Mr. Hemmings, who was in his 91st year, was born in Montreal and was predeceased by his parents William and Beatrice (Kemp) Hemmings and eight siblings as well as a daughter, Phyllis Daplyn (Paul) Brockville, ON. Mr. and Mrs. Hemmings moved to Saint John years after retiring from Enterprize Foundry Co. Ltd., where he served as Credit Manager. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hemmings is survived by one son, Don (Jane) Saint John, NB., two daughters Mary Whatmough (Neil) St. Thomas, ON., and Marjorie Jenkins (Philip) Bournemouth, England, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Irvin "Stub" Bernard, 87, of Beaumont died Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Country Dreams Assisted Living Home in Sour Lake, Texas surrounded by family and caring staff of Country Dreams. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2005 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Grammier - Oberle Funeral Home, with a Vigil to be recited at 6:30 P.M... He resided in Rayne, Louisiana for thirty-nine years. He has lived in the Beaumont area for the last twelve years. He served in WWII as a tailgunmen in the Air Force. He retired as General Manager of Red Bernard Chevrolet Company in Kaplan, LA. Irvin was born May 12, 1917 in Scott, LA to Parents Transquillian Bernard and Olivia Ancelet Bernard. Mr. Bernard is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Loula Bernard, daughters; Beverly Ann Bernard, Sherry Bernard, two brothers, and two sisters. Loretta H. (Breault) Jacques, 92, of Middletown, wife of the late Joseph P. Jacques, passed away Thursday (March 31, 2005) at a local convalescent home. She was born in Hartford to the late Edgar and Blanche Breault. She was a french interpreter for the State of Connecticut and a musician. She had her own band the "White Tornadoes" with her late companion, Walter Sochacki. Loretta is survived by a son, Dean Jacques and his wife Lynne of Chester; two daughters, Gloria J. Briggs who took care of her for over ten years and her husband Roy W. of Middletown and Audree May of West Palm Beach, FL. She also leaves three grandchildren, James, Kim and Darin Clark; and four great grandchildren. Kathleen Brown Dupuis, a native of New Orleans, LA, age 63 years, died on Thursday, March 24, 2005 in Ventura, CA, after a sudden illness. Loving wife of Melvin G. Dupuis, mother of Justin David Dupuis and Mignon Dupuis Wheeler, mother-in-law of Jeffrey Wheeler, and grandmother of Colin and Marguerite Wheeler. Daughter of Wilma Ellender Brown and the late Cuthbert J. Brown, M.D. Sister of Suzanne Brown Bagert and Cuthbert Justin Brown, Jr. An educator for 40 years, Mrs. Dupuis served as Dean of Curriculum at St. Bonaventure High School in Ventrua, CA, for the past 14 years. She also taught at Archbishop Chapelle High School, Redemptorist High School and Ecole Classique, in New Orleans, and at Morgan City High School in Morgan City, LA. She was active in fundraising for WYES, an avid reader, music lover, and famous for her culinary adventures and Kentucky Derby parties. HOWARD "FRENCHIE" ANDREW CAUBARREAUX, age 95, of Houston, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2005. He was born on August 15, 1909 in Cocoville, Louisiana to the late Vincent and Anita Roy Caubarreaux. Frenchie was a resident of Houston since 1937, was a devoted Catholic and loved his Lord. He is survived by his children, Clifford Caubarreaux , Howard Caubarreaux, Jr. (Pete), Virginia Dodd and Gloria Sicinski , 11 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Elvis Caubarreaux, and 2 sisters, Beverly Rachel and Rosa Chapelain. He was a milestone in the Camp Logan Subdivision, "known by many, loved by all". A visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6 PM - 8 PM with a rosary to be recited at 7 PM in the chapel of Earthman Hunters Creek Funeral Home, 8303 Katy Freeway. SOUTHBRIDGE— Marguerite L. (Chabot) Curboy, 87, of 67 School St., passed away Saturday, April 2nd, in her home while being cared for by her loving family. Her husband William P. Curboy, died in 1980. She leaves four sons, John M. Curboy of Mendon, William P. Curboy, II, and his companion Anne Costello of Grafton, Martin R. Curboy of Southbridge, and Stewart J. Curboy and his wife, Michelle Poulin of Holland; two daughters, Imelda E. Lundstrom and her husband Gordon of Southbridge and Deborah M. Cote and her husband, Rene, of Warren; a sister, Louise Davis of Florida; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and several godchildren. She was predeceased by four brothers, Mathurin, Roland, Thomas and Paul Chabot and seven sisters, Juliette Putelis, Leona Hardegan, Rita Dabrowski, Florence Allain, Eleanora Grayden, Lucille Knox and Angeline Morrison. She was born in Webster, the daughter of Joseph Z. and Imelda (Maynard) Chabot. Mrs. Curboy worked as a waitress at the former Howard Johnson’s Restaurant in Sturbridge for 35 years where she was known for her people skills, retiring many years ago. