Aux soins palliatifs du CHUL, le 27 mars 2005, dimanche de Pâques, est décédée dame Jeanne d’Arc Paradis, de la maladie de Parkinson. Elle a oeuvré tout au cours de sa vie comme maître coiffeur à la direction des salons Sheppard et Casot et comme artiste peintre, un talent qui a débuté au couvent Notre-Dame de Lévis et qu’elle a perfectionné sous l’égide du professeur Maurice Lebon, jusqu’au décès de ce dernier. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses soeurs: Pierrette (Julien Rosa) et Charlotte (pharmacienne), son frère le docteur Bernard (Jeannine Bibeault); sa belle-soeur Joan Richardson (feu le docteur Jacques), sa cousine très près d’elle Marcelle Garon (Armand Picard); ainsi que les neveux et nièces suivants: Louise, Evelyne et Lucie (famille Dr Bernard Paradis), Catherine, François et Pierre (famille Julien Rosa), Danille, Dr Richard, Michel et Marthe (famille feu Jean-Marie Paradis et Françoise Gagnon), Andrée, Lise et David (famille feu Dr Jacques Paradis) ainsi que Christine, Jean et Bruno (feu Claude Bernier et Marie Antoinette Paradis) avec lesquels elle a vécu plusieurs années. John "Jack" Harold Brownell June 06, 1937 - February 12, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Lower Sackville) BROWNELL, John Harold "Jack" - 67, Fall River, passed away at home surrounded by all who loved him, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in Saint John, N.B., he was a son of the late Arthur Brownell and Hazel (MacCallum) Brownell. Jack was a champion to all who needed him. His leadership and caring attitude has supported his family, friends and many charities that he has encountered. He was the visionary, the genius and the heart of the family. His special blend of strength, determination and love was apparent to everyone he touched. Jack was one of the first Queen's Scouts in Canada, a feat he remained proud of throughout his life. In later years, he became involved with Scouts Canada once again, working with the youth and leaders of 2nd Wellington and the Basin Lakes Service Team. He was a Board Member with Ward 5 Community Centre and an avid supporter of the Optimists' Club. Jack was a very active member of the CBC Pensioners' Association and was currently serving a term as President, Halifax Region as well as the region representative for the National Pensioners' Association. The Pensioners' were strong supporters of a variety of charities, including the Halifax Optimists' Club, Hope Cottage and Metro Food Bank. He worked tirelessly to address pension inequities and educate the members of the Pensioners' Association. Jack worked at CBC for 35 years and retired as Manager Technical Services. He and Claire then bought and developed Frame Plus Art where they could spend their time working together and leave a legacy for their family. Jack was the eldest of seven and is survived by sisters, Mary (Bruce) Tower, Moncton, N.B.; Anne (Brian) Stott, Blandford; Elizabeth (John) Pettipas, Moncton, N.B.; brothers, Beverley, Wainflect, Ont.; William (Donna), Beaver Bank; Arthur (Maureen), Welland Port, Ont. He will be forever remembered and terribly missed by his soul mate, wife and partner, Claire (Brunt); daughters, Darlene (Gerald) Burgess, Lynn (Bill) Metham, Jacqueline (Tyrone) Fitzmorris, and son John, all of Fall River; grandchildren, William, Joey, Kyle, Nicholas, Samantha, Danielle, Travis, and Matthew; great-granddaughter, Allissa. His legacy will continue through his family. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, where visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16. PAQUETTE, Denis Rédemptoriste 1913-2005 À notre infirmerie de Montréal, le 30 mars 2005, après une longue maladie, à l'âge de 91 ans, est décédé le Père Denis Paquette. Né le 7 mai 1913 à Taftville, É.-U., il fit profession religieuse le 15 août 1935. Sa vie missionnaire commença en 1935 au Viet-Nam, où il fut ordonné prêtre à Hanoï en 1941; il demeura au Viet-Nam jusqu'à son expulsion en 1975. De 1976 à 1986, missionnaire en Uruguay; par la suite missionnaire au Canada. Ses dernières années se sont passées à notre infirmerie en priant pour tous ses bons amis convertis et autres. Il laisse dans le deuil, outre sa famille religieuse, plusieurs soeurs et frères, nièces et neveux, et de nombreux amis. Funérailles en l'église St-Alphonse d'Youville, le samedi 2 avril à 1 1 heures. Damase Bard, 90, of East Hartford, died peacefully on Wednesday (March 30, 2005) at his home. He was the loving husband of the late Jeanne (Perron) Lajeunesse Bard and Marie (Faucher) Bard. He was born in New Canada Plantation, ME on February 2, 1915, a son of the late Henry and Modeste (Gauvin) Bard, and had resided in East Hartford for the past 42 years. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army-Blue Devils 88th Division and was a recipient of the Purple Heart when he was wounded in Italy. Prior to his retirement Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford employed him for over 28 years as a carpenter. He was a member of the Pratt & Whitney Retirees Club and a faithful communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford. Ronald P. Fontaine, 67, of Londonderry, died March 28, 2005, in his home. Mr. Fontaine was born in Danvers, Mass. on Jan. 8, 1938, a son of the late Raymond and Cecile (Lemieux) Fontaine. He was a resident of Londonderry for the past 32 years, and formerly lived in Beverly, Mass. He was a graduate of St. John's Prep School in Danvers, Mass., Class of 1957, and a graduate of Boston College, Class of 1961, with a bachelor of science degree in finance. He served 20 years with the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. Mr. Fontaine was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed tying his own flies. He was a communicant of St. Jude Parish in Londonderry.He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jeannine S. (Bossie) Fontaine of Londonderry; one son, Jonathan R. TOWNSEND -- Patricia C. (Godfrey) LaPointe, 76, of Townsend, a former longtime Westford resident who had worked in that town at a printing company, died Monday, March 28, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Gerald J. LaPointe, to whom she was married for 57 years.She was born in Boston, on April 17, 1928, daughter of Walter and Lillian (Lawrence) Godfrey. She grew up in Boston's Charlestown, and lived in Salem, Mass., and Westford for many years before moving to Townsend three years ago.Mrs. LaPointe worked at the Webster Plastics Co., and Salem, Mass., and Connie McCarthy Furniture Store in Boston's Charlestown. Before retiring in 1990, she worked for 18 years at Murray Printing Co. in Westford.Besides her husband, her survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra M. Thompson of Westford, Linda M. and Charles Swarms of Merrimac, Mass., and Kimberley S. and Steven Fales, with whom she resided in Townsend; and two granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Amanda Fales, both of Townsend. David P. Grise, 87, of Mill St., Southington, passed away on Thursday, (March 31, 2005) at The Summit at Plantsville. He was the husband of the late Anne (Sullivan) Grise. David was born in Southington on August 25, 1917, and was the son of the late David J. and Mary (Flynn) Grise. He had served in the US Army in the Pacific in World War II. Dave had been an engineer employed by General Electric Co. and retired from there, was at one time a member of the Southington Board of Finance and was active with youth sports in Southington. He had also been parishioner of St. Thomas Church. David will be known by his family and friends as a " Great husband, father and grandfather". Dave is survived by his two son's and a daughter, Dr. David (Duke) Grise of Hartford, Joseph M. and his wife Cheryl W. Grise of West Hartford, and Lynnette A. Grise of Milford along with grandson's Jared J. Grise of Hartford, and Joseph M. Grise of W. Hartford. The funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St. in Southington. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Yvonne (Heroux) Gagnon, 101, of Manchester died March 31, 2005 at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born in Providence, RI on December 8, 1903, she was the daughter of Onesime and Exilda (Bibeau) Heroux. She lived most of her life in Greenland and had also lived in Portsmouth and Lowell, MA before moving to Manchester in 1989. While in Manchester she lived at Myrtle Manor for several years before moving to Mt. Carmel Nursing Home in the mid 1990’s. Mrs. Gagnon was a mill worker at Manchester area mills. She was married to Arthur Gagnon who died in 1961. The family includes a son, Roger F. Gagnon of Bradenton, FL; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. LAURENTIA S. MAGNAN -- ST. ALBANS — After a life of caring for others, Miss Laurentia S. Magnan, age 91, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, in the Holiday House Residential Care Home. She was born in St. Alexis, Quebec, July 27, 1913, daughter of the late Leonidas and Anna (Perrault) Magnan. She spent most of her life as a homemaker for herself, her family and others. She is survived by her two sisters, Monica Lemnah of Greenville, N.C., and Gertrude Sweeney of Jeffersonville; her brother, Henry Magnan and his wife Loretta of Fairfield; sister-inlaw Loretta Magnan of Montpelier; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents; her sisters, Gabrielle Boudrais and Rose Anna Duval; her brothers, Napoleon, Odilon, Euclide, and Leonidas Magnan. He was born September 28, 1922 in Thompson, son of the late Alfred and Dorella (Rondeau) Boutin.Emil was a well know Car Salesman in the area for over 50 years, working for Cormier Larrrow Chrysler, 22 years, Gomes Chrysler, five years, Mathew Ford, 22 years and Disch Chrysler. He also worked for the Grosvenordale Co., Lawrence Blanket Mill, Belding Hemmingway Die House, Jules Home Supply, and Prefab Built Homes. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Men's and Women's Basketball. He was a well known Square Dance caller for over 40 years, and he liked to play solitaire. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and a former member of 16 years of the Pomfret Democratic Town Committee and had served as chairman.He leaves in addition to his wife two daughters: Sandra Poirier and her friend Chuck of Hereford, PA; Pamela Romanella and her friend Mike of Westerly, RI; a son: James Boutin and his friend Aurora of Westerly; 7 grandchildren: Scott; E'Lisa; Kaitlyn; Nicklaus; Brianna: Alexis; Carrie; 2 greatgrandchildren: Eva; Gaige; his former wife: Louise Richard, nine stepchildren; eleven stepgrandchildren; a stepgreatgrandchild; many nieces, nephews and friends. HOULTON - Thelma N. Raymond, 81, died March 31, 2005, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born March 10, 1924, at Glenburn, the daughter of Irving and Katie (Foster) Pomeroy. Thelma was a member of the Saint Mary's of the Visitation Church. She worked side by side with her husband, Sylvio as the owner and operator of Chadwick's Florist for 34 years. She is survived by her five loving children, Sylvio Raymond Jr., and his wife, Dr. Laurel Pinales of New Limerick, Mary Beaulieu and her husband, Francis, of West Rutland, Vt., Paul Raymond of Houlton, Patricia Fisher and her husband, Randall, of Lewiston, Mike Raymond and his wife, Sharon, of Houlton; 13 grandchildren, Sylvio III, Tim, Peter, Greg, Chrissy, Lori, Mathew, Jeff, Bruce, Karen, Ross, Bethany and Erica; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harrison Pomeroy of Glenburn; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Sylvio in 2000. Thelma shared her love of life with all those she came in contact with. She provided unconditional love to her husband, children and other special persons in her life. She will be deeply missed! Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Dunn Funeral Home.
