Mr. Robert William Watson July 18, 1926 - August 12, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) WATSON, Robert William - 79, Maitland, formerly of Milford Station. He passed away peacefully August 12, 2005, at the home of Bob and Pat Brightman in Maitland. Born in July 18, 1926 in Johannesburg, South Africa, he was a son of the late John William Watson and Margaret Strangeways Watson. He was born and raised in Africa. He farmed on a big tobacco farm in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), Africa. His love of life was fishing on the Zambezi River. He also loved to garden, bird watch and curse squirrels. After 35 years he immigrated to Nova Scotia to be with his family. He married Eveline May Cutler in 1945 and raised five children. He then married Eileen Pond in 1992. He is survived by four children of his own, Andrew Robb (Jill), Zambia; John Watson (Colleen), South Africa; Susan May (Geoffrey), Canada; Mark Watson (Glenda), South Africa. He had 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. As well as Eileen's children, Rick Pond, Sheila Burris, Pat Brightman (Bob), Gary Pond (Lorna), Shirley Reid (Rob) and Kevin Pond (Monique), who have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, he is also survived by sisters, Anne Budden and Dorothy Jones (both in Southern Africa); several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Eveline May Watson; daughter, Lindsey Whisken, and his second wife, Eileen Roberta (Sherwood) Pond. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. The graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, August 15, in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, Pastor Paul Van der Kooy officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses or Colchester East Hants Palliative Care Unit. DUGGAN, William Frederick 78, Bridgetown NS, passed away August 4 2005 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton NS. Born in Peterborough ON, he was the son of the late William and Lucille (Rose) Duggan. William was retired from the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard. He was former President of Branch #33 Royal Canadian Legion, avid golfer and musician.He is survived by his wife, the former Lurline E. Gallant, Son, W. David, Jersey Channel Islands; Daughters Stephanie (Mark Haggan) Tremont NS; Donna (Denton) Calgary AB; Nancy (Barrett) Ottawa ON; Lyn Duggan, Rocky Mountain House AB; sister, Katherine McCoy, Ottawa ON, 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephew. VACCHIO, Giuseppe It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father, Giuseppe Vacchio peacefully on Friday August 12, 2005, at the age of 73 years. He will be dearly missed by our mother and devoted wife Consiglia (Celia), who tirelessly cared for him and tended to his every request throughout his lengthy illness. THOMAS, FRANK MURRAY The death of Frank Murray Thomas, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on August 12, 2005 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Tay Creek, NB on February 12, 1940, he was a son of the late Frank L. and Alma E. (MacKinnon) Thomas. He was a Truck Driver for Linwood Evans. Frank and his brother Jack, are better known as the "Thomas Brothers" at Horse Hauls. He was an avid lover of horses. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Miller) Perigny.He was born in Lowell on May 23, 1919. 3863 CROOK, E. Dale, CD Major (Ret'd) 8th Canadian Hussars (PL) Dale died peacefully at home on August 12th, 2005 in his 71st year after a courageous battle with cancer. His death marked the end of a lifetime relationship with Patricia, his high school sweetheart and wife of 46 years. Will be dearly missed by his children, Colin (Donna) and Bonnie (Ron) and by his grandchildren, twins Christopher and Bradley who were very special to Dale. Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews, Debbie, Dail, Don and David. Predeceased by his parents, Evie and Muriel and by his only sister, Irma. Dale grew up in Richmond, Quebec and attended St. Francis College High School. He completed his senior matriculation at Quebec High School and entered into the military college at Royal Roads. He graduated from the Royal Military College and completed his BEng at McGill. Dale and Patricia were married in 1958, and started their military life in Gagetown. Dale served in Germany, England, and in the United States. He served a year with the International Control Commission in Vietnam. After retiring from the military, he went to the NRC where he was a program manager in the Space Division which subsequently moved to the Space Agency. He retired from the Space Agency in 1995, the year his cancer was first diagnosed. Dale was active in his retirement, a volunteer with the Red Cross, a member of the Ottawa Field Naturalist Club and active as a volunteer at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden, a Director on the Pike Lake Association, and a key Director and active member of the Ottawa Duck Club. Dale was an ardent naturalist and nature photographer. He marveled at all forms of fauna and flora, and was happiest when in the woods either observing or photographing. He cherished his brotherhood with his RMC classmates and with the Hussar family. He enjoyed golfing and skiing with his wife and friends. His career, family, friends and many interests provided a rich and full life. Visitation will take place on Monday, August 15th between 7 and 9 p.m. at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa. A celebration of Dale's life will be held the following morning at 10 o'clock, Tuesday, August 16th, at the McGarry Chapel. Interment will follow at The National Military Cemetery at Beechwood. Donations in Dale's memory can be made to the Palliative Outreach Program, 1455 Woodroffe Avenue S., Nepean, ON K2G 1W1. The family would like to thank the staff at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre for their care and compassion during Dale's treatments; especially to his oncologists, Dr. Tomiak and Dr. Young and to the nurses in the Chemo Treatment Room. The special care and compassion continued with Caroline Tibbles RN and Dr. Margaret Farncombe of the Palliative Care Outreach Program, as well as nurses of the VON. EAGLE LAKE - Rolly "Tony" Saucier, 52, died accidentally Aug. 10, 2005, in Eagle Lake. He was born Sept. 10, 1952, the son of Edmond and Ruth (Palmer) Saucier. Tony was member of the American Legion Post 176 in Eagle Lake. He served in the U.S. Navy for several years. He was employed for 22 years as a stacker for Pinkham Lumber until 1997. Tony was an avid outdoorsman. He will be remembered as being a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends, always smiling and more than willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. To Tony, Denny Pond was a very special place he held in his heart. He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Linda (Berube) Saucier; his son, T.J. Saucier; daughter, Tisha Saucier, all of Eagle Lake; his mother Ruth (Palmer) Saucier of Eagle Lake; seven brothers and sisters, Lola Pelletier of Eagle Lake, Terry Dwyer of Nashua, N.H., Sharon Michaud of Eagle Lake, Janie Lausier of San Antonio, Texas, Donna Saucier, Bobby Saucier and Tim Saucier of Eagle Lake. Leona E. DuBois -- August 15, 1924 -- August 10, 2005 -- DANIELSON -- Leona E. DuBois, formerly of Maple Court died on Wednesday at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, just a few days short of her 81st birthday. She was born in Putnam, CT on August 15, 1924, the daughter of the late Ovila and Eva (Forest) Rondeau. Mrs. DuBois attended school at the St. Mary's Catholic School in Putnam. She married Isidore J. DuBois on February 2, 1946, and then worked for a limited time at the American Optical Corporation in Southbridge, Massachusetts. She also worked as a waitress and at various other occupations throughout her life, retiring in 1989 from the DANCO Corporation of Putnam, where she was employed as a molder operator. Mrs. DuBois enjoyed going to yard sales with her sister. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. She was also a past member of the VFW Woman's Auxiliary. She was a communicant of St. James Church of Danielson. She leaves two sons, Gordon DuBois and his wife, Julie of Danielson, and Donald DuBois and his wife, Nancy of Brooklyn, CT; five grandchildren, and four greatgrandchildren, all of whom love their MéMé dearly; two sisters, Lorraine Lapalme of North Grosvenordale and Lucille DesLauriers of Putnam; and one brother, Joseph Rondeau of Putnam. She was predeceased by a brother, Martin. Pelletier; he died Aug. 22, 1972.She enjoyed her home, going for Sunday drives, family cookouts and baking for her relatives.