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Southbridge where she served as a greeter and a CCD volunteer and was a member of its St. Rita’s Society. She was a volunteer at Harrington Memorial Hospital. She was well known for her collection of hats and enjoyed creating outfits for her to wear. For those who were fortunate to know her in life, Marguerite will be remembered for her generosity, hospitality, great cooking, sewing skills and outstanding method of shooting a basketball, but most of all she will be remembered as an elegant lady, beautiful woman, a kind, loyal and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She dedicated her entire life to her family and will be sadly missed. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 5th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m in St. Mary’s Church, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Southbridge. HAVERHILL -- Germaine M. (Daoust) Goudreault, 91, died Friday, April 1, 2005, at Hannah Duston Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Raymond J. Goudreault, who died June 9, 1989. Born on August 26, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lumina (Valcourt) Daoust. Mrs. Goudreault had been a resident of Haverhill since 1962 and previously resided in Princeton. She was educated in St. Joseph's School, Haverhill, and also attended Haverhill High School.Mrs. Goudreault was employed as a cosmetic consultant and representative of Revlon Co. Inc. She was a member of Sacred Hearts Parish in Bradford and the Franco American Ladies Club.Mrs Goudreault is survived by her daughter Charlotte A. and her husband, Robert E. Maryanne L. (Duprey) Stewart, 89, of Bristol, widow of George R. Stewart, died Friday, (April 1, 2005) at Bristol Hospital. Mrs. Stewart was born September 19, 1915 in Ashland, ME and was a daughter of the late Alex and Agnes (DeVoe) Duprey. She resided in West Hartford for 30 years before moving to Ickesberg, PA where she lived until returning to Bristol in 1990. Mrs. Stewart is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Wilfredo Muniz of Bristol; a brother, Lawrence Duprey of North Carolina; five sisters, Victoria LaFerriere of Eagle Lake, ME, Rose Cloukey of Ashland, ME, Theresa Bannon of Glastonbury, Irene Albert of South Windsor, and Loretta Loubier of East Windsor; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and a large number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Gilbert Theriault; a daughter, Diane Mahannah; and fourteen siblings. ADAMS -- Mary Josephine Courtemanche, 84, of 26 Apremont St. died early yesterday morning at North Adams Commons. Born in Mechanicville, N.Y., on May 13, 1920, daughter of Joseph and Mary Vallio Federico, she attended schools there. She moved to North Adams in 1940 and to Adams in 1967. Mrs. Courtemanche was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams as a tester for 18 years, until 1970. Earlier, she was a seamstress at the former Florence Dress Shop and a manager of the former Peggy Parker Dress Shop, both in North Adams. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas. Her husband, Paul E. Courtemanche, whom she married April 21, 1940, died Jan. 9, 1990. She leaves a sister, Catherine Perrotta of Mechanicville. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mary J. NEW BEDFORD -- James D. Gaouette, 18, of New Bedford died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital. A lifelong resident of New Bedford, he was the son of Darlene Machado of New Bedford and Douglas Gaouette of Dorchester. Mr. Gaouette was a landscaper and worked with his father in the heating and plumbing business. He was an avid sports fan who excelled in football and baseball. He was a member of the South End Youth Athletic Association and participated in the New Bedford Pop Warner football program. Most of all, he loved spending time with his niece, Jaydah. Survivors include his parents; a brother, Justin Gaouette of New Bedford; two sisters, Krystin Gaouette and Katie Alves, both of New Bedford; his grandparents, Dorothy Machado of Freetown, and Rita and Roland Gaouette of New Bedford; a niece; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. EAST LONGMEADOW - Paul Leo Gervais, Sr. 68, beloved husband for 45 years to Lorraine (Martin) Gervais, ascended into the journey of life eternal, March 31, 2005, at home surrounded by his loving family. He retired in 1994 from Ebasco Services, after 18 years of employment. Following retirement, he worked part time as a greenskeeper at Elmcrest Country Club, East Longmeadow. Born in Springfield Oct 3, 1936, he was a son of the late Leo and Hazel (Provanche) Gervais, had been a prior resident of East Springfield, before moving to East Longmeadow, twenty three years ago. He was a 1954 graduate of Springfield Trade High School, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy following his graduation, serving during peacetime. A beloved husband, dad, and grandpa, Paul loved hunting, fishing, travel, hiking, scuba diving, was a nature lover and enjoyed raquet sports. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Mostly, Paul loved life and sharing his zest for living with his many family members and friends. Paul's gentle spirit will be dearly missed by many. Besides his wife, Paul is survived by his devoted children and their spouses; Paul L. Gervais, Jr. and Catherine Gervais of Durango, Colorado, Lynn Gervais-Jones and Lee Jones of Longmeadow, Donna (Gervais) Goulet and Rick Goulet of Springfield, cherished grandchildren; Leah, Abigail, and Elizabeth Gervais of Durango, Colorado, Meghan Jones of Longmeadow, Juliette Goulet of Springfield. She was also the co-founder with her son-in-law Leonard Anair of the Annual Diane Anair Memorial Golf Tournament. She was the beloved widow of Emile Turgeon, loving mother of James, Daniel, and Chislaine Turgeon all of Colorado, Luke Turgeon of PA, Louise Turgeon of Agawam, and the Late Diane Anair who died in 2002. She was the caring sister of Claude, Fernand, Adrian, and Jean-Raymond Girard and Yolanda Langlois, devoted great grandmother of Cerena, Kurt, Keith, Tanya, and Eric Turgeon, and Monique Nicole, and Don Anair. She also leaves her cherished great grandchildren, Jacob and Emma Towsley. Philip J. Lamoureux, age 76, of Belgrade Lakes, Maine and Boca Grande, Fla, retired President and Chief Operating Officer of Warnaco, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at the home of his daughter, Renee, in Fairfield. Born in Stamford, he received his BA Degree from Yale University in 1950. Following graduation, Mr. Lamoureux was commissioned an ensign in the U.S. Navy and served onboard a minesweeper, and was honorably discharged as a lieutenant junior grade. After serving his country, he began his career at Warnaco and retired after 32 years of service. Survivors include his four children, Renee Lamoureux of Fairfield, Gregory Lamoureux, Michele Lamoureux and Denise Lamoureux, both of Westport; and six grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan, Lauren, Matthew, Jake and Alexandra. She had been a resident of Maple Court in Linwood, Mass for 40 years before moving to Beaumont. Mrs. Lapensee worked 25 years at the A & P in Whitinsville, Mass. She is survived by a son, Arthur Ralph Lapensee and his wife Sharon, of Fort Myers, Florida, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at the Good Shepherd Church in Linwood, Mass. at a later date. He served 5 years in the US Army, was a Korean War Veteran and honorably discharged in 1958. He came to California in 1962 and continued working as a Carpenter to later own his own business as a General Contractor. In 1979 he became a resident of Newberry Springs, and later started driving BIG TRUCKS. He was born July 30, 1935 in Cohoes, the son of Edward and Vivian (Chamberlain) Marcil. He graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 1954. Tom entered the U.S. Army on Dec. 17, 1954, where he served as a tank driver until his honorable discharge on Nov. 30, 1956. He resided and worked in Saratoga Springs for several years before moving to Moriah. Tom was employed with Niagara Mohawk for 37 years, retiring in 1995 as a chief line mechanic.He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. William Saucier, 80, died Friday, April 1, 2005 in Diamondhead. He was born in Saucier, MS and lived on the MS Gulf Coast all his life. He was a graduate of Saucier High School and Mississippi State University. During WWII he served his country in the US Navy with duty in the South Pacific. His working career included being a high school teacher and principal at Saucier High School, manager at Progressive Wholesale and an employee at Ingalls Shipyard.He was preceded in death by his parents, Norwood "N.D." He was a graduate of Lowell Trade School.He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was formerly employed with C.F. Hathaway Shirt Company in Lowell and retired as a buyer from the Digital Equipment Corporation in 1993.He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford, where he was a former religious education teacher, and St. Joseph's Church in Pepperell, MA, where he served as an usher.He was a board member of the Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley, and served as president of the Dunstable Senior Citizens Club. Gerald enjoyed Dunstable Politics.Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, David Vaillancourt. She was a graduate of Ascension Catholic High School and Hotel Dieu, after which she worked for many years as a registered nurse. She was a parishioner of St. Gregory Catholic Church. A woman of great faith, she will be remembered as a strong and very gracious lady who had a great sense of humor and a joyful spirit. It was her request that her body be donated to science. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 9, at 1 p.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Houma. Special thanks to the staff of GCFTS for their care and kindness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Pellegrin; parents, Andre Waguespack and Armantine Landry Waguespack; son, David Louis Pellegrin; granddaughter, Shanna Marie Pellegrin; brother, Andre Joseph Waguespack; and aunt, Wina Waguespack. Née à Madawaska, Maine en 1942, elle était fille de feu Ligourie Michaud et de feu Domithilde Lizotte, Outre son époux, elle laisse dans le deuil un fils, Steven (Marise) de Drummond, deux filles, Sandra (Léopold Paré) de Grand-Sault et Carole (Paul Moreau) de Saint-André, six petits-enfants, deux soeurs, Verna Morin de Madawaska, Maine et Blanche Michaud de Biddeford, Massachusetts, ainsi que des neveux et nièces. Elle a été précédée par deux frères, Gene et Pitre, trois soeurs, Rolande. Joséphine et Soune. La dépouille mortelle est exposée au salon Guy O’Regan, 515, boul. Everard Daigle à Grand-Sault. Ella Mathilde Grinke Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Peacefully on Sunday, February 27, 2005, Ella Grinke passed away at the Victoria Hospital. She was predeceased by her sister Emma; and brothers Leopold and Frederick. Ella is survived by sisters Irene Knowlton, Laura Hermonat, Dorothy McKenzie, Evelyn Aikman and Joan Vincent. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Born in Winnipeg in 1913, Ella spent her early years attending Pinkam and Maple Leaf Schools. Ella worked at Paulin Chambers where she was a manager for 47 years, retiring in 1978. Ella joined the Waacs from 1943-1946 and became a Lieutenant, spending most of three years at Camp Shilo. Ella's enjoyment was with family, many nieces and nephews to whom she was so kind. Ella enjoyed her life, especially with her friends that she played poker with every month. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi. In the early 1960's, she bought a cottage at Matlock and it was there that many happy days were spent. The annual Paulins picnic was another big event for the family and Ella enjoyed having them at it, as she was involved in the organizing. She also enjoyed traveling and had many trips to see her brother Fred perform. Life was good to Ella, but more than that, Ella was our life and we are going to miss the caring and loving that she gave to us all. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Thank you to Dr. Stanley Eng and the staff at the Victoria Hospital for their care and concern. USHER-JONES, Gordon Raymond. Jeffrey, Adrianne and Fraser are saddened to announce the sudden passing of their beloved father. Gordon died peacefully in his sleep in Tuscon, Arizona on March 30, 2005. LARONDE, Anne (Beneke) In loving memory of Anne (Beneke) Laronde, 73 years who passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 1st, 2005 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital (St. Joseph's Health Centre). Daughter of the late Peter and of the late Lillian (née Robertson) Beneke. She was born in Elk Lake and was raised in the Kenabeek/Kirkland Lake areas. She met and married Sylvester Laronde (predeceased 1980) in 1957, and settled in Chelmsford. Anne will always be remembered for her cheery smile and dedicated work ethic at the Chelmsford Loeb, and as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 553, Chelmsford. She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her children, Paul (Lori) of Waterloo and Patty (Fred Taylor) of Azilda. "Grammy's" fond memory will live on forever in the hearts of her precious grandchildren: Jessica, Lindsey, Corey and Brandyn and dear friends: Ruth Heaslip, Helene Fletcher, Laurette Brisson as well as Dale and Lois Richards.
