LEWISTON - Jean M. Bellemare, 81, of 12 Dee St., Auburn, died Sunday, Sept. 4, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a three-day stay.Born in Auburn on March 5, 1924, a son of Joseph and Marie Metivier Bellemare, he was educated in Auburn schools and attended Edward Little High School.He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, with the rank of sergeant. He participated in action on Marshall Islands, Saipan, Marianas Island and on Iwo Jima, Volcano Island, for which he was awarded the Silver Star Medal for gallantry in action against the enemy.He was employed at BNAS in Brunswick with U.S. Civil Services. He was a charter member of American Legion Post 153, New Auburn, life member of DAV Emilien Hamann Chapter and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Workers.He was a member of the Auburn Catholic community at St. Louis Church.He was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed many years of attending his son's softball games.He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Theresa Mastroluca Bellemare, of Auburn, formerly of Portland; a daughter, Debra Duperey and husband, Michael, of Turner; a son, Michael S. Bellemare and his fiancee, Ann Fontaine, of Auburn; two granddaughters, Laurie Barry and husband, Joseph, of Turner, and Jodi Bellemare and fiance, Brad Robichaud, of Lewiston; a step-granddaughter, Natasha Moore and her husband, Kevin, of Poland; one great-grandson, Michael Barry of Turner; two step-great-grandchildren, Sage and Hunter Moore; a sister, Antoinette Pelletier of Lewiston; and many nieces, nephews and very dear friends.He was predeceased by five sisters and five brothers.

COTEAU -- Services for Mrs. Joseph Romero, the former Irene Touchet, 81, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with the Rev. Barry Crochet officiating. A native of Iberia Parish and a resident of Coteau, Mrs. Romero died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Dauterive Hospital.Mrs. Romero was a very hard working woman that loved animals and enjoyed listening to French music and spending time with people. She retired form Bruce Foods Corporation as a canner for over 18 years of service.She is survived by her four sons, Patrick Romero and wife Sharon, Dalton Romero Sr. and wife Beatrice, L.J. Romero and wife Analine all of Coteau, and Chester Romero and wife Julie of New Iberia; two daughters, Judy R. MARION E. JOYAL NEWPORT — Marion E. Joyal, 99, of Newport passed away in Newport on Monday, Sept. 5, 2005. She was born in Newport on Nov. 28, 1905, the daughter of Leon and Carrie (Currier) Tatro. Ethel Mae Vieau, 85, of Duluth, died Sept. 5, 2005 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Duluth on Dec. 21, 1919, the youngest child of James and Ethel Mae Swanson. She was a 1938 graduate of Denfeld High School. Ethel Mae married Walter 'Bud' Vieau in Duluth in Sept. 1938 and the couple raised six children. She was a homemaker who loved her home and family and was a true animal lover. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Jim; daughter, Bette; and was the last surviving sibling in her family. Ethel Mae is survived by sons, Mark (Sheryl), Roland (Sherri); daughters, Cheryl Van Dell and Wendy (Russell, Sr.) Marshall, all of Duluth; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Trixie. Edward G. Gagne, 63, of Nokomis, Fla., died Aug. 30, 2005, at Venice Regional Hospital, Venice, Fla. He was born in Derry, where he grew up and attended school. He was a resident of Florida for the past five years. Mr. Gagne worked as a machinist for more than 15 years for Teledyne in Hudson. He enjoyed super-modified racing, NASCAR, hunting and bowling. He was predeceased by his parents, Glover "Peanut" and Eleanor (Warren) Gagne; and a brother, Robert Gagne. CHELMSFORD -- Martha C. Lanteigne, 76, a resident of North Chelmsford, died Sunday evening, Sept. 4, at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the wife of Ernest "Nick" N. Lanteigne, to whom she was married for 44 years.She was born in Lincoln, Maine on Sept. 2, 1929, daughter of Mary A. (Michaud) D'Autiuel of Lawrence and the late Anthony Marchese. