Paul Hamel Funeral arrangements by Regina Funeral Home HAMEL – Paul passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at the age of 87 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Pierre and Marie; wife, Frances, on September 7, 2003; son-in-law, Rodger, on March 10, 1995; and brothers: Wilfred and Amede. Paul is survived by his children: Evelyn Ireland and her family, Nicholas & David; Jacqueline (Jim) Nodge and their family, Jocelyn, Ted & Bob; Ron (Barb) and their family, Emilie & Kiera; brothers and sisters: Napolean, Gabriel, Emile, Denise, Pete, Ulric, Marianne & Emilienne and their families; as well as his wife, Frances’ brothers and sisters and their families. Paul was one of 11 children. He was born in Wauchope, SK on December 22, 1917. He was a true farmer all of his life, farming at Rowatt, west of Regina and lastly, at Indian Head. Mrs. Evelyne A. Horsman (née Garrett) February 21, 1915 - April 23, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Castle Funeral Home- Kings Chapel Horsman, Evelyne A.- On Saturday, April 23, 2005, Evelyne Atkinson Horsman, passed away peacefully in the company of her family at the Marysview Seniors Facility in Hampton, NB. Evelyne was the wife of the late Harold W. Horseman who worked for the CNR in Moncton and Saint John for many years. Born in Sussex, NB she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lilian (McEwan) Garrett. Evelyne's strong spirit and her generosity were an inspiration to her family . She had a wonderful sense of humor and a talent for storytelling, often recollectng pieces of family history from generations past. Mrs. Kristal "Ruth" Lee Hunter May 03, 1949 - April 01, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Campbell's Funeral Home Kristal (Ruth) Lee Hunter age 55, of Amherst passed away Friday, April 1, 2005 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan, N.S. Born in Amherst she was a daughter of the late Donald and Clara (Teed) Gibson. She is survived by two sons Christopher and David, one half sister Donna Gibson of Amherst, six half brothers Michael, Stephen, Barry and Vernon all of Amherst and Craig and Kevin both of Ottawa. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Lorne Hunter and a son Donald. Cremation has taken place. At Kristal's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Antonio "Tony Sr." Iaquinto December 11, 1956 - April 28, 2005 IAQUINTO, Antonio (Tony Sr.) - On Thursday, April 28, 2005, in his 49th year, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Diana and loving Dad to his most precious gift in life, his son, Tony Junior. BERESFORD, F.E. Valerie "Dickie" Oct. 1915 to May 2005 Suddenly on Wednesday morning May 4, 2005. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Beresford. She will be remembered for her passion for nature and the environment. She spent much of her life communing with nature: digging in the earth and producing beautiful gardens, drying flowers to make pictures and candles to preserve their beauty, painting pictures of flowers with shells and doing water colours at the spur of the moment to capture the moon or the sunlight. Her favourite book was 'Silent Spring'. She fervently expressed her environmental concerns about what Man was doing to the Earth. Her other love was her family who will miss her terribly. Granny will be sadly missed by her daughters; Elizabeth (Jaan Kull), Patricia (Tony Bebbington), and Susan (Brian Remington). Her grandchildren Lisa (Jamie Armstrong), Trish (Greg Lutes), Stephen and Andrew Kull, Christopher, Meghan and Colin Bebbington and especially her precious great-grandchildren Riley, Parker, Tanner and Dylann Armstrong, Andrea and Emily Lutes. BOLTON, Michael "Mike" Passed away on May 5, 2005, in Victoria, BC with his soul mate, Barbara Danbrook, at his side, at the age of 76. Loving father of Malcolm (Anne Radke), Rebecca (Neil Morris) and Michael (Nancy Brady). Proud grandfather of Lisa, Clayton and Eric. Also survived by former wife Shirley Bolton. Born in Southport, England in 1929, Mike immigrated to Canada in 1941 with his mother Lucy. They settled in Ottawa where he attended high school and university. He joined the Canadian Hydrographic Service in the 1950s, and moved west to become Regional Hydrographer in 1968. Mike will be fondly remembered by his many friends, colleagues and golfing buddies. CHENNELL, Donelda