Emilija Hertl Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Emilija Hertl, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 4, 2005 at Luther Home, with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers and sisters; her son-in-law Vinko and two great-grandchildren Adam and Megan. Emilija will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Gabrijela Anderlic; grandchildren, Andrej (Cheryl), Jernej (Terri) and Anna and great-grandchildren, Amanda, Jason, Jared and Rebecca. Emilija was a very religious person, dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes (Slovenian Church). She was very passionate about gardening and her flowers. Everyone knew her as Babica. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Luther Home for their loving and passionate care given to Babica during her stay there. We would also like to thank the many friends who visited Babica. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, February 7, at Our Lady of Lourdes (Slovenian Church), 95 MacDonald Avenue, celebrated by Father Stan Gacek. Marga Okken (née Keuhl) January 27, 1929 - February 06, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Southland Funeral Chapel Marga passed away, at the age of 76, after a lengthy illness on the morning of Sunday, February 6, 2005. Marga will be sadly missed by her husband John, their children; Carola Friesen (Allan), Joanne Lebel (Stephen), and John Okken (Nicola); and their five grandchildren Gordon Lebel, Caitlin Friesen, Lorianne Lebel, Jordan Okken and Christopher Okken. Marga was predeceased by her mother, Gretchen Kuehl. Marga was born in Hamburg, Germany on January 27, 1929 and grew up in Barmstedt. She immigrated to Canada with her husband John in 1958 and eventually settled in Coalhurst, Alberta. Marga was very active in her community being a member of the Home and School Assn. as her children grew up and later was an active member of the 55+ Club. Marga especially enjoyed her family, her needlecraft, and her community of friends. Joan had a zest for life and a wonderful sense of humour that attracted people to her. She enjoyed meeting new people and cherished her friends. Joan had a warm smile and a kind heart that gave joy and comfort to others. She was a caring, supportive and above all, loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Blandine Sweeney (née Bellavance) October 23, 1906 - February 06, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Desjardins Funeral Chapel BLANDINE SWEENEY (Nee BELLAVANCE) Peacefully on February 06, 2005, our loving mother passed away at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 98. Mom, the youngest of ten was born in Delmas, SK. She married dad in 1927. Along with raising their family of four, they established their first business in Highgate, SK. In the late 1940’s they moved to La Salle, MB and later to St. Pierre-Jolys. In 1966 they retired to St. Boniface. Soon afterward, in order to be closer to their grandchildren in Montreal and New York, they decided to live down East. Upon dad’s death she returned to Winnipeg. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Edwin in 1990. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Pauline Folliet (Louis, deceased), Gilberte, Janet Swartvagher (Claude, deceased) and Owen (Tamara), nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and Liam her great-great-grandson. She will also be missed by the numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Leslie Tsai her great-niece, who was as close as a granddaughter, for the love she shared with Mom. Our sincere thanks to Dr. P.G. Mehta who provided her with the long-term support that ensured her independence. Special thanks to the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and, especially in Emergency and staff at 6A South in St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion last week. BOURGET, ROSE AIMEE, 92, formerly of 547 Clinton St., Woonsocket, died Monday in the Friendly Home in Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Elphege Bourget. Mrs. Bourget was born in St. Aimee PQ Canada a daughter of the late Jean Baptiste and Doria (Dagesse) Laplante. She was a textile worker in various area mills for forty-five years retiring in 1974. During WWII, Mrs. Bourget was a riveter and welder at Quonset Ship Yard and was well known as Rosie the Riveter. She was a member of the Kennedy Manor Club, St. Joseph Sr. Citizens, the former St. Ann's Ladies Guild, Les Dames de St. Anne and a member and officer of the former Deluxe Sporting Club.Mrs. Bourget is survived by a son Paul A. Bourget of Woonsocket, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Br. Faustin Laplante, CSC, Ephrem, Laurier, Leopold, Rene and Laurent Laplante, Cecile Beausoleil, Therese Tessier and Rita Lepine.Her funeral will be held Thursday at 10:00 from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 in All Saints Church, Rathbun St., Woonsocket. Lucille Monfils, 96, Green Bay, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005. She was born May 30, 1908, to the late Alex and Matilda (Rouse) LaPlant in Green Bay. In 1979, she married Al Euteneuer, he preceded her in death. MIELTY, Ruth In loving memory of Ruth Mielty, 81 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Friday morning, February 4th, 2005 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre. She was born in Azilda, Ontario in the family sauna January 12th, 1924 and married Matti Mielty on June 16th, 1946 in Copper Cliff. A long time Sudbury resident, she worked as executive secretary for the Tuberculosis Association, was employed by the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and was head of the clerical staff in the Inspectors Office at the Sudbury and District Health Unit. Her faith was important to her and she turned to prayer as help for family and friends. She has been an active member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and was treasurer of the church's building fund. She was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent, sang in the choir, was a council member and a member of the Ladies Groups. As a "grandma" to Greg and Scott, and a "mumma" to Ethan, she cherished the times spent with her grandsons. She was one of her children's and grandchildren's greatest fans, in any of their pursuits. She was an "armchair" sports fan who loved to watch curling, figure skating and the Blue Jays on TV. She enjoyed interacting with people of all ages, and always made sure she fed her visitors. She was the wife of Matti, predeceased September 30th, 1998, and is survived by her children, Diane Laamanen (Henry) of Sudbury, Dennis Mielty (Kim) of Toronto and her grandsons, Greg Laamanen (friend Jessica), Scott Laamanen (friend Sarah) and Ethan Mielty and predeceased by her infant granddaughter Sinclair Mielty in the year 2000. Dear daughter of Kusti and Sanna (Hangas) Kantola predeceased. Dear sister of Vieno Poulin, Linda Joki and Toivo Kantola all predeceased. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families, as well as relatives in Ohio, Michigan and Finland. LEWISTON - Constance L. Myrand, 81, a resident of 24 Perley St., died Monday morning at her residence following a long illness.She was born in Lewiston, Feb. 24, 1923, the daughter of Edmond and Lydia (Levesque) Leblanc. She attended Lewiston schools, and was a 1941 graduate of Lewiston High School. She was also a member of Holy Family Church, the Ladies of St. Ann, and a former Girl Scout Leader.She enjoyed traveling, reading, and was dedicated most of her life to taking care of her family. She was a loving daughter, wife, and mother.Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Young of Ogunquit, and Martha Griffen and her husband, Rick, of Kennebunkport; two sons, John and Peter Myrand, both of Lewiston; one brother, Vincent Leblanc of Sabattus; and also three grandchildren, Lydia and Alexis Griffin, and Vincent Myrand.She was predeceased by her husband, John G. Myrand, in December 1995.

Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Harmon Roger and Elizabeth Margaret (Henderson) Curran. Stanley was employed with CPR for 43 years before his retirement. He also operated a TV repair business for over 30 years. Died February 6, 2005 in Cowichan District Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband David in 1976. She is lovingly remembered by daughters Christine (Ken) and Gillian (Norm) and grandsons Erik and Mark. She is also survived by sisters Edith, Cicely and Margaret; nieces Dorothy, Alison and Penelope and their children. Irene was a primary teacher for many years at St. Pauls School in Esquimalt and at Norfolk House School in Victoria. She lived at Prospect Lake before moving to Duncan in 1976. She was an independent lady to the end. Many thanks to the staff of 2 North & South for their loving care. A special thank you to her loving friend Pam Clement for all her support.