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1937.In her early years, Mrs. Lanteigne was employed with Western Electric in Lawrence. Before retiring in 1997, she had worked at Raytheon in Andover for 24 years.She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in North Chelmsford.She enjoyed going to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, and playing bingo at the Kiwanis Club in Hudson, N.H. She also enjoyed bowling, fishing and gardening.Besides her husband and mother, survivors include two daughters, Diane Allen-Schlott of Hampton, N.H., and Robin Lanteigne and her companion, William Manganaro, of Moriches, N.Y.; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Shannon Allen of San Angelo, Texas; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Gene St. Cyr of Azle, Texas, Janet and Richard Beaudoin of Palm City, Fla., and Marilyn and George Beardsley of Bethlehem, N.H.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.She was also the mother-in-law of Kurtrick Schlott, who died in September 2001. He was awarded the dignity of Serving Br other to the Order of St. John of Jerusalem in 1977. He was a life long member of the St. Catharines Club and Golf Club. A member of Perfection Lodge No. 616 for more than 60 years. A longtime supporter of amateur and minor sport in the community. Ernest M. Tremblay, 62, of Pittsburg died September 4, 2005 at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook after a brief illness. Born in Manchester on August 18, 1943, he was the son of Ernest H. and Yvonne (Gentes) Tremblay. He lived in Bedford for 10 years and in Deerfield for 22 years before moving to Pittsburg in 1998. He served in the New Hampshire Army National Guard and was activated during the Berlin Crisis. Mr. Tremblay was a construction supervisor with Bell Atlantic where he had worked for 30 years. He had also worked as a police officer with the Bedford Police Department for two years. He had served as a Cub Scout Master for Troop 5 in Bedford for two years and later served as a Eucharistic Minister. The family includes his wife, Elaine M. (Remillard) Tremblay of Pittsburg; three sons, Brian W. Tremblay of Goffstown, Keith E. Tremblay of Pittsburg and Neil A. Tremblay of Merrimack; three grandchildren; four sisters, Sr. Pauline Tremblay, CSC of Bradenton, FL, Sr. Cecile Tremblay, CSC of Harrisville and Doris Simard and Therese Turner both of Florida; a brother, Marcel Tremblay of Lewiston, ME; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. CHICOPEE - Armand J. Como, 82, of The Arbours, died September 5, 2005 with his family by his side. Born in Chicopee, June 30, 1923 he was the son of the late George and Maria (Provost) Como. He moved to South Hadley in 1960 and lived there until 1978, relocating to Palm Bay, FL and eventually returned to his native Chicopee in 1995. He was a proud Veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corp 305th Bomb Group H. He received many decorations and citations including the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters. Returning from the war he worked at the Springfield Armory for 18 years and at Westover as a Transit Attendant for 15 years retiring in 1978. He was a longtime communicant of St. Theresa's Church in S. Hadley and a 10 year member of the Palm Bay Florida Lions Club. He enjoyed bowling, the beach and traveling. He was a square dance advisor, and also an instructor at Falls Driving School and a very active member in his retirement community in Florida. He was predeceased by his wife Claire (Rivest) Como in 2004. He will be sadly missed by his five children, William J. Como of Gilbert, S. Carolina, James L. Como and Joan M. Wojnarowski both of South Hadley, Edward A. Como of Chicopee and Linda C. Huard of Chicopee, along with his eight precious grandchildren and his two great grandchildren. He also leaves his brother Leo of Chicopee. He was predeceased by his two brothers Arthur and George. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St, (Rte 116). LEONARD ARTHUR HICKEY Leonard A. Hickey passed peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005 at the age of 61 in Riverside, Rhode Island. Leonard, the third child of the late Joseph and Louise (nee Barrett) Hickey, was born in Fort Frances, ON, on January 1, 1944. He was employed as a postal worker in the Main Office in Providence since 1980. Len had been the coordinator of the East Bay Community Bike Path and was a graduate of the Citizens Police Academy. He was a retired hockey referee for the A House RI Youth Hockey League, enjoyed playing cribbage and spending time in his workshop. He served as a Captain in