Christine Passed away in Villa Marguerite on Thursday, May 5, 2005 at age 94. Born in West River Station, Nova Scotia. Left to celebrate her life are her daughters and sons in law Bonnie and Edmund Bowkett, Carol and Bruce Smith, her grandchildren, Edmund (Denny), Gail (Dave) and Kathleen Bowkett, Carrie (Rob Markowski) and Jennifer Smith and her great-grandchildren Sonja, Meghan, Stephanie, Zachary and Dillon. FAHRIG, Walter Frederick August 17, 1926 - May 6, 2005 With his wife, Ruth, by his side, Walter died peacefully in Merrickville at the Hilltop Manor Nursing Home. Until suffering a major stroke last October, Walter lived life to its fullest, thriving on his relationships with family and friends and his insatiable curiosity about science, literature, nature, politics, history and culture. After graduating with his Ph.D. in geology from the University of Chicago, Walter enjoyed a successful career as a research scientist with the Geological Survey of Canada. Walter is survived by his wife, four daughters Kristen, Lenore, Martha Macfie and Rebecca and three grandsons who will all miss him greatly. To honour Walter's desire that we "Throw a party" after he is gone, there will be an open house at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 13th at 406 St. John Street in Merrickville. OBITUARY JACQUELINE CHAMANDY 1937 - 2005 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Jackie on May 6, 2005. She fought a courageous battle until the end. She is pre-deceased by her brother Harley Chamandy, her mother Josephine Chamandy, and her father Joseph Chamandy. Those left behind to honour her life are: her son Bruce Rossy (Rana Abinajem), daughter Karen Rossy, sister Nadine Chamandy (Bernard Rabot), sister-in-law Shirley Chamandy (George Ayoub) and her beloved companion and best friend Roderick Shergold. Nanny will be especially missed by her six grandchildren: Lauren David, Lindsay David, Thomas David, Emily David, Andrew and Matthew Rossy as well as countless aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and business associates. She will also be fondly remembered by Raymond Rossy and Arthur Laham. She was proud to be a member of the Greater Montreal Real Estate Board and we wish to thank her colleagues for their support. OBITUARY BRIAN LESTER CLEARY 1943-2005 Passed away at the Montreal General Hospital on Sunday, May 1, 2005 at the age of sixty-two after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Carole Landry, devoted father to Erin, Kim (Erik Hueglin), Jason, and Shane and adored grandpa to Kayla and Tanner Hueglin. You will be sadly missed and remain in our hearts forever. Brian will also be missed by his loving mother, Marjorie Hawley (and the late Leo Cleary), his sister, Maureen (Harold Mosco), and his father-in-law, Gordon Landry (and the late Dolores Main). Brian was a long-time employee of the CN Investment Division, an avid golfer and gardener, a lover of animals (his furry buddies, Nala and Bayley) and a friend to many. He will be greatly missed by his golf buddies, Bob and Roger. Honoring Brian's wishes, a private family service was held, in the presence of the ashes, at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery. OBITUARY EVELYN MAUD EATON Died peacefully at the Griffith McConnell Nursing Home, aged ninety-four years. She will be lovingly remembered by her dearest friend Sarah Paltiel, her niece Carol Jackman (Jean-Paul Schuller) of Val-Morin, her nephew Barry Jackman (Jen) of Springdale, Nfld., Renata Guttman and her many friends and colleagues from the Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the English Montreal School Board. Born in 1911 in Montreal, daughter of the late Ernest Eaton and Sarah (Maude) Inskip. Her career began in 1929 with the Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal and spanned thirty-five years. While teaching at Fairmount Elementary and West Hill High schools, she earned a B.A. from Queen's University in 1942 and an M.A. from Middlebury College, Vermont in 1947. In 1944 she became the first female Supervisor of French and in 1958 was promoted to Coordinator of French, a post that she held until her early retirement in 1964. In 1950, she was awarded the Order of Scholastic Merit by the Government of Quebec. She was co-author of several French textbooks used in Quebec elementary schools. In retirement, she worked as a volunteer student