MOLNAR, Charles Albert - Suddenly but peacefully, with his family by his side, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Saturday, November 6, 2004, in his 73rd year. A devoted family man, Charles will be sorely missed by his beloved wife Helen, his loving daughter Charlene and her husband Jim Conte, Niagara Falls, loving son Randy and his wife Wendy, Stevensville, Michigan. Proud Papa of Jacquie, Jay and Quincy. Dear brother of Mary Acs and her family. A gifted violinist, Charlie imparted his love of music and brought great joy to many. Before moving to Niagara, Charlie resided in Hamilton where he retired as an electrician with I.B.E.W. Local 105. As a young man he wrestled professionally through out North America. BODNAR, Janet (nee Rondot) It is with great sadness we announce her sudden passing on November 7, 2004 in her 57th year at her home in Tecumseh. Beloved wife of 35 years to Roger. Loving and devoted mother of Leah Hart and husband Chris, of Michigan; Kory Bodnar and fiancee Michelle, of Windsor and children Jacy, Kelsy and Emily. Loving sister to Arthur Rondot, of Windsor. LAIDLAW, Christopher Michael Charles. K22 799 429 Leading Seaman Christopher Michael Charles Laidlaw, born 17 November 1976 weighing 7 lbs 6 oz at the Ottawa Grace Hospital. Mike died 3 November 2004 in Oak Harbor WA while serving at the U.S. Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. He was a TAS OP (Tactical Array Sensor Operator) and later an INT OP (Intelligence Operator) in the Naval Ocean Processing Facility (NOPF). Michael is the precious and beloved son of Dorothy and George and the admired and beloved brother of Meghan. Deeply and fondly remembered by his cousins Genevieve, Rebecca, Allie, Doug, little Mike, Nicole, Tyler, Ted, Christine and Heather and his cat Misty. Precious nephew of Dianne, Paula and Kevin, Bill and Chris, Charles, Rob and Sally, Keith and Douglas. Dearest grandson of Asa Danard and Bess Laidlaw. Mike was also much loved by other family members and his many, many friends. He was a schoolboy at Stephen Leacock and Huntley Centennial Public Schools, a graduate of West Carleton High School, a drafting student at Algonquin College, and a proud sea cadet in RCSCC Falkland for many years. He served nobly and faithfully in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1998 until his death. Mike sailed the seas on HMCS St. John's, HMCS Iroquois and helped out in other ships. He also served dutifully in OP APOLLO in the Gulf War. He is the recipient of the SWASM (South West Asia Service Medal), Marksmanship Awards and has been highly cited and commended for his work. He loved gadgets especially his computer and ancillary equipment, for they opened windows to the world for him and he used his knowledge to help protect Canada, the U.S. and other Nations and to help the computer illiterate around him. Mike was generous, kind, and loving, even to his four footed and winged friends. He was resolutely faithful to the Navy, his principles and beliefs and could be absolutely counted upon to be of assistance whenever summoned. Michael will be sorrowfully missed but will be held close to the bosom of God. Ruby Dodd (née Bakke) November 09, 1910 - November 08, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Regina Funeral Home DODD, Ruby (nee Bakke) passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2004 on the day before her 94th birthday. Born on the family farm in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan on November 9, 1910, Ruby attended high school in Yellow Grass and business school in Weyburn, then worked for the Provincial Government for 9 years until she married George Dodd who predeceased her in 1995. Ruby was Provincial Representative for the Saskatchewan Branch of ACTRA from 1965-73, and was active in the community including the women’s groups of St. Andrews United Church, Whitmore United Church and the RCMP. She loved arts and crafts, square dancing, alley bowling, lawn bowling, swimming and playing bridge. Her life spanned almost all of Regina’s 100 years and she was born the year that the Roughriders, her sports passion, were formed. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Nellie Bakke; her brothers, Morris, Raymond and Merton; and her older sisters, Inez Lynnes and Hazel Campbell. Ruby is lovingly remembered and sorely missed by her twin sister, Ruth Bakke (Regina). Ruby will be very much missed by her three children, Lionel (Lise) of West Vancouver, BC, Dianne Amann (Gerry) of Watson Lake, Yukon and Douglas of Nanaimo BC; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. SKELLERN, Allen - Life-long North Bay resident Allen "Al" Skellern died at the North Bay General Hospital on Monday, November 8th, 2004. Allen Skellern was the beloved husband of Barbara Hanneson whom he married on July 18, 1955. They celebrated their 49th anniversary this past July. Proud and loving father of his stepson Brian Baldwin (Melba), of North Bay, and son Christopher Skellern of Brampton; he was predeceased by his stepdaughter Lynn Baldwin-Lachapelle. