Williams: Violet Robson June 19, 1920 - November 10, 2004 Violet Williams (nee Armstrong) passed away in the Drumheller Hospital at the age of 84. She is survived by her loving family, son Terry Williams (Jacquie; daughter Heather Lapham (Bill); and grandchildren, Amber, Jodi, Rob, Sabrina and Danielle; her brother Tom Armstrong (Kay); her sisters Isa Grenier and Ruby Moskie; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her husband Alex in 1985, her son Jack in 1965, step-daughter Barbara in 1985, and her sister Meg who resided in Scotland. Violet was born near Strathmore and was raised on the Pope Lease near Drumheller. She married Alex in 1954 and they lived and raised their family in Drumheller. Violet worked for many years at the Drumheller Hospital taking time off to raise her family and then returning to the hospital to work. Violet cherished her grandchildren and became Grandma Vi to many of the neighbourhood children as well. Her home baked chocolate chip cookies were a favourite of all the "grandchildren." Her favourite place to be was outdoors working in her flower beds. She will be lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of all her family. Funeral services for Violet were held Monday, November 15, 2004 at St. Magloire's Anglican Church. TOFFLEMIRE, Mary Ellen- Mary Tofflemire died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 29, 2004 at Eastholme, Powassan after a long illness with Alzheimer's disease. Mary (Munroe) was the owner and operator of the former Stonehouse Nursing Home in Trout Creek. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Ira Tofflemire, and was the beloved mother of Bob (Lynda) of Orillia, Jayne (Ray Peters) of Callander and Dean (Carol) of Powassan. She was the loving grandmother of seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her brothers Lloyd and Arnold (Jean) Munroe, and is survived by her sister-in-law Alice Munroe. The family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home in Powassan on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Powassan on Thursday at 2 p.m. Interment Trout Creek Union Cemetery. Montreal. Beloved son of the late Oscar Johanson and Eva Cunningham Johanson and brother of the late Birijan Ellis Johanson, beloved father of Margaret Johanson Houlihan and Peter Johanson, father-in-law of Donus Houlihan, grandfather of Aric and Pamela Houlihan and Gerald Johanson, beloved husband of the late Jeannette Fortin Johanson, uncle to Micheline Courcy and brother-in-law to Germaine Courcy, and former husband of Pamela Eileen Packham. CONNOLLY, HAROLD T. - the death of Harold T. Connolly of 9 Brittain Rd., Grand Bay-Westfield, husband of the late Margaret (Greer) Connolly, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, November 29, 2004. Mr. Connolly was born in Saint John, a son of the late James and Margaret E. (Hardy) Connolly. He had been employed as a supervisor with Canada Post until his retirement a number of years ago. He had served overseas with the Royal Canadian Army during the Second World War. He was pre-deceased by a son, Theodore; nine brothers, Daniel, William, Father Frederick, Leonard, John, Leo, Herbert, Francis, and Raymond; and five sisters, Ella, Kathleen, Winnifred, Frances, and Rita. He is survived by one son, James (Doreen) of Fredericton; four daughters, Frances "Peggy" Craggette (Ron) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Mary Thompson (John) of Saint John, Sharon Gray (Doug) of Grand Bay-Westfield, and Terri Connolly (Rob Smith) of Grand Bay-Westfield; one sister, Mary McCann of Saint John; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Church, Westfield, on Wednesday morning at ten o'clock. Riedel: Ivy Grace (nee Wilson) June 8, 1919 ? November 21, 2004 Ivy Grace (Wilson) Riedel passed away peacefully on November 21, 2004 at the age of 85. Ivy was born in Lucerne, BC to Andrew and Grace Evelyn (nee Kemp) Wilson on June 8, 1919. She had one younger brother, Charlie. At the age of 3 the family relocated to Jasper with the railroad, where Ivy lived and attended school. Following high school, Ivy had many jobs including working in a munitions Plant in Oshawa during WWII, gasing planes, housekeeper, nanny, cashier at Woodwards in Edmonton, AB, which is where she met and married Charlie (Carl) Richard Riedel in 1953. The couple moved many times in the first 5 years, finally settling in Aereal, Alberta (Rosedale) in 1959, where they raised their family. Carl worked as a welder and Ivy was a homemaker until Carl?s death in 1971. At that time Ivy became employed at the Corner Café where she worked until retirement. Ivy loved life, people and animals. She especially enjoyed her 10 grandchildren and the time she was able to spend with them. On September 29, 2004 Ivy welcomed her first great granddaughter Kylan Tappen. Ivy was predeceased by her parents Andrew in 1950, Grace in 1997, brother Charlie in 1971, husband Carl in 1971, Sister-in-law Dolly in 1999 and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Ivy leaves to mourn her daughter