Samuel Gorber Samuel (Sam) Gorber, 68, of Moncton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 7, 2005. Born in Moncton, son of the late Morris and Elizabeth (Coleman) Gorber. Sam was a member of Tiferes Israel Synagogue, Moncton and a retired employee of Province of N.B. Assessment Department. Sam retired in March of 1998 with 42 years of service. Following his retirement he became actively involved in the family business. At the time of his death he was a Director of N.B.P.E.A. Inc. Sam is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lorna; daughter, Jessica (Kirk); son, Jonathan; grandsons, Bradley the "Apple of his eye" and Matthew; sisters, Helen Jochelman (late Hyman), Moncton, Isabel Rose (late Ezra), Fredericton; brothers, Charles (Esther), Harry (Ann), Herbert (Coralee), Moncton; several nieces and nephews. Ella Louise Dunfield 1918 - 2005 PETITCODIAC, NB - Ella Louise Dunfield, age 87, of Kodiac Place, Petitcodiac, formerly of Anagance, passed away, Monday, August 8, 2005 at The Moncton Hospital. Born June 15, 1918 in Mechanic Settlement, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ada (McNair) Bustin. She was a homemaker, a member of the United Church, a life member of the United Church Women, a member of the Anagance Senior Citizens, and a member of the Kodiac Kats. She is survived by her husband, Robert of Jordan Life Care Centre; daughter, Margery Prosser (Gerald Alward) of Havelock; sons, Harry (Bethany) of Petitcodiac, Kent (Susan) of Dartmouth; sister, Mary DeMille of Petitcodiac; brother, Murray Bustin (Edith) of Kitchener, ON; grandchildren, Kelly, Dawn, Lesley, Julie, Charlotte, Michael, Bobby; great grandchildren, Claire, Alyson, Madison; as well as several nieces and nephews. Raymond Joseph Donelle 1926 - 2005 The death of Raymond Joseph Donelle, 79 years, husband of Audrey (Wilson) of Church Street, Moncton occurred at Kenneth Spencer Memorial Home on Sunday, August 7, 2005. Born in Moncton, January 11, 1926, he was the son of the late Louis and Emma (Duguay) Donelle. Raymond retired in 1986 from Moncton Publishing after a 38 year career as a compositor. He was a member of St Theresa's Church in Dieppe, where he was very active with the Golden Age Club, taking part in all the activities of the club, in particular playing cards, darts and dancing. Raymond enjoyed bowling, softball, spending time at the cottage he built in Caissie Cape and his most favorite activity, spoiling his grandchildren whom he adored. Raymond is survived by his best friend and wife of 55 years, Audrey (Wilson) Donelle. Ronald Lindsay 1919 - 2005 Ronald Lindsay, 85, of Moncton, passed away at The Sackville Memorial Hospital on Sunday, August 7, 2005. Born in Southend on Sea, England on August 20, 1919, he was the son of the late Herbert and Florence (Lewis) Lindsay. A Veteran of the Second World War, Ronald served with the Royal Engineers, British Army. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Moncton Branch # 6, a past president of the Lions Senior Citizens Club and a member of Wesley Memorial United Church. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mildred (Milton); a brother, Eric James, of England; as well as several nieces and nephews. Passed away peacefully in The Richmond Hospital on August 4th, 2005.p>Sybil was predeceased by her loving husband Allan, of 65 years (February 14th, 2005); her sisters, May, Muriel, Ethel, Eileen, Phyllis, Ruth and Marjorie; and her 2 brothers, Cyril and Alexander. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, brother-in-law and her sister-in-law throughout Canada and the United States. Sybil lived in Winnipeg and Montreal until Allan retired and they moved to Richmond in 1978. Sybil was a good friend, a wonderful homemaker and a lady always. She enjoyed her garden, sewing, knitting and crafts. Earlier, with Allan, they enjoyed golf, bridge, bowling and traveling extensively. The family wish to thank Dr. Tenby and the staff of Holy Family Hospital and Minoru Residence 2W for the kind and compassionate care given to Sybil. Cremation. Paul Hegion September 03, 1917 - August 08, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Regina Funeral Home HEGION – Paul completed his life’s journey, encircled in his family’s love, on Monday, August 8, 2005 