BRADY, Helen (nee McGregor) We said farewell to Helen McGregor Brady, a proud Presbyterian Scot who ruled her family with love. Born in Calgary, on January 6, 1909, passing away at the Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 with her family nearby. Helen was a founding member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church, dedicated kitchen aide at the St. Giles booth at the Ex., supreme bingo player, top model for Kiwanis Ladies and a fan of more than 80 summers at Norway Bay. Helen was the loving wife of George (deceased), mother to Nancy McCue (Patrick), Kingston, Bobbie (deceased), Michael Brady (Linda), Brockville and Sheila Brady (David Brown), Ottawa. Helen, also known as Tiger Nannie, was surrounded with love by 8 grandchildren, Beth (Tom Dermody), Thornhill, Linda McCue (Daniel Schwarz), Hamburg, Germany, Colleen McCue (Thang Nguyen), Toronto, Heather McCue (Kyle Kowalchuk), Thornhill, Jessica (Shawn Skelhorne), Toronto, Robbie Brady, Brockville, Katharine Brown, Montreal and Adam Brown, Ottawa. There are 3 great-grandchildren, Colleen and Patrick Dermody, Toronto and Carlo Patrick Schwarz, Hamburg, Germany. Helen is also survived by her brother Rob Roy McGregor, Richmond Hill, who always called his sister "Miss Beautiful. Colonel (retd) Bruce, Thomas A. MD, FRCS (C) Died peacefully at his home in Ottawa April 20th, 2005. Dr. Bruce was born in Long Harbour, NFLD, February 16th, 1929 and was a graduate of Memorial, Dalhousie and the University of Alberta. Having served 24 years in the military and 17 years in private practice, he retired to Ottawa in 1996. Thomas was a generous host and will be greatly missed by many friends across the country, especially in Fort St. John, BC, Ottawa, and Halifax. Dr. Bruce is survived by his wife Sophia; his sons James (Judy), Joffre (Beth), Joseph (Mary); daughters Susan (Joseph) and Anne; his grandchildren Jake, Leslie, Lori, Thomas, Hunter, and Sydney. Equally saddened are his sisters Alice (Patrick), Kitty (Patrick), and brothers Dennis (Camille) and James. HARRISON, Norman Arthur Peacefully, at Central Park Lodge, Ottawa, on May 2, 2005, age 84, after a long battle with cancer and dementia. Devoted husband of Joyce for almost 59 years. Dad to David (Joan) and Jennifer (Kevin). Granddad to Peter (Wendy) and Libby (Phil). Great-Granddad to Ethan and Grace. After immigrating to Canada from England with Joyce and David in 1951, Norman became a pioneer in the Canadian space program, work which took him from Shirley's Bay, Ontario to Fort Churchill, Manitoba and Lompoc, California, and earned him a favourable mention in Time magazine for his resourceful use of fishing line to avert an unfortunate occurrence on the launch pad. After he retired in 1980, he and Joyce enjoyed their cottage on the Rideau Canal and extensive driving trips around North America. They lived in Ottawa's west end for many years, and moved to Central Park Lodge in 1998. Their family is profoundly grateful for the considerate, kind and professional care given to them by the staff there and by Dr. Lisa Cross. At Norman's request, there will be no funeral. HUM, Joe G. (B. Com.) Peacefully, with his family by his side, on May 3, 2005, at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Gertrude. Loving father to Peter (Valerie Deschenes) Hum and Sandra (Howard) Hayes. Dear grandfather to Pascal Hum and Brendan Hayes. He is also survived by two sisters Jessie (Alex) Mah of Richmond, B.C. and Kim (Eric) Cheung of Scarborough, Ontario. He was predeceased by his brothers Thomas Hum and Charles Hum. Joe proudly co-owned and operated the Marco Polo Tavern Restaurant from 1956 to 1983. In 1961, he began his 35 year career with Empire Life Insurance as a representative. Joe was a member and Past-President of the Chinese Community Association. His passions and pastimes included playing bridge, fishing and attending football and hockey games. Eleanor was blessed, and three things were very important to her, her faith, her family, and her friends. HELEN BADIUK It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Badiuk announces her passing at LaVerendrye General Hospital on Monday May 2, 2005 at the age of 85. Helen was born on February 6, 1920 to Theodore and Mary Sedor in Sundown, Manitoba. She was raised there on the family farm. On October 5, 1939 she was united in marriage to Michael Badiuk. Together they moved to the family farm in 1949. Helen was kept very busy with the farm life and enjoyed the fruits of its labour. She was also a member of the Burriss Ladies Aid. In 1998 Helen moved to Flinders Apartments, she truly loved her time there with her many friends. She was predeceased by her parents Theodore and Mary; husband Mike on April 8, 1985; sisters Doreen Belanger and Lina Jamon and brothers John, Bill, George, Nick and Mike. Helen leaves behind her sons George and wife Irene, Bob and wife Trudy and Ken and wife Kelly all of Devlin; grandchildren Allison, Jackie, Kimberly, Jennifer, Christine, Matthew