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Jon and Jennifer Baldwin, and Cynthia and David Lachapelle, and his great-grandchildren Lisa, Stephanie and Brooke. Sadly missed by his sister Jessie Banks (Kendrick) of North Bay and their children Janet Villeneuve (Ronald) of Lively, Gladys Banks Bryer (Keith) and Rae Fournier (Robert) both of North Bay, Bill Banks (Angela) of Tillsonburg and Lee Chorley (Les) of Jasper, Alberta. Son of the late Ernest and Minnie Skellern, Allen was born in North Bay on June 18, 1921. A veteran of the RCAF he attended the University of Toronto after the war then returned to North Bay. He worked as an accountant for F.R. Paterson Plumbing prior to joining the staff at the Civic Hospital. He held several positions there, from Personnel Director to Comptroller. He left the hospital to become the Manager of the Joint Hospital Laundry, retiring in 1986. A long-time member of the Rotary Club of North Bay, Allen was also very active in the International Association for Hospital Textile Management, of which he served as President in 1984-85. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in St. Andrew's United Church on Friday, November 12th at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow with interment of ashes in the North Bay Union Cemetery. Ian McKinnon, 62 Ian Keith McKinnon, 62, died October 17 at his residence in Brockville, with his family by his side. He had been ill with cancer for the past 10 months. Born April 22, 1942 in Dagenham, Essex, England, he was the only son of Donald R. McKinnon and the former Florence King. He and his family moved to Canada in 1952, settling first in Kingston and later moving to Athens, where Ian attended both public and high schools. He was a member of the air cadets, earning his gold wings badge. He also belonged to the army reserves. On June 16, 1962, he married the former Marian Patty Mavety in Athens United Church. After his marriage, he attended Algonquin College and earned certification in welding and metal fabrication. He held tickets in MIG, TIG and high pressure welding and went on to design and create wrought-iron furniture and estate gates. Mr. McKinnon was employed at Brockville General Hospital as an orderly and at the Brockville Psychiatric Hospital as a nursing attendant until 1971, when the family moved to Toronto. There he obtained his transport driver's licence and went to work for McCain's Foods, of Florenceville, N.B., as a long haul driver. Then he worked for the air division of Purolator Courier in Toronto and later owned and operated his own courier service in Toronto. In 1979 he and his family moved back to the Brockville area where he again worked as a courier driver for Dial-A-Delivery, Dicom Courier and Auto-parts Extra. He also worked for Golden Rule Plumbing and Heating as an oil burner mechanic. Most recently he was employed by Leeds Transit of Elgin, where he worked until July 23, when he was off work for more cancer surgery. Mr. McKinnon was a founding member of the Miles for Millions campaign in Toronto, donating his time and company vehicles to this cause. He also received a Solicitor-General's Award in 1985 for crime prevention. His main interests were his family and people who were less fortunate. He would often bring four or five people for a meal at Christmas, believing no one should be alone at Christmas time. He enjoyed photography, fishing and reading and discussing the history of world affairs. He is survived by his mother, Florence McKinnon, who now lives at Maple View Lodge, Athens; his wife Marian McKinnon of Brockville; three daughters, Patty Linn Stafford and husband Michael and Jody Lee McKinnon and husband Raymond Denesha, all of Brockville, and Tracey Dawn McKinnon and husband Ronald Meinster of Pickering; six grandchildren, Lucas McKinnon and wife Amy of Philipsville, Richard McKinnon and wife Amy of Halifax, N.S., Robert Blanchard of Brockville, Joshua McKinnon of Brockville, Heidi McKinnon of Pickering and Charlotte Casselman of Peterborough; and two great-grandchildren, Austin McKinnon of Halifax and Janessa Haskin of Philipsville, as well as best friend James Beatty. Also surviving are two sisters, Denise Smith and husband James of Athens and Lesley Laming of Athens, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Donald McKinnon, in 1986. Friends called at the Judson Funeral Home, Athens, where on October 20 the funeral was held, with Rev. Dolly Dikens officiating. Burial followed at the Plum Hollow Cemetery. The pallbearers were Mike