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his sons Doug and Richard. Ellen Deegan August 16, 1910 - August 08, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dearest mother and grannie, Ella Deegan, on August 8, 2005 at the Grace Hospital with her daughter at her side. Ella was born on August 16, 1910 in the County of Ayr, Scotland and came with her family to Canada as a young girl. In 1932, she married John Barrett Deegan and settled in Winnipeg. After being widowed in 1962, Ella worked at the “General” Hospital until she retired in 1975. Her memory will be cherished forever by her daughter Dianne (Murray), grandson Todd (Jen), granddaughter Trish (Adam) and great-grandson Piper. Also left to mourn her loss is her sister Betty Armstrong, sister-in-law Louise Weir, nieces, nephews and good friend Mary O’Conner. Mom was predeceased by her husband John, sisters Meg, Grace and Jean and brothers Ivie and Jimmy. Mom was not easily given to expressing emotion but those who knew her understood that she had a kind heart, sincere caring and boundless love for her family. We have lost someone who listened to our troubles, shared our disappointments, encouraged our dreams, guided us by example and provided us with strength and support. Thank you, Mom, for the precious memories. You will live within our hearts forever. She was predeceased by her soul-mate (James) Wayne in June 2001, her loving parents, Walter Danko in January 2005, and Mary in March 2004; her step sister-in-law Faye Atkinson in August 1986; her brother Douglas in March 1977; and her father-in-law James Nelson Atkinson in February 1970. She leaves to cherish her memory her wonderful mom Edith Atkinson; daughters, Sheila (Gerard) Lucyshyn and Deanne (Shawn) Hilts; and her five precious grandchildren, Michael and Adam Lucyshyn, James, Ryan and Sara Hilts; her sisters and their families, Angela Danko, Sandra (Dennis) Rigey, Janet (Jim) Martin and Donna (Larry) Artimowich and her nieces and nephews, Lisa, Christine (Paul), Robert, Christopher (Mira), Stacey (Greg), Michelle, Kaylee, Justin and Avery, her step sister-in-law Alice Atkinson, her sister-in-law Danielle Frenette; and her special American family, the Hartleys; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Evelyn was born April 25, 1950. She met the love of her life Wayne, and after a whirlwind courtship, they married October 12, 1968, and were blessed with two daughters. Evelyn enjoyed a career in retail management as the store manager of a number of Saan stores in the Winnipeg and Selkirk area. Evelyn left work in 1999 to care for Wayne during his illness. The loss of Wayne was devastating, but through the support of her family and friends and the love of her grandchildren, Evelyn persevered and independently carried on. She enjoyed travelling and chatting with her many on-line friends. The family extends their sincere gratitude to all family and friends for their many acts of kindness, prayers, love and support. MORAWSKI, Szczepan (Steve) Szczepan (Steve) T. Morawski P. Eng, 74, passed away suddenly at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Saturday, August 6, 2005. Szczepan was born on January 3, 1931, in Radom, Poland. He was an accomplished Professional Engineer with a long career spanning over 51 years, last 21 years with Health and Welfare Canada in the Health Services Systems Division. He was involved in many high visibility projects in Poland, Cuba and Canada. Besides his professional life, he participated in organizations and implementation of various community oriented activities. He was a long time participating member of the Polish Engineers Association in Canada, a founding member of Canadian Hospital Engineers Society (CHES), a Life Executive Member of the International Federation of Hospital Engineers, founding member of the Polish Heritage Foundation in Canada and a one time chairman of the Polish Heritage School in Ottawa. He was also involved in Federal Government Elections in 1996 and 2000 as the Automation Co-ordinator for Ottawa West - Nepean electoral district. For his outstanding professional work and social work, he was awarded the following medals: in 1958 a Bronze Medal for the Reconstruction of the Capital City of Warsaw; in 1973 a Silver Cross of the Polish Combatants Association in Canada for