and Micheal; sister Kay and husband Tony Satkivicius of St. Catherine’s, ON as well as numerous nieces and nephews. MARGARET HATFIELD In loving memory of Margaret Hatfield, who passed away suddenly at the Dryden Regional Hospital on Monday, April 25, 2005. Margaret also will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Kristina Doudiet, Felicia McNally (Ryan Hunter), Brian Vlassoff, Kimberly and Rodney Rosseau, Brittney Lavers, Josh Hatfield, and Tonisha Vlassoff; great-grandchildren, Michael Doudiet and Hailey Hunter; sisters, Roxy, Lorna, Yvonne, Shirley, and Jean; brothers, Wayne, Robert, and LyLe; step-brothers, Gaylon and Junior; and all her nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Henry, in August, 2002; daughter, Darlene; son, Jimmy; and son-in-law, Dale Rosseau in July, 2002. Margaret was born in Fort Frances, Ont. and lived in the Kenora-Rainy River District all her life. Margaret and Henry lived on Cedar Lake for many years, where they operated a tourist camp, moving back to the trapline at Camp Robinson in 1970. Margaret and Henry moved to Waldof in 1979 and then to Vermilion Bay in 1980, where they resided until God called them home. A funeral service was held Saturday, April 30, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, with Fr. Luigi Filippini officiating. Interment in the Dryden Cemetery followed the service. MARY ANDRUSCO With great sadness we announce that Mary Andrusco passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2005 with her daughters Leda and Julie by her side at Rainycrest Home for the Aged. She moved to Fort Frances in 1922 and was united in marriage to her husband Walter in 1935. She has been a lifelong member of St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Ukrainian Literary Society, the church choir and St. Anna’s Club. She may well be remembered by many as a hostess at the Rainy Lake Hotel where she was employed for 15 years. Predeceased by her parents Ernest and Sarah Cobb, son Jack Cobb and 2 grandchildren. Survived by her children Patricia Jane Simp son (Tom), Niagara, ON; Wayne, Morin, Alberta; Robert (Cathy), Marie, Roberta, Frank, Betty (Jean Marois), all of Kingston. HOWARD, Doreen Doreen Howard passed away peacefully on April 30, 2005 at Rockyview Hospital in Calgary. She is survived by her loving husband Harold, her son Tim and his wife Louise, her five grandchildren, Wendy, Cindy, Sandy, Morgan, and Tammy, and her three great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Joel, and Zackery. She was predeceased by her son, Stephen, who died in infancy. Doreen was born September 7, 1924 in York, England, the youngest daughter of John and Edith Sidgwick. Her four sisters, Ruth, Be tty, Dolly and Jean have all passed away. Doreen served as a nursing sister during the Second World War, where she met Harold, who was with the RCAF. They married on July 7, 1945 and she came to Canada with the great tide of "war-brides" who immigrat ed to Canada following WWII. Harold continued his service with the RCAF until 1967 and, during that time they lived across Canada, including two tours in Calgary. Harold joined the staff of Queen's University after leaving the Air Force and he and Do reen remained in Kingston, Ontario until they retired in 1989. They subsequently moved to Calgary in 1995 to be close to Tim and his family. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Doreen's life on Friday, May 6th at the Foothills Mennonite Chur ch (2115 Urbana Road NW), Calgary at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT and Nunavut, (1825 Park Road SE, Calgary AB T2G 3Y6). SHINE, Alma (nee Owens) In loving memory of Alma Shine (nee Owens), 61 years, Tuesday, May 3rd, 2005 at her residence in Sudbury. Beloved wife of Dr. Martin Shine of Sudbury. Sadly missed by her sister Kathleen of Ireland. Alma was born in Longford, Ireland in 1943. She married Martin Shine in Dublin, Ireland in 1967. The couple came to Canada in 1972. Alma was a Nursing and Midwife graduate and was employed for several years at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Dublin. She was a volunteer at the G.I. Unit of St. Joseph's Hospital for 13 years. Alma had a thirst for knowledge and enjoyed auditing many courses at Laurentian University. She had a unique sense of humour and will be remembered for her sense of style and her flair for fashion. Alma was a legendary cook who enjoyed entertaining. She leaves her family a legacy of family times, humour and strength. Alma's family will be comforted by her memory and her spirit. Louise M. Tashjian, 89, widow of Edward A. Tashjian, passed away Monday, (May 2, 2005). Louise was born on April 25, 1916 in Shannock, RI, daughter of the late George and Bertha Beaudreau. Louise was married for 34 years to Ed (a former URI basketball standout) who was "her honey" for those 34 years and ever after. Louise spent most of her life in Rhode Island where she was a hairdresser for over 50 years. Louise owned her