Sandra May Mentuck September 15, 1967 - November 07, 2004 Accidentally on Sunday, November 7, 2004 at the scene Sandra May Mentuck passed away at the age of 37 years. Sandra was born at Roblin, Manitoba on September 15, 1967, spending most of her life in Winnipeg. Sandra enjoyed spending time with family and friends watching movies. She was a kind , caring person, who always put others first. Her smile would always bring laughter and joy and always light up the room. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her husband Rene Jones, two sons, Michael and Jonathon, Mother Ethel Mentuck, five brothers; Gary, Roger, Bob, James (Rose) and Tim (Nancy), one sister Pat (Marcel). There are numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Sandra was predeceased by her daughter; Amanda, father; Abraham Beardy, sister; Rita and brother; Kenneth Mentuck. ALLPORT, LINDA ANNETTE - The death of Linda Annette Allport occurred on November 8, 2004, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Southport, England she was the daughter of Barrie and Josephine 'Judy' (Yates) Allport. She was employed in the administration services department of Baxters Dairies Ltd. She enjoyed tole-painting and craft-work. Besides her parents she is survived by her brother Gary and his wife Linda Simard of Saint John, her sister Carol and her husband Peter Duplisea of Halifax, NS, her niece Stephanie Allport, and her nephews Michael Allport and Adam and Christopher Duplisea, and several aunts uncles and cousins. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Ruby Dodd (née Bakke) November 09, 1910 - November 08, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Regina Funeral Home DODD, Ruby (nee Bakke) passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2004 on the day before her 94th birthday. Born on the family farm in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan on November 9, 1910, Ruby attended high school in Yellow Grass and business school in Weyburn, then worked for the Provincial Government for 9 years until she married George Dodd who predeceased her in 1995. Ruby was Provincial Representative for the Saskatchewan Branch of ACTRA from 1965-73, and was active in the community including the women’s groups of St. Andrews United Church, Whitmore United Church and the RCMP. She loved arts and crafts, square dancing, alley bowling, lawn bowling, swimming and playing bridge. Her life spanned almost all of Regina’s 100 years and she was born the year that the Roughriders, her sports passion, were formed. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Nellie Bakke; her brothers, Morris, Raymond and Merton; and her older sisters, Inez Lynnes and Hazel Campbell. Ruby is lovingly remembered and sorely missed by her twin sister, Ruth Bakke (Regina). Ruby will be very much missed by her three children, Lionel (Lise) of West Vancouver, BC, Dianne Amann (Gerry) of Watson Lake, Yukon and Douglas of Nanaimo BC; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family is very appreciative of the sympathy expressed by Ruby’s many friends; and for the care she received from Precious Memories Care Home. Selon ses volontés, M. Gaudreau n'a pas été exposé. Les funérailles, en présence des cendres, ont été célébrées en l'Église de St-Jean-sur-le-Lac le 29 octobre dernier et l'inhumation des cendres a suivi au cimetière paroissial. La direction des funérailles a été confiée au Funérarium Achille Ouellette du 680, de la Madone, Mont-Laurier.

BASSETT, Barbara. Wife of George Finlay Bassett, died on October 30, 2004. She is survived by her husband George and three children, Peter and wife Tina, Linda and Tom as well as her sister, Nancy Scheunert and brother Malcolm Barnes of Vancouver, B.C. Barbara was also a proud grandmother of three grandchildren, Daniel, Christopher and Lisen. Barbara was very creative, expressing her love of art through many medias: drawings, prints, paintings and sculpture. An ambitious cyclist, she climbed the peaks of Provence as well and enjoying skiing and golfing. All those close to her will miss her greatly, especially her tireless spirit and dedication to those fortunate ones she loved. LAIDLAW, Christopher Michael Charles. K22 799 429 Leading Seaman Christopher Michael Charles Laidlaw, born 17 November 1976 weighing 7 lbs 6 oz at the Ottawa Grace Hospital. Mike died 3 November 2004 in Oak Harbor WA while serving at the U.S. Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. He was a TAS OP (Tactical Array Sensor Operator) and later an INT OP (Intelligence Operator) in the Naval Ocean Processing Facility (NOPF). Michael is the precious and beloved son of Dorothy and George and the admired and beloved brother of Meghan. Deeply and fondly remembered by his cousins Genevieve, Rebecca, Allie, Doug, little Mike, Nicole, Tyler, Ted, Christine and Heather and his cat Misty. Precious nephew of Dianne, Paula and Kevin, Bill and Chris, Charles, Rob and Sally, Keith and Douglas. Dearest grandson of Asa Danard and Bess Laidlaw. Mike was also much loved by other family members and his many, many friends. He was a schoolboy at Stephen Leacock and Huntley Centennial Public Schools, a graduate of West Carleton High School, a drafting student at Algonquin College, and a proud sea cadet in RCSCC Falkland for many years. He served nobly and faithfully in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1998 until his death. Mike sailed the seas on HMCS St. John's, HMCS Iroquois and helped out in other ships. He also served dutifully in OP APOLLO in the Gulf War. He is the recipient of the SWASM (South West Asia Service Medal), Marksmanship Awards and has been highly cited and commended for his work. He loved gadgets especially his computer and ancillary equipment, for they opened windows to the world for him and he used his knowledge to help protect Canada, the U.S. and other Nations and to help the computer illiterate around him. Mike was generous, kind, and loving, even to his four footed and winged friends. He was resolutely faithful to the Navy, his principles and beliefs and could be absolutely counted upon to be of assistance whenever summoned. Michael will be sorrowfully missed but will be held close to the bosom of God. Vera Brown LAKEVILLE, NB - The death of Vera Brown, age 86, of Lakeville, occurred at the Moncton City Hospital on Sunday, November 7, 2004. Born in Caledonia, ON, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mabel (Hodgkins) Poole. A former resident of Ontario, she moved to New Brunswick in 1968. For 13 years she worked at Lakeville Grocery, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Lakeville Golden Dears. She enjoyed cards, darts, bowling and bingo. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Linda Stiles of Lakeville; her son, Clifford (Vera) Judge of Owen Sound, ON; five grandchildren, Lynda, David, Jeffrey, Lori and Gordon; and five great-grandchildren, David, Colin, Lauren, Katrina and Samantha. Donald Richard Oswald June 25, 1933 - November 07, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Regina Funeral Home OSWALD, DONALD RICHARD “Ozzy” -- 1933 – 2004 -- It is with much sadness that the family of Don announces his peaceful passing on Sunday November 7, 2004. He left us quickly but will be lovingly remembered forever. Don was a Fire Fighter in Regina from 1959 to 1989. During that time he started up his own business – Cascade Irrigation. After retiring he fulfilled his dream by purchasing some land and began to farm where he also built his dream home. He will always be remembered as a young and vibrant man. Family members left to treasure his memories are his two daughters, Lorna (Matt) Donner and Carla Oswald; three grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nicholas Donner and Jaydah Oswald; his two sisters, Irene Sundby and Shirley Fraser; as well as nieces, nephews, friends and fellow fire fighters. BROWN, Brenda (nee Walsh). After a long and courageous struggle at the Notre-Dame Hospital on Sunday, November 7, 2004. It is with sadness that we share the loss of Brenda, beloved wife of Robert, dear mother of Kimberly, dear daughter of Theresa and the late William, dear sister of Michael (Doreen). She also leaves behind her dearest friends Janet, Marjo and Lynne as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Brenda was a loving wife and mother and loyal and warm friend to those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was also a dedicated employee of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Floyd McCormick COLPITTS SETTLEMENT, NB - Floyd Andrew McCormick, 67, of Colpitts Settlement, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2004 at The Moncton Hospital following a sudden illness. Born in Colpitts Settlement he was a son of the late Charles and Elvina (Rogers) McCormick. Floyd was a retired school bus driver with over 30 years service and was a former employee of Colpitts Woodworkers and Graves Storage Barns. Floyd enjoyed gardening and farming, both his own and helping family and friends with theirs. He enjoyed sharing the bounty of his harvest with neighbors. He was an avid cribbage player in the local tournaments, attended the Nixon Baptist Church and the Salisbury Monday Morning Merry Makers. He will be sadly missed by his wife of seven years, Cheryl (Geldart); his children, Donna Goodwin, Truro, Wayne (Susan), Ottawa, Wendy Allain (Mario), Dieppe; grandchildren, Drew, Katie, Marissa, Blake and Jasmine; stepdaughters, Donna and Jennifer; sisters, Jean Chapman, Salisbury, Marguerite Weir, Shirley Lewis (Cecil), Brenda Lewis (Russell), Colpitts Settlement; brothers, Aubrey (Loretta), Upper Coverdale, Leonard (Audrey), Colpitts Settlement, Reid (Clara), Mollins Road; and by several nieces and nephews.
