Beloved son of Rita and the late Luis Ramirez. Loved Lolo of Jade, Joel, Tyler, Alana, Jalen, Jarel and Nathan. JAMES H. (JIM) COX It is with great sadness that the family of James H. (Jim) Cox announces his passing on Friday, Nov. 12, 2004. Jim was born Aug. 18, 1921 in International Falls, Mn. to the late Bernard and Clara Cox. He lived most of his life in Fort Frances, Ont., where he attended St. Mary’s School and Fort Frances High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Jim worked in the woodlands industry in various capacities during the early part of his career. He was buying wood for the Fort Frances mill in East Braintree, Man. when he met the love of his life, Margaret Perchuk. They were married on April 18, 1951. They lived in East Braintree and Kenora, Ont. for the first years of their marriage. For a brief period, they owned and operated the East Braintree Hotel. In 1961, they moved back to Fort Frances and made their home at his cabin on Frog Creek. They have lived there ever since, raising their family and enjoying the country lifestyle. In 1963, Jim joined Canada Customs, where he worked until his retirement. He greatly enjoyed his career at Customs, including the camaraderie of his fellow workers. He loved to share Marg’s wonderful cooking with them. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Clara; infant daughter, Catherine; brother, Tom; sister-in-law, Ilene; and great-grandson, Colin. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; five children, Bob (Brenda) Cox, Thorrot (Kathy) Cox, Ann Cox, Marian Hyatt (Mark Culhane), and Martha Cox (Martin Martsch); 11 grandchildren, John Cox, Allison Cox, Sunshine Cox (Seth), Blayne Cox (Charla), Jamel Cox, Michelle Tighe (Ron), Roy Tighe (Cher), Lee Hyatt, Virgil Hyatt, Melanie Hyatt, and Dmitiri Martsch; and two great-grandchildren, Destiny and Kendahl Cox. Jim was a gentleman, an intellectual, a collector, and a story-teller. He was deeply kind and sensitive, and incredibly witty. Teasing his grandchildren was one of his favourite amusements. As a young boy, he began collecting stamps and this became a lifelong passion. He also enjoyed collecting records, antique glass, and bottles. He loved to sing and listen to classical music. He was a great outdoorsman and loved being in the woods, especially picking blueberries. He also enjoyed assisting Marg with the gardening, but mostly he loved spending time with his family. He loved to eat, and enjoyed all the family get-togethers and the great meals that were served. He would invent and play games with us as he was the master of “play.” He would spend hours talking, laughing, and listening to all of us. He was devoted to us and leaves us a legacy of unconditional love, understanding and acceptance. He will be forever missed. A private service will be held Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004. CHARLTON, JESSICA L. - The death of Jessica Lynn Charlton of 52 Albert Street, Saint John, occurred on Monday, November 15, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on September 24, 1985, she was the daughter of Barbara Charlton of Saint John. Jessica graduated from St. Malachy's Memorial High School in 2003 and was presently employed as a Customer Sales Representative for RMH Teleservices Inc. Jessica was an avid animal lover and enjoyed spending time with her pets. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Besides her mother, she is survived by her grandmothers, Arlene Carson of Saint John and Stella Barnes of Port-Aux-Basque, NL, aunts and uncles, Lloyd Charlton, Elizabeth Shepherd, Cheryl Shillington, Suzette Sheaves and Paul Barnes and several cousins. Born February 17, 1938 in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Gertrude (Marriott) Swan. Lillian was a lifetime member of Saint James Anglican Church. She enjoyed a night out at the Casino and going to the family camp in Eastville, near Stewiacke. Lillian is survived by her sons, Dale, Tim, both of Kline Heights; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Melissa, Matthew; sisters, Sharon Swan, Halifax; Dorothy (Gordon) Gillis, Halifax; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Gerald (2000). Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, where the family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday. PERKINS, L. BELLE - The death of Lovelette Belle Perkins, of 1100 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West, wife of the late Frank Joseph Perkins, occurred in her 90th year, on Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Campbellton, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Ann (Perry) Clancey. Mrs. Perkins was a member of Central Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Vincent Perkins (Dawn Robichaud) of Saint John, three daughters, Frances O'Connor (Raymond) of Sussex, NB, Donna Gorman (Randolph) of Fredericton, NB and Wendy Erb (Jeffrey) of Calgary, AB, one sister, Marjorie Walton of Dartmouth, NS, 10 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one daughter, Carolyn, two grandchildren, Troy and Jason Gorman and two sisters, Elsie MacKenzie and Olive Galbraith. GLADYS HAMMOND It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gladys Hammond on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances. Ont. Gladys was born Feb. 3, 1924 in Sussex, England to William and Lilian Taylor. She was united in marriage to Donald Hammond on June 24, 1943 in Buxted Parish, Sussex, England. Following the war, she came to Canada with her young son, Michael, to join her husband in Crozier, Ont. Together they settled on the family farm in Crozier, raising six children. Gladys was an avid gardener, taking great pride in keeping her flower beds and lawn immaculate. She especially loved roses and was very successful in growing her own beautiful rose garden. Her talents and creativity were seen in her ceramic work displayed throughout her lawn and given as gifts, in her flower arrangements, and her cake decorating for many birthdays and weddings. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, doing needlework, quilting, reading, and, in earlier years, bowling. She especially enjoyed feeding and watching the many birds attracted to her yard. She also was an excellent cook and many delicious meals were shared with family and friends. Gladys was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind her husband, Donald; children, Michael (Rowena) of Crozier, Ont., Allan (Jan White) of Australia, Rick (Tyra), Edith (John) Bodnar, and Bill (Karen), all of Crozier, Ont., and Lisa (Dave) Pitkanen of Dance Township, Ont.; grandchildren, Michelle, James, Bob, Tara, Karl, Mark, Chris, Darryl, Krista, and Jason; 10 great-grandchildren; and niece and nephew, Sandra and Gordon Williams and their family of Stratton, Ont. Gladys was predeceased by her parents; one sister; and brother and sister-in-law, Alphonse and Irene Doucette. A visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004 from 7 until 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. Pastor Diane Clifford officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances. The pallbearers were her grandsons, Bob Hammond, James Hammond, Karl Bodnar, Mark Bodnar, Christopher Bodnar, Darryl Bodnar, and Jason Hammond. CHARLEBOIS PRUD'HOMME, Agathe (née Prud'homme) 1912-2004, le 6 novembre 2004, à l'âge vénérable de 92 ans, paisiblement à son domicile du Lac-du-Cerf, tante Agathe nous a quittés. Cette femme attachante, au destin peu banal, laisse dans le deuil des générations de femmes et d'hommes qu'elle a élevés dans sa coquette maison de Cité Jardin à Montréal. Outre ses enfants de coeur, elle laisse dans le deuil de nombreux neveux et nièces, ses anciens pensionnaires ainsi qu'une multitude d'amis qui lui vouaient un grand attachement. Ses parents et amis sont donc conviés à une cérémonie commémorative, le samedi 20 novembre à partir de 9 h 30 au complexe funéraire: URGEL BOURGIE ST-FRANÇOIS D'ASSISE URGEL BOURGIE 6700 RUE BEAUBIEN EST MONTRÉAL. Un service à funéraire sera célébré en la chapelle du complexe à 11 heures le samedi 20 novembre. Il y aura une autre célébration de la vie de Tante Agathe en l'église Lac-du-Cerf le dimanche 28 novembre à 11 heures. Un "Au revoir" bien senti à une personne dont le départ laissera un très grand vide.. Un don, en sa mémoire, peut être fait à la S.P.C.A. et, si vous le désirez, vous pouvez apporter qu'une seule fleur.