the US Army in Vietnam and was a member of Post 10 American Legion in Riverside. He married Donna (Ford) Hickey on October 22, 1966. Leonard leaves to mourn his wife and his two daughters, Diane Gagne (Scott Turner) Plainville MA, Denise (George Roch) Riverside RI. and granddaughter Morgan Rocha. He is also survived by his brother Edwin Hickey of Toronto ON and one sister, Edna Lambert (Gerald) of Fort Frances, ON, plus many special nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Saturday, August 20, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Riverside Congregational Church, Riverside RI. Sympathies can be relayed at www.projo.com A simple man, a kind man, funny one too, My Dad was all this and more, to all that he knew. His off-beat sense of humour, he liked to express on-line, “Got another good one from your Dad, today,” I’ve heard more than one time. He enjoyed using the net, keeping in touch with his buddy list, Until, “that fool-thing” would break, then he’d call up us kids. “Come over for dinner” he’d call and he’d say, “Ya got a minute . . . let me show you this to you real quick . . . it’s been doing it all day.” “I don’t know what I pressed, it just did that all on its own, If you want to fool with it, be my guest . . .UP TO ME . . .out the window it would get thrown.” He’d never ask for help out-right, it wasn’t his style, But he would have a table-full at dinner time that way and that would make him smile. The workbench in the basement, full of nuts, bolts, and dust, It was a favourite escape of his from the bustle and fuss. Need a bench made? . . . no problem, need a cabinet? . . . I’ll make two. Here’s a coin clock, a medicine chest, and a baseball bat holder . . . it was no bother, I needed something to do. If you needed it, he’d build it, if it were broken, he’d fix, The “wow, thanks, Dad” that he got was well worth the occasional stitch. The crib board in the kitchen, the cards ready--red deck, not the blue, Always a great way to spend an hour or two. “We need to move this game, your mother’s beginning to pout,” Get Jake off the peg board again, I’m gonna count out. A house full of people always made him laugh and smile, He didn’t always show it, that wasn’t his style. You were considered his family the minute you waked in. You were an honourary Canadian to him; you were part of his kin. The family in Fort Frances was never far away, You knew who he was on the phone with when you heard him go “eh”? It was as if he never left town, when he got on that phone, You saw it in his wide grin, in his loud laughter, in his bright blue eyes, when he heard from his northern home. Elle a aussi été membre de l'Association Québec-France, de l'Association des familles Pépin-Lachance et de l'Association d'histoire de Neuville. TILLINGHAST, LISETTE MICOLEAU, 91, of Providence and Little Compton, died on Sunday, September 4th at Epoch in Providence. She was the wife of the late Charles C. Tillinghast, Jr., former Chancellor of Brown University and former chairman of Trans World Airways. Born in Providence, Mrs. Tillinghast was the daughter of the late Henri Micoleau, former French professor at Brown University and the late Elizabeth J. Micoleau. Mrs. Tillinghast attended Wheeler School, Abbot Academy and Rhode Island School of Design. She was an artist member of the Providence Art Club and a member of the Westport Art Group. She is survived by a son, Charles C. Tillinghast, III of Sun Valley, Idaho; and three daughters, Elizabeth T. Nadeau of Rochester, NY and Little Compton; Jane T. Roberts of Little Compton; and Anne M. Tillinghast of Providence and Little Compton. Besides her children, she leaves twelve grandchildren. One grandson, Alex Roberts, predeceased her. In addition, she is survived by twenty-one great-grandchildren.There will be a private memorial service for family members. AUGER, DIANE M., 62 - of Bridgeton, passed away Sunday morning, September 4, 2005, in the Cumberland Manor, Hopewell Township. She had been in failing health for the past ten years. The wife of John R. Auger, she was born in Philadelphia, PA and was the daughter of the late Franklin C. and Helen Hartsough Oertle. She had been a resident of Bridgeton since 1955 and prior to that had lived in Runnemede. Diane had formerly been employed with Cumberland Mutual Insurance Co., Bridgeton Board of Education where she had worked as a secretary and the former Price Bros. Lithographers. She had also been employed as a crossing guard with the City of Bridgeton. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception Regional School and Bridgeton High School, Class of 1968. She was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Roman Catholic Church in Bridgeton. Besides her husband, survivors include: two daughters, Kimberly Auger Fogle, Bridgeton and Michelle Dawson, Pendell, PA; one sister, Nancy Hess, Absecon and one brother, Franklin C. Oertle, Jr., Vineland. The funeral will originate in the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Friday morning, September 9, at 9:00 O'clock, followed by her Funeral Liturgy in St. Teresa of Avila Roman Catholic Church, 45 Central Avenue, Bridgeton, at 10:00 O'clock. Burial will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Township. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening between 7:00 and 9:00 O'clock. DELTONA - Dustin F. Morin, 86, of Lydia Drive, who owned a business in the trucking industry, died Thursday at Shady Lane Assisted Living Facility, Orange City. Mr. Morin moved here in 1987 from Columbus, Ohio, his birthplace. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Deltona Country Club. He enjoyed fishing and golf. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Dorothy; two stepsons, Rod Wilcox, Mount Vernon, Ohio, and Eric Wilcox, Gahanna, Ohio; and a stepdaughter, Debi Wilcox, Columbus. Helen Deschene, 75, Stephen, MN, died on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005 at her home surrounded by her family. Helen Schmidt was born on March 27, 1930 in Stephen, MN, the daughter of Hans and Minnie (Kroll) Schmidt. She was raised in Stephen and graduated from Stephen High School. Helen got her teachers training in Warren and she taught country school near Argyle, MN for a couple of years. On Dec. 27, 1950, she was united in marriage to Omer Deschene. They made their home in Stephen. She was the hot lunch cook at the Stephen Public Schools for over twenty-six years. She was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church where she was active as an Eucharistic Minister and involved with the St. Stephen's Ladies Aid. Helen enjoyed golfing, fishing, quilting, wood working, doing crafts and following the Minnesota Twins. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Omer and four children; Sandra Deschene of Grafton, ND, Barbara Deschene of Grand Forks, ND, Janice (Wayne) Bakken of East Grand Forks, MN and Randy (Kathy) Deschene of Moorhead, MN, ten grandchildren, soon to be one great-grandchild, two sisters; Norma (Orville) Koland of Karlstad, MN and Erma (Don) Mattila of Babbitt, MN, brother, William Schmidt of Ft. Mohave, AZ and two sisters-in-law; Ruth Schmidt of Coon Rapids, MN and Gwen Schmidt of Stephen, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Cora Schmidt and Joyce Schmidt and two brothers, Robert Schmidt and Harvey Schmidt. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who will be missed by family, relatives and friends. She worked as a cashier at Walmart. Suzanne befriended everyone she ever met, and being a cashier, she met many people. She was also a die hard Lions fan forever. BREAU, ELMER J. - The death of Elmer J. Breau, widow of Blanche M. (Pitre) Breau, occurred at Ridgewood Veterans' Wing on Tuesday, September 6, 2005. Mr. Breau was born in Chatham, a son of the late Joseph Norbert and Guillaumine (Savoie) Breau, and had resided the greater part of his life in Saint John, where he had been employed with Mawhinney Plumbing & Heating until his retirement a number of years ago. He had served overseas during the Second World War with the North Shore Regiment and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Elmer had never lost his sense of humour. He was pre-deceased by a son, Fred Breau; and two brothers, Clarence and Arthur Breau. He is survived by three sons, Gerald (Charlie) of Cambridge-Narrows, Allen (Linda) of Grand Bay, and Paul of Saint John; two daughters, Dale Breau (Gary), and Sheila Curwin (Bruce), both of Saint John; two brothers, Dornce and Albert Breau, both of Ontario; three sisters, Lena McIntyre of Miramichi, Norma McLean of Moncton, and Marie Breau of Edmonton; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Stella Maris Church on Thursday morning at twelve o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