Brenda (nee Riedel) Tappen, sons Richard (Rick) Riedel (Sylvia) and Darren Riedel (Lucinda), her 10 grandchildren Tanis, Taryn and Trista Tappen, Tanner, Kelsey, Britta and Sydney Riedel, and Christopher, Kyle and Curtis Riedel, great-granddaughter Kylan, nephew Neil Wilson (Mary), great-nieces Niki (Geoff) and Marni, great-nephew Taggart, as well as her special friend Dorothy Walters. Ivy will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 26, 2004 at Knox United Church at 11:00am. After amalgamation of the College with Queen's Univers ity, she moved to Kingston to be an Associate Professor of Primary Methods at Queen's McArthur College, retiring to Peterborough in 1978. EARP, R. Willard (Bill), Formerly of Tillsonburg, passed away peacefully at Linhaven Home in his 88th year, on Nov. 25, 2004. Beloved brother of Elizabeth Foote, St. Catharines and brother-in-law of Doris Earp (Fla.). Loving uncle of Melba Wolf, St. Catharines, Brenda (John) Jones, Thornhill, Larry (Karen), Dianne (Dale) Miller and Carol (Steve) Plice, all of Fla., USA. Also survived by great-nieces Linda, Michele, Connie and Lisa, great-nephew Graham and families in Canada and many more in USA . Predeceased by father Julius Carr (1964), mother Bessie Sybil (1948, sister Christine Magee (1991), Tillsonburg, brother Woodrow (1996), Fla., brothers-in-law Len Magee (1975) and Cecil Foote (1981) and nephew Martin Wolf (1999). Mr. Earp was born legally blind Dec. 22, 1916 in Lynchburg Co., Va. and came to Canada in 1930 from Georgia. During his life he worked hard on the farm in tobacco, the coal yard and the lumber saw mill. For his volunteer work at schools and plays in the region he rece ived many commendations. He attended the Queen St. Baptist Church. Bill was well known in the Tillsonburg area, living there for many years. In the sixties, he moved to St. Catharines living first at the CNIB on Queenston St. When it closed, he moved to John and Mary's which later became Paton Place. After breaking his ankle last Dec., he moved to Linhaven Home. Funeral service was conducted at OSTRANDER'S FUNERAL HOME by Rev. Bryan Butcher of the First Baptist Church on Nov. 27 at 1 p.m. with i nterment at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. He was buried beside his father. The family would like to thank the staff on Secord, especially Donna, Mary Ann, Denise and Flor for their exceptional care of Uncle Bill. LENNOX, John Thomas Elwood - March 1, 1918 - November 27, 2004. Jack Lennox lived in Chippawa for almost all of his ninety-four years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Nora and son John, brothers Clarence and Maurice and sisters Doris and Dorothy. Jack is survived by daughter, Jennifer Young of Toronto, son David and his wife Virginia of Barrie, grandsons Jason (Giananne), and Joshua (Lucy), of Niagara Falls, Chris Roach (Leola) of Windsor, and Andrew Roach of Toronto. As well, Jack leaves brother Gordon and sister Audrey Burroughes of Niagara Falls. Jack was a proud great-grandfather to Jonas and Joshua Lennox and Aurora Buckley. Jack worked for a short time at the Norton Co., served in the R.C.A.F. in WWII in Canada and England, and afterward joined Canada Customs, where he worked until his retirement in 1978. Love for his family and friends and concern for their well-being formed the central core of his being. These qualities made Jack known for his commitment to working for the betterment of his community. He was a founding member of the Chippawa Volunteer Fire Department and the Chippawa Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He held executive positions in several firemen's association, the Welland Co. Co-op Medical Services, the Customs-Excise Officers Association and the Stamford Credit Union. In addition he served four years on the Chippawa Public School Board. He was a lifelong faithful member of Holy Trinity Church, an active participant in most aspects of church life. He leaes behind many grieving family members and valued friends, who will long remember Jack's special qualities of warmth, honesty, loyalty and a capacity for good hard work. GIBBONS, Collette 1952 - 2004 Collette Gibbons, beloved wife of Chris Gibbons of Calgary, passed away at the Rosedale Hospice on Saturday, November 27, 2004, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 52 years. Collette was born on September 11, 1952 in Windsor, ON where she was raised, as well. She married Chris on May 17, 1975 in Ontario and moved to Calgary in February of 1989. Collette enjoyed a long career working with Special Needs children and helping others. She will be remembered for her wonderful outgoing personality and being full of life. Besides being a great wife to her husband Chris, Collette was a wonderful mother to Chris Gibbons Jr. and Jennie Gibbons, both of Calgary. She is also survived by eight siblings, John Paul, Roger, Frank, Richard (Whitey), Janet, Bernard, Phillip, and Michelle; and numerous nieces and nephews. Collette was predeceased by her parents, Rose and Herman Durocher; and brother Norbert.