advisor at McGill's Royal Victoria College, and from 1971 to 1977, she taught English as a Second Language to senior federal officials. She will be remembered for her pioneering work in second-language teaching, her innovation in curriculum development, and her ground breaking success as an educational administrator. Evelyn was a founding member of the Gamma Province (Quebec) Delta Kappa Gamma International Society, and was its first President in 1956-57. She was also awarded an honorary Life Membership of the Provincial Association of Protestant Teachers of Quebec in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the Association and to the teaching profession. The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Staff at the Griffith McConnell Residence for their care and kindness over the past five years. REID, Robert It is with much sadness that we announce that Robert Reid passed away on May 5, 2005 in the Palliative Care Unit of The Edmonton General Hospital. He leaves to mourn his mother, Edna Reid, his sister Elizabeth Atherton-Reid, brother-in-law Noel McNaughton, nieces Marcy Cunningham and Jill Cunningham and her husband Terry Olsen, and great niece Ella Olsen. He was predeceased by his father Morley Reid in 1994. Robert was born in Leamington, Ontario on July 7, 1942 and enjoyed farming on the family farm on the eighth concession in Mersea Township until he retired in 1999 due to poor health. He has been battling cancer for three years, and two years ago he moved to Edmonton with his mother Edna, to be close to the rest of his family. Cremation has taken place and his family will hold a small private funeral service. Interment will be in the family plot in Leamington at a later date. Our family is deeply grateful for the tender and skilled care provided by the people at these agencies: Palliative Home Care, and the Hospice in St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital, and the Edmonton General Hospital. Violet C. Gay, 93, of Tolland, wife of 56 years to the late Wilfred J. Gay, passed on to a peaceful and eternal rest Friday (May 6, 2005). Born in St. Anne, New Brunswick, Canada, August 18, 1911, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anne (Costin) Allen, she lived in East Hartford 41 years. She had attended St. Mary Church until 1961, when she moved her family to Tolland. Violet was a communicant of St. Matthews Church, Tolland. She was the eldest of 14 children and had a very active life. During the Second World War, while her husband was serving our country in the Pacific, Violet raised five children and managed a 13 room boarding house in East Hartford. She also was a founder and past president of the Twin Mothers Club. She served as president of the VFW Auxiliary and was a member of the Board of Realtors of Vernon. She is survived by her five loving children, Michael and his wife Eileen, Daniel and his wife Nancy, Donald and his wife Patricia, Diane Johnson and Carole McGilton; her brother, Francis Allen and his wife Grace; 18 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Violet's vivacious personality will leave a deep void in the lives of her family and the many friends that she leaves behind. George J. Boucher, age 54, of Welden St. Pawtucket died Wednesday, May 4, 2005 in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI. He was the husband of Helen R. (Rogala) Boucher to whom he had married for 31 years. He was born in Attleboro, MA on June 5, 1950, a son of the late Rodolphe M. and Annette L. (Morin) Boucher. Mr. Boucher had lived in Pawtucket since 1976, having grown up in Attleboro. He had worked in sales and delivery for the former Dexter Furniture Co. of Attleboro for several years and later worked in the warehouse department of the Chex Finer Foods of Attleboro for many years before retiring in 2001. He was an avid sports fan and Patriots fan and an avid camper and gardener. Besides his wife he leaves one sister, Lorraine M. Lederhos of Westwood, MA, 2 nephews Matthew R. FORT FAIRFIELD - Lisa M. Boulier, 44, passed away Friday morning, May 6, 2005, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following an extended illness. She was born March 4, 1961, at Caribou, the daughter of Elden "Cook" and Geraldine (DeMerchant) Boulier. Lisa was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1980 and was a communicant of the