the late Alfred and Gwendoline (Lloyd) Vizard. Betty is survived by her daughter Patricia Sweet (Herbert), Saint John, NB; son Lewis, Woodstock, NB; two grandchildren; sisters Cecilia O'Leary of Woodstock, NB, Olwen Conners, Wales; several nieces and nephews. Betty is predeceased by her husband, parents, a sister Madeline and grandson Ivan. Visitation will be held from the Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville on Saturday 7-9PM and Sunday 2-4PM and 7-9PM. Mrs. Bertha Mae Smith (née Seymour) March 12, 1927 - September 09, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) SMITH (Seymour), Bertha Mae "Beth" - March 12, 1927 - September 9, 2005. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear mother and grandmother on September 9, 2005, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, due to a stroke. A daughter of the late Arthur and Elsie (Barry) Seymour, Beth grew up in Windsor and graduated from the Nova Scotia Teacher's College in Truro in 1941, going on to teach in several small towns near Truro, where she met her future husband, Ottis. They married in July 1948 and were transferred to Halifax in 1951, settling in Fairview with their son. In 1955, they and several young families started the Co-op Street, St. Andrews Avenue, where they remained and raised their family for 50 years. Beth was a seamstress and specialized in wedding dresses, which she created for many years from her home. She worked in sales at Eaton's, Sears, and James' House of Fine China until her retirement in 1992. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and traveling with Ottis and family in the Kingfisher Kamper Trailer Group and to their park model in Bridgewater. She was a very loving mother and wife and cared for Ottis for six years after his stroke in 1997, until his death in September 2003. Beth was a very active member of Bayers Road United Baptist Church, in the choir, Ladies Auxiliary, IODE, and seniors clubs at Bayers Road United Baptist Church, The Salvation Army, and the School for the Blind, and was renowned for her sweets and squares wherever she went. She adored her grandchildren and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Beth continued to be active despite many health concerns, including coronary bypass in 1998, until a week before her death. She will be deeply missed by her sons, Wayne, Halifax; Gregory (Kathy), Shinimescas Bridge; daughter, Cheryl (Lorne), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Ben, Gemma, John, Adam, Jamie and Patricia Smith, Rebecca, Amanda, Corinne Carpenter; sister, Evelyn Sakins; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Thelma Lyons. She will be missed by her faithful dog, Kirby. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Monday in Bayers Road United Baptist Church, Rev. Leslie McCurdy officiating. Burial to be held in Fairview Cemetery with a reception to follow in the church hall. Albert William Reid Albert William Reid, World War II veteran of the Sicily campaign died suddenly at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in his 90th year. With mixed emotions, the family of William Reid announces his passing on September 7, 2005. The sadness of our loss is tempered by the knowledge that his suffering has ended. He leaves behind beloved wife of fifty two years, Dorothy. Loving father to sons, William and Douglas, daughter Sandra, and son-in-law, Louis. Proud grandfather of Lauren, Joseph and Lindsay. He was predeceased by his brother, John M. Reid of Moncton and his cousin, Bill Palmer of Fredericton. Bill was born in Newcastle, NB, raised in Moncton and lived most of his adult life in Toronto. During his fifteen years with the Toronto Historical Board his knowledge and military experience proved invaluable with his work training the Fort York Guard. His final days were spent at his cottage on Lake Simcoe surrounded by family and his beloved little dog Cinderella. Philippe LeBlanc MEMRAMCOOK, NB - Philippe LeBlanc of Foyer St-Thomas (formerly of College Bridge) passed away at his residence on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at the age of 96. Born in College Bridge, he was the son of the late Edouard LeBlanc and the late Adeline LeBlanc. He worked at the family farm until his retirement. He is survived by his daughter, Bernadette (Francis) LeBlanc of Covintory, Conn and his son, Alyre (Bernice) LeBlanc of College Bridge; seven grandchildren, Jean-Paul, George, Shirley, Roger, Caroline, Yves, Paula; seven great grandchildren, Kelly, Kristen, Amy, Christopher, Melissa, David, Pierre-Luc and by several nieces and nephews. DUBUC BÉDARD, Mme Gertrude Au Centre Hospitalier de Granby, le 31 août 2005, à l'âge de 78 ans, est décédée Mme Gertrude Bédard, née Dubuc, épouse de M. Claude Bédard, demeurant à Granby. La défunte laisse dans le deuil outre son époux Claude, ses enfants tendrement choyés: Josiane (l'Honorable Juge Jacques Dufresne), Patrice (Michèle Dubois), ses petites-filles chéries Marie-Ève et Pascale. Elle était la soeur de feu Sylvette, Germaine, feu Béatrice, Irano, Fernande, feu Lionel, Roméo, Lorraine, Robert. Elle laisse également dans le deuil plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-soeurs, neveux, nièces, autres parents et ami(e)s, dont ses deux grandes amies Claire Dumont et Mariette Rendack. She is pre-deceased by her mother Li-lian Aiken and her father Willis (Bob) Willey. Dixon, Carter John Carter John Dixon, beloved son of Jesse and Andrea Dixon (Hull) and little brother to Daphne, left us on Wednesday, September 7th at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie. Carter John was born on July 13, 2005 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto and fought a valiant fight with the tremendous support of all of the cardiac staff at Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto. Carter left Hospital and was only with us for only a few short weeks before his fight ended, but in that time he created a legacy of respect for his strength and the great love of the entire family for a beautiful baby boy. ROY, Léandre In loving memory of Léandre Roy, known to his friends as "Shorty Roy" who passed away in Sudbury, August 30, 2005 at the age of 67 years. Blanche L. Ferron, 84, Cape Coral, and formerly of Bradenton, died Sept. 7, 2005.She was born Dec. 21, 1920, in Lowell, Mass., and came to Bradenton in 1974 from Dracut, Mass. FITCHBURG -- Beatrice M. Coupal, 89, of Fitchburg, died Thursday morning in HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster after an illness.She was born on Jan. 21, 1916, in Fitchburg, the daughter of Fred and Lodia Morin and had lived in Ayer, Waltham and Groton before coming to Fitchburg, where she has lived for many years. Mrs. Coupal was a cutter for the former Bay State Curtain and New England Curtain and retired in 1948. She was a member of the Emblem Club #343 in Fitchburg for 20 years and was also a member of the American Friendship Club for five years. She was an animal lover, particularly birds, and was a huge fan of country and western music and Channel 66. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.She is survived by her son, William J. Canada, Jr., of Gardner; her three daughters, Barbara Belote and her husband, Charles, of Yorktown, Va., Marie Wesley and her husband, Allen, of Fitchburg, and Patricia Friend and her husband, Terry, also of Fitchburg; a sister, Doris McDonald of Fitchburg; five grandchildren, Mary Miller, Julie Friend, Timothy Friend, Shawn Belote and Nicolas Belote; great grandchildren, MIchael Merka, Jacob Merka, Morgan Ashley Merka, Page Ashley Miller and Patrick Belote; and several nephews and nieces. She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Arthur Guy, her second husband, William J. TAUNTON -- Edward Gilbert Ouellette, 73, of East Freetown died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at Morton Hospital in Taunton after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Joan (Weeks) Ouellette. They were married 52 years. Born in Middleboro, he was the son of the late Edward and Edna (Ouellette) Ouellette. He lived in Freetown for the past 40 years. He was educated in the Middleboro School System. He was a Korean War Navy veteran, serving as gunner's mate. He served aboard the USS Lloyd Thomas. He worked as a corrections officer at Bridgewater Correctional Department for 30 years until he retired. He was a member of the Plymouth County Police Officers Association. In his leisure time he enjoyed traveling, gardening, being with his dog, Girl, and most of all spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his widow; two sons, Mark E. Ouellette and his wife, Norma, of Cornville, Maine and Edward G. Ouellette Jr., and his wife, Ellen, of Fairhaven; two daughters, Deborah A. Sykes and her husband, Steven, of Connecticut and Mary A. Dwyer and her husband, Edward, of Freetown; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at White's Cemetery, Keene Road in East Freetown. Harold Pelletier, 86, of East Hartford, loving husband of Madelyn (Daigle) Pelletier, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday (September 6, 2005) after a period of failing health while vacationing in Maine. Born in Fort Kent, ME. A son of the late Levite and Mary (Soucy) Pelletier, he had resided in East Hartford for the past 55 years. He was a faithful and dedicated communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford where he was a Greeter, a Chairman of the Ushers/Collectors, and a member of their Retirees Club. He was a 66-year member of the Knights of Columbus, Rev. John A. Fleming Council #2533 of Glastonbury where he was a former District Deputy and the Past Grand Knight Emeritus of the Council #2533. He was also a 61-year member of the Bishop McMahon Assembly #105 of Hartford County-Fourth Degree for who he was a former comptroller. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 30 years by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford retiring as a foreman in the Materials Dept. After retiring from Pratt & Whitney he went to work as a Travel Tour Escort at Arrow Bus Co., East Hartford for 20 years. Harold enjoyed being around many people, following the UCONN Basketball teams, but most of all traveling around the country with his beloved wife of 56 years. Besides his wife of East Hartford, Harold is survived by a daughter, Gayle Stevens and her husband, Gary, of Millinocket, ME; a sister, Viola Paridis of DeLand, FL; a sister-in-law, Gloria Nadeau and her husband, Ron, of Dexter, ME; his special grandson, Ryan Stevens and his friend, Tammi Pearson, of Brewer, ME; his adored great-grandson, Jacob Stevens of Brewer, ME; several nieces, nephews, and close dear friends. Annette (Simon) Krupa, 82, of Meriden, wife of Henry J. Krupa Sr., died on Thursday morning, (September 8, 2005), at MidState Medical Center after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Born in Meriden on March 31, 1923, the daughter of the late George and Louise Dessereau Simon, she had resided in Meriden for her entire life. She attended local schools and graduated with honors from Meriden High School, Class of 1941. She was a former parishioner of St. Laurent and St. Stanislaus Churches. She was a member of the Sunshine Club of St. Stanislaus Church and enjoyed the many trips that she experienced with her friends in the club. Annette was a loving and gentle soul. She had a kind and friendly smile for all who came to know her. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who carried her crosses with a beautiful, quiet and peaceful resignation to the will of God. Besides her husband of 55 years, she is survived by two daughters, Carol Therese Krupa of Ashford and Ann M. Cunningham of Appleton, WI who recently relocated to Meriden to be with her family; two sons, Henry J. Krupa Jr., and Thomas G. and his wife, Carol A. (Pivonka) Krupa of Ashford; a grandson, Jeffrey Krupa and a step-grandson, Nelson J. Boutot Jr. both of Ashford; a sister, Irene Mack of Meriden; three sisters-in-law, Lucy Nursick of Meriden, Cecelia Docar of Southington, and Marie Simon of California; three special friends, Carlisa Caro, Jennie Cerrone, and Sr. Marian Slezak of the Sisters of Mercy; also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Pearl and Mirel Girard of Meriden, and a brother, Charles "Pete" Simon of Meriden. The funeral will be held on Monday, September 12, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church.