the design and construction of the Combatants Home at Beverly Street in Toronto, Canada; in 1985 a Silver Medal for his social activities in the Polish Community in Ontario, Canada. Szczepan was an avid though modest poet and a very passionate political commentator when afforded the opportunity. When the time allowed he was keen working on his home and woodworking hobbies. He was a loving a devoted father/grandfather who will be missed by his two surviving sons, Peter and Darius, daughter-in-law Kathy and two grandchildren Kevin and Kristine. Murray Latimer At KGH after a courageous battle on 23rd July, 2005 in his 76th year. Dearly beloved husband of 52 years of Edna Convery. Predeceased by his parents Arnold and Hazel Latimer and brother-in-law Martin Convery. Murray was retired from DuPont for 16 years. Owned and operated Willowbank Motor Court since 1956. His pride and joy was cutting grass and maintaining the property. He loved to dance and play cards. McKEE, Agnes Grey (Nancy) nee Hunt - Passed away peacefully at home in North Bay on August 6, 2005 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late John Lawrence McKee (1983) and the dearly love Mom of John of Fort Liard, Nancy Condliffe (Toby) of Toronto, Marianne Rogers (Ed) of North Bay and Bruce (Mavis) of Naperville, IL. Cherished Gran of Janel; Keith, Elizabeth, Judy; Jon (Ruth), Joe, Jess; Steven, Jeremy and Devin. Nancy was the dear sister of Jeanne Neil, Toronto and was predeceased by her sister Elizabeth Outerbridge, sister-in-law Mary King and brother-in-law John Neil. Aunt Nancy to Jeff Neil, Jennifer Stewart (Chris, Kyle, Justin), and the Kings - Mary, Lorrie, Pat, Tom and Julie. Nancy was born in New Orleans, graduated from the University of Toronto, and moved to Northern Ontario in 1940. She dedicated her life to her family. Her volunteer work helped many in her community. STRAIN, Charles Arthur "Art" - At Nipissing Manor Care Giving Center on Saturday, August 6th, 2005 at the age of 85 years. Charles Arthur Strain, beloved husband of the late Mildred Katherine Caldwell, who predeceased him in 1990. SOUTH HADLEY - E. Ruth (Appleby) Desjeunes, 70, of Helm St., died Monday, August 8, 2005 at Heritage Hall in Agawam. Born Nov. 18, 1934 in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Robert & Irene (Oliver) Appleby. She was a 1957 graduate of the Bridgewater Teachers' College. She worked as a teacher for 34 years and many at the Bellamy Middle School in Chicopee. She had lived in New Bedford until she moved to Chicopee in 1959, and moved to South Hadley in 1965. She was a 40 year member of the Holyoke Country Club where she was a former Women's Club Champion. She was also an avid gardener. Ruth is survived by her husband, Joseph D. Desjeunes; a sister, Patricia Marks of Portsmouth, RI; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late William Appleby who was formerly of Buford, SC. A calling hour will be held on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. in the Ryder Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley with a Memorial Service to follow in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will be held privately at a later date. NEW BEDFORD -- Lillian (Barriteau) Pacheco, 94, of New Bedford and formerly of Ruth Street, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at the New Bedford Health Care Center after a brief illness. She was the widow of Antone B. Pacheco Jr. A lifelong resident of New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Florence (King) Barriteau. She was a communicant of St. Kilian Church. She was an assembler for John I. Paulding for 49 years until she retired. Mrs. Pacheco was a member of the United Auto Workers and the Elderly Haven Center. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and was an avid bingo player. Survivors include three daughters, Mildred Romanowicz and her husband, Leo W., and Linda F. Pacheco, all of New Bedford, and Joan L. Peebles and her husband, Charles, of Bayport, Texas; a son, Robert W. Tracy and his wife, Patricia, of South Dartmouth; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Florence Valliere, Rose Lindo, Edward Barriteau and Wilfred Barriteau. Her funeral Mass with cremains present will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Killian Church.
