ELIZABETH (BETTY) BESSETTE BURLINGTON — Elizabeth (Betty) Bessette, 73, died peacefully Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, in the Vermont Respite House in Williston. Betty was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Colchester, the daughter of the late Joseph D. and Mary Sweeney Bessette. She is survived by two sisters, Florence Wolcott of Milton and Helen Lavee of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Edward Bessette of Colchester and Raymond Bessette of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; many nieces, nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, George and John Bessette; and two sisters, Isabelle Griffith and Hazel Raymond. There will be no funeral services and interment will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston, Vt. 05495. CORNELL, Albertina (Morand) Peacefully at Hay Bay Retirement Home on Saturday, January 29, 2005 in her 91st year. Predeceased by her husband Ernest Edward Cornell in 1981. Survived by daughter, Pamela Ann Cornell, of Kingston and granddaughter Anthea Mary Jackson (Matt Ward) of New York City. Born July 17, 1914 in London, England, she was the daughter of the late Sigmund and Rosalia (Kissling) Morand, from Nuglar - St. Pantaleon, Switzerland. Bertie came to Canada as a war bride in 1945 and live d most of her life in Morrisburg, Ontario, where she received a special award for her volunteer contributions as a Brownie and Girl Guide leader, a member of two choirs, a teaching assistant at St. Mary's separate School, and general all-round friend ly, helpful person. She moved to Kingston to live with her daughter in 1993, and into a retirement home in 2000. A tree-planting and celebration of her life will take place in the spring. CONNIE (ASHTON) TROMBLEY-- ESSEX JUNCTION — Connie (Ashton) Trombley of Essex Junction passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior at her home surrounded by her loving family Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, after a brief illness. Connie, (Mom, Nana) was born May 23, 1929, in Essex, the youngest child of Gordon and Theophita (Beauregard) Ashton. She attended Essex schools. On Feb 7, 1948, she married Joseph Trombley. He predeceased her on May 15, 2004. Mom loved her home and acres in the center of Essex Junction, where she raised her large and loving family. Her seven children, 21 grand- children, and three greatgrandchildren are a living testament to her love and devotion. Mom was our safety net, always there with open heart and arms. Connie enjoyed bingo and her bimonthly luncheons with her daughter Donna and friend Cathy Oneil. She combined her love of travel and strong faith into seven pilgrimages to the Holy Land. She is survived by three sons and four daughters, Donna Demag and her husband David of Colchester, David and Linda Trombley of St. Albans, Susan Guertin of Burlington, Peter Trombley, Debby Beaudoin, Michael and Dale Trombley, and Darlene Littlefield and her fiancee Bill Falls, all of Essex; 21 grandchildren, Vicki Demag, Dennis and Darlene Demag, Stephen and Jessica Trombley, Amber and Greg Klimas, Nathan and Ruth Piotrowski, Wendy, Daniel, Derek, and Kimberly Guertin, Jason, Josh, Julia, Jared and Kaila Trombley, Justin Rachel and Michael Beaudoin, Mandy, Kyle, Michele and Abby Trombley, Jackie Littlefield, and soon to be grandchildren, Bethany, Zachary and Hayley Falls; three great-grandchildren, Zachary and Austin Demag, and Alyson Trombley; Connie's brother, Gardner and wife Nat of Florida, brother, Donald and wife June of Massachusetts; and many beloved nephews, nieces, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph on May 15, 2004; her first grandson, David Demag on Feb. 5, 2003; her sonin-law, Steven Beaudoin on April 8, 2001; and sister, Glenna Zeno in 1983. Following her wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A celebration of her life will be held at her home in Essex Junction, Wednesday, Feb. 2, from 2 p.m. until early evening. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, in St. Lawrence Catholic Church on West Street in Essex Junction. ROBARGE, MRS. ARLENE M. Grand Haven -- Mrs. Arlene Marie Robarge passed away at age 70, January 30, 2005 in Grand Haven, MI. For the past eight years she endured Alzheimer's disease with grace, strength, and dignity. The former Arlene Rahrig married Jack Robarge on October 8, 1960 in Muskegon, MI. Jack preceded her in passing on May 8, 1993. Arlene grew up in the Lakeside area of Muskegon and was a member of St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church were she remained active throughout her life. Her professional career began at Teledyne Continental Motors as a secretary where she met Jack. While raising her family, Arlene was active in various pursuits including volunteer work as a campaign coordinator for Cystic Fibrosis; she also made and installed draperies for Ethan Allen Concord House. Once her children were grown she spent numerous hours as a caregiver. Arlene also had a great love of music. She enjoyed singing in the parish choir and was a member of the Muskegon Chamber of Choir. Her other hobbies included sewing, knitting, taking walks with Jack, and most of all, caring for her family. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jacquelyn (Eric) Toth of Norton Shores, MI; three sons, Michael Robarge of Norton Shores, MI, Jon Robarge of Detroit, MI, and Scott (Jennifer) Robarge of San Francisco, CA; one brother, Eugene (Kay) Rahrig of Muskegon, MI; and one sister, Mrs. Gloria (Robert) Keil of Muskegon, MI; one grandson, Colin Toth of Norton Shores, MI. Angus R. MacInnis 1920-2005 Angus (Gus) R. MacInnis, P.Eng of Hollywood Drive, Moncton, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2005 at the Moncton Hospital at the age of 84. Born in 1920 in Georgeville, Antigonish Co., NS, son of the late Dan A. and Martha (MacEachern) MacInnis. Brought up in New Glasgow, NS, and was a graduate of St. John's Academy and New Glasgow High School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in England and North Africa with the R.C.A.F. He was a graduate of St. F. X. University and the Technical University of Nova Scotia, Halifax in 1951 with a degree in civil engineering. He joined the C.N. Railway in 1951 at Campbellton, and transferred to C.N.H.Q., Montreal in 1953. He later served at Regional Headquarters, Moncton in the operations and marketing departments, retiring in 1984, as Atlantic Region Manager of Freight Services. He was a long time member of the Engineering Institute of Canada, the Beaver Curling Club, and former member of the Magnetic Hill Golf Club, member of the St. F. X. Alumni Association, CN War Vets, CN Pensioners Club, CN Supervisor Association, third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 9372 Holy Family Parish, Moncton. He is survived by a son, Peter (Lucy) of Riverview; daughters, Susan of Ottawa, Kathleen (Dan) McCrimmon of Vancouver; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, in 1997, the former Constance Hagen of Fort Frances, ON; brothers, Alexander, Lauchlin, Leo, Gillis, Donald, Hugh; sisters, Mary, Sarah, Isabel. John enjoyed a career of more than 40 years as a professional driver. He retired after 20yrs of service with BC Transit in 1995. Prior to that he worked for 10 happy years in Southern California driving for Jersey Maid Dairy, with the early years being spent at Old Dutch and 7-up Beverage companies. For the past 5 years John has proudly served as a volunteer Motorman for the Downtown Historic Railway and as Treasurer for the Strata Council where he & Joan reside. John and Joan were married on June 15, 1996 and they have shared the past nine years traveling, spending time with family and friends, and building a wonderful life together. HEBERT, DUSTIN MICHAEL "Jesus said, 'Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.'" Matthew 19:14. A loving son, brother and grandson, he was born July 26, 1984, and died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at age 20. Visitation at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, from 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, until service at noon, conducted by the Rev. Donald Ray. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. He is survived by his father, Donald Glenn "Donny" Hebert Jr. of St. Francisville; mother and stepfather, Sara and Sammy Major of Jarreau; two brothers, Prentice Scott and Briton Jacob Hebert; stepbrother, Christopher Kobleur; grandmothers, Elizabeth Hyde of Pineville and Lou Becicka of Grand Rapids, Minn.; stepgrandmother, Virgie Hebert of Plaquemine; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Donald Glenn Hebert Sr. and Frank Hyde; and stepgrandfather, Keith Becicka. Dustin loved the outdoor life, cars, four-wheelers and his three-wheeler. Pallbearers will be Prentice Wray Hebert, Prentice Scott Hebert, Briton Hebert, Cass Thurman, Kyle Alford and Cory Delette. PARTRIDGE, Stella B., Passed away on January 31, 2005 in her 97th year, at Shaver Hospital where she had been for 6 weeks, formerly a ten year resident of Ina Grafton Gage Home. Stella was the last surviving member of the pioneer family of Wellingto n and Emma Partridge of Crown Hill, Barrie, Ontario. Predeceased by her sisters Anne, Enid, Elexey and Minnie and by her brothers Elmer, Ira, and Percy. Survived by several nieces and nephews including locally Wallace (Patricia) Partridge, Lloyd (Loi s) Brittain, Fred (Beverly) Smythe and Orville (Marilyn) Smythe and her godson Ward Partridge. She was a member of Welland Avenue United Church. HOLYOKE - Wanda (Sanders) Mecteau Howard of Brown Avenue died Monday in Holyoke Hospital. Wanda was born in Oklahoma and has lived in Holyoke most of her life. She leaves a son Wayne Mecteau of Chicopee; a daughter Cynthia Pike of Holyoke; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Another son Michael Mecteau died in 2003. WORCESTER— Jeannette L. (Duchesne) Sullivan, 77, of Worcester, died peacefully Sunday evening surrounded by her loving family at St. Vincent Hospital Medical Center. She leaves six children: Barry and his wife Clare of Auburn, Maureen and her husband Matthew Brown of Worcester, Michael and his wife Nancy of Auburn, Mark and his wife Sharon of Worcester, Patricia, and Jeffery and his wife Kamby of Worcester; 13 grandchildren: Anna, Thomas, Maureen, Catherine, Allison, Ashley, Sean, Ryan, Jennifer, Rebecca, Erin, Lindsay and Shane; and one great grandchild Madison; two brothers, Roger Duchesne of Rutland, VT and Gary Duchesne of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Cecellia Zatrepalek of Edison, NJ and Diane Torrey of Bridport, VT and many nieces and nephews. Her husband of thirty-one years, Francis P. Sullivan, died in 1984. She is also predeceased by a brother, James Duchesne. She was born in Witherbee, NY, daughter of the late Henry Duchesne and Aurore Quesnel. She was raised in Witherbee, NY and Middlebury, VT before coming to Worcester, MA to attend Becker Junior College where she received a degree in accounting. She later attended David Hale Fanning School of Nursing and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Worcester City Hospital for many years before retiring in 1991. Jeannette was a member of St. Peter's Church. She enjoyed gardening and reading. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family at their many gatherings and annual family trips. She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Thursday, Feb 3, 2005 in St. Peter's Church, 929 Main St., Worcester, MA. CHESHIRE -- Robert Joseph Croteau, 58, of South Street died Sunday morning at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield. Born in Springfield on Aug. 29, 1946, son of Felix and Anna Sears Croteau, he attended schools there and was a 1964 graduate of the former Trade High School there. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he served from 1966 until 1968. Mr. Croteau owned and operated Bobcat Painting Co. in Pittsfield, until stopping 1989 because of ill health. He was a member of the Massachusetts Chapter 15 Disabled American Veterans and VFW Post 448 in Pittsfield. He was past president of the SIOGA Club in Pittsfield. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He and his wife, the former Catherine Andrews, were married July 3, 1972. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Robert P. Croteau of Pittsfield; two daughters, Kelly L. Croteau of Deltona, Fla., and Riqui-Anne Wilker of Pittsfield; two stepsons, Mark A. Gilday of Norfolk and Gary T. Gilday of Pittsfield; a brother, Thomas Croteau of Chicopee, eight grandchildren, and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Robert J. Croteau, who died Jan. 30, 2005, will be tomorrow, Feb. 2, at 3 at First Baptist Church, 89 South St., Pittsfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