Stafford, Ron Meinster, Ray Denesha, Lucas McKinnon, James Beatty and Roger Pankhurst. The honorary pallbearers were Josh McKinnon and Robert Blanchard. Memorial donations were directed to the Humane Society and Canadian Cancer Society. WADLEIGH, Moire Anne. Moire Wadleigh passed away peacefully in St. John's, Newfoundland on November 3, 2004, after a lengthy illness. She leaves behind her husband, Garry Quinlan of Flatrock, Nfld.; her parents Jon and Mary Wadleigh of Nepean; her brother Ian Wadleigh and his wife Lisa of Edmonton. Also survived by aunts and uncles, John and Flora Livingstone, Ancaster, Ont., Ted and Jean Wadleigh, Stanstead, Quebec and special cousins Peter and Bonnie Livingstone, North Gower. She will be missed by many good friends around the world, particularly Tara, Robbie, Margaret and Helen. Moire was a professor in the Earth Sciences Department at Memorial University where she could live her life-long dream of pursuing knowledge. Moire was a graduate of Sir Robert Borden High School; she received her B.Sc. (Hons.) at Carleton University, her Masters at the University of Ottawa and her Ph.D. at McMaster University, Hamilton. Thank you to all the people who made her life a joy and her passing easier. Particular thanks to the medical staff at the Health Sciences Centre who helped Moire through her last days and helped Garry deal with his loss. Thanks also to her minister whose spiritual guidance provided emotional comfort in a difficult time and to the many friends who gave emotional support and practical help. A memorial service will be held at Parkwood Presbyterian Church, 10 Chesterton Drive, Nepean, at 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 23. GERARD, RONNIE ALLIE The passing of Ronnie Allie Gerard of Lincoln, NB occurred suddenly as a result of an auto accident on the Rusagonis Road, Sunday, November 7, 2004. Born in Oromocto, NB on July 16, 1969, he was a son of Clara (LaPointe) Gerard and the late Roger Gerard. Ronnie was a cook by trade and was employed with The Ramada Hotel (formerly Howard Johnsons) then with City Motel and later with Winners Restaurant and Lounge on the Fredericton Exhibition Grounds where he was employed at the time of his death. He was Roman Catholic by faith. He left us quickly but will be lovingly remembered forever. Don was a Fire Fighter in Regina from 1959 to 1989. During that time he started up his own business – Cascade Irrigation. After retiring he fulfilled his dream by purchasing some land and began to farm where he also built his dream home. He will always be remembered as a young and vibrant man. Family members left to treasure his memories are his two daughters, Lorna (Matt) Donner and Carla Oswald; three grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nicholas Donner and Jaydah Oswald; his two sisters, Irene Sundby and Shirley Fraser; as well as nieces, nephews, friends and fellow fire fighters. Milt Endicott, in his 89th year, was the beloved husband of Mary McNeil. BROWN, Brenda (nee Walsh). After a long and courageous struggle at the Notre-Dame Hospital on Sunday, November 7, 2004. It is with sadness that we share the loss of Brenda, beloved wife of Robert, dear mother of Kimberly, dear daughter of Theresa and the late William, dear sister of Michael (Doreen). She also leaves behind her dearest friends Janet, Marjo and Lynne as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Brenda was a loving wife and mother and loyal and warm friend to those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was also a dedicated employee of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Brenda will be dearly missed by those whose lives she touched with her love and kindness but she will remain alive in our hearts forever. ROBERT, Donna Marie - On October 31, 2004 Donna Marie Robert (nee Reid) of Kamloops, B.C. passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 63 years. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Kathy (Rick) McNeill and son Phillip Robert. She leaves behind six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; her siblings Phillip (Joyce) Reid, Sandy Reid, Rachel Morbin, Bonnie Newman, Carol Gouchie, Danny Aupin, Lynn (Corey) Palmer and Bruce (Sharon) Reid. Donna was predeceased by her husband Ronald Robert, and long time companion and friend Church Simms, her parents Francis and Christina Reid and siblings Ron Reid, Phyllis Robert, Randy Reid and Mary Ferragini. Donna was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and moved to Williams Lake, B.C. in 1967. She moved to Spences Bridge, B.C. in 1977 where she resided until 2001 when she moved to Kamloops to be closer to family. Donna loved fishing and camping with Pat and will be dearly missed by her many family and friends. At Donna's request there will be no service.