own business for 34 years and loved her work. Louise moved from her home of 41 years in East Providence, RI to Connecticut in January 1993. She enjoyed her new home, particularly the six years she lived at Westhill Congregate on Ada Lane in Manchester. Her family truly admired the way she found new friends and activities to make a happy life in Connecticut. Louise will be missed by her daughter and son-in-law Carol and Howie Rovegno of Manchester, grandchildren, Howie Rovegno of Colchester, Christine Janus and her husband Craig Janus of Colchester, and Jenna Rovegno and her husband Bernard Deconinck of Seattle, WA; great grandchildren Andrew and Nicholas Janus of Colchester. Louise also leaves her brother and sister-in-law Walter and Theresa Beaudreau of Carolina, RI, several sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Ed, Louise was also predeceased by six brothers and four sisters. Louise's family was the joy of her life. She made each of us feel like the most special person in the world. Funeral services will be Friday May 6, at 10:15 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester. Mary L. (Campbell) Dulac, 84, died May 3, 2005 at Harborside Healthcare Center-Milford after a period of declining health.She was born on April 28, 1921 in Bear River, Nova Scotia, the daughter of the late Arthur T. & Elsie M. (Allison) Campbell.Mrs. Dulac had been a resident of Brookline, NH for most of her life and had formerly resided in Reading, MA.She was a graduate of Fisher Junior College in Boston, MA.Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Dulac worked in the Insurance Industry in Nashua, NH for many years and was a member of the New Hampshire Insurance Women’s League. In her earlier years, she had been employed as a secretary at the Brookline Elementary School.Mrs. Dulac was an active member of her community and had served as secretary to the Board of Selectmen in Brookline and was an interim Board Member. In addition, she was recently elected Vice President of Crestwood Residents Council. She was the devoted wife of Raymond L. Dulac, with whom she shared more than 61 years prior to his death in 2003. Stevens, Dorothy Clouatre "I have fought the good fight; I have I have finished the race; I have kept the faith." A native of Addis and resident of Baton Rouge, she was a retired office manager for a local contracting company for 35 years. She was a devoted mother, an inspiring grandmother, a precious great-grandmother and a beloved friend-helpmate to all in need. She went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2005, in Baton Rouge, surrounded by love. Visitation was Tuesday, May 3, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Greenoaks Funeral Home. Visitation at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, May 4, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by a daughter, Janelle Knight of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert "Jim" and Lois Reisner Stevens of Baton Rouge; brothers, Allen J. Clouatre Jr. and Thomas Lester Clouatre, both of Addis; four grandchildren, Ashley Stevens of Baton Rouge, Steve Campagna and wife Jennifer Woodly Campagna of Sulpur, Connie Campagna Moritz and husband Stuart Moritz of Dallas, and Sherri Campagna Meyers and husband Dr. John Meyers of Daytona Beach; and six great-grandchildren, Spencer and Lauren Moritz, Marietta and Christian Campagna and Rose Margaret and baby Ella Meyers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen Joseph Clouatre Sr. and Irene Blossom Foret Clouatre; brother, James Gerald Clouatre Sr.; and godchild, Terri Lynn Clouatre. URBAIN P. DeCARIE 84, Of Lake Worth passed away peacefully on May 3, 2005. A longtime resident of Delray Beach, Urbain came with his parents Edgar and Florence in 1947. He met his wife, Rachel in Delray Beach and married in 1952. Urbain was predeceased by Rachel in 1976. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law James and Lanita DeCarie of Delray Beach and daughter and son-in-law Joan and Mark Mendel of Boca Raton; four grandchildren: Rachel and Christina DeCarie and Jared and Lauren Mendel. CARMEN BILODEAU -- SHOREHAM — Carmen Bilodeau, 71, passed away Monday, May 2, 2005, at her home in Shoreham. She was born in Addison on April 1, 1934, the daughter of Alexis and Elizabeth (Boivin) Dubois. She graduated from Presentation of Mary High School in Granby, Quebec, Canada. On Sept. 6, 1954, she married Marcel Bilodeau in Vergennes. She helped her husband on the family farm in Shoreham. Carmen was a woman of great faith, who loved the Lord. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Marcel; one daughter, Jaqueline Bilodeau of Shoreham; three sons, Maurice and his wife Connie of Shoreham, Allen and his wife Kim, also of Shoreham, and Edward and his wife Stacy of Rutland. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, one greatgrandson, and a sister, Joan Audet of Cornwall. She was predeceased by four brothers, Roger, Phillip, Marcel and George.
