Philomène Gionet l'Acadie Nouvelle - 9 février 2005 POINTE-VERTE – À l’Hôpital régional Chaleur de Bathurst, le lundi 7 février 2005, à l’âge de 92 ans, est décédée Philomène Gionet, domiciliée à Pointe-Verte. Née à Pointe-Verte, elle était fille de feu Adelard Guitard et de feu Marguerite Thompson. Elle laisse dans le deuil sa nièce, Anita Perron (Luc) avec qui elle demeurait; un fils, Gérald Noël (Violet) d’Allardville; un frère, Amedée (Alvina) de Bathurst; quatre soeurs: Jeanne Aubé de Pointe-Verte, Roseanne Gallagher et Marguerite Doucet, toutes deux de Bathurst et Germance Comeau de Montréal, Qc; plusieurs petits-enfants, arrière-petits-enfants, neveux et nièces, ainsi qu’une grande amie, Solange Lagacé de Pointe-Verte. Mme Gionet a travaillé pour «Company Pantel» Haute Couture à Montréal pendant 20 ans. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à compter de 19h, le mercredi 9 février, à la Maison funéraire Héritage, 270, rue Centre à Beresford (www.elhatton.com). Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Vincent-de-Paul de Pointe-Verte, le jeudi 10 février, à 16h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial, au printemps. Les arrangements funéraires ont été confiés aux soins professionnels de la Maison funéraire Héritage de Beresford.

OBITUARY VIRGINIA WELLS MELBOURNE Virginia Wells Melbourne, eighty-six, passed away February 5, 2005, at her home in Durham, NC. Born in Montreal, Canada, in 1918, she was the daughter of the late Mary Fair Wells and Thomas Gavine Wells. Following her marriage in New York to the Foreign Service officer, Roy Melbourne, she had postings to Rumania, Iran, Switzerland, Finland, Iraq and the Washington area. She followed her husband in retirement to Newberry College, South Carolina and then to North Carolina, where Roy was diplomat-in-residence at Duke University. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, April Virginia Melbourne. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Roy Malcolm Melbourne of Durham, NC; daughters Lucy Lauretta Melbourne of Raleigh, NC, Janice Melbourne Chalaron of Rocky Mount, NC, and Hope Emily Melbourne of Seymour, Conn.; her sister, Gavine Wells Turley and brother, Thomas Wells of Montreal; and six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Raleigh, NC, February 10. Interment will be in the Foreign Service section of Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington, D.C. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carolina Ballet, 3401-131 Atlantic Ave., Raleigh, NC, 27604. Cremation Society of the Carolinas is serving the Melbourne family. Wilbert Paul Liebelt January 08, 1934 - February 04, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Regina Funeral Home LIEBELT – Wilbert. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our loving husband, brother and uncle, Wilbert Paul Liebelt who passed away on Friday, February 4, 2005. Wilbert was born January 8, 1934 at Neidpath. He was predeceased by his parents William and Lydia Liebelt, step-father Pete Klassen, brother Victor, father-in-law Nick Bogdan, and niece Michelle Hull. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Gilbertha, brother Nels (Helen) Liebelt of Brooks, sisters Violet (Norman) Carleton of Regina, and Myrtle (Corrie) Bergen of Calgary, mother-in-law Flossie Bogdan of McLean, brothers-in-law Gordon (Kay) Bogdan, Allan (Adeline) Bogdan, Larry Bogdan, sisters-in-law Marie (Larry) Wiggins, Shirley (Ken) Elder, and 52 nephews and nieces. Wilbert was a skilled journeyman carpenter, building many houses in Swift Current, Regina and several other places in Southern Saskatchewan. Then, in 1974 he and Gilly ventured into a life of farming at Francis which he enjoyed very much and he was always looking forward to seeding another crop in the spring…the eternal optimist. He could always be heard whistling a happy tune while he worked. He was very fond of children and they very much loved him in return. He enjoyed many different sports as a participant, and later, as a spectator. Heartfelt thanks go out to Dr. Dickson and the Doctors and Staff at the Regina General Hospital. LUNENBURG -- Harold A. Daoust, 86, of 203 West Townsend Road, died Monday, Feb. 7, in the Highlands, Fitchburg, after a short illness. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on Sept. 14, 1918, the son of the late Leo and Rose (Lashua) Daoust and had lived in Lunenburg since 1952. In the 1950’s, Mr. Daoust started working as a stationary fireman at the former Crocker-Burbank and James River Paper Company, over the years he received his 3rd class engineering license and retired as a stationary engineer in 1980. He was a member of the Rollstone Congregational Church in Fitchburg. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His hobbies also included gardening, farming, art and bird feeding.Mr. Daoust leaves his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Ruth E. (McAskill) Daoust of Lunenburg; three sons, John H. “Jack” Daoust and his wife, Angela, of Leominster, Glen M. Daoust and his wife, Maureen, of Ashburnham, and Richard A. Daoust and his wife, Monica, of Yardley, Pa.; a daughter, Cheryl A. Colecchi and her husband, Stephen, of Alexandria, Va.; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a half brother, Bernard Glenny of Leominster. DAOUST -- On Feb. 7, Harold A. Daoust, 86, of Lunenburg. CARRINGTON, John Henry "Jack" Peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Monday, February 7, 2005, Jack Carrington at the age of 79; husband of Irene Mary (nee Williams); loving father to John (Joan) Carrington, Tom (Elizabeth) Carrington, Dick (Jana) Carrington, all of Windsor, Barbara (Randy) Novosad of Cambridge and Shirley (Doug) Cater of Waterford. KEECH A resident of R.R. #4 Merlin, D. Randall (Randy Rimmer) Keech, passed away while vacationing in Alberta, at the age of 49, on Sunday, February 6, 2005. Leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Debra, and his son, Jesse, and his daughter, Katie. Son of Olga Keech and the late Roy Keech (Jan. 2005). He was a member of the Ontario Principal's Council, an Agent at Deerbrook Realty, a member of the Windsor Real Estate Board and had been associated with Scouts Canada, The Windsor Minor Hockey Assoc. and the Windsor Power Squadron. Dolores J. (Fazekas) Girard, age 71, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Roger D. Girard, entered eternal life on Monday, February 7, 2005, at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Facility, Stratford. Mrs. Girard was born on April 29, 1933, in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Frank and Julia (Jacobs) Fazekas, and had been a lifetime area resident. She was employed at Station House Square Restaurant and most recently at Arts, both in Stratford Center. She was the co-founder and former owner of Imperial Package Store of Milford. Survivors include her three daughters, Gina Marie Collins of West Roxbury, Mass., Louise Roach of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Suzette J. Girard of Stratford; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Thursday, February 10, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. WHITE, Shirley Marie (Murphy) 1932-2005 Fearfully, this vessel may not weather another storm; so I now bid my fond farewells to: Westport, my home for twenty years and all who influenced my growth and nurtured my spirit; my colleagues at the Bank of Montreal in Kingston where I spent a short time; the community at Black Lake near Stanleyville which entrusted its children to me for the two years I taught there; the staff, students and parents of Elizabeth Park Public School R.C.A.F. Uplands for t hree good years; Kingston for the last forty-six years and the staff, students and parents of the Frontenac Lennox and Addington County Roman Catholic Separate School Board where I was influenced by so many wonderful people who enriched my soul and m ade my journey smoother; the many health workers and family who have treated me with kindness, dignity and respect; and the many people who repaired and maintained our home. You know who you are, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. May we me et again. Shirley died peacefully on February 4, 2005 at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital surrounded by her family after a life of caring and generosity. She will be deeply missed by husband Frank, son Steve, daughters Cathy and Anne (Robert Mackett) and grandchildren Michael, Stephen and Katie. Shirley will be sadly missed by sisters Ena, Connie, Kaye and Anne and by her brother Chris. She was predeceased by her parents W.K. and Marj Murphy and by her brother Gary. Blandine Sweeney (née Bellavance) October 23, 1906 - February 06, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Desjardins Funeral Chapel BLANDINE SWEENEY (Nee BELLAVANCE) Peacefully on February 06, 2005, our loving mother passed away at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 98. Mom, the youngest of ten was born in Delmas, SK. She married dad in 1927. Along with raising their family of four, they established their first business in Highgate, SK. In the late 1940’s they moved to La Salle, MB and later to St. Pierre-Jolys. In 1966 they retired to St. Boniface. Soon afterward, in order to be closer to their grandchildren in Montreal and New York, they decided to live down East. Upon dad’s death she returned to Winnipeg. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Edwin in 1990. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Pauline Folliet (Louis, deceased), Gilberte, Janet Swartvagher (Claude, deceased) and Owen (Tamara), nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and Liam her great-great-grandson. She will also be missed by the numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Leslie Tsai her great-niece, who was as close as a granddaughter, for the love she shared with Mom. Our sincere thanks to Dr. P.G. Mehta who provided her with the long-term support that ensured her independence. Special thanks to the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and, especially in Emergency and staff at 6A South in St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion last week.