St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield. If ever God placed an angel on earth to find the good in everything it was Lisa. She touched the lives of all who knew her and was an avid bingo player. In addition to her parents, Lisa was predeceased by one brother, Roger Boulier. She is survived by three brothers, Brian Boulier and his wife, Jutta, of Titusville, Fla., Dale Boulier and wife, Sharon, of Vinegrove, Ky., Brent Boulier of Brewer; two sisters, Linda Brouette and her husband, Jerry, of Titusville, Fla., Sandra Thornton and her special friend, Omar Butler, both of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews. DARTMOUTH -- George Francis Burke, 90, of Dartmouth died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Sunrise Assisted Living after a long illness. He was the widower of Doris J. (Charon) Burke. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Patrick and Laura (Beaulieu) Burke. He was a former resident of Fairhaven. He was a communicant of St. Joseph/St. Therese Church. He attended New Bedford Textile School and was a tool grinder at Morse Cutting Tools until he retired. Mr. Burke was an avid bowler and enjoyed golf. Survivors include a sister, Mildred Patenaude of Fairhaven; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Walter Burke. FRENCHVILLE - Anna Roy, 87, died May 6, 2005, at a Frenchville Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 28, 1918, in St. Agatha, the daughter of Adolphe and Gertie (Marquis) Cyr. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella of Madawaska and the Ladies of St. Anne of Frenchville. She is survived by four sons and their wives, Clarence and Betty, Roger and Rachel, Gerald and Edwina and Ronald and Barbara, all of Frenchville; two daughters, Joan and her husband, Alton Blier of Fort Kent, Nancy and her husband, Claude Dube of Frenchville; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Morin of Limestone, Lucienne Michaud of Hartford, Conn. and Yvette Pelletier of Hartford, Conn. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo J. Roy in 2002; three brothers, Octave Cyr, Lucien Cyr and Henri Cyr; two sisters, Marie Daigle and Annie Cote. Friends and relatives may call at the Michaud Funeral Home, Frenchville, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. Monday until time of services. Marie Jeanne (Garon) Lasselle, 84, formerly of 32 Quirin Street, died May 6, 2005 at Hanover Hill Nursing Home. She was born in Manchester on May, 20, 1920, the daughter of Phillippe and Regina (Cote) Lasselle and had been a lifelong resident of the city. She was known as the “Doll Lady” at Hanover Hill, having hand made over 300 dolls. She was a parishioner of Ste. Marie Church. She loved camping and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. David P. Gaudreau -- May 17, 1946 -- May 3, 2005 -- CHARLESTOWN, R.I. -- David P. Gaudreau, 58, of Meadow Lane, formerly of Brooklyn, CT, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, while vacationing in Bermuda. He was the husband of Roberta (L'Heureux) Gaudreau, who survives him. They were married on August 7, 1999 at Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Mr. Gaudreau was born in Putnam, CT on May 17, 1946, the son of the late Alcide and Jennie (Sugalski) Gaudreau. He attended St. James School in Danielson, CT and the H.H. Ellis Technical School in Danielson. Upon completion of his education, he apprenticed, and became an electrician for forty years. He was a resident of Brooklyn, Ct for many years, until relocating to Charlestown, R.I., in the mid1990's. Mr. Gaudreau loved the ocean, which he enjoyed experiencing with his grandchildren at his residence at East Beach. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union #35, and a member of the Danielson Lodge of Elks #1706. He was also a member of the East Brooklyn Fire Dept. for many years. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Steven D. Gaudreau and his wife Michelle of Middletown, CT; a daughter, Brenda Schena and husband, Mark of Brooklyn, CT; a stepson, David Schies of N.C.; a stepdaughter, Anita Langan and her husband, David of N.C.; a brother, Richard Gaudreau of Brooklyn, CT; four grandchildren, Rachel and Sarah Gaudreau, and Alyson and Zachary Schena; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Rodney Gaudreau. Funeral arrangements